Rawani:Rawani, I agree with you! I've spoken to over 1,000 persons across states in the 6 geo-political regions and across different strata of society- low-level, mid-level, and upper-level income classes and 98% are going to vote Buhari! Most persons believe that the President had failed woefully on issues like security, corruption, disposable income, real leadership, tribalism/nepotism, and an unfortunate division of Nigeria along tribe and religion. |
SpinalCord:Spinalcord, you don't observe Aregbesola very well during campaigns. He does the Islamic chants and always follows it with a popular Christian (Yoruba church) song (ewo asiaa ti Jesu- Jesus, Jesu feere de, etc). He did it during his swearing-in and I saw him do it during Buhari's campaigns in Ekiti, Lagos, and Kwara today. Do a search on youtube for the campaign videos (both for his own Osun election, inauguration, and Buhari campaigns). People misunderstand Aregbesola because he speaks forcefully and appears combative (likely because he used to be a Students' Union leader at The Polytechnic Ibadan in his school days). His well-known younger brother, from the same father and mother (Pastor Gbenga Aregbesola) is a Pentecostal pastor (you may google him), his younger sister's late husband was a Christian until he died (and his sister is a Christian too till today) and he has been taking care of her children (that is his nieces and nephews) since that time; in fact the children live in Osun Govt. House (and his Lagos home) and they are ALL Christians! He allows them practice Christianity and has refused to convert them to his own religion despite being their sponsor/guardian. Just to say (and reconfirm) that in Yorubaland religion is not so divisive... |
ceo4eva:CEO, you're lying so shamelessly! Five different people I know (4 resident in KD- Kaduna, and one resident in Zaria) confirmed that the 25,000-capacity stadium (Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna) was half-filled! It says a lot when the VP (who's from Kaduna state) couldn't fill a 25,000-capacity stadium after promising his clueless boss, Jonathan, that he will mobilize 2 million people! Failure is starring the PDP clowns and their clueless and fidgety Jonathan in the face! On Valentine's Day, Nigeria will witness history! Buhari will maul the so-called PhD holder who doesn't know his right from his left! |
masterpower:AMBODE will trounce Agbaje so much that the fall will appear as the fall of an elephant in a small forest! You don't have a clue about Lagos elections, party structure, platforms, key personalities, associations, etc. How many of you PDP noisemakers even have PVCs? You guys that are relying on non-Yoruba (or non-Lagos indigene) voters will be so shocked when Ambode wins by a landslide! You think non-indigenes (or non-Yorubas) in Alaba/Trade Fair, Satellite Town, Ladipo, FESTAC, etc will win the governorship election for PDP's Agbaje? I laugh in Portuguese! Shaking my head....You want to bring a puppet being guided by Bode George (BODE GEORGE!) to rule Lagos! You must be joking... |
Yungwizzzy:I wonder... These up-close pictures appear the rally held in a secondary school football field! Compared to the crowd at APC rallies in the North (with close-up and distant pictures shown), this PDP rally 'crowd' is nothing. |
holatin:It's frustrating...How the President got a PhD is still a mystery. I still feel like writing a petition to the University of Port Harcourt. No quotable quotes, no finesse, no presence, no aura, little intelligence; talks like a primary school kid; behaves like a toddler, lacks confidence during local and international interviews, handed over the political life of an entire country to his meddlesome and uncontrollable wife; can hardly speak extempore at any level without glaring grammatical and context blunders, looks so unsure, seems so unprepared for any leadership role! The other day, in an ECOWAS meeting, our President stood at the back for a photo shoot and allowed Presidents of Benin Republic, Togo, Mali, Niger, The Gambia, Ghana, Burkina-Faso, etc to take the front row! Nigeria's President! The same ECOWAS that Nigeria funds almost 100%! It's like Angela or Putin hiding at the back during EU meeting photo shoot or Obama hiding at the back of other Presidents at UN photo shoot! I think God just punished Nigeria by allowing this clown become our President. We don't deserve this clueless President! |
meracool:Interesting to note that the TAN devils and PDP clowns have refused to comment on the truth said about Benue State school teachers being on strike for 11 and a half months (almost one full year)! How could a serious government keep school children at home for one year? How well did Suswan sleep during the one year strike while his own family members were attending private schools? And you will vote that same party again in February? Jus for sentiments? It is a fact that FAILURE, CLUELESSNESS, NON-PERFORMANCE, LACK OF FORESIGHT, PLANLESSNESS in government seems more acceptable (and normal) in PDP than in APC. Too many proofs to sustain the assertion... |
Mogidi:You're a demented bigot! You're lazy too. Check history (google is free). Most Nigerians (across tribes) who are in their 60s-80s today married their wives at very young ages. Buhari, having married his late first wife at 18, was even late. I know several Yoruba, Igbo, Calabar, Langtang, Birom, Idoma, Tiv elites today who married their wives at 16! So many elites today had their wives studying for their degrees as married women. I have met several older women across major tribes in Nigeria who married at 16-19 immediately after their Teachers' College or secondary school graduation. I know 4 Professors, now between age range 60-70, 2 of whom are Yoruba, and the other are Idoma and Igbo, who got married at between 15 and 16, and had their entire teacher training and/or secondary education as married women in their husbands' houses, before climbing the academic ladder! If you are lazy, try a particular page of The Punch on Saturdays/Sundays where accomplished Nigerians in their 70s, 80, 90s married their wives well before their wives were 20 years old. Even in the Western World (especially in the US and the UK), check history, it was the norm. Women of that era married so young, some at 15! Again, try to watch the series on Crime Investigation (CI), the DSTV channel, you will see several instances of older British and American women in their 60s, 70s, 80s today, who married at 15, 16, 17, 18! |
fyneguy:Another empty promise! Show the proof of the jobs you've created in 6 years! Everything about Jonathan is 'I WILL', 'IF' never 'I HAVE', 'WHEN'! |
christaddicted:You are so smart! The same way he deceived Okadigbo (late former Senate President) and Audu Ogbeh (former PDP National Chairman) when he surprised them with visits and ate pounded yam prepared by their wives and removed them a day after! Baba wanted Jonathan to lower his guard and he strikes! |
Lilaex:Are you dumb, deceitful, or stupid? Or all of the three? Is Bisi Akande the National Chairman of APC? You lifted the names of INTERIM NATIONAL EXCO and pretended it was the CURRENT EXCO. This is the height of falsehood. And some clowns already liked your daft, false post! |
priscaoge:Really? The President made a 'humble speech'? It was the opposite... The President spoke for 33 minutes at the TBS Lagos, in his inaugural campaign rally, and DID NOT say a single thing about his plans for 2015-2019! His entire speech was full of insults, curses, lame and angry comments, and hot air. Nothing on future policies, programs, expectations, etc! No wonder Adelakun, the popular Punch columnist, said that she has been asking Okupe, Fani-Kayode, and Olisa Metuh for a copy of the PDP Manifesto for almost a month and none of them has responded despite constant reminders through emails, twitter, telephone, etc! PDP has nothing to offer Nigeria and Nigerians! The Niger Delta people, a tribe of Prof. Henshaw, Prof. Tekena Tamuno, Prof. Iyayi, Prof. Okonofua, Prof. Tam David West, the JP Clarkes, the Dele Coles, the Graham-Douglases, the Banigos, the Horsefalls, the Aliles, and several other illustrious families, do not deserve to have this clown of a President represent them! We need to unravel how University of Port Harcourt, that reputable University, awarded Jonathan a PhD! It is so pitiful... Not even Shehu Shagari, the elected President who had a Grade Two Teacher Certificate was this timid, non-confident, bereft of ideas, clueless, directionless, docile, and ineffectual! |
Our President is too dumb to have legitimately been awarded THAT UNPORT PhD! What sort of a President is this? The President who told us immediately after the same (October 1 2010) bomb blast that "IT WAS NOT MEND THAT BOMBED EAGLE SQUARE (without any investigation, either preliminary or complete)"! So, from 2007 until 2010 MEND was one of your main supporters, but just a few days ago (in January 2015) when the same MEND issued a statement supporting APC's Buhari, MEND has now ceased to be your supporter. I am ready to sponsor an independent probe into President Jonathan's Uniport PhD. Anytime he speaks he oozes lack of confidence, timidity, dumb-ass thinking, shallow thought process, and obvious lack of self awareness. He stammered all through his speech at TBS earlier today and was barely articulate; just shouting and cursing. He didn't say anything about what we should expect in the future (should he be re-elected); it was all garbage! OBJ, some Nigerians would find it hard to forgive you for foisting this lame-duck, do-nothing nitwit on Nigerians as President! Kai, diaris Gooodu o, lol. |
robinsoncrosoe:You're a sadist. Where's your humanity to have claimed General Buhari would die after the elections? Only God can assure you (even you) of being alive to vote on election day! Be wise! Politicians (APC, PDP, Labour, etc) are friends in their closets, while citizens fight and curse each other without end. Do not allow your hatred for Buhari lead you to your eternal perdition! And Buhari has ONLY ONE WIFE! |
MizMyColi:Well said, MizMyColi. Fashola is head and shoulder above his peer Governors. The facts are too glaring. While some Governors are busy commissioning boreholes and 'keke Marwa and NAPEP empowerment', Fashola is commissioning ground-breaking projects that will well outlive his tenure. Anyone who has lived in Lagos from 1975 (till today) would appreciate the positive impact of the Fashola years. It is beyond party allegiance. Performance has no party colour. It is the same way people who have lived in Akwa-Ibom in the past 20 years have been talking positively about Godswill Akpabio. Truth is constant. |
chukwudi44:Hmmm, election results do not usually go the way of some random interviews of market women and okada riders, bro. Experience has shown that elections could be won with religious sentiments, tribal affiliation, and MONEY! These same so-called okada riders and market women would vote the part that 'can pay' on lection day! It is not as simple as you've made it out... I have had instances of a Local Govt Chairman being stoned at campaign rallies and at the end of the day, he won convincingly! Before the 2011 elections, the majority of Niger State people vowed not to vote Muazu Babangida Aliyu as Governor as he was a complete let down; but what happened? He won. During the recent Niger East Senatorial elections held in September-October(following the death of the PDP Senator at the time), most constituents vowed to vote out PDP and vote the APC man because the late PDP Senator was a complete failure. What happened? It was a very, very close (even very controversial) contest but the PDP won! You cannot wish away the power of incumbency, pre-election turn-around, money, etc. |
The story published in a pro-PDP newspaper, Tribune, today, stated that Obanikoro was promised the following things to enable him withdraw the case from court and work for Agbaje: 1. Koro will return as a senior (full) Minister 2. Koro's son MAY be considered as Deputy Governor (running mate)- although another person had been selected 3. Koro will nominate 'his people' as Commissioners under an Agbaje Government. So, it was all about personal interest. Nothing more... Truth be told, one would rather support a candidate with Tinubu as godfather than one with Bode George as godfather. To have a Tinubu (with his weaknesses) as godfather is 100 times better than an 'elewon Bode George'. Tinubu used Alpha Beta to revolutionize Lagos IGR from a mere N700 million per month to several billions, and introduced several other monumental structures and innovative ideas that had endured to date (most of which are being copied by many State Governments across party lines in Nigeria 8 years after Tinubu left office), whereas Bode George would just SELL Lagos overnight, should Agbaje get elected. Nigerians who are old enough (and who know history) know that Bode George's stealing career did not start at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). It started when he was Military Governor of Ondo State under IBB. He ordered 'Oko-Baba Plank Market' tugs, boats, and canoes from Ebute-Metta and elsewhere and put them out as imported items. Days after the 'fake commissioning' with fanfare where thousands of naira was spent, the so-called boats refused to sail! And that was the end of the story. Buried (as most of the stealing under IBB)! Both Ambode and Agbaje have intimidating CV, but Ambode is it for me and my family! |
barcanista:Ahmadu Ali, from Kogi state, was the notoriously corrupt Federal Commissioner (Minister) of Education during the first major riot of Nigerian students (Ali Must Go Riots) where students were killed like fowl after protesting against a certain wicked educational policy in the 1970s... He got rehabilitated from nowhere by OBJ as a pliant PDP National Chairman after removing Audu Ogbeh. He later became Chairman of the powerful Petroleum Products Pricing Agency (PPRA) where he stole a lot of money. He is holding (and has held) many Board positions at the Federal level right now. And he is in his 70s...His wife, from Delta state, slapped a PDP official recently owing to issues resulting from seeking the Delta Senatorial seat in 2015, which she woefully lost. Recycling the old clowns of yore. |
simplemach:You are a hypocrite! How many Muslims have so many other state governments sponsored for Hajj in Mecca compared to the 'millions' they've sponsored to Jerusalem for Christian pilgrimage? States like Enugu, Anambra, Akwa-Ibom, Cross-River, Rivers, Abia, Imo, Delta, Edo, Ebonyi, etc? This is the religious intolerance and hypocrisy we talk about! Bauchi is predominantly Muslim and the fact that the Muslim Governor sponsored 99.99% of the Christian pilgrims (417 of 418) is commendable, especially when we judge with Nigeria's peculiar religious setting and sentiments of 'my people alone'. Ask Gov. Orji or Gov. Obiano to sponsor only 100 Muslims from Abia state or Anambra state (in spite of so many Hausa Muslims in Aba or Onitsha, some of whom have been living there since 1910 and rarely visit the North) and see whether any of the two Governors would sponsor just 50! Good things are good and bad things are bad! No sentiments... Anyway, I don't support any state government sponsoring citizens on pilgrimage, whether Christian or Muslim, but when a positive thing is done, one should say it objectively! And it is not even a political thing (Yuguda is a PDP Governor). |
Ninapha:You obviously do not know Fashola. The Governor visits Birch Freeman regularly and he interacts with the students and his old teachers. Fashola's step-mum is a Christian (don't know his mum's faith), his wife is a strong Christian (a Dame of the Catholic Church who also got the Papal Award by Pope Benedict, and she has strong bias for TREM and Redeemed Church). Also, ALL of Fashola's sisters are Christians, in spite of his late dad's faith as a Muslim. This is no big deal among Yorubas. I know several families that are split almost 50:50 between Muslims and Christians! This is the main reason you hardly hear of religious upheaval among Yorubas... For instance, Tinubu, as Lagos Governor (a Muslim also married to a Christian) introduced the Annual Thanksgiving Service at the Lagos Government House where Papa Adeboye, Oyedepo, Abiara, Okonkwo, the Adefarasin brothers, Kasali, and other notable Pastors pray and minister. Fashola inherited the Service and continued till today! And several Yoruba APC egg-heads have Christian wives- it is a long list: Gov. Ajimobi, Gov. Amosun, Speaker Ikuforiji, Papa Bisi Akande, It is not every action that you should attach vain intentions. Where is your objective mind? |
I'm sorry to write this: "The Senate of Univesity of Port Harcourt (Uniport) must investigate our President's PhD"! I know quite a number of very intelligent and highly confident Uniport graduates, but our President damages the reputation of that good University every time he speaks (especially when the speeches are not written). The way the President addresses the media and the public (local or international), his body language, nuances, coherence, confidence, level of panache, etc is a disgrace to the very foundations of the PhD degree! Incredible! |
Ovamboland:God bless you, nothing to add. So apt... |
omenka:Omenka, it is the height of madness! Sheer insanity, I dare say! |
Our Federal Government has taken a lot of idiotic steps in the past few years, however, this must be the most idiotic of all decisions taken in the last 4 years! What strategic benefit would this senseless expenditure bring aside its use for election spending and enrichment of some clueless government officials and their stooges? We deserve the type of leaders we have! A whopping N9.2 billion for stoves to be distributed to rural people? N9.2 billion! |
It is a shame. Real shame. South Africa with 50 million people is generating 40,000-50,000mW, and the 'giant of Africa' is rolling out the drums, holding a press conference to celebrate 4,600mW for 170 million people! What a country! What a leadership and more unfortunately, what a docile, cheap, tribalistic, "religiosity-imbued", easily-appeased followership! This so-called 4,600 mW is not reflecting in power supply in at least one third of Lagos. No change. We still run generators almost for the entire day... That any sane Nigerian will support PDP at the Federal level since 1999 (I support and admire few PDP Governors who are doing well) is the height of irrationality. Only people who are benefitting from (or whose family members are benefitting from) the rot in Nigeria will support PDP at the Federal level! And of course the tribalistic, religiously-blinded 'follow-follow' Nigerians |
One wonders the fuss about the Speaker's defection. It is an axiom that 'politics is essentially local'. The man's mentor, Governor Wammako, had long left PDP for APC; every member of the Sokoto House of Assembly, and majority of the members of the National Assembly from Sokoto State had also done so long ago. And the man is interested in the Sokoto governship, what does PDP expect him to do? Remain in PDP to face Shagari (Wammako's Deputy who remained in the PDP) in the primaries? The man even respected PDP for staying this long in their party almost a year after his State Governor, the entire Sokoto State House of Asembly, and majority of his Sokoto legislators had left... The expectation of PDP is akin to expecting Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State to remain in PDP after Senator Bukola Saraki left PDP for APC! He will be history! This is pragmatic politics in action, aside that Tambuwal has NOT breached any part of the Constitition! |
lacasa:I remember that the President said this! In a country where our leaders are accountable to nobody, anything goes! We don't ask questions, we don't demand results, we don't question unfulfilled promises...What a country! |
Olaolufred:Well said! Nothing to add! God bless you... |
jaymichael:Thanks, Jay. The 'misty eyes' part is so apt. Without a shred of doubt, Fashola is easily Nigeria's best State Governor! Anyone (I mean any objective person not tainted with hatred, ethnic bigotry, and political affiliations) who lived in Lagos between 1980 and now would have seen a remarkable difference when you have an intellectual, methodical, brilliant, and purposeful person as Governor! The other day, his official car waited in traffic in Yaba like any other Lagosian, no harrasment of other road users, no siren, no noise, no fuss. And guess what? The entire back seat of his car was filled with books! To the brim! A mind that reads would always be nourished. No wonder, most times I've seen him deliver speeches in public (at least about 22 times since 2007), more than half of his speeches are always done extempore with figures, facts, and illustrations (without looking at any paper or written text). He has an idea about almost everything- health, politics, law (his forte), sociology, religion, classics, languages, psychology, administration, human rights, physical planning, building, infrastructure, oil and gas. Name it! While most other Governors are busy commissioning boreholes and other token projects that a local government councilor could comfortably execute, Governors like Fashola, Akpabio, Kwankwanso, Amosun, are launching landmark projects that will impact their people and positively outlive them! In a sane country, where primordial sentiments are not deeply rooted, a FASHOLA/AKPABIO Presidential ticket in 2015 would have been so ideal! God bless Nigeria and Nigerians! |
prettyjo:Really? How do you expect his son to look? Like an Easterner? Or Westerner? What a comment, lol! |
And Jang was supposed to be a 'Man of God'! No wonder his son is a top government appointee in Plateau State and all local government chairmen, Commisioners and other political office holders bow in his presence and fear him! Jonah Jang, a former State Governor, a former military top-shot, over 70 years in age! Where would he carry the money to ![]() |
Why is it that it is only Fayose's name that is ALWAYS attributed to violence and assassinations! Other past Governors (Adebayo, Oni, and lately, Fayemi) had relatively peaceful experience. The main assassinations- Dr. Ayo Daramola, Omojola, and several other murders occured in Fayose's first call of duty; he is back and we have started noticing killings again! He told the Ewi of Ado Ekiti during the campaigns that he was a changed man! It does not appear so...Leading thugs to assault judges, tearing court record books, beating judges, shouting at judicial officers is not a character of a changed man. I pity Ekiti people! God help them...He who brings home ant infested wood, should not complain of holes in his clothes! |
