Family › Advice On An Alleged Illegitimate Son by DUNKA(op): 7:48am On Jun 03, 2018 |
Goodday all I need some advise for my cousin who had a relationship with a lady 24 years ago. At the time she became pregnant and claimed that it was another person that was the father of the child until when the child was 3 years old she claimed that it was my cousins child. There was a case then and the child was rejected by my cousin and his family.
Fast forward to early this year the child got my cousins number and contacted him. Note that my cousin is now married with 3 children and had never had any contact with the alleged son. He decided to meet up with the alleged child together with his wife. The boy is now 22 years of age and when they met my cousin told him that due to the controversy of the past a DNA test must be conducted as decided by family.
The boy had not told his mother or family of the contact and when the found out they were furious and started demanding that before any DNA test is performed my cousin must come and meet them.
The boys family just seem interested in holding on to the past and my cousins family is adamant if not test no contact will be maintained.
Please kindly advise as my cousin is ready yo take responsibility but without a confirmed DNA test he can't move on and it is not like he made the initial contact and he has 3 sons already with 1 daughter.
The funny thing is that the alleged boy has been sending him texts messages making some indirect threats against him. That he mist know his identity as if it by force he can become a family member. I had advised him that he should break off all contact if the boys family do not unconditionally agree for the DNA test.
Kindly advise on the best way to handle this |

bigrovar: On the issues of warranty I think it's apt to put another experience out on here, this time from a company a bit local.
The long part of the story is documented in my blog here http://bobby.com.ng/2018/05/20/lightning-fan-and-warranty-issues/ The top long didn't read tldr version of the above is.. My inverter started misbehaving after a lightning strike. Took up the issue with felicity inverters because it was under warranty. Was directed to an Abuja service center where the issue was fixed in fact a new control board was installed in less than 2 hours and inverter was working back as new. Not a kobo was asked for or paid. I was impressed not just because of the honored warranty but because of the spread of their service center for a relatively new entrant to the market to not only have service centers in outside of lagos but to also ensure those centers are well stocked with parts. It was a pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend their product based on above. bigrovar just curious on how the lightning strike affected your inverter. I thought you had lightening surge protectors installed? |

Car Talk › Re: Guys My Vehicle Was Saved From An Incompetent Nairaland Auto Guru Mayor2013 by DUNKA(m): 6:00am On Apr 23, 2018 |
Mrdigitech: WARNING!!!
Guys this is going to be a very long read. So brace up yourselves! There is a lot to learn from it.
I don't know where to start ooh, I remember last year May when I got my first car Camry 2001, it was all joy for me and everyone around me till It fell into hands of an incompetent mechanic who is also a well known member on this platform.
Although I wanted to get the EOD, i was scared because of the front leg and gear problems. At the last minute I settled for Camry 2001 as it had stellar reviews for easy maintenance and ruggedness from other owners on this platform.
I took it for its first scan and the following codes came up, Oxygen sensor malfunction, 3 EVAP codes and Exhaust Gas Recirculation Malfunction EGR.
I decided to upgrade the the cooling systems before working on the codes, since it was using direct fan and water in the radiator. Honmusa pressure tested the systems and swapped the water for coolant. And the car never overheated till date.
The only challenge I had while working with Honmusa is distance, I had to travel for some kilometers through traffic to meet him. On his recommendation, I decide to visit another So-called auto guru on this platform. That was the beginning of my torture and auto misfortune. At first, I was impressed with his array of facilities and equipments. Some of which I have never seen before.
First thing he did was to scan my Vehicle and we decided to resolve the issues one after the other. He successfully treated the O2 sensor replacement and cleared the code. Where he failed woefully was handling issues he had no experience tackling. EGR and charging system replacement. The alternator issue was a debacle. There was an internal fault that was busting up the alternator and causing a parasitic drain on the battery. This so-called guru, who is just a Kazeem with fancy gadgets suggested I changed the alternator that it will bring up my dashboard battery light, which stopped working, and charge properly bla bla blah...Ok I paid him for the alternator, and he replaced it. The battery check light still didn't come up.
He changed the alternator 3 times, thinking it was the fault was with the alternator but it wasn't. He concluded that the problem was with my instrument cluster. That I should change it. I doubted his ability because of his approach and non resolution of the problem. I was angry that he made me buy an alternator for nothing, whereas my old alternator was working well which was confirmed by Honmusa subsequently.
I asked to see the performance of the charging system he fixed but he told me I shouldn't worry that I should just go and continue my life, that the system he fixed for me was charging fine and that he will beat his chest any where that he was the one that fixed the system. I didn't know this guy fixed an overcharging alternator / system and it was set up fry up my Car's electronics. The burst up we had over the charging made him defer fixing my EGR issue till month end right from the middle of that month.
At first; i told Honmusa that I wanted the Adanced Kazeem with fancy gadgets to fix the EGR. He warned me that not everyone can handle EGR problems in cars and that it's stubborn to deal with. I didn't listen and thought he just wanted me to patronise him. I decided to solve the EGR issue. The nairaland "advanced Kazeem" fixed a lexus VSV that was faulty and the EGR code came back after a few days. He told me to replace the EGR valve and Modulator, I paid him for that and yet the code came back. He became confused and started fiddling with parts of the EGR system, trying his luck here and there. Yet the code came back and the car started idling erratically and stalling on motion when coming to a stop. He couldn't figure out why the car did that. At this point I lost hope about his competence.
Now, the overcharging system the Advanced nairaland Kazeem fixed started to haunt the destiny of the vehicle. Dashboard and breaklight Bulbs, were getting burnt and the instrument cluster guage began reading erratically. My AC light was blinking, the temperature guage handle was getting to the red zone. But when I turn on the AC the handle came back to the middle.
I had studied this behaviour over a few days. This time the car was like a walking corpse, plagued with erratic stalling, serious electrical issues, contributed mostly by the EGR and the overcharging alternator system. At a point while he was stubbornly trying to fix the the EGR code after several attempts, we drove out for a test drive and while on speed, he was using the horn and the horn went out. At this time I knew there was a deep fault in the electrical system.
Just before we got to his workshop the temperature guage was close to the top. We panicked that the car was overheating but we managed to reach his shop. The first thing he did once as we exited the car was boasting to his junior Kazeems how he drove the car and the car horn gave up. The car say Yeh!! Who dey drive me like this. Nah engineer dey drive you! He told his unfortunate Kazeem trainees.
At this point I kept quiet because I was annoyed by the incompetence I saw written all over him. We had a quarrelled about the EGR fix and now we had a potential overheating issue. I couldn't move the car out of fear, he had made up his mind that the car was overheating. I started regretting how and why I met him in the first place.
But I knew the car didn't show overheating signs when I used AC, but when the AC was off the cluster guage started misbehaving. I observed that when the vehicle's engine was loaded e.g using AC, the alternator voltage drops to a reasonable range e.g. below 14 volts, allowing the car electrical system recover temporarily, making the temperature gauge handle come down to the middle. This observation was noted while resolving the issue with Honmusa. The Advanced nairaland Kazeem removed my thermostat and the problem persisted. He thought the fan came on late. We changed the temperature sensor yet the faulty temperature gauge reading persisted.
We left the car idling for over one hour to physically see if the car will over heat. No, it didn't. They were now thinking the cluster was giving a faulty reading. I was mad that I spent my money for nothing and that the car never overheated in the first place. I observed that when the AC was on, temperature guage was always at the middle. I told them about it, they didn't believe me. Unknown to us, the alternator was sending out 17.5 volts while the car was at idle, who knows how much it sent out while in the car was in motion or at a higher RPM. Perhaps 30 volts on the cars electrical system.
We had a serious quarrel about the issue and he people gathered. His wife came and was begging us to calm down. He warned his junior Kazeems that my Vehicle has been banned from his shop, and no one should attend to me again. He walked me out of his walk. Even when i came back to his shop to pick up my old parts which he replaced, which I knew were mostly working. He asked what am I doing here? I told him I will write an unbiased review about his services and competence. He told me to go ahead. I also told him I will report him to Honmusa, and he didn't seemed worried. At this point I had spent close to N150K in his workshop on parts, servicing and so-called repairs; with my car electrical and engine operation battered...
The first thing after leaving his shop I did was to report him to Honmusa, and he was shocked and disappointed. He told me I should have contacted him since . We started cleaning up his mess. I was concerned about fixing the EGR issue, when Honmusa decided to check the charging system. It was then he alarmed that the system was over charging and that it will fry my computer and damage my battery. I was just about to travel with the car but I decided to solve the issue.
Since Honmusa armed me with the knowledge of my charging system, I couldn't travel to meet him and I took the car to an experienced rewire with 17 years experience. He struggled to fix it which sent him to Ladipo several times. He finally did, based on the advise of an r experienced rewire he saw at Ladipo and the battery warning light came on for the first time in 8 months.
The rewire didn't use volt meter to test the system and gave me assurance that the system is working perfectly. I immediately saw positive results as the electrical faults created by the incompetent nairaland Kazeem ended. I didn't need to replace any bleeping instrument cluster. Guage read correctly, cluster and brake light bulbs stopped burning out. Temperature guage started reading correctly and the car wasn't overheating.
I knew the Advanced nairaland Kazeem was really incompetent when he couldn't tell the coolant temperature of my car using his OBD scanner. He in fact took out my thermostat and told me until I bought a new instrument cluster, he wouldn't fix my Thermostat back which was confirmed to be working. This quack didn't know I had worked with Honmusa and he uses the best practices by properly diagnosing a problem before proferring solutions. I have seen Honmusa reading coolant temperature using his OBD scanner which is less bulky and complicated as that of the advanced Kazeem.
Honmusa checks the coolant temperature values are within the prescribed ranges using his OBD scanner. He didn't tell me to buy a new instrument cluster in other to accurately tell the vehicle's coolant temperature as suggested by the Advanced Kazeem. Honmusa made me understand that the cluster doesn't always provide the current performance report of the car since they are mostly analog devices, but an OBD scanner can provide you real-time information. You can get the exact data on the Vehicle's RPM, coolant temperature and many more.
Finally Honmusa fixed the vehicle's EGR system and the vehicle came back to life and runs like a breeze. I thank God that the advanced Kazeem drove me out of his workshop for good. Because that moment became the turnaround in the life and operation of my vehicle. I no thief money buy the motor; why will he condemn my Car's fate to an arrogant, incompetent mechanic....
Guys it's advisable to travel long distances to get professional help from competent gurus like Honmusa. You won't need to buy parts needlessly and destroy your car in a bid to repair it. You'll only burn fuel...The nairaland advanced Kazeem needs at least 5 years of serious training to stand on his own. I only pity the poor folks he is mentoring. These folks will then go on to destroy other people's cars...
Please evidence of the overcharging system the incompetent nairaland advanced Kazeem, that uses mostly Bosch equipment, fixed for me is attached... Bros please mention the name. No need if hiding his identity |

EMIOMOADEOYE: Your story is very misleading.
First of all you cannot earn 1.1million by starting a table with 140k.
To earn that amount you have to start a table with 400k
Secondly, if you started with 140k, you would have earned some money by the time your table breaks.
If you brought 2 people under you and your table has 6 people under you. please visit your backoffice. Your money is waiting for you there.
If anybody tells you that you have to bring 26 people before you earn, hear me loud and clear now...THAT IS TOTAL NONSENSE......Go to your backoffice....your money is waiting for you there.
That is assuming you did all you should do..... ie..bring your 2 and your 2 bring their own 2. Period
Probably what you did not understand well was the fact that you can earn 3 times. When you bring your 2 and they in turn bring their own 2, your table breaks and you earn. You will then move to the second cycle. In that second cycle you will start another table again automatically...no payments....and then you will wait for the people above you to earn and they come to join you on the second table. Onve it completes again.....you earn a second time.....and you begin a 3rd and final cycle.
With your 140k, you earn 3 time. Bu seeing that you paid 140k instead of the 110k normal price....I can tell you are one of the very many people who have approached this business the wrong way. Someone has told you to invest 140k and they would do all the work for you. I doubt you even have access to your backoffice.
Please before going public to cast aspersions on Swissgolden.....make sure that you did your own part. Its obvious that you did not. Please go back to the person that asked you to pay 140k and ask him why he has not delivered on his promise.
And please do all of us a favour....I need his name and phone number.....this matter needs to be taken up by Swissgolden. Its against company policy to solicit for additional moneys under the guise of doing work that ordinarily should be done by you. If you can get it, pleae add his ID too.
If you would like to give me a call to clarify things call 08171376796 EFCC Recovers N216m From “Swiss Golden” The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered a total of N216,402,565.05 (Two Hundred and Sixteen Million, Four Hundred and Two Thousand, Five Hundred Sixty Naira, Five Kobo) only from Swiss Golden Investment, an online investment that purportedly deals in buying and selling of Gold Bars. The recovery was sequel to a petition the Commission received from thousands of complainants who alleged that they invested in Swiss Golden Investment which was advertised as an online investment that deals with buying and selling of Gold Bars. The petitioner further alleged that after investing over a billion naira into the business, the company refused to pay them any dividend or pay them back their capital. Upon receipt of the petition, the Commission invited the petitioners and they volunteered statements. Through intelligence, the Commission picked up one Maxim Lobaty, a Russian and two Nigerians: Austin Emenike and Dickson Nonso Onuchukwu in Lagos. The trio were subsequently conveyed to the Kano operational zone of the EFCC for further investigation. Swiss Golden which is headquartered in Hong Kong was discovered through investigation to be a Ponzi scheme that was designed to defraud innocent victims of their hard earned money. After being drilled at the Commission's Kano Zonal Office, Maxim and his co-suspects consented to the refund of the investment. Subsequently, a total sum of N216, 402,565.05 (Two Hundred and Sixteen Million, Four Hundred and Two Thousand, Five Hundred Sixty Five Naira) only have now been recovered. However, while the investigation was on going, it was discovered that, Swiss Golden Company Limited has defrauded over seven thousand Nigerians to the tune of over N3,000,000,000 (Three Billion Naira) only. Investigation into the alleged fraud is still ongoing and all efforts are being made to recover the money involved and the alleged suspects be brought to justice. |

richmon74: I usually don't like commenting quickly on this kind of design posts for a couple of reasons. I usually allow others to do so first while I read. One of the reasons is that I don't usually comment is the fact that the actual applications from my experiences might differ very well from the theoretical designs.
Like Barezzi and c0ogumo has calculated for you, sometimes you will see that if you want to follow the actual dos and don'ts according to the theories you won't install solar.
As a man in the field, the truth is your configuration is perfectly ok for the real life practical application. You'll be shocked that you will hardly run your battery bank (which is theoretically incomplete) down to 50% as long as you have that amount of solar panels installed. This config will run off-grid without any stress. Reason being that you'll learn and adjust your load as time goes on.
Now for the question of if you have to use one cc. Just like I said before that if you want to do all that the solar theory says you won't install solar. The manufacturers of the CCs calculates the number of panels the cc can carry by the rated current carrying capacity and that is why Barezzi said you can load up to 15 panels. But the solar standards say you should leave a head room of about 30 to 40 percent on the cc current capacity meaning if you are using an 80A cc the max load on it should be in the region of 3kw as in your design.
In actual application, I have loaded 18 255W solar panels on an Outback FM80 charge controller (theoretically wrong) on more than one installation site and it works effectively. Why? The reason is simple, it is only very few minutes in very few days of the year that the power output from the panels will hit 100% and above (as in the case of Solarworld Panels) and in such cases the cc will simply clip the excess current and no harm is done to no one. Those moments are very few that they are insignificant. For the remaining larger part of the day/year the output power will remain within the region of 80% (that's about 76A) peak which is safe for your CC operating level.
In summary, you can install up to 18 panels on FM80 should you want to cut cost as you said.
Also remember to use professional accessories for all the stages to achieve a high efficiency.
Do not also forget to buy our Professional Solar Mounts (page 79 of this thread)
Hope this helps someone |
