I saw this video in as nnamdi hosted and preaching for peace in nigeria
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_-e20VWNKU UK
This is quite revealing; and if one takes it along with what Nnamdi Kanu's ex-gf was saying in another video also on YouTube regarding the man's real intentions behind his "directorship" and related more recent activities, both will have to add up to something. Hmm.

Thanks for the heads up, @OP.

Politics › Re: Nigeria Masses Must protest against PDP. Buhari Anti-Corruption war must succeed by duwdu:
tuale4u:
PDP Ideology: Steal and loot Government Treasury dry with impunity, “Rule of Law” will stop you from going to prison

The twisting of the meaning of “Rule of Law” to defend obvious corrupt public officials and treasury looters at the expense of Nigeria masses by PDP is getting to ridiculous and alarming level. One of the main reason of rule of law in the first place is to ensure individuals does not share and loot common wealth of a nation with impunity into individual pocket viz a viz other objectives. The aim of rule of law is to govern in the best way for the people. Therefore anybody who steals public fund is already guilty of breaking rule of law.

In Nigeria poor people who steal common goat in villages spend years in prison awaiting trials under PDP past governmentt and also under this APC government, I have never heard PDP trying to defend those poor thieves with rule of law!

According to wikepedia , “The rule of law is the legal principle that law should govern a nation, as opposed to being governed by arbitrary decisions of individual government officials. It primarily refers to the influence and authority of law within society, particularly as a constraint upon behavior, including behavior of government officials” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_law. So a public official who convert government money to personal money with impunity is already guilty of breaking rule of law. it is surprising and very ironical for the person to be hiding under the same rule of law he has destroyed to escape Justice. You cannot eat your cake and have it.

The current anti-corruption fight of president Buhari has fully complied with rule of law so far. This current government has a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) as a vice president. He understands all the loopholes in Nigeria constitution which rich, wealthy and influential Nigeria politicians and public officials use in escaping justice because of their ability to hire sound and good legal team with the looted fund from our common wealth. Then came this innovative prosecution method currently applied by federal government of Nigeria.

The new method of prosecution being applied by the federal government is explained as follows: If you steal yam, meat, egg, rice and the government is aware, they will arrest you for stealing only yam, sue you to court. In a month or two you procure bail for stealing yam. You get arrested and get sued for stealing meat. Maybe in another two months you get a bail, then you get arrested for stealing egg and the process continues. As this goes on, your resources goes down, the people willing to sign surety for you decrease since you may have to use different persons as surety in each case of bail. Also the fact that you are on bail only means you can come to court from your house it does not acquit or discharge you from the case. Thus you will be going to two or more courts at the same time. This will further weaken your resolve to continue to fight because of the huge resources and energy you will need to drag on the case. In doing this the government has fully complied with rule of law. This is what have been applied in the case of Dasuki and other cases. Buhari has not disobeyed any court order. Everything Buhari has done is legal.

The reason for the serious panic in PDP camp over Dasuki case is very simple. The case will implicate many top PDP members. Also Dasuki is a son of a former sultan of sokoto which make him a royalty and a prince, a Fulani like Buhari, a former army colonel. If Dasuki can be jailed with all his influence, it means it will be difficult for any other person to escape being jailed. All the noise about dictatorship, fascism, tyranny, totalitarianism, abuse of power, abuse of rule of law, etc by PDP is just out of frustration. This is because the size of the loophole they were relying on has been strongly reduced.

For all those who claim Buhari is no saint and as such should not fight corruption should go and have their head examined. I agree he is no saint. But there is no country in the world ruled by saints. If other countries like United State, China, France have succeded in reducing corruption in their countries by sinful men who are not saint, then Buhari is qualified to fight corruption. Except we want God to come down from heaven himself to come and fight Nigeria corruption.

For the first time in a very long time in Nigeria history, we have a president who is passionate and focus in reducing corruption in Nigeria. We the Nigeria masses must support him so that he will have the courage and energy to continue this fight. In the long run, the beneficiary of this fight is the common man like me and you. We must not allow people who have abused us, trampled upon us, and oppressed us to deceive us with grammar in order to go away scot free despite all the heavy atrocity they have committed.

For those crying to Barrack Obama, I tell you, United States is even tougher than Buhari on issues of national security and placing people in custody without trials. Barrack Obama has ordered killing of America citizens with drones without trial. There are American Citizens in Guantanemo bay detention and other detention faciities in US and outside the US without trial for months and years. Below is prove from Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_detainees_at_Guantanamo_Bay

Corruption is considered National Security Issue. Anti-corruption fight is a war and we the masses should see it as such. it is a fight for our common good and well being.

Again, well done with your write ups, @tuale4u.

Your write ups, along with those of PassingShot and others whose monikers I can't immediately reel off of my head, as well as some of the more recent major posts by Tonyebarcanista, all just rhyme with my sensibilities; and I appreciate that you guys are imbibed with such articulating gifts - as well as the zeal - with which to propagate them.

You guys are certainly helping, not just to blunt the nasty propaganda and misinformation that are being championed mostly by elements in cohorts with key players in the immediate past administration, but to also educate and win hearts to the definitely noble intentions of the current government.

Once again, well done.

Politics › Re: Igbo Marginalisation is a Big lie and just a Propaganda. by duwdu: 9:51pm On Jan 01, 2016
tuale4u:
There has been a lot of shout of marginalisation by South East part of Nigeria since after May 29th, 2015. This is a lie that have been said too long which is now looking like true because others have refused to come out and correct this big lie. I will like to address most of the points use in spreading this lie. What we have in Nigeria is tribal competition and not Marginalisation.

1. They Claim Igbo need to score like 70% while the North need to score 5% to gain admission to Federal govt Secondary School

This point is highly flawed. First of all, the requirement of high cut off mark for admission in Federal govt Secondary School is not limited to South East. South west (Yoruba) and South South also require high cut off to gain same admission. This in itself is not marginalization. This in itself is an inclusion policy in order to ensure the educational weak North still have access to Federal govt College. Despite the cut off differences, South east, south west and south south still dominate the federal govt colleges admission. I believe it would have been marginalisation if we subject the north to the the same cut off as us in the south. Because they would not have been able to compete because they are weak in educational capacity. Policy of inclusion and diversity is a global practice. Multinationals companies are compelled to include people of all race, disability, religion, sexual orientation and gender in their workforce. This is a United Nation mandate. This means there is a minimum percentage of a group of people that must be in the workforce even if there are more capable people in another group to fill up the space. A society that have no space for the weak is not a fair and just society.

2. The North dominate Federal Civil Service due to quota system

This is another big lie. It has been proven than Imo State has the highest number of federal civil servant followed by Ogun state in Nigeria. By geopolitical zone, south west has the highest, followed by south south in second position and south east in third position. The three northern geopolitical zone are the bottom three. The only thing I may agree with is that some northerners may have risen faster than some of their southern colleagues. However this has been highly corrected in the last 16 years of Democracy. In the last 16years the South has been in Position of President for 13years and the North 3years. As at May 29th, 2015 there were more permanent secretaries of southern origin than northerners. Currently the head of civil service is a southern woman from Cross river State.

3. Federal road in South east are bad because of marginalization.

This is another lie. Marginalization is not responsible for bad state of south east federal road. Two factors are responsible. Soil type and corruption. In the last 16years almost all the ministers of work have been from south south. From Tony Anenih, to odion Ugbesia to Mike Onolimemhen. Who among this people will want to marginalised south east? To bring my point home on the issue of soil type and corruption, Onitsha -Owerri road was completed less than 8years ago, today the road is already dilapidated. if you spend the same money used for that road in a northern road, it will last 20years or more. Instead of the contractors to do the road by putting the soil type into consideration, because of corruption the roads are poorly done and money are pocketed. If you go and find out who the contractors are you will discover that there are a lot of southerners involve in sharing the money.

4. South east is marginalized because of Unemployment and poverty
This is another twisted statement. I believe there are more poverty and unemployment in the North than in the South. The truth is that unemployment in Nigeria is a national problem. There is poverty everywhere in Nigeria. Unemployed youth are all over the country.

5. There are more northerners in NNPC than Southerners
This is another big lie. There are no more northerners in NNPC. Actually there are slightly more southerners in NNPC. NNPC usually recruit many of their staffs by quota system. Today we have 19 northern states and 17 southern state. This will make it appear you will have slighty more northerners. This may be true before 1999. But since Gaus Obaseki from Edo state became NNPC GMD, he changed the recruitment structure. While about 60% of recruitment are still base on quota system, about 40% are base on merit. This has greatly changed the statistics of NNPC staffs. And also in general in the Oil and gas industries, more than 70% of the staffs are southerners. Yoruba and Igbo dominate the oil and gas industry in Nigeria. Those of us from south south even feel marginalized by Yoruba and Igbo when it come to oil and gas Job

6. South east is marginalised because they have five(5) states while others have six (6) states.
This is more of political competition than marginalization. About 13 Northern states each are bigger in size than all the South East states combined. Kogi state is the 13th biggest state in Nigeria. Kogi State size is 29833km sq. If you add up the size of all the south east state it is 29095km sq. Thus the whole south east combined is approximately the same size with Oyo State, the 14th biggest state in Nigeria. The whole of south east is one-third of South south. The argument mostly put forward by Igbo on this topic is that state should be shared by population only and size should not be considered. With the small size of south east in relative to other region, south east is suppose to have maximum of 3 states. It is the consideration of the population and their political strength that makes it 5 states. I believe the population has been strongly considered.

7. Igbo Presidency
This is another area where you hear plenty lie on marginalization propanganda. In other to fully discuss this issue we need to look at Nigeria history briefly. In the beginning of Independence in 1960, Nigeria politics was dominated by Igbo and Hausa/Fulani. The Yoruba were the one who were playing Opposition. From 1960 to 1966 before the first coup, Nigeria federal govt was more Hausa and Igbo government at the centre. While Tafawa balewa was prime minister , Nnamdi Azikiwe was President (though ceremonial but he was number one citizen of the country). Then came the first coup which made Igbo man the First Military head of State of Nigeria. After that, it became from one coup to another which was dominated by the North. This in itself was not marginalization. It was simply dog eat dog affair and purely military affair and power struggle. Then came democracy in 1979 to 1983, this again became Hausa and Igbo government. Yoruba was now the opposition. after that came coup. Yes the military govt became northern dominated. but I cant call it marginalization because this were simply power struggle among opportunist. Then came 1999 and democracy. There was a kind of gentleman agreement or understanding of power sharing from south to North. We must understand that the power sharing was not by geopolitical zone but by region. Obasanjo who is from south did 8 years, the govt moved to North in the name of Yar adua. from North it came to south through Jonathan who did approximately 6 years. From Jonathan it went to the North through Buhari. If Buhari do his 8 years it will come to the South again in 2023. This in itself have been very fair and just. Nigeria democracy from 1999 has been fair to both North and South. By 2023, South East need to play the right politics for them to get presidency in 2023. Because 2023 presidency is for the south not for the south east. As far as the Northern part of Nigeria is concern, 2023 should be southern presidency. The truth is that South East, South West and South South will compete for it. Nobody will just give you the presidency just like that without you playing the right politics. If Igbo continue to make almost every other part of Nigeria their enemy, south south or south west will get 2023 presidency. Should South west or South South win 2023 presidency nobody can call it marginalization. It is the same Igbo that are claiming marginalization who are Supporting Wike an Ikwrere man in Rivers state. From Omehia, to Amaechi to Wike are all Ikwerre. Yet the greatest supporters of Wike are Igbo in rivers state. This is one big hippocracy. Just as I said, losing in a political competition is not marginalization. Wike (upland) winning dakuku (riverine) is not marginalization but political competition.

In summary, there is only one form of marginalization in Nigeria. That is the marginalization of the masses by the political class. Where the political class eat fat while the masses are left to die in squalor.
This is a well reasoned post. Thank you for factually and properly articulating the issues involved, @OP; couldn't have said them any better myself.

Politics › Re: No Tribe Is Marginalised In Nigeria Fr Mbaka - Dailypost by duwdu: 8:29pm On Jan 01, 2016
tuale4u:
Fiery Enugu based cleric, the Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has raised the alarm over the plan by some unnamed persons to kill President Muhammadu Buhari. Mbaka, who is known for his controversial prophecies, is the head of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu Nigeria.

DAILY POST recalls that he had in his 2015 New Year message entitled ‘From Goodluck to Badluck’, prophecised that former President Goodluck Jonathan would be roundly defeated in the 2015 presidential elections. On a similar note, the charismatic in his 2016 New Year message, which he delivered before millions of worshipers in Enugu Friday morning raised the alarm over plans to kill Buhari owing to his anti- corruption posture. He equally accused Jonathan of killing Nigeria after which he handed over the skeleton to Buhari’s government.

DAILY POST captured some of the cardinal points of his message to Nigerians below:

“No matter how malignant the problem is, Godsays He will be in charge; fellow Nigerians, let us wait upon God; I have a new message; I’m blessing and covering the message we are giving now in the prophetic name of Jesus; Father speak now as your servant listens.
“In 2013, there was a prophecy that was going to be an oil doom after several years of oil boom, and when that message came out of this ground, many started calling me a prophet of doom. How can there be oil doom in oil boom? And the oil price continued to climb, but the message said people should start to gather as in the days of Joseph, that the people in government should continue to gather, let them stop squandering our wealth; but they never listened; throughout the six years we passed in the past administration, God blessed our oil with high prices, over $140 per barrel, but the message kept coming, don’t mind the oil boom, there is going to be oil doom, our politicians stop embezzling our wealth but they said the money will continue to come, our oil will continue to flow.

“During these moments of the oil boom, there was excess crude money, they didn’t know what to do with our money, when our youths were suffering and still suffering, graduates had no jobs, new industries were not built, our roads were not reconstructed, our hospitals were in shambles and total collapse; our educations systems were in shambles and these politicians were building good schools outside the country, Ghana, etc, even hospitals in South-Africa, and other neighbouring countries and when any of them is sick he will be flown outside the country because there is no hospital in the country worthy of authentic medication, you cannot find any country in Nigeria that has worthy diagnostic facilities; not one; the entire money voted for hospitals were looted out, corruption was in quantum, to the level that the Nigerian Bishops had to convene a prayer against bribery and corruption and enjoined all Catholics to be praying that prayer daily.

“All the money voted for roads were swindled; many of them became millionaires, billionaires over night in naira, in dollars, in pounds, in euro when they have no workshop; no business centre; somebody who has nothing doing, just because he is a politician, and they wasted our oil money, now the doom came and there is no preparation for it; the economy of Nigeria is an oil based economy.

“My beloved Nigerians, those who led us from last year downwards, they have killed this country; none of them is qualified to stay in this country by now, both the President, the Senators, the Reps, the chairmen of Local governments, the governors, they are wicked; it doesn’t matter the man of God they worship with; I tell you, before God and man, all of them are wicked; they hate this country, they succeeded in removing the liver, kidney and cardio vascular system of this country, and handed over to President Buhari, shambles, skeletal organs of this country; a nation that is comatic.

“Nigeria, as we speak now, economically, security wise is in the intensive care unit; if the oxygen is removed, Nigeria will die, people of God prayed, from here and there and God gave us Buhari. God has told us that Buhari is prayer answered; President Buhari is an answered prayer; whether you hate him or like him, Buhari is prayer answered; the Bishops of Nigeria, the Catholic Bishops prayed against bribery and corruption and this President came with a charter that has to dowith war against corruption; all the prayers we have been doing about bribery and corruption, God answered it in Buhari who decided not to discriminate; there is nothing like religious or political discrimination in Buhari’s government.

He needs all the support, unstoppable support; spiritual and otherwise; because if he is not the man in power now, had it been the last regime continued, by now, Nigeria would be for sale. All the monies voted to buy this and but that few people stole it; but we see joblessness, many have died because of a few people, and these same people want to use you to engineer crisis that Igbos are marginalized, nobody is marginalized; nobody marginalized us;

“I am not a sycophant; but I want to tell you that so far God is happy and he who God has blessed none can cause. Many people are planning to kill Buhari; there are many plans on how to eliminate his life so that corruption will continue; so that embezzlement will continue. But I speak to Buhari that God who put you there will protect you; be firm, remain resolute, don’t be intimidated; President Buhari God and his people are behind you, you are the answer to the prayer of His people. “Can you eat your cake and still have it? Our past looters, not leaders, you may not understand, thieves in political positions, have eaten the cake of this country and now everybody is suffering it; the youths are suffering it, they want to tell you that you are marginalized; the Yorubas are not marginalized; the Hausas are not marginalized, Efik people are not marginalized; and it is only you people that are marginalized. In the present political scenario, the Igbos have the position of minister for external affairs in the person of Onyeama; the Igbo people have the position of science and tech in the person of Ogbonnaya Onu; if you go to Abia, you have industry and commerce, coming back to Anambra you have labour and productivity and the problem of our country today is unemployment and once there is job, there will be no kidnapping.

The Igbos in the North are doing well; the Igbos in the West too, go to Alaba, they are treated with kindness, why are we engineering things that don’t exist; and like I said before, those saying this have their children abroad and they want to use you. “Listen fellow Nigerians, as it is right now, most of what we are suffering now and we are going to suffer were caused few years ago but the Lord asked me to encourage you. Suffering is coming but it is not suffering under damnation, there is solution, it may take some time, but at the end of it, there will be testimony; Nigeria is the giant of Africa, Nigeria is the best country in this world; with the best weather; the country that produces the most strongest people; people who can survive everywhere, people who can relate with any type of person, people who can survive any type of weather- Nigerians; people who can prosper anywhere; the destiny, the dynasty, the authority, the destiny, what it takes to make Nigeria great is restored this year. “As I have told you, there is going to be crisis but God will handle it. This year, God said my people will be over-comers, things will be hard but my people will be over-comers”

Education › Re: Ban Of Naira Atm Usage Abroad – A Perfect Way Forward. by duwdu: 9:29pm On Dec 30, 2015
IbXavier:
By : Apena Ibrahim Adeboye

This is a personal analysis which is subjected to empirically backed criticism.

As at 7th of December 2015, Naira to dollar stood at ₦250 to $1, which was the highest fall of Naira to Dollar in history (Reference 1). As at today 28th of December, 2015, Naira to dollar stands at ₦197 to $1 (Reference 2), this shows there is an improvement.

All the same, have you ever asked why the value of Naira keeps dropping its value, Have you ever imagine if exchange rate of naira to dollar stands at ₦500 to $1, Did you make research on why use of NAIRA ATM abroad was ban ? (Kindly read reference 4 to know why). All these will help us understand the effect of the Ban of Naira ATM usage outside Nigeria.

It’s no news that some Nigerians in Diaspora are working towards protesting against the ban of Naira ATM abroad, especially those studying. With due respect, it's shameful that some Students who schooled or are schooling outside the country, especially those who offered or are offering business related courses do not understand why the inability to use Naira ATM outside Nigeria will be better off in the long run. Let’s kindly visit Economics as a course before complaining, though I am not an economics expert but I will apply the fair knowledge I have by the grace of God.

Let’s start with a simple analysis, this analysis will focus mainly on those schooling outside Nigeria;

SCENARIO ONE
Schooling Abroad and its effect on Naira. (Nigerians Schooling in Ghana as a case study)
The case study below is used for about 200,000 Nigerians schooling in Ghana, according to statistical fact (Reference 3)
Scenario Effect on Naira & Nigeria economy
1. Average School fees for a student per year ₦400,000_ Naira Out , Nothing In ,
2. Accommodation for about ₦100,000_ Naira Out , Nothing In,
3. Living expense of about ₦300,000 _ Naira Out , Nothing In,
Total expenses incurred by a Foreign trained Nigerian annually _₦800,000 Out, Nothing In.

Cost for 200,000 students per year ₦160,000,000,000 (₦160B)
Total expenses in 4 years ₦640,000,000,000 Out, Nothing In

Note:
Living expenses of 200,000 foreign trained in Ghana alone for a year is about ₦60,000,000,000 (₦60B)

Over 200,000 Nigerian were schooling in Ghana as at 2013.
(Reference 3)
SCENARIO TWO
1. Mr Ade imports phone to sell in Nigeria with about ₦100,000 each.
2. A student who schools in Ghana left this phone to buy the same worth of phone in Ghana.
EFFECT OF SCENARIO TWO
1. ₦100,000 gone out of Nigeria, ₦100,000 worth of Phone Imported (balanced)
2. ₦100,000 worth of phone ignored by student, yet such student took another ₦100,000 out of Nigeria to buy same phone in Ghana without any return to Nigeria. This means Nigeria has lost 100,000 to the Ghana Market despite having such product in Nigeria. Funny enough, if such phone is stolen before such student gets back to Nigeria, it means such student has made Ghana economy ₦100,000 better.

In one semester, an average Nigerian Schooling in Ghana must have spent about 800,000 of Nigerian currency in Ghana. Assuming we have about 200,000 Nigerians schooling in Ghana, it means about ₦160B is spent in Ghana education system within a year without any monetary return for Nigeria. Assuming this 160B is invested in Business , it would have been better because we would get goods in return for such chunk of money going out of the country , bear in mind that there are a lot of Nigerian students scattered around the world, Just imagine how much schooling abroad alone is taking out of Nigerian economy annually, imagine how much money spent on luxurious items , Health and so on in Ghana and other countries, Trillions of Naira. Have you imagined what it would look like if these monies are invested in our educational sector? That by the way.

After schooling abroad, some of the foreign trained do not even think of coming back to create jobs in the country, they rather think of coming back to earn from a white collar job, having used their certificate to bully home trained Nigerian Graduates. Does this really justify the huge amount spent on education outside Nigeria, Though, it’s a fact that knowledge must have been acquired and one can spend as much as possible to acquire knowledge.

As an average Nigerian Schooling outside the country, it’s normal to feel very bad when such news is broken (Ban of Naira ATM abroad). However, it will be a big disgrace to jump up to protest over it without understanding what is being protested about.
The question is simple ,
1. Do we prefer the value of naira to keep falling while we have access to spend naira anyhow outside Nigeria or we reduce the amount of naira going out and maintain a valuable naira.
2. The amount of Nigerians in diaspora are not up to 20% of those in Nigeria, thus , do we suffer those in Nigeria for the happiness of those in Diaspora or those who travel out to flex on vacation.

Imagine you wake up one day to see the exchange rate of naira to dollar standing at 500 Naira to 1 Dollar, Do you think it will be easy for parents to pay fees abroad.

SUGGESTIONS
1. Students schooling or intending to school abroad should rather think of how government can help in providing a means for students to transfer their school fees and money for upkeep. Though, this should be regulated, but not to protest over the Ban of ATM usage Abroad. NANS Excos and other student activist abroad should get to work on how to get alternatives for students to get money abroad. Who knows , students might be allowed to use Naira ATM abroad but lets consider the effect.
2. Most traveling outside Nigeria , especially within African countries should stop the habit of taking naira out to buy what can be bought in Nigeria , eg Phones , Laptop e.t.c
3. This is also the best avenue to challenge the government to work on the educational sector of Nigeria so that Nigerians will stop wasting chunk of money on schooling outside. In Ghana alone, Nigerians spends about 160,000,000,000 on education. The question is ;
a. How many people come to Nigeria to study or spend such money?
b. How many countries appreciate the monies spent by Nigerians in their economy.
Thus, if government won’t allow free usage of Naira ATM for students, then, they should provide alternatives or better our education system by scrapping JAMB and POST JAMB.

RECOMMENDATIONS TO LEARNED COLLEAGUES
Please let's apply what we learnt in school. When we spend more of our currency to import without Export, the value of Naira will keep dropping. So let’s plead to government to rather work on a policy to support fees payment and up keep money for students schooling abroad, also for business men. Also why are we not thinking of business we can do in abroad , afterwards , we send the little money you earn to Nigerian banks.

CONCLUSION
This literally mean , we are giving out without receiving except from petrol which is our major source of income , NB , price of Petrol is also dropping. If you give out without receiving you must reduce in whatever you have. This is one of the reasons why naira is dropping value. Therefore, ban of Naira ATM use outside Nigeria is a good policy. I don’t care who the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria is but I salute him/her for this. At least , this Policy should be maintained till Naira can be equivalent to about ₦100 – $1 dollars. If buhari Claims to take ₦1-$1, Do we think he will just perform Miracles, these are some of the ways to achieve it. Lets think of what to do so that others will come and spend or invest in our economy, However, there should be a way out for those who genuinely need to use the ATM outside Nigeria (Businessmen, students and likes ) Surely Politicians and those who pay visit to other countries Should be totally BANNED from use of Naira ATM abroad, amount taken out of Nigeria should be regulated.

This write up is not in any way to support any political party but for the betterment of Nigeria. Change and betterment will not occur if we won’t pay the price, ABOVE ALL, THIS IS A TEMPORARY MEASURE FOR THE SAKE OF STABILIZING THINGS. It is mainly geared towards those who spend naira on luxurious stuffs abroad.

Thank you for reading, comments to enlighten me are welcomed.

This write up makes perfect sense, thank you for doing this, OP!

Actually, and as far as I am concerned, anybody - particularly individual, private Nigerians - who wants to do any personal business abroad - including ordinary schooling - should by themselves source for the foreign component of the funds that will be required to undertake such a venture. After all, such people are relatively elite and could afford it (that is, are richer than the average Nigerian,) that's why they could produce the money anyways.

So, why rob poor Peter to pay rich Paul? In other words, why release the limited resources we have in the form of incoming earnings in foreign currencies to few, already rich individuals to spend on themselves abroad, instead of using such earnings to buy/bring in machinery and other goods that are not available locally, develop our industries and infrastructure, and by extension provide education and other resources to our teeming populace, to mention just a few?

Mehn, the policy should not be temporary; this opportunity should be used to permanently steer the society towards realizing that, if we want to truly develop internally, we should not be reaping/spending where we are not sowing/earning. Period.

tuale4u:
Why EFCC "Selective" witchhunt On PDP Members Best for Nigeria right now.

I have read and heard from many people and PDP sympathizers that the current Buhari anti corruption drive is selective and Bias.

I totally agree it is selective. but I don't agree that it is bias. And there is nothing wrong in it being selective as long as the reason is the best for the country for now. Because I strongly believe it is the best thing and the best way to fight corruption in Nigeria for now. My reasons are as follows:

1. The anti corruption fight is currently concentrated on corruption at the federal level. Buhari anti corruption war is currently not active on state level and former governors. Since federal government was fully controlled by PDP in the last 16years, most corruption at federal level is PDP affair.

2. Buhari greatest interest is to recover fund. The best thing to do in this regard is to concentrate on areas where he can recover the highest amount of stolen fund. And that is federal government and are mostly PDP members.

3. It is almost impossible to prosecute all corrupt cases in Nigeria. So the need to give priority to those with the highest amount and easiest to prosecute. Thus corrupt cases with highest return are within the PDP

4. currently the NSA is the main focus of the anti corruption war at the moment. The reason being because of the amount of money involve and because Buhari govt believe they can recover some billions from the former NSA. Since the former NSA used most of the money for election affair, it is natural that majority of people involve are PDP members

5. maybe in the next two years when the anti corruption war go to state level, some APC members will be prosecuted.

6. We should also recognized that the govt has limited resources and personnel to fight the anti corruption war. so the need to select those that will give the highest impact per resources utilized.

7. It will be very naïve, unwise and stupid for Buhari to focus on corrupt practice of APC members right now. His govt is too young for that. he cannot fight everybody at once even if he wishes to . His govt will crumble if he try that right now. He need to run the govt with Nigerians not aliens. Almost every Nigerian that have held political office has skeleton in their cupboard. thus many APC members have corrupt past. But however this is not the best time for him to open APC members files. Doing that right now will be stupidity and naïve and will be bad for the country. Ability to select the best fight to fight at a time is wisdom and leadership.

8. It may appear unfair to PDP members. but to the Nigeria masses I believe it is fair. PDP were not fair to the masses when they were stealing our treasury dry. I strongly believe all the persons who stole are common wealth should be brought to book. Whether they are APC or PDP. However, since we cant do all in one day, we must start from somewhere and from those that will give the highest return and impact.

9.The fact that the anti corruption war is currently ignoring APC members does not mean the war is not sincere. It is only a pragmatic approach to a complex problem. When you have a lot of complex problem to solve, you ranked it and choose where to start from. That is currently what is going on.

10. The truth is that all the people who are shouting witch-hunting, "selective", "vendetta" want the anti corruption war to fail. If I have access to Buhari, I will tell him to completely ignore them. Those people want him to fight on all front so that he will lose and then come back to mock him.

11. I know some people will come and say it is hippocracy to currently ignore people like Tinubu etc in the anti-corruption war. But I choose to disagree with them. it is not hippocracy but pragmatism. Even if Buhari have an intention to open Tinubu files, this is not the best time to do it. That can wait for much later. A leader must focus on National interest. it will not be in the interest of Nigeria for tinubu files to be opened at this time should he have corrupt cases. Timing is a major component of decision making and leadership. if you do the right thing at wrong time, it is as good as a wrong thing. GEJ had the opportunity to jail Tinubu since PDP supporters keep making reference to him as corrupt man, yet GEJ could not. Tinubu was tried for corruption by code of conduct Bureau under GEJ govt. Tinubu won the case. Now you PDP supporters now think it is Buhari who Tinubu used his so called "corrupt money according to PDP supporters" to sponsor should now be the one to jail him!!! That is the worst form of hippocracy I have ever heard of.

12.I also know some people will argue about Atiku, Obasanjo etc and say why are they not being tried also. Just as I explain earlier, it is much easier to trace fund, files and documents of corrupt practice done in the last 4years than those done in the last 8 or 16years. So it is only practical to concentrate on the last 4 years at the moment. To me, this is wisdom.

13 We need to understand the post is not saying that APC members and older leaders (atiku, OBJ etc) corrupt practice should be ignored. The post is only talking about now. Which is at this current time (t), it is very wise to focus on immediate past PDP govt because it will benefit Nigeria as country more than doing otherwise right now. In the future, the anti corruption drive can spread to others. But now is not the time .

14. The fact that it may not be wise to look at past corrupt act of top APC members right now does not mean Buhari should tolerate massive corruption from his cabinet or ministers. Buhari must ensure any looting under his govt is not tolerated. Should any member of his cabinent be found wanting of corruption under his current govt, the person should be punished with no mercy.

15. I agree this is not the ideal case since everybody are equal before the law in ideal situation. but it is still better than GEJ mindset, who believe that since he cannot jail all corrupt people, everybody should go free. In his mind he was being fair. The truth is that, that was one of the greatest Injustice Jonathan did to Nigerian masses. That empowered every political leader to steal without any fear of consequence.
GEJ mindset was corruption did not start with me and so it is not me that will fight it.

16. As we hope for the best, we should appreciate what is better than the past. The more we the masses support Buhari anti corruption war, the bolder he will be in fighting it. The bolder he become the less selective he will become and the more APC members will be prosecuted.
I fully agree with your definition and application of pragmatism. APC was never near the national purse, certainly not in the immediate past five years, and that was when the most mindless and irresponsible looting ever in the history of this country, took place.

The hanging fruits from the pockets of those who obviously just stole us dry, should be plucked and put to good use in the Nation's interest. That, clearly, is what Buhari has embarked on presently. I just happen to think he will largely succeed.

The current law on the administration of criminal justice, calls for daily, continuous, uninterrupted (even by the Supreme Court) trial of criminal cases. What happened at the Supreme Court that led to the current hold in the continuation of trial with respect to the Saraki ICT case, is an aberration, and The Supreme Court Justices appear to have realized that. I believe it will be corrected, never for such illegal delays to happen again.

Consequently, look for upcoming corruption/criminal cases to be concluded much faster than has traditionally been the case in Nigeria. Fast, as in, between 6 and 18 months for each case to clear fully through the legal system, including the Supreme Court. Contrast this with the situation hitherto whereby each such case would take anything/anywhere/anytime from 5/10 years to infinity!

That's my considered take, given the current atmosphere, especially the political angle. And I pray to The Almighty it comes to pass.

Mr. President, please keep moving in your current direction.

Politics › Re: Exclusive-Understanding The Whole Shia-Army Battle by duwdu: 1:19pm On Dec 27, 2015
LordVarys:
.The Events Of 12th December 2015

There are several versions of what happened on that day, what led to what happened, and what was just justified or not in what happened. I have listened to first hand briefings from all sides, i.e the Army’s, the Shia’s, people who were neither with the Army or the Shias but were present at the scene.  And I have watched multiple videos of the incident many of which will never be released to the public domain. Whatever conclusions I have reached here, I have reached after careful analysis and a sincere attempt to understand all that transpired on that day. I may be right or completely wrong, I may never know as I was not a participant or a decider in these events, but my work here as been done in good faith.

On the 11th of December 2015, the Shias and the Sufis of the Tijjaniyyah Tariqah engaged in fighting after changes were made in the leadership of a mosque which was jointly controlled by them. This was in a small village just outside Zaria. The fighting involved the use of sticks, knives and machetes on both sides. Surprisingly, the Army (not the Police which has first jurisdiction in such incidents) appeared on the scene, and in the attempt to control the situation, killed three Shia youths. Now accounts of this incident are hotly disputed.

The Nigerian Army insists that its soldiers were threatened and used live ammunition to defend themselves from the fighters, killing the three Shias in the process. The Shias denounce this account as lies, and insist that the soldiers did not attempt to disperse the fight, rather they opened fire only on the Shias. The Sufis say that the Army did attempt to disperse the fight, but that the Shias were adamant and resisted the military’s efforts to disperse the fight, following which the soldiers opened fire. Whatever the truth was, three Shias were killed, and tensions rose as the community remembered how the same Army killed over 35 of their number just last year, including three sons of Zakzaky.

The next morning, the  Shias began a procession, protesting their deaths the night before. While on their way through Zaria town, they were informed that the Chief Of Army Staff, Lt.Gen Tukur Buratai was on his way through the town, and they thus proceeded to block his path.

They were armed with nothing except sticks and stones at this time, which would  not have been enough to overpower the COAS’s security detail or smash through his bulletproof vehicle body. However the Shias blocked the road, with the the overt intent of protesting to the COAS, the killing of three of their number the previous night by the Nigerian Army.

The Shias did not initially attack the convoy of the Chief Of Army Staff, instead they were chanting and refusing passage. The initial reaction of the COAS’s escort personel was to prepare to open fire, this was only averted by an officer (seen in the video) who was screaming hysterically “Don’t shoot! don’t shoot!”.

The officer then proceeded to demand and subsequently plead that the Shias open the road and allow the COAS’s convoy through, but the Shias refused to do so unless they address the COAS himself, accusing him and the Army of deliberately oppressing their sect and seeking to exterminate them. The Officer did not acknowledge their demands, but rather kept insisting that they first clear the road and allow the convoy through. When he kept dismissing their angry protests of the killings the night before of three Shias by the Army, and the killings of over 35 Shias in 2014 again by the Army, the Shia youths began to stone the convoy and increased the tempo of the shouts. Shortly thereafter, the soldiers opened fire on orders said to have been given by a senior officer in the convoy. The crowd scattered and people began to run helter-skelter, but the soldiers fanned out systematically spraying the area the Shia protesters were fleeing to with live rounds. Shortly thereafter, reinforcements arrived, on both sides. Armed Shias who had rushed to arm up from the sect’s caches in Gyallesu and other areas of Zaria on hearing that their brothers were under attack, rushed in and met military reinforcements rushing to beef up the COAS’s security detail, and provide a safe exit for the COAS. Gunfire was exchanged on both sides. By the time the smoke cleared, between thirty and forty people lay dead, most of them Shias.

At some minutes past 7pm, Shia sources say that Ibrahim Az-Zakzaky was informed that the Nigerian Army was making preparations to storm Gyallesu and kill him.

The Shia leader was advised to go into hiding by his closest advisors, and he initially resisted the idea but ultimately he was pressured by his advisors to accede to this advice.

From 6pm, military units drawn from Kaduna, Abuja and Kano began pouring into Zaria, amongst them elements of the 176 special forces battalion of the Brigade of Guards, which according to the senior military intelligence officer, was given the responsibility of leading the door-to-door assault operations .

Sometime after 9pm, the Army finished encircling the neighbourhood for the most part and launched its assault. The orders given to the soldiers were simple, use maximum force, terminate with extreme prejudice anyone deemed to pose any sort of threat to the soldiers, except designated persons who were to be captured alive if possible.

The military’s assault on Gyallesu was met with armed resistance contrary to what is widely believed, and some soldiers may likely have perished. While the assault was ongoing, Shias in Zaria called Shia youths in Zango area of Kaduna telling them that Mallam was under attack, the Army was searching specifically for mallam, and that God Would ask the Shias of Zango, Tudun Wada, Kaduna if they did not rush to aid Mallam (meaning Zakzaky), and instead abandoned him like Al-Hussain was abandoned at Karbala. Over 120 young men I can confirm left Tudun Wada, Kaduna that night headed for Zaria, none of them returned. It is believed they died in the fighting at Gyallesu.

Sometime in the morning the next day 13th December 2015, the soldiers finally battled their way to Zakzaky’s house where they captured the younger Turi, Mahmud Turi who was tortured according to eyewitness accounts from both sides, and refused to betray where Zakzaky’s location was. Seeing that he was of no practical use to them in finding Zakzaky, the commander of the detachment that captured Turi radioed for orders, and was given the order which he passed on to his men, to kill Mahmud Turi. Turi was riddled with bullets and his body bagged and tagged along with the bodies of other top members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria. These bodies are now believed to be in the custody of the Army’s Directorate of Military Intelligence.

One of Zakzaky’s sons was executed in front of the house also, and according to eyewitnesses on both sides, Zeenat, Zakzaky’s wife, was inside the house along with many other people, when it was brought down by the special forces operators.

[According to the senior military intelligence officer whose account of how Zakzaky was found was corroborated by other senior officials in the national security establishment, Zakzaky was found by the DMI Signals Intelligence Division who tracked the call Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai made to Zakzaky that day. Was the governor aware that his call was to Zakzaky was tracked? this remains unclear.

What is clear is that Zakzaky’s location was triangulated using that call, and that shortly thereafter, troops drawn from the crack 145 Battalion arrived in the area the Shia leader was holed up,  with elements of the Nigerian Navy’s Special Boat Service said to be assisting.

There was a firefight, and Zakzaky was shot six times (according to what was attributed to the doctor who first treated Zakzaky at 1 Division’s medical centre before he was moved to 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital where he was operated upon and then moved again) before he was dragged out of the hole/bunker in which he had sought refuge.

Was The Army’s Actions In Zaria Planned?

The answer is yes and no. What happened in Zaria was not initially planned, but it gave the necessary pretext the Nigerian military establishment needed to activate its operational plan to demonize, decapitate and dismantle the Zakzaky-led Islamic Movement of Nigeria, before it grows too big to handle.

The road block incident in my opinion falls into one of two categories:

It was a staged encounter, the Shias were baited and lured there and the pretext needed to activate the plan was encouraged to be created there. It could perhaps be argued that the killing of the Shias the night before, the leaking of the COAS’s ETA and travel route, and the making sure there were cameras around to record certain scenes, were part of a grand conspiracy to ensure that a necessary pretext was generated from that incident.
It was not staged, but it was hijacked and manipulated to create the necessary pretext for the military establishment to launch its attempt to dismantle the Islamic Movement of Nigeria led by Zakzaky.
Whatever the case, somewhere along the line, while the incident of the roadblock was ongoing, it was decided by someone or some people to initiate this plan.

Aftermath

Casualties

I believe the Human Rights Watch was extremely conservative in its estimate of the number of people that died in this fighting. A more realistic figure would be closer to a thousand, probably 700 or more. This is going by the number of people missing, reported to have been killed etc from Shia sources. The number of Shias from Zango, Tudun Wada, Kaduna and from Unguwar Mu’azu, Kaduna that went to Gyallesu the night of 12th December, and are believed to have perished in the fighting there, alone pass the 150 mark.

A large number of the Shias killed in Gyallesu were young men, followed by women and then children caught in the cross-fire. The men were deliberately targeted. After it became clear that vetting combatant young men from non-combatant young men in the heat of fighting was not possible. Many more were summarily executed in the search for Zakzay, including three of Zakzaky’s sons.

Detainees

Hundreds of Shias are said to be held in detention in military facilites across Kaduna, and Kano states. They are being kept in appalling conditions, and there is frankly no direction on what to do with them

Zakzaky

The case of Az-Zakzaky is a complex one. He was first taken from Zaria to 1 Division Headquarters, Kawo, Kaduna where he was given first aid at the medical centre there. However due to his gun shot wounds which included shrapnel in his face (there are credible rumours that he may have lost an eye),  he was moved to 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Tudun Wada, Kaduna, where he was operated upon, according to miltary sources.  He was then moved to a DMI facility in the outskirts of Abuja.  He is not in the custody of the Nigerian Police Force as at the time of writing this post, as is being claimed. Rather there are credible reports that he may be in terrible condition or close to death, and it was claimed by the DMI, that they have moved him to a hospital in Lagos, as he needed surgery that could only be performed there. This was within the last 48 hours.

Political Machinations

This incident occurred without the knowledge beforehand, or permission of President Muhammadu Buhari. In fact, the President himself has tacitly recognized that on fundamental issues of national security, the military will not hesitate to act without seeking his permission. The defence establishment ran the operation autonomously without keeping the political leadership in the loop. The Ministry Of Interior, the Police and the SSS were also kept out of the loop. The Army has point-blank refused to grant access to Zakzaky and other Shia leaders it has in its custody to the MOI, DSS and NPF. It as a matter of fact refused to even tell them in what state Zakzaky was being held.  The President himself in this dispute between the MOI, the DSS and the NPF versus the Army and to a lesser extent the Navy and Airforce, has made it clear that he will not interfere in the Army’s campaign to dismantle Zakzaky’s group, despite that the other agencies have argued that ultimately this military plan will risk causing more problems than it has solved.

What Led To The Military Deciding On This Strategy?

Firstly, was the fear of a Hezbollahization of Zakzaky’s movement. They were gaining supporters, and creating an open pro-Iranian fifth column inside Nigeria that made it clear that it owed its fealty and allegiance to the Iranian Supreme Leader, not to any local religious or traditional leader. This fifth column was also receiving arms and training from Iran through the Iranian consulate in Kano (which is spied on by the Saudis, Egyptians, Americans, Nigerians, Israelis etc), and through Hezbollah via the Lebanese Shia community in Kano and Abuja.

The fear of a well armed, well trained, religiously committed , too large to wipe out , Iranian fifth column exercising veto powers over Nigeria’s security and political direction as Hezbollah has done in Lebanon, scared Nigeria’s security policy makers beyond anything else. This fear extends back into the 90s.

To prevent such a scenario occurring, it was decided last year to demonize, dismantle and decapitate the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, and to reduce it to just another religious sect, not the highly organized cultlike group it is.
Whoa, just whoa!

I just have one particular comment: If the Iranian connection is as depicted in the write up, then the whole thing was much more dire than had previously been gleaned by the public.

May the Almighty God grant us peaceful existence in Nigeria - indeed the world - whichever way He deems fit. This our world, our earth, the only one we've got, deserves to be a peaceful place for everything in and on it.

bro I don't agree with you on that.
oil contribution to Nigeria economy is not little but very massive.

Actually to the budget oil contribute about 1.5trillion (Including Oil company Tax (petroleum profit tax)).

note that the Budget is 6trillion and we are borrowing about 2trillion.

Thus the actual expected earn revenue is about 4trillion. of this 4 trillion, oil is contributing about 1.5 trillon. that is about 40% of the actual earnings.

we should diversify our economy. But that does not mean lookingdown on the massive contribution of oil to our economy.
Smart - and mature - thinking.

Politics › Re: Why Oil revenue in 2016 budget is just 820 billion naira? An Explanation!! by duwdu: 11:59am On Dec 27, 2015
tuale4u:
The IPOB guy did not understand the budget. let me help him explain.

1. The Federal government budget is the Budget of the federal government alone. Not the Budget of the country.
Thus from the Nigeria sharing formula, the Federal government takes about 54% of the total oil revenue accruing to the country (Nigeria Federation).

2. Most of the oil production in Nigeria are JV and PSC. Using the JV template, Nigeria (the federation not Federal govt) only owns 60% of the oil produced and the Oil companies owns the remaining 40% of the oil produced per day .

thus the 2.2 million per day, only 0.6*2.2million=1.32million belong to Nigeria (The federation).

Federal govt share (Potential) = 0.54*1.32million=712,800 per day.

3. The actual average production per day is about 80% of the Potential production
this is because of 20% shutdown for maintenance, unplanned shut downs, pipeline vandalisation etc.

Thus the Federal govt actual average production per day = 0.8*712,800=570,240.

4. Today the average cost of production per barrel in Nigeria is about $18 per barrel.
Actually some onshore field cost are as low as $10 per barrel while some deep offshore and shallow offshore cost are as high as $25 dollar per barrel. Today more than 60% of Nigeria crude are from Offshore. thus using an average cost of $18 per barrel is realistic considering also "carry agreement" (to be explain in the last paragraph) which Nigeria have with oil company.

Thus out of the $38 dollar per barrel price of oil, the net revenue to the govt is about $20 per barrel. (Selling price ($38) minus Cost price ($18) = $20)

thus the expected revenue to federal government from direct sales of Crude oil in 2016 is:

= $20 *199naira/1$ *570240*366*billion/1000000000= 830billion naira

From my estimation the Federal government expected revenue from direct oil sales is about 830billion naira which is very close to 820 billion naira estimated from federal government.

However, this is not all the federal govt get from having oil in this country. The oil companies pay company tax in hunderds of billion of naira.
But the govt choose to call it company tax because other companies that are not oil companies pay tax too. However the company Tax of oil companies is about 85% of their profit. Thus of the about 1.5 trillion naira expected revenue from Company Income Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Customs and Excise duties, and Federation Account levies, about 50% of it are coming from oil companies.

Also another reason the govt is not getting much more currently from Direct oil sales is because of "Carry agreement"
Most of the recent oil development and investment in the last ten years on JV contract are mostly done on "Carry agreement".

Carry agreement is the contract between the govt through NNPC and Oil companies whereby the Oil companies provide all the fund to invest in new field development (Instead of NNPC providing 60% of the cost), and then the companies recover their money by collecting part of the federal govt oil share over time. That means some of the oil that would have got to the Federal govt today have been collected by the federal govt ahead of time in the past. So they get less today.
Puuurrrfect.

I don't think anyone else could have said it any better. Thanks.

Travel › Re: My Funny Jjc Experience In Canada........ by duwdu: 9:33am On Dec 25, 2015
Jengbetiele:
I would have done this earlier but the workload here won’t permit. Anyways today I am free so I gat the whole time to share my experience being a newbie in a foreign land. Touching down at Toronto Pearson International Airport from Nigeria was a great life time experience for me, because it was my first flight, first time out of Nigeria. The journey took about 22 hours including a 4 hours transit at Frankfurt before we touched down in Canada.

I had one hotel reserved from Nigeria, so I got into the hotel shinning my 32 in excitement. All what was running through my mind was ‘as I don enter canny now, my people for Nigeria go take’. Little did I know that the smiling go soon turn frustration. The first challenge was opening the door to my room with that electronic card. I struggled with the door for awhile; I had to call the reception to the rescue. I got to my room and saw all gadget switched off. I didn't know I was meant to insert and swipe the card in an electronic slot on the wall in order put them on automatically. The temperature outside was below 3 degrees and I felt too big to go down the second time because of the trepidation of being labeled a ‘villager’. I had to wither that storm for hours till a Good Samaritan opposite my room came to bail me out.

After such a long journey, a typical human would want to have a shower na so I waka go bathroom sorry washroom lol say make I go bath o. I ran the shower but, the water be freezer water so I had to sleep like that without having my bath. Next day, I ran the tap, same cold water. To cut the long story short sha, I practically didn’t have my bath for two days till a German flat mate arrived and I stylishly asked for his help. I was so happy that I spent almost an hour in the washroom. I remembered the first two weeks, each time I wake up I go rush pick my cloths go iron thinking of nepa lol. Even till now, I still dey hold my phone charger around subconsciously.
The hotel offers free breakfast so I walked into the dining room the first day. They line up mixtures of leaves they called "food" were lined up. I actually taught maybe I mistakenly enter manger ni cos where I come from na goat dey chop raw leaf until I saw one oyinbo man saying good morning what would you like to eat?. As omo naija now I'm not familiar with any of the food so I picked something wey be like doughnut but he no sweet at all!!

I lost some pounds within these few days of arrival as I wasn’t eating well because their food no make sense for my mouth. Infact dem no get food self na snacks them dey call food for here. But when he remain small make hunger commot my eye balls, I ran to a nearby eatery and told the lady I want meat pie, she no sabi wetin meat pie be na so I check the list to see picture of wetin dey familiar. Then I told her chicken and chips she reply with excuse me what do you want?, I repeated myself severally I just look up and point number 9….she laughed hard and said it is fries and wings hehehehehe that’s what they call chicken and chips. I just asked for washroom na dia I take enter ghost mode.

I went to the reception and asked for directions to school from the hotel so I could proceed with registration ishhh. They suggested I use a cab since I be JJC. So I asked the cabman how much he pointed to the counter. As the journey progress my blood pressure kept rising because my full concentration was on the counter. At the same time, I had my fingers on converter and I was automatically converting and calculating the amount I will have to pay him in naira. All the waka wey we waka no pass distance wey I dey use jog for Nigeria yet I paid about 9,000 after conversion chai I con dey reason say how much be Lagos to Abuja self by road na?

Locating buildings in the school na another big milestone. I approached people with the expectations of go straight, turn right turn left naija things now o boiiii na map guys dey show me o….I was like wharris is this na hahahaha. After searching for an hour despite the map, I was able to locate where I was going. The thing be like ultimate search for my face. I remembered opening their doors here….hahahahahahahaha I had to watch people do that severally. There was hardly a time I got to my department without getting lost inside the building. There was a day I entered the building through the normal entrance and got out via underground tunnel hahahahahahha. Consequently, I became so thirsty and I wanted to get a drink from one of the refrigerators in the school. I approached a black guy asking where the sales girl go, he busted into laughter and help me operate the fridge.

My first time in their big bus ehn, I stylishly checked where people are placing their bus pass so entering was easier. The problem was alighting, I observed people were just silent unlike naija wey pple go just dey shout from the back seat Owa, Owa!. I almost called the driver to tell her that I'll be alighting at the next bus-stop then I discovered a wire at the right upper end of my seat, I don't even know what the wire stands for, maybe it's for emergency or anything. I just draw the thing ni no time. Sometimes I go enter wrong bus route hahahahha con dey google my location so I won’t lost. My first week here ehn I tried crossing the road like the normal naija style wey you fit cross anywhere. I didn’t know that zebra crossing is very effective here. I later learnt that all you need do even if there is no zebra crossing in sight is to move close to the traffic light and press the ‘magic’ button on the traffic light to stop the cars while you catwalk to the other side of the road.

Whenever I go to the mall, I always had my currency converter opened and active o. If I see say the tin I wan buy don too much, I drop am no time. Infact I bought wall socket for 5100 naira after conversion because my laptop mouth no enter dia socket I no fit drop that one cause he dey very essential. One last thing I remembered hahahahhaha I wanted to collect my supervisors bag like we do in Nigeria helping our lecturers carry their bags na so some of them wont mark our faces for ‘C’ or outright ‘F’ grade for being rude. The man was just looking at me and wondering what kind of rum I took or if I dey possessed hahaha. I can’t wait to see first timers do some of these things in fall.

Conclusively, it’s been exciting, and educative. I have meet friends like blood here whose counsel keeps me waxing stronger. It’s really an experience of a life time and I am grateful to Jah for giving me this chance. As many who want to experience this kain tin for the fun of it or for whatever reason, just trust God cos he makes things beautiful in his time……hehehehheeh between I am no longer a JJC though *tongue out*
Truly typical, and darn comprehensively hilarious! gringringrin

Very good post, @OP.

These women look truly beautiful.

They're lucky, but they also must have been taking good care of themselves - and all they believe in.

In my book, they just look all at peace with themselves as well, which is inspiring to we observers in a way.

God will use this government to restore the lost glory of this great nation. For those who have contrary opinions regarding Kaduna Refinery, anytime you want to buy fuel at the gas stations, ask them if the product is from Kaduna and if so, don't buy. Kwanu? The OP dug up the views expressed by Egboga during the early days of this administration - and as reported later in October - to fan the embers of doubt over the resolve of this administration to make things work. People like you, the OP, who claim to know better than those technicians and administrators in the field, will be disappointed when - not just if - the government just manages to pull this off, and bring the Kaduna refinery back on production.

For your information, Kachikwu himself, just a few months ago, in fact stated that the Kaduna refinery would rather be sold off by the end of this year. It is the same minister who is now saying that the same refinery would soon return to its production days. Go figure!

Planning the budget with estimated oil price of $38 per barrel for 2016 when the oil price as at today is $32 per barrel with a high propensity to drop further down is Budgeting in deficit and no nation in the world does that.
It is like you earning 32,000 naira salary and the list you made for family expense is at 38,000 naira.
So, instead of just throwing criticisms and tantrums out there, what benchmark price would you have suggested be used? And what would be your criteria, and when?

Or, to put it another way, which soothsayer's prediction of oil price during 2016 would you rather have followed to base the budget on?

And who told you many governments around the world do not do deficit budgeting?

Just for the records, I agree with the government's thinking and criteria behind the budget, so I don't have to re-invent the wheel. But please tell us your own.

[By the way, the benchmark price of Nigeria's Bonny Light crude yesterday dipped further to just above $31/bbl, although it somewhat recovered afterwards. Just so you know people like you have no legs to stand on.]

This is very encouraging and uplifting, coming from the UN. My message to the government is to just maintain its focus on its well set out goals, and refuse to be distracted by the scanty - albeit loud - voices that can never see anything good in this government because of their own losses at the polls anyways.

Your efforts, my dear current government - and now with a cabinet firmly in place and working - are beginning to bear good fruits.

ABUJA- The United Nations, UN, has pledged support for Nigeria in its effort to conquer the twin menace of corruption and terrorism.
Consequently, the UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki Moon‎, Weekend, sent a high-powered delegation‎ to have a meeting with the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, at his office in Abuja.
A statement by the Director of Information at the Federal Ministry of Justice‎, Mr. Nwodo Charles, revealed that the delegation was led by ‎UN Special envoy on ECOWAS, Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas‎.
The international body ‎said it was in full support of the ‎current drive by President Muhammadu Buhari to recover looted funds.
‎Chambers said the UN will cooperate with Nigeria to strengthen the administration of Justice, rule of law and respect for human rights in the country.
However, he said there was need for all African countries in the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) to form a common front against the menace of terrorism, especially with regards to the spreading activities of the Boko Haram ‎sect.
‎”While congratulating the Minister on behalf of United Nations on his appointment, he noted the land mark achievements resulting from the free, fair and credible elections that were recently conducted in Nigeria, this he said has brought progress to Africa’s nascent democracy.
“Dr. Chambas was optimistic that with the completion of the remaining 100km border posts, Boko Haram terrorists will be defeated”.
Meantime, the AGF, Malami, SAN, said he was pleased with the level of success so far recorded by the Nigeria/Cameroon joint Border Commission, in terms of resolving cross border disputes between the two countries.
The Minister said this administration would be committed towards ensuring that unnecessary border disputes within the Lake Chad Basin areas are resolved amicably.
He told the UN that Nigeria is currently working with other countries on reforms and protocols that will ultimately, bring about everlasting peace in the region.
Malami said in the spirit of mutual cooperation and collaboration, FG, is willing to further deepen the cordial relationship that had existed among the countries.
‎
On the anti-graft war in Nigeria, the AGF, said the administration of President Buhari would not relent on its effort to bring to book, anyone found to have economically sabotaged the nation.

Politics › Re: Editorial: Igbo Marginalization-true Or False by duwdu: 12:58pm On Dec 20, 2015
ooduapathfinder:
www.ooduapathfinder.com
By adminadmin on December 20, 2015

The recent intervention on Biafran protests by some leaders from the East, led by the deputy Senate president,Ike Ekweremadu, brings into focus the need to formally address the issue of marginalization being touted as one of the main reasons for the agitations. Marginalization had been the Eastern Mantra in her affairs within Nigeria and more often than not, it is based on a falsehood as their roles in all Nigerian administrations, both civilian and military, the most recent being the Jonathan Administration, proved otherwise. They also predicate their demand on a quest for justice; yet justice without truth is itself an injustice hence when falsehood become the foundation of a claim, the question to be asked is why, especially when such falsehoods can easily be identified. So, why do the Igbo persist in perpetuating a falsehood as a basis for their demand for justice?
Since this is not the first time where such a falsehood will become a foundation for a demand, it is necessary to interrogate this aspect of their praxis as it appears it forms part of their political coming into being, since the anti-colonial period, anchored on Zik’s proclamation as to the Igbo being destined by the gods of Africa to liberate Africans from the barbarism of the ages. Part of this predestination was the attempt by Zik himself to perpetuate a falsehood for his own political purposes, a prime example of which was his claim that he or his party the NCNC won the 1951 elections into the Western Regional House of Assembly. It was a falsehood carried over by his associates and followers, including Chinua Achebe who claimed to have been an eye-witness to the “carpet crossing” and others like Mathew Mbu and K.O Mbadiwe. As part of “ooduapathfinder’s” efforts to address some of these falsehoods, we begin with the 1951 Western Regional Elections where a veteran journalist, Felix Adenaike was able to put the elections in perspective, in a detailed manner, hence the following report whose background facts can also be found in “Awo or Zik—Who won the 1951 Western Nigeria Elections”, a book by Alhaji Ganiyu Dawodu(available at Amazon.com).

“Dr. Mbu said of that election held on 24 September 1951 that: “Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe was betrayed by the Western Region of Nigeria, not by the electorate, but by the leaders. The NCNC won the election against the Action Group (led by Chief Obafemi Awolowo), but the Action Group introduced what was unknown to Nigerian history”, namely, “carpet crossing. They Action Group bought members of the NCNC to join the Action Group after these people had won election on the platform of the NCNC. Zik, the leader of a majority party in the Western Region became the Leader of Opposition overnight”.
Reminded by the interviewer that the late Chief AMA Akinloye had maintained in his lifetime that he and his group had contested the election on a neutral platform from the NCNC, Dr. Mbu said: “That is his version… He is entitled to say what he wants to say. I don’t want to say ill of the dead.. He knew he was NCNC and his group was NCNC. Adelabu remained NCNC. He stuck on to NCNC till he died”.

The late Dr. Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe said in his autobiography, “Rebirth of a nation”, among others that: “But in pursuance of the policy of creating a political climate healthy enough to make one a citizen wherever he lived, Dr. Azikiwe contested and won the general elections in 1951 into the Western House of Assembly. To stultify this policy of one Nigeria in favor of his tribally-based philosophy, Chief Awolowo got some elected members to cross carpet from the NCNC to his AG side. Zik the victor lost. And Awolowo’s party was able to form the government of the Western Region.”
At a news conference in Lagos on 20 September 1989, more than two years after Chief Awolowo’s death, Dr. Mbadiwe returned to the topic saying: “Dr. Azikiwe and his party won the majority of seats in the Western House of Assembly. He was due to be elected the Leader of Government Business, when overnight, the Action Group introduced the notorious carpet-crossing. By this manipulation, members who won under the NCNC crossed over to the Action Group building it to become the majority party in the West. As a result of this, Chief Awolowo was elected Leader of Government Business and Dr. Azikiwe had to resign.”

Neither Dr. Mbu nor Dr. Mbadiwe named the members of the NCNC who contested the election on the party’s platform and later joined the Action Group to enable Chief Awolowo form the government to the exclusion of Dr. Azikiwe. These are weighty allegations such that they would have assisted their readers to clear the issues rather just repeat their own version of the events at that time in the hope that such repetitions would turn falsehood into facts.
To avert conflicting claims over candidates, Mr. Harold Cooper, the Government Public Relations Officer, wrote to the parties to furnish a list of the candidates contesting election on their platforms. Only the Action Group complied with this request and its list of candidates was as follows: Ijebu Remo Division – Obafemi Awolowo and M.S. Sowole; Ijebu Ode Division – S.O. Awokoya, Rev. S.A. Banjo and V.D. Phillips; Oyo Division – Chief Bode Thomas, Abiodun Akerele, A.B.P. Martins, T.A. Amao and SB Eyitayo; Osun Division – SL Akintola, JO Adigun, JO Oroge, S.I. Ogunwale, I…A. Adejare, J.A. Ogunmuyiwa and S.O. Ola; Ondo Division – P.A. Ladapo and G.A. Deko; Okitipupa Division – Dr. L.B. Lebi, CA Tewe and SO Tubo; Epe Division – SL Edu, AB Gbajumo, Obafemi Ajayi and C.A. Williams; Ikeja Division – O. Akeredolu-Ale, SO Gbadamosi and FO Okuntola; Badagry Division – Chief CD Akran, Akinyemi Amosu and Rev. GM Fisher; Egba Division – J.F. Odunjo, Alhaji A.T. Ahmed, CPA Cole, Rev S.A. Daramola, Akintoye Tejuoso, SB Sobande, IO Delano and A Adedamola.

The others were as follows: Egbado Division – J.A.O. Odebiyi, D.A. Fafunmi, Adebiyi Adejumo, A. Akin Illo and P.O. Otegbeye; Ife Division – Rev S.A. Adeyefa, D.A. Ademiluyi, J.O. Opadina, and S.O. Olagbaju; Ekiti Division – E.A. Babalola, Rev. J Ade Ajayi, S.K. Familoni, S.A. Okeya and D Atolagbe; Owo Division – Michael Adekunle Ajasin, A.O. Ogedengbe, JA Agunloye, LO Omojola and R.A. Olusa; Western Ijaw Division – Pere EH Sapre-Obi and MF Agidee; Ishan Division – Anthony Enahoro; Urhobo Division – WE Mowarin, J.B. Ohwinbiri and JD Ifode; Warri Division – Arthur Prest and O. Otere, and Kukuruku Division – D.J.I. Igenuma.
Of the names on the list, only MA Ajasin from Owo Division, which comprised Akoko then, did not run because of party solidarity and unity in Owo. He stood down for A.O. Ogedengbe and R.A. Olusa to contest two of the three seats, which they won, while D.K. Olumofin won the third for the NCNC. Three secretaries of the Action Group, who ran as independents and won were: Alhaji D.S. Adegbenro, Egba Division; J.O. Osuntokun, Ekiti Division and S.O. Hassan, Epe Division.

At the close of polls on 24 September 1951, the Action Group had won 38 of the 72 seats in contention in the Regional Assembly. There were a total of 80 seats. Lagos had five seats in the West Regional Assembly all won by the NCNC in the election of 20 November 1951, while Benin had three won by Otu Edo candidates in the election of 6 December 1951. The poll had been postponed in Lagos and Benin following security concerns. Of the 68 candidates on the list furnished by the Action Group to the Government PR Department, 38 of the elected AG members were from that list. And they were as follows: Ijebu Remo – Obafemi Awolowo and M.S. Sowole; Ijebu Ode – Rev. SA Banjo and S.O. Awokoya; Oyo – Bode Thomas, Abiodun Akerele, ABP Thomas, TA Amao and SB Eyitayo; Osun – S.L. Akintola, J.O. Adigun, JA Oroge, S.I. Ogunwale, I.A. Adejare, J.A. Ogunmuyiwa and S.O. Ola.
Other elected AG members from the list were: Egba – J.F. Odunjo, Alhaji AT Ahmed, Rev. S.A. Daramola and Prince Adedamola; Egbado (now Yewa) – J.A.O. Odebiyi, D.A. Fafunmi and A. Akin Illo; Ekiti – E.A. Babalola and Rev. J. Ade-Ajayi; Badagry – Chief CD Akran and Rev. G.M. Fisher; Ikeja – SO Gbadamosi and O Akeredolu-Ale; Ife – Rev. SA Adeyefa and SO Olagbaju; Owo – AO Ogedengbe and RA Olusa; Epe – Safi Lawal Edu; Okitipupa – C.A. Tewe; Western Ijaw – M.F. Agidee; Ishan – Anthony Enahoro, and Warri – Arthur Prest.

In addition to the Action Group and the NCNC, there were local/divisional parties such as the Ibadan People’s Party (IPP), led by Chief AMA Akinloye; Ondo Improvement League, and Otu Edo of Benin. At the end of poll, the standing of the parties was as follows: Action Group 38; NCNC/Independents 25; IPP 6 and Ondo Improvement League 2. Otu Edo candidates won the three Benin seats, namely, Chief SO Ighodaro, Chief Humphrey Omo-Osagie and Chief Chike Ekwuyasi. Chief Ighodaro opted for the AG, while the latter two went to the NCNC. And of the six IPP elected members, only Adegoke Adelabu joined the NCNC. The rest of them: AMA Akinloye, Chief DT Akinbiyi (who later became the Olubadan of Ibadan), Chief SO Lanlehin, Moyosore Aboderin and SA Akinyemi, opted for the Action Group. The NCNC National Secretary, the late Chief Kola Balogun had sent declaration forms to the IPP assemblymen asking them to declare for the NCNC but Chief Akinloye returned all the forms uncompleted.
The three AG secretaries who had run as independents – Adegbenro, Osuntokun and Hassan, five IPP members, one Etu Edo, and one Ondo Improvement League, Chief F.O. Awosika; and Chief Timothy Adeola Odutola (Independent, Ijebu Ode) had swollen the number of the AG elected members. All the transactions had taken place before the inauguration of the Regional Assembly on 7 January 1952. These were not known members of the NCNC, nor did the party publish their names on the list of its candidates, but claimed them as its “members, supporters or sympathizers” , according to inimitable Zik in his “My Odyssey”. It takes more than speculation to claim a person as a member of your political party. You cannot just be under the “impression” as Zik had claimed that they were and go ahead to field them as electoral candidates. For over a half century, the NCNC is yet to provide evidence to back its claim that it had won the West Regional election in 1951.

Mr Cooper absolved his department of responsibility for the controversy generated by the NCNC after the election. At a post election news conference in Lagos he said that “Of the winning candidates, the names of 38 were on the list sent to me by the Action Group. The six successful candidates at Ibadan were all among those who had been identified to me as representing the Ibadan People’s Party. No claim of any kind had reached us about the party affiliation of the remaining successful candidates.” Why did the NCNC not send a list of its candidates for the poll to the Government PR Department before that poll? And why have Dr. Mbu and the others not published the list of NCNC candidates to substantiate their electoral victory claim in over 50 years but merely kept reaping false claims? The records of the poll conducted in the West and all over Nigeria by the colonial administration are available at the National Archives and can be accessed by any honest researcher. In this matter, it is facts that speak, not what some political/ethnic partisan said or did not say.

Dr Azikiwe’s frustration was not only in losing the regional election, he also lost the election to the House of Representatives held on 10 January 1951 at the House of Assembly, Ibadan, among NCNC members. The total tally for the 1951 poll in the 80-member Western Regional Assembly was as follows: Action Group 38; Independent/ AG 15; NCNC 24; Independent/ NCNC 3. Three members of the NCNC who had been elected to the House changed party allegiance that day ahead of the House of Representatives vote. They were: Chief SY Kesington-Momoh, JG Ako, and Awodi Orisaremi, from Urhobo and Kukuruku Divisions. They were running for the House of Representatives and wanted Action Group votes. Kesington-Momoh and Ako were elected, but Orisaremi went back to the NCNC. That was all the carpet-crossing that took place on 10 January 1952, namely, three at first to the AG and one back to the NCNC.

From the vote tally, it is clear that the NCNC and the Independent /NCNC totalling 27 seats altogether out of 80 seats could not have formed the Government of Western Nigeria. Even if the local/divisional parties had chosen the NCNC, it would still be some seats short of 41 required to form the government. The Action Group won 38 seats; its independent candidates – Adegbenro, Osuntokun, Hassan and Odutola won four seats making a total of 42 seats. The AG could have formed the government without the support of the other small parties. It did not have to “bribe” anybody to join it to form the government. Since politics is a game of number, only few principled politicians would not be disposed to joining the winning party, in this case, the AG.
Dr. Mbadiwe also claimed in his book: “Successful NCNC men who were not Yoruba were scared away. Dr. Azikiwe who won a seat to the Western House (of) Assembly from a Lagos constituency decided to resign. Since membership of the House of Representatives was by an electoral college in the regional house, no NCNC from the West came to the House of Representatives in Lagos”. This is blatantly false. Zik resigned because he lost election to the federal house from the West, while Prince Adeleke Adedoyin, Dr. Ibiyinka Olorun-Nimbe, Chief Frank Oputa-Otutu, Chief Denis Osadebey and Sir Odeleye Fadahunsi were elected from Ibadan to Lagos. Whoever scared non-Yoruba NCNC people from the West? Chief Denis Osadebey succeeded Adegoke Adelabu as Opposition Leader in the West and the likes of Humphrey Omo-Osagie, Festus Okotie-Eboh, Chike Ekwuyasi, Fidelis H Utomi, Obi Osagie, Yamu Numa, GO Oweh and GB Ometan were non-Yoruba NCNC in that Assembly. “
Quoted in full, in case there'd be the need to reference such a material some time.

Politics › Re: Gift Of 2 Jeeps Included In Buhari's Assets Declaration Form by duwdu: 1:30pm On Dec 17, 2015
kahal29:
Recal this happened earlier this year even before the Dasukigate:

{Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, have declared their asset.

A statement by the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu said “the documents submitted to the CCB, which officials say are still being vetted and will soon be made public, show that prior to being sworn in on May 29, President Buhari had less than N30 million to his name. He also had only one bank account, with the Union Bank. President Buhari had no foreign account, no factory and no enterprises. He also had no registered company and no oil wells”, the statement said.

The statement further added that “the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), who had been a successful lawyer before his foray into politics declared a bank balance of about N94 million and 900,000 United States Dollars in his bank accounts”.

It added that President Buhari “had shares in Berger Paints, Union Bank and Skye Bank”.

The documents also revealed that “President Buhari had a total of five homes, and two mud houses in Daura. He had two homes in Kaduna, one each in Kano, Daura and in Abuja. One of the mud houses in Daura was inherited from his late older sister, another from his late father. He borrowed money from the old Barclays Bank to build two of his homes.

“President Buhari also has two undeveloped plots of land, one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt. He is still trying to trace the location of the Port Harcourt land.

“In addition to the homes in Daura, he has farms, an orchard and a ranch. The total number of his holdings in the farm include 270 heads of cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety of birds and a number of economic trees”.

The documents also showed that the retired General “uses a number of cars, two of which he bought from his savings and the others supplied to him by the federal government in his capacity as former Head of State. The rest were donated to him by well-wishers after his jeep was damaged in a Boko Haram bomb attack on his convoy in July 2014.

The same forms, according to Mr Shehu, notes that ” Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s asset declaration include his 4-bedroom residence at Victoria Garden City, Lagos and a 3-bedroom flat at 2 Mosley Road, Ikoyi. The Vice President also has a 2-bedroom flat at the popular Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and a 2-bedroom mortgaged property in Bedford, England. Aside from these, the Vice President has no other landed properties on the form.

“Apart from his law firm, known as SimmonsCooper, the Vice-President also declared shareholding in six private companies based in Lagos, including Octogenerium Ltd., Windsor Grant Ltd., Tarapolsa, Vistorion Ltd., Aviva Ltd. and MTN Nigeria.

“His personal vehicles are one Infinity 4-Wheel Drive SUV, one Mercedes Benz and a Prado Jeep.
“As soon as the CCB is through with the process, the documents will be released to the Nigerian public and people can see for themselves,” Mr Shehu said.}

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/09/breaking-buhari-osinbajo-declare-assets/
The unwarranted "gifts from ex-NSA Dasuki" salvo towards President Buhari that led to the re-posting of the above message, shows one clear advantage of the act of a public officer declaring his/her assets not just according to the law, but also in public.

President Buhari has been very smart to have gone the whole hog and then some, by doing both. This has helped in no small way to kill attempts at tarnishing his obviously hard earned reputation over this ongoing #Dasukigate saga.

Things are really changing for the better in Nigeria.

Sorry, but anyone who supported the removal of subsidy under Jonathan must have been a compound fo0l. And the reason any such person was a fo0l then is the same as it is now, and is simple: The man Jonathan would have simply wasted/squandered/misappropriated ALL of it (what could have been yanked from the masses,) and then some.

Nothing else could have come in better as evidence of the deduction above, than the events, revelations, and confessions, just within these immediate past couple of weeks, of mindless looting of our patrimony by those who were taking orders directly from President Jonathan.

And to think that the set of lootocracy that has so far been put in the public domain is just the tip of probably one of many icebergs!

These Jonathan apologists sef.

Well, Karma is always there...

Can you please provide an actual video or audio to where you claim Nnamdi Kanu said all this cause having listened to the above, it says otherwise. Thanks
Quite a number of relevant links to what you're asking have been posted on threads in this politics section many times over, seriously.

But, as it appears you've not been aware of them, simply help yourself a bit by searching for them on this forum, YouTube, or elsewhere.

Good luck.

Politics › Re: Appeal Court Upholds Tribunal’s Judgment Nullifying Wike’s Election by duwdu: 2:21pm On Dec 16, 2015
centvin008:
A five-man Court of Appeal panel sitting Abuja has upheld the ruling of the gubernatorial election tribunal in Rivers state. In a 110-page ruling delivered by Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem the Court ruled that the election of Nyesom Wike did not conform with the electoral act. The Court has ordered a rerun in 90 days.

In delivering a final ruling the Court of Appeal decided all the seven issues raised by Governor Wike against in favour of Dakuku Peterside and the All Progressives Congress party.

The appellate court refused to discard the findings of a lower tribunal saying the number of witnesses is not the main issue but evaluation of the strength of evidence before the trial court.

Issue one on fair hearing resolved for the APC candidate, Dakuku

The appellate court also stated it has evaluated the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission and holds them sacrosanct.

The Court of Appeal said it agrees that gubernatorial election was marred by wide-scale violence.

On issue two regarding competence of ruling by the new chairman in the lower tribunal, stamps, issuance of service and jurisdiction, the court ruled it was in order.

On issue three about locus standing to institute the case at the tribunal in 21 days, the issue was again resolved in APC's favor.

The court described the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Wike as crying more than the bereaved

Issue four on INEC manuals, guidelines and non-compliance including non-issuance of pre-hearing notices by the chairman of the lower tribunal, court resolved in APC's favor saying it was immaterial.

Issue five is on the reliance on documentary evidence by the tribunal resolved for APC

On issue six as to whether the lower tribunal was right on card readers, the appeals court said in the evaluation of the evidence before the tribunal after a thorough analysis of the subject matter of card readers, and its use, the lead judge stated categorically that card readers guarantees credible elections.

The Court stated that INEC manuals were consistent with the provisions of electoral Act.

The facts that the court resolved that the Card Reader was consistent with the Electoral Act, and that INEC's Rules, Guidelines, and Directives are held sacrosanct, are the most significant aspects of this judgement, IMHO.

They will help towards sanitizing future elections and help achieve mostly free and fair electoral processes in this country.

To me, I cannot envisage a situation where the Supreme Court would go against this classy judgement.

Bring on Electronic Voting Systems, please!

I don't know whether the various timelines in the following quote, culled from the comments section under the original story are ALL true, but here you go:

Fortunato ko... Fraudinato ni.
There was nothing "lucky" about Dumbo's trajectory to power, it was all the work of evil egbesu gods that ran its course. His Senior Prefect (SP) in secondary died before Dumdo replaced him from ASP to SP. The chosen candidate for late Alams as Deputy Governor died and Dumbo was chosen to replace him. DSP Alams was deposed and Jona Dumbo became Governor. Ota Gorilla's vindictive politics bypassed Dr. Odili, Donald Duke, Ben Bruce et al, and Dumbo was made VP to Yar'Adua who died in office as President thus, Drumbo again profited from another misfortune... Therefore, he was not lucky but opportunistic and at the right time of evil doings. Most importantly is what he did with power was Fraud Unlimited thus my nomenclature: El-Fraudinato di Bandito. Hahaha chei... Oloshi ni Dumbo!

Fortunato's a good name though grin
Why would you think the words and deductions by the honorable judge, based on evidence in his court, qualify as a lie? Hmm.

Italian cabal named Jonathan “Fortunato” in $1.1 million Malabu racket

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan

A cable available to Southwark Crown Court, UK has revealed how a former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan, was code-named “Fortunato” by Italian accomplices in the $1.1 million Malabu deal.

Italian authorities investigating the mega deal had provided evidence to the court indicating the involvement of the former president.

The court, presided by Justice Edis, said based on the evidence presented before it, “Fortunato”, meaning “the lucky one” in Italian, was implicated in the deal.

“The suggestion from the wiretaps is that “Fortunato” was implicated and I am told that this was a reference in code (not subtle) to the former President of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan,” the judge said.

By this revelation, “Fortunato”, is added to the long list of names Nigerians call the former president.

The court however refused to release the remaining balance of $85 million (N17 billion) to Malabu for the sell of Africa’s richest oil bloc, OPL 245 to oil giants Shell and ENi.
