Ichidodo pls stop bullying agbementa. |
geeez: Even in escalators leading to the London Underground trains kids play on escalatorsIt may not be far fetched to assume some of those kids have their roots in Ibadan. A casual frolic on the escalator by a kid or two in the mall should not be equated to hundreds of wide eyed kids fighting to behold a world wonder. I wonder which London you are talking about. No sane parent will allow his kid to go playing in the tube with hundreds of strangers rushing by. |
Looooooooool! This got me tearing when I read it. Why is Ibadan so very primitive that they have to take turns marvelling at the escalator. I even saw adults in the fight to get in. Most modern malls have a play pen for kids, or is the escalator doubling as one. Ibadan seems to always lose out on these things. |
heykims: I watch Chelsea's game regularly nd I see Mikel occupy his regular spot at d kick off in most of the matches, in d tent close to d pitch line marking. Honestly chief, u will just be disturbing ursef refuting d fact dt Mikel is not a bench warmer in Chelsea, all sincerely minded Nigerians know he is.You need to change your black and white tv, so that you will be able to differentiate players, and see an opthalmologist to get your eyes checked before it is too late. |
spyder880: I will soon take my camera around town again, showing the good and the bad. Enugu rocks anyday, I love my state. We can't wait. Already looking forward to your nice pictures. |
Let's all be frank, is that "wizard of Oz" project what Abeokuta needs? And to think some people are already dancing and rejoicing is what makes me wonder if the subjects in Ogun have a brain. I implore them to rise up and stop this fantasy before it turns into a looting reality. |
qhiwegh: Igboland (including Onitsha, Enugu) for Igbos. You are very ignorant, Your once "beautiful" city that has been the country's capital for years without which it would have just been another slum. In any case what all mega cities have in common is diversity. If you want an all Lagos Yorobar, no need to look too far, just down the road is a slum named Ibadan and not far off is oshogbo, that is your all Yorobar Lagos. |
The Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu, Tuesday declared that the nation's health sector had witnessed unprecedented improvement under President Goodluck Jonathan's administration, insisting that some Nigerians who still travel abroad for medical attention may well be doing that for the fun of it. This is coming even as the minister disclosed that the federal government was making efforts to get more hospitals from across the six zones of the country to resume open heart surgeries in order to reduce the pressures facing the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) and the University College Hospital, Ibadan that are both carrying out the exercise at present. Speaking when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former Minister of State for Health, Dr. silas Ilo, at their family house in Enugu, Chukwu noted that it would be difficult to stop anybody from travelling abroad for medical attention. "You can't stop anybody from travelling out. Even a sick person is entitled to medical tourism. In this case, the former minister did not go for medical attention. He did not die in a hospital but he merely went for a visit with his wife and suddenly died. It was a sudden death; nobody expected it; the wife didn't expect it, even the late Ilo didn't expect. You can die anywhere even in the moon," he said. While commiserating with the family over the painful loss, the minister pledged the readiness of the ministry to always assist the family of the deceased in order to reciprocate the late ex-minister's contributions to the development of the health sector in particular and the nation at large. The minister who also used the opportunity to commend the authority of the UNTH for successfully carrying out over 40 open heart surgeries since the resumption of the programme earlier in the year, expressed hope that more of such operations would be done at the hospital. He said the ministry was currently making efforts to get more hospitals to do the high-end surgical procedure which is one of the main reasons for the establishment of teaching hospitals in the country. He however thanked some Nigerian in the Diaspora for initiating the action that culminated in the resumption of Open Heart Surgery in UNTH. "This is part of the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan who has been monitoring what has been happening at our hospitals. He's pleased with what we are doing in the health sector, though a little more needs to be done. There's no doubt that this is one of the best administrations in this country," he said. Earlier, one of the children of the deceased former minister had thanked Chukwu for remembering them at the moment of grief, expressing appreciation that the minister had kept in touch with the family since the demise of their father. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/health-minister-more-hospitals-to-begin-open-heart-surgeries/167327/ |

In secure housing estates, why not. |
shymexx: How would they be displaced since they have no where else to go and it's the responsibility of the state government to look after them? That's their home. What I mean is that they may resist relocation. Most of the fishing villages and slums maybe difficult to alter. It is not easy to give up land that you believe is ancestral. |
Uyi Iredia: That's not the point. The more important point is to get you to see he ain't all that excellent. We are VERY used to celebrating average leadership and I am tired of that. And why tribalize the matter ?lol You made him sound stewpid. I wonder what happened to peoples' understanding of constructive criticism. |
emmatok: The only solution to Lagos problem is Massive decongestion and demolition. That may prove difficult cause many poor indigenes will be displaced |
Abagworo: If there are some bad spots in an unfinished road, it does not make it sub-standard. An error which is corrected is not bad at all. It only becomes bad when you commission the project as finished and it starts wearing off. We don't have to lie because of political interest. I've seen people post pictures of half kilometer traffic light in Uyo, Lagos etc. but I've not seen anyone talk about hundreds of kilometres of functional streetlights in Owerri and Orlu today. Are those ones also "sub-standard" ?You obviously do not live in Owerri, if not you will attest to what i'm saying. I am also talking of refurbished roads that have broken down not just new ones, we need to demand good governance not come and sing the praises of corrupt politicians who continue to reap us off. Do not be deceived by the painted kerbs and Christmas lights along Concorde boulevard, that was not built by Rochas, besides there are deep pot holes on that Concorde round about which appeared shortly after that road had been refurbished, same with warehouse etc. Don't always take observations as "pull him down" statements. It is bad for democracy. |
Blind looting. |
Abagworo: What exactly makes a contractor substandard? I guess if its a Nigerian contractor its substandard but Lebanese, German and Chinese contractors are standard. We need to build our own and enpower our local contractors so that in future they can attain perfection. Imo does not have the money to award Julius Bergers over-inflated contracts.A substandard contractor has his road breaking down even before completion, which is the case with most of the roads in Owerri, including the new Owerri bypass that cuts through the hotel you snapped, the road parallel to it that comes out at warehouse roundabout, Okigwe road, Govt house road through shell camp. etc. As per industries, if you read my post notice that I said "if he wants to focus on tourism", which means there is nothing entirely wrong with that, so far he does it well, which means excellent road network, aesthetics, sanitation, etc, he is not good in any of the above so what is he doing? |
yetunsbay: abeg wots ur p?kill ursef coz f sm1c govtQuote me again when you learn basic communication. For now you are incomprehensible. |
geeez: See envyYou deserve to be flogged for comparing Osun to Kansas. And you forgot that I qualified the agrarian with wretched. |
kettykin: This award by thisday will only Spur Tinubu to Self Destruct knowing full well the his antecedents , power drunkenness, political ambitionsYou have said it all! History has a way of repeating itself. The psychopaths are continually engaged in praise and worship of their deity Tinubu. Nudging him closer to destruction. |
Abagworo: Don't go wasting your time. There's a noticeable 7storey building at Awo-Omamma and it belongs to the brewery. Most people writing lies that there are no industries in Imo know very well that there are hundreds of industries but the aim is comparing it with Abia and Anambra. Those same people condemning the hundreds of hotels in Owerri are quick to show pictures of hotels as development in their State capital. You can also google Jacob Wines. There are tens of drug manufacturing industries in the Orlu area as well. Just google it and stop believing rumours. If you say Rochas is trying to refurbish some roads albeit with substandard contractors, I'll agree. However, when it comes to industries, Imo needs to step up cause they lag behind all other SE States including Ebonyi. If Rochas wants to just focus on tourism, then he needs to reeeelly step up on the quality of roads. And get rid of the faceless contractors. |
I wonder why some folks are fond of defending the indefensible. The budget is obviously over the roof for a wretched agrarian state. |
Biodup: As we criticise our leaders, let us also praise them when ever they do something good. From the regime of sanni abacha december period was always a time of fuel scarcity. Last night i walk into the fuel station and bought fuel without stress. Gej and his minister of petroleum has broke the jinx of over 20yrs. I am sure of one thing, we are not there yet but gej meant well for this country.I like your write up, but please work on your grammar. |
Tinubu belongs in jail. But I guess Lagos state govt enjoys sheepish servitude so they keep worshipping him. I pity them. |
OP There is nothing secret about the hallucinations of yours that you have put on paper. Try not to indulge too much in free wine. |
Fashole should do well to return the undeserved award. |
bigx: They are the same,Spot on! |
Rochas should remember the rural roads, went for a wedding in Ikeduru and the state of the roads was terrible. The town looked totally neglected and off grid despite being so close to Owerri. |
Akure is lucky to have Igbo blood infused into their Kingdom as ruler. Will stir them out of the doldrums to prosperity. |
The Datsun go costs about 1.5million. It is built by Nissan, the main car company that is bidding to set up a plant here in Nigeria. The car is proving to be a success in Indonesia, Russia and India. Pls ignore the mischievous imaginary pics by the OP.
