PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improve the living standard of Nigerians, saying that with the level of effort being put into the power sector, there would be relatively stable electricity supply in the country by the middle of 2014. Speaking to a cross section of Nigerians resident in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, on Thursday, he also said the present level of insecurity in the country, as a result of the activities of the radical Islamic religious sect, would brought to an end as he was sure that the terrorists, would be overcome. He regretted that the impression had been created in the public domain, which suggested that no achievement had been made by government, whereas steady progress was being recorded in various aspects of the nation’s life. “On our own part, we believe that as a government, we will continue to do what is right. We are yet two years in government and from all indications, we are not going to praise ourselves, but we are moving towards the right direction. “There are indices, though the Nigerian political environment is so heated up that if you read the papers you will even think that nothing is happening,” he said. On the the activities of Boko Haram, he conceded that it was a major challenge for government, noting that though such terrorist activities were not peculiar to Nigeria, government would continue to confront it with a view to bringing it to an end. Earlier, the Nigerian Ambassador in Equatorial Guinea, Sunday Bassey, had called for the strengthening of the Nigerian mission in the country, in view of the Central African’s strategic interest to Nigeria. http://tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/news/item/7892-jonathan-assures-of-stable-power-supply-mid-2014 |

somebody: Not sure why no one has said this but you can put an infant in the front seat but turn off the air bag. At least, that is the warning I've seen in my own car.You must be driving a 2013 mercedes benz concept car. I've not seen any of the regular Japanese or korean cars that can do this. Infact i'm not even sure it's wise to have that option of turning off airbags, it's just like being able to turn off your brakes at will. |

IGBO-SON:You are very right. The DAILY sweeping of roads is what really bothers me. Why is it so difficult for a state govt to do sth so routine? You just summarised everything on my mind. I couldnt really get pics bc i was in a moving car. |
Owerri is a relatively clean city. It's smaller landmass also makes waste management easier than lets say Enugu or Calabar. Looking at the bigger picture i'll go for Uyo, Calabar, Owerri and Enugu. |
Must every single bloody thing be tribalised? There is a line between funny and outright madness, some comments here sound genocidal. So many yoruba sociopaths are running amock on this forum. I dont know why the word Igbo is so yoromagnetic. If the majority were Efik traders no Yoruba would have bothered commenting. |
It appears the indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the Enugu PH highway towards ENUGU is on the increase. ESWAMA seems to have completely neglected that aspect of Enugu. The flyovers have been defaced with refuse. ESWAMA pls do sth before it gets out of hand |

If a former minister of the federal republic of Nigeria will go on twitter and use Yo mama jokes and even more depressingly get chants of encouragement from a vast majority of nairalanders then we in real trouble as a country. |
