Christianity EtcRe: When Happiness Intoxicates By Pastor Adeboye by eaglechild: 4:17pm On Feb 25, 2013
vislabraye: The context in which he speaks is correct. Many people have indulged in excesses that led to their untimely death.

I was told of a man who went to the beach with some friends. After drinking several rounds of beer, he decided to sleep with a prostitute. He was so intoxicated that he didn't wear condom. After the sex, he realized himself. But it was too late. HE ENDED UP WITH HIV AND DIED.
You make it sound like 'the HIV' killed him before he got home from the beach.
PoliticsRe: Oshiomhole Closes-down Benin Golf Club by eaglechild: 3:48pm On Feb 25, 2013
Anvaller: Cool it guys, Oloye got it all wrong. As far as I know, the law only prohibits movements within the city and gathering in public places during the period. This is just to encourage ppl to stay at home and clean up their properties. What anyone is doing privately in a private property is not an issue. I grew up in a G.R.A in Ibadan and as far as I can remember, we really did not use that period for cleaning as it was not necessary. We moved about from street to street within our neighborhood (tho only walking, not driving) without any harassment by any authority. I remember we used this sanitation period in our neighborhood for landlord meetings. It would have been a big time drama if one Oloye came to our compound and arrested all the landlords because they were having a kind of meeting and not cleaning their properties. We need to be more sane about how we define our laws and how we implement them. If the golf course is a confined private property without any over flow of activities, I don't think Oloye had any business harassing those ppl. I see it as mere oppression. My opinion!
You really didnt make any point besides telling us that your father owns a house in Ibadan G.R.A.

^^^That's another one of my pet hates! It wouldn't be half as bad if they maintained it by re-coating it every couple of weeks and sweeping the streets of gathered dust/dirt every early morning. And why the fuc/k can't they keep open gutters clear of rubbish?.....get plain-clothes officials to catch and fine the litter louts if need be. angry angry
Most govts dont realise the tremendous task that waste management is.
They dont even understand that it is one of the most impt factors that make a city liveable and attract vistors and investors.
Anyway, i can tell you that Owerri is relatively one of the 'cleaner' cities we have.

Rhino.5dm:
Yes, But Lagos alone is far far far greater than your entire region in all ramifications. Lagos IGR is greater than the whole of south east put together, annual income is greater than that of your region put together.

How much will it take to make your region livable?
Gosh
This OP really got to you.
And who owns Lagos?

Real-Mccoy:
How many igbos born and raised in Lagos or Kaduna could speak igbo? Dont be too ethnocentric.
Oh please get real.
This has nothing to do with ethnocentricity.
Your language is a strong factor in defining your identity.
Why dont you tell the English to give up their language and stop being ethnocentric?
CelebritiesRe: Osi Umenyiora & Leila Lopes Are Engaged! by eaglechild: 9:12pm On Feb 15, 2013
jmoore: Dude, do you know that many Nigerians who have never traveled outside Nigeria can only speak English, are they from England? smh
Are you one of them?
If you are, i'm sorry about that, cause you really are losing your true identity.
Inability to speak your native language is nothing to be proud of
Dude.

Real-Mccoy:
Read your post again sir/ma'm and notice how you contradicted yourself. It was what prompt my reaction.
Uhmmm...
I was referring to their identity as true Nigerians based on their ability to speak their native Igbo language.
Dont see how that translates to their being irresponsible.
CelebritiesRe: Osi Umenyiora & Leila Lopes Are Engaged! by eaglechild: 8:47pm On Feb 15, 2013
Real-Mccoy:
Is been a Nigerian a pre reque for been responsible? Even Nigerians with very thick accent hate to be identified as Nigerians in public square.
I dont get your drift.
Never said anything about being responsible.
I think you quoted the wrong post.

jmoore: Is Victor Moses a Nigerian? can he speak any Nigerian language? smh
Dont know what you're trying to say.
Your language strongly defines your identity.
Never seen an English man that cant speak English.
If Victor Moses cannot speak his native language then it's his loss not mine.
CelebritiesRe: Osi Umenyiora & Leila Lopes Are Engaged! by eaglechild:
Are the Umenyioras really Nigerian?
Just curious.
I know they are Anambra by birth but dont know if they can even speak Igbo.

PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by eaglechild: 8:53am On Feb 10, 2013
spyder880: I have also noticed the new improvement in ESWAMA. The heaps of rubbish has been reducing and of course the new bins in most locations. Wonder who is in charge now.
That land opposite the blue island hotel is a private land as I heard, I also noticed the new activities there, a road going through it and some works. That property is among the most well positioned lands in Enugu. Some of the buildings inside it looks like they collapsed out of neglect. There is a story about the land which I cannot mention here because I could not confirm the information. cheesy
Yes there has been marginal improvement.
However ESWAMA still needs to step up esp as regards street sweeping.
Enugu doesn't end with independence layout.
The day they start sweeping lower presidential rd, ESBS junction, Agbani rd Gariki, Ogbete axis etc ON A DAILY BASIS then u'll see the true beauty of Enugu.
I think most folks in Enugu are civil and dont litter much.
ESWAMA needs to do a lot more asides new bins.

What i have in mind is Asaba and Onitsha with the surrounding towns of Obosi, Mkpor, Ogidi,Umuoji, Oba etc becoming a purpose built business cornubation.
With an international airport in Asaba and a river port in Onitsha all linked by rail.
