It generally has to do with how the 2 professional bodies tend to protect the interest for their members.
For example while doctors see themselves as having right to be above every worker (this is mainly in Nigeria) they feel it's their birthright to be ministers of health, commissioners of health in every state and even aspire to lead midwifery council of Nigeria.
They are aggressive in pushing boundaries of their rights many times even going too far.
Every doctor is fixed to a particular hospital for their housemanship and every practical training; all of which come with a good pay. So most of those previlleges were demanded by their union from the government and every other employer, and they got it.

On the other hand NSE and COREN don't make any concrete effort to better welfare of engineers in Nigeria.
Many talk of lack of competence, which is true, but how can you be competent when you are not given any opportunity to have first hand engineering experience right from undergrad days.
They could start making sure there are provisions to train engineers with practical knowledge, let every engineering student have two years mandatory on the job training in his field. Example as a Chemical Engineer you spend 2years at Dangote Cement Plant, you will never be a clueless engineer.
then NSE could be demanding better welfare for engineers in such fields.

I read somewhere that the Huawei OS will be made to support all Android apps. So you can definitely install all those social media apps you want.

NPDC manages NNPC exploration and production. They are incharge of looking for oil in Lake Chad and Venue trough.
NAPIMS on the other hand is incharge of regulating and monitoring ALL FINANCIAL ventures of NNPC. They are the parastatal that gives approval for any expenditure by any oil company operating in Nigeria.
Take it from someone in the industry, NAPIMS is far ahead of NPDC.

Actually, NNPC owns 49 percent shares in NLNG. It has controlling shares in NLNG. Therefore, NLNG is a subsidiary of NNPC.

The only issue is that while NNPC has 100 percent controlling shares in subsidiaries like NPDC, PPMC et al and have full control of these subsidiaries' operational and administrative frameworks, its control of the operational and administrative frameworks in NLNG is limited to its 49 percent shareholding. So I went from having over a million naira to having zero naira in my bank account. I would have allowed this to pass as a commentary on the general state of our education, but for the second item on the write-up.

The op stated that the graduates from private universities are better than those from the federal universities. I beg to disagree. While, there has been a general degradation in our educational system in Nigeria, I still maintained that the Federal Universities are by far better than the private ones in Nigeria of today.

This may be because of my area and industry as a whole but my experience is at complete variance with what the op said. I do sit on the interview panel for my company once in a while, as a technical assessor for engineering recruits, but that is not the only source of my assertion.

I am a member of the society of petroleum engineers and we have two major competitions, the PETROBOWL and PETROQUIZ that we organize for the various universities in Nigeria. The winner in Nigeria normally goes ahead to represent Nigeria at the international competition normally during the ATCE outside Nigeria (mostly in US).

The competition has always been won by Federal Universities, in fact Uniben has won the international competition before and that was the only time a Nigerian university won it.


We also use to assess the petroleum engineering departments of universities in Nigeria and I can tell you that the private universities have a long way to go to catch up with the Federal ones.


Now, that leaves the state owned universities in between. Many are useless and are just universities in name and a few are good.


Yet, no Nigerian University is where they are meant to be in the comity of schools on the world stage.

Both of you are right. The OP's emphasis was on presentation and communication skills. Private school graduates are bound to speak better English and dress better compared to their public school counterparts. However, public school graduates tend to know the content of their courses more as they are grilled more and hardly get a mediocre assessment and course work that tends to produce high number of graduates. In the end a potential first class graduate would be frustrated to graduate with a 2.1.

In as much as I am not in support of stealing of public funds, I think the EFCC has no clear evidence to seize or claim the money.

As her lawyer rightly said no body has come forth to say she stole his money, not even the federal government. Of course, the government has not given her any fund for project and she put it in her private accounts.

As she said, the funds can be gifts. from her well wishers. After all when family and friends gift one money during an event it usually come in big sum. Or church offering.

I am not a lawyer o but just reasoning. EFCC should just better come up with a right claim or release her funds to her.

The onus to prove the source of the money is on the dependent, not the EFCC you can't give a reasonable explanation for source of your wealth the court is mandated by law to forfeit the money to federal government through EFCC.
First of all bring the list of those that gifted you such huge amount of money that is more than most states monthly budget.
Secondly the way the funds were concealed in a fake company account using househelp pictures and names as executives reeks of a shady source.
It's up to the court to decide and from the looks of things Mama Peace has lost this case.
