PoliticsRe: 2019 Elections: Collect Bribe, It’s Your Money – Fashola To Voters by echelons(m): 8:03am On Jan 21, 2019
Sadly, this is coming from a minister in an 'Integrity' government.

The truth is that vote buying and selling is criminal. It robs people of their freedom to choose without interference.

There are lots of people who have marginal reason for voting a candidate as against another. Bringing in the money automatically swings the pendulum in favour of the party that paid.

There are also voters that have a geniune reason to vote for a particular candidate but because they are in dire need of money will just have to vote in line with where the money comes.

It's sad that people who should know, just don't think properly.

Fashola failed woefully on this.

you don't need to tell me. I know.
By the time I collect #10k from APC, 15k from PDP, I will then gladly fix my car, and drive to my polling unit and vote Hasim or Ezekwesili, that will be a wasted vote though, but I don't care.
Make your vote count, and not wasted.

It's between Buhari and Atiku; Between Failure and Hope.

Yada yada yada...

My acceptance of Buhari over an Atiku plus Saraki is clear from my submission. If you had a better option than Buhari, I would have jumped ship and followed your lead because I have my reservation about the cabals running at the background of Buhari's government. But for the austere measures in place where unfettered access to the national coffer has become almost impossible and one of the reasons the likes of Saraki are crying and complaining not because they give a rats ass about the well being of the man on the street.

Infrastructure-wise, the present administration is doing great because our collective wealth isn't personalised and ending up in a few pockets as had been the norm before now.

You frigging musn't agree with me and heck can't force me to agree with you.
All the best bro.

At best, your reason for accepting mediocrity is the imaginations planted by APC and their goons of failure. Even if you bring Jesus Christ and Mohammed as candidates, they'll find a way of spinning one bogus corruption theory around them.

It's almost 12 years since Atiku left office, yet not a single court case on him, same thing as Peter Obi, the case on Saraki was thrown out for its incompetence.

Buhari may have done one or two projects, projects so big that we cannot see them. But it's generally accepted that his administration is way below expectations. In fact, we don't have a president. A president that his vice boldly said was unaware of many things, A president that his wife said is not in charge.

Like I said, all the best. Just so we know, whatever decision we take on this election will determine the future we and our children will have.
Do we continue with mediocrity, or do we try out Hope that Atiku and Obi are promising, well documented Hope policy that will get Nigeria working again.

All these Atiku to America and bla bla bla has become a distraction and surely not what an election campaign should be.

With Buhari's style of allowing a cabalic few take charge of his government and not hiding their nepotistic/bigotry tendencies, whether he (Buhari) endorses such sentiments or not I can't say for a certainty, this election would have been a great opportunity for PDP to give Buhari and APC a good run for their money and popularity. But to see that the best PDP can present is an Atiku with an escort like Saraki is an attempt in futility I must submit here.

What I know for a certain is, looking at Atiku's pictures alongside Saraki it is very clear that should he win the Presidency our national treasury will be in jeopardy going by his antecedents and likely position to be held with unfettered access. To that end, I'd rather a nepotistic/bigot Buhari.

God forbid I see a stick that'd likely blind me and still fail to blink.
Bla bla bla...

Your acceptance of Buhari's incapacity, Nepotism and unawareness says it all.

You might like to reinforce failure all you like but don't drag Atiku to it.

Have you really looked at the people working with Atiku? Did you notice the smart selection of sound people both from the business and political classes? Peter Obi, Saraki, Segun Sowunmi, Osita Chidoka, ...etc. Smart people, people ready to work.

Be there and be daydreaming. We cannot be with you when you're willing to wallow in the poverty Buhari, by his actions and unawareness has brought this country to.

It's either Roger Federer or Novak Djokovic for the men's title.
You don't rule out Nadal though.
The you bloods will push - Sasha Zverev, Khachanov and Coriç, but will they have the endurance to go 5 rounds?
Anderson and Delpo might cause some upsets especially against Federer should his game drop.

I'm rooting for Roger Federer sha, my Number 1 forever.

The sport I love so much.

Sadly DSTV decided this year to restrict Australian Open to Premium subscribers. I've consistently stayed on Compact plus the last 1 year and have enjoyed my Tennis on SS6, but this year's decision to restrict #AustralianOpen to SS2 is heartbreaking.

After this month, I'm so going down to DSTV family bouquet. After all I only watch Channels TV these days.

Sad DsTv subscriber.

1. Sadly for Peter Obi, the main take away from the just concluded VP debate is Peter Obi lying, this is what Nigerians are talking about.

2. Leaders should be able to make their point without lying or trying to deceive the people they are trying to lead and the people don't want lying and dishonest leaders.

3. It is clear to Nigerians that Peter Obi is a liar and every time he opens his mouth, he lies. Peter Obi lied a few days ago that his account was frozen by a government agency, but he refused to show proof or even name the agency.

4 Peter Obi lied about not owning a house outside his state, but he is the owner of a mansion in London, he lied about expensive wristwatch and so on.

5, Peter Obi is self-destructive because he is a prolific liar and a dishonest human being and lying is his main problem, not what you are ranting about.

6. If you love Peter Obi, tell him to stop lying.
Oh Lord..

I give to Jumia though.

They've really improved recently. I just wish their 3rd party sellers will fall in line and be frank about what they sell on the platform.
Customers get a lot of junk that looked good and beautifully described.

These days, I don't buy online items I haven't seen before.

Their riders should be trained too. Recently had an issue about one of their riders which I called their contact center to make a report.

Jumia is someone's investment, the distribution chain should be intact, if not the business might just collapse at the weakest link of the chain.

Obi talks issues and facts like we have 2 million cars in Nigeria?

Mentioning Iran instead of Iraq?

Undermining the effects of corruption to the economy?

Please......be objective!
I've been ignoring the pettiness of Nigerians on this forum.

He said Nigeria has 2M cars, NBS said 12M cars? Who knows the REAL figure? Do we even know the actual population of human beings in Nigeria. These figures are used in perspective.
That's not even the point when he mentioned that figure. The real issue is that about #480B was budgeted for Education in Nigeria, and over #1Tr was budgeted for fuel subsidy! Fuel that how many cars use? Fuel that how many generators use.
Could we have used that 1Tr to solve power challenge? Could we have invested it in Education, in health?
No, that's not the point you guys want to listen to, you want to fight petty fight of whether Nigeria has 2million cars or not.

Nigeria is the 3rd most dangerous countries in the world in terms of terrorism!
What does it matter who Numbers 1&2 are. What if they are UK and Germany, would it have made any difference?
What if it's Iraq and Not Iran? Would it have made us less dangerous?

I cringe at how shallow we have become as a country.

Perfectbeing:
Can someone mention just one person he/she knows that lost his/her job in the last 3 years. Tell us the work he/she was doing before it was lost.
I won't mention names.

I work in a Nigerian bank. In 2016, banks laid off nearly 5000 FULL STAFF, infact, Ecobank laid off 1,350 FULL staff.
It came to a point that it became a national crises that the minister of labour had to meet with the bankers committee to lobby them to stem the tide.

I lost a lot of my friends and fine bankers whose only offense was working during a repressive government regime.

This is just Banking industry.

Because I work in a bank, I can tell you authoritatively because we process workers payments.

The number of jobs lost in the construction industry, Consultancy industry, even health sectors was so many that we became so afraid.

The unfortunate thing about job loss is it's ripple effect. Lots of people who depend on those that lost their jobs also became destitutes automatically.
I know how much more I had to spend on friends.
And this happened when the state of the economy was at its lowest ebb, when inflation will eat up all the salary you might receive.

The figures are real. You may want to wish it away, but in Buhari's government, I witnessed the first real repression in the whole of my 35 years, sadly he is very clueless about solving it.

It's not by dashing people 10k that you take them out of poverty.

It's by revitalizing the macro economy so that industries will be profitable, good paying jobs will be available, people's purchasing power will improve, and traders can now cash in.

Sadly, Buhari isn't the one.

I remember how some of my Yoruba friends carry PDP for head until the emergence of the two known bigots Atiku-Obi. Now most of them will rather not vote than voting a party that has ganged up against the Yoruba race.

My question is.... How will Obi that once taunted his opponent "Yoruba man" so as to discredit him and win election in his state now come and campaign to the real Yorubas in the west??

grin
You're a product of the unnecessary division that Buhari and APC has caused in the country.

Saying that Obi and Atiku are bigots is just plain stupid, but then it will take a while before you clearly understand that the hate and division that APC and Buhari has created amongst us does not in any way add food on our table, give jobs to our jobless friends. It only distracts you from focusing on the important things on governance for which they have failed woefully.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2016 Npower Beneficiaries To Be Enhanced - Npower by echelons(m):
Npower, just like Market Moni is just a way this government has devised to pay peanuts to Nigerians, keep their dreams limited, and make them subservient.
The beneficiaries of the programs will tell you "Half a loaf is better than nothing". But come to think of it, what does the pay do for them? Nothing, but keeping them alive to hope for the next peanuts.

Looking at it critically, those that have been receiving Npower funds, how have their lives improved?
How many of those youths even participate in the community service that's attached to the program.

What if rather than give 1Million people 30K monthly, you set up 30 thousand entrepreneurs with 1million naira, for 12 sets.

Same money will be spent, but the impact will be more profound.

That's Peter Obi's position has always been spot on.

It only takes a smart government to decipher what will grow the economy. Sadly this administration is far from smart.

Nigerian institutions are so weak, that's why a lot of institutions and businesses don't even pay their staff up to the minimum wage, even as ridiculously low as it is now.

michaelbiz:
There is a level of understanding you should have about any competition:

Talk C.Ronaldo, L.Messi, and any other star player, there's an aura of respect for a champ.
Even when emotions go hot, you cannot just give any of these guys a Red Card just like that.

When, you hear her (Serena) saying "You know me...", it has gotten to the height of disrespect, so why should you do this kind of thing to me - knowing that the service was mine, you gave it to Osaka! because you CLAIMED I was getting coaching by the sidelines!

That's like way, way too high disrespect.
The guy will still apologize later, but the whole thing was to make Osaka "look" like the better player, (she was, actually but not by the umprie adding disrespect to Serena)!
They just did MK-Ultra (mind control) for Serena.
Period!
No matter the aura you exude as a top player, you're not above the rules.
Ronaldo, Messi, Zidane etc have all gotten justifiable Red cards in their careers, and in some crucial matches too.

She got a in-game coaching from her coach - code violation: warning.
She was broken in her Service game, so she broke her racquet - code violation: point deduction.
She called an umpire a THIEF - code violation: game loss.

Naomi Osaka was better than her throughout the match.
Serena was obviously having high expectations, so she buckled under.

I watched the game live, and I was so disappointed.

She's just whipping up sentiments with the sexism, racism rants.

She was beaten fair and square by Osaka.

You needed to have watched that game live.
She was rude and disrespectful.
She's just playing a stupid victim card.
Naomi was way better than Serena in that match, so she was under a whole lot of pressure.
She's been in the game a long time to know the rules.
That other people stole cars and got away with it doesn't mean if you steal a bicycle you should get away with it too, no matter the gender.

It was a terrible Serena that I saw yesterday - terrible in character and game play.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself. This is the same comments white men used to make when she was beating their blue eyed princesses.

Serena has earned the right to make her comments. She is the greatest female tennis player ever, and I guess no one in your whole family has achieved 1% of what she has.

And this is inspite of the extreme racism black tennis players have had to endure.

23 grand slams and counting. We need that 24thr title to remove that Australian woman from the records.

It’s going to be tough to get to 24 but somehow she will make it.

For those who can’t reason properly, this is Serena’s 2nd final since returning from child birth - which in itself is an inspiration for all working mothers worldwide.
You're just typing with emotions.
The same unreasonable emotions she couldn't control that got her into undue mess.
I watched the game yesterday, and Naomi was a far better player.
Calm, calculative and was hitting it right.
Serena was under pressure to win, so many celebrities came to watch her, and she buckled under the pressure.
How can you justify her calling a Chair umpire a thief?
In football, that's a Red card straight.
She got coaching from her team, smatched her racket, and called the umpire a thief. That's so much disrespect to a sport that made her.

Whatever she's looking forward to achieving in her career shouldn't be to the detriment of another person's career.
Her actions has put a lot of pressure to a renowned umpire, Ramos' career, and that is not fair.
