Lol.

I grew up in a complex society in my formative years with the Ilajes, Hausas, Ijaws, Ghanaians and a few Urhobo folks. Interestingly, I bloomed late when I should have started talking. It was more of confusion for me at the time. The funniest part came years later because I could clearly understand them and respond in pidgin or English. Mostly pure English because I can barely speak pidgin for five straight minutes cheesy

I understand Isoko quite well. By the way, is Uvwie the same as Ughweru? Not sure if I got that correctly.
nope. not same.

let me test you a little, translate the following in English

Oro'kwa boma' ru'fe (Uvwie Dialect)

The Okpe part though. grin

I understand Uvwie perfectly but can't speak it.

That of Okpe... Oh well, it's like German because Spanish is even simpler to learn cheesy

I understand Isoko quite well even though I can't speak it at all.
you are just deluding yourself, believe me. grin. grin even oga fratermathy don't understand uvwie and isoko. you one form king Kong for here, you make stay lag.

If you can understand uvwie and isoko, then you can understand okpe, Have you listen to some core isoko language?, believe me you won't pick a word.

grin.

when I was in Sapele/Oghara area although I didn't pick up much because most people were bilingual in pidgin English. The generally acceptable Urhobo was that from Ughelli. Closer to written Urhobo. People from Oghara/Mosogar/Jese tend to speak a certain dialect while Okpe(Sapele) according to many is an entirely different language. Okpe people understand spoken Urhobo but not so in reverse. I went to somewhere in Isoko with some Urhobo friends then and they conversed in pidgin with the natives. I think abraka is another area with a different dialect cluster.
Abraka dialect is not hard to understand if you can understand ughelli, The okpe dialect is like French to me, in fact I don't understand any shit. lol..

Though there is a "general Yoruba" language (general cos it is the accepted Yoruba language for literature), there are many dialects that I hardly understand if spoken. eg Egba, Ijebu, Akoko, awori, Ilaje and few others I can't recollect.

There are some that I can understand to an extent, eg Ondo, Sarki, Owo.

But anytime and anyday, Yoruba dialects of Ife, Oyo, Ijesha, Ekiti, I will surely understand wherever they are spoken.
Ilaje is entirely different from general Yoruba language, I think it's more closer to Itsekiri, so that's the reason you don't understand it.

how is ijebu dialect like? , I heard it's like Chinese to some of you.

How Well do you understand other Dialect of your language?

URHOBO: The urhobo language is spoken in Delta State and Some part of Bayelsa. below are some dialect of urhobo I understand.

General Urhobo : This is the urhobo generally accepted by everyone

Uvwie : the uvwie dialect is spoken in Places like Ekpan, Effurun, Ebrumede e. tc, I clearly understand this dialect even thou am not that perfect, I can communicate clearly with it (Novice thou).

Dialect I Find Difficult to Understand;

Isoko: although the Isoko dialect is a language on it's own, it still remains a branch of the urhobo language.

Okpe: The okpe Dialect is like Spanish to some of us, even fratermathy can't decode it without counting the words grin, the dialect Is closely related to Uvwie and Isoko than general urhobo language.

Fratermathy and Sanchez01 how well do you understand other urhobo dialect?

Onuwaje, since itsekiri has one dialect, how well do you understand ondo and ijebu language?

Stop churning facts out of your ass to make a point. Where have you ever seen ladies encouraging themselves to sleep with married men, except if they are all side chicks.

We have side guys too, they also encourage each other. It's their line of business.

On every thread a woman cheats, she is the one that gets majority of the insult. Whether you guys encourage such guys or not is totally irrelevant. It doesn't stop them from sleeping with married women. Same way discouraging such girls won't stop it, so far married men remain willing.

The only thing is, unlike men...women are very coded. A married man can easily tell his friend he has a side chic, a married woman would most likely never tell anyone, even her shadow.

Plz, you men should begin to take actions and stop blaming the other woman. Having in mind that men claim to be more sensible.
Madam am a guy and I know what am saying, what's the percentage of guys going after married ladies, have you ever seen any young guy going after any married woman?.

Ever been in a guys gathering?, watch as they trash any guy eyeing a married lady, but that's not the same with ladies, any guy that's rich they go after them, they don't even care if the man is married or not.

A married man once told me that ladies are the ones chasing after him, It's a common trend in Nigeria, in fact most mothers knows their daughters are going after married men but they don't say anything, instead they encourage it.

and yea Men are wiser than women.

cheers

Having ur own family wit beautiful kids, is d best thing that can ever happen to any being.

Stop giving Nija ladies unreasonable hope. Lols
Must everything be in the Bible?, oga life has gone beyond what any book or pastors says, getting married is not everything.

Am not giving anybody hope, I just hate the way they castigate our ladies, mocking someone because she is not married Is stupid and foolish, I really don't care what any Holy book says.

Go to advance country and see what people are doing with their lives, not here in Africa you see people bending to the norms of the Society.

cheating doesn't belong to any gender, there are men who don't cheat as there are women who cheat.
you ladies lack morals, you expect us to clean up your mess.

When a single guy goes after a married woman you will see guys discouraging him, insulting him and making sure he backs out, but if it's ladies, they will advise the single girl to sleep with the married man provided there is money, why are you now complaining ?

Go n tell you fellow ladies to let married men be, am a guy and I don't fancy any married lady, won't even get an erection for any married lady, preach to your fellow girls and let us be.

what kind of fvckery is this, I don't know why you lots keep attacking ladies.

been single has nothing to do with your faith, I know a lot of slay queens who are still single, club girls who are still single, hot cheeks who are still single and mind you they are in their late 30's.

why exempting Christian ladies? , what works for Mr A might not work for Mr B, marriage is not for every one, I still don't know why people thinks if you are not married you are not fulfilled.

please grow up.

No one is inferior to anyone, tell that to ur "core delta" activist fatermaty
Urhobo population is less than 6million and urhobo don't travel much, urhobo mostly reside in SW especially Lagos, ogun and Ondo, most people actually thinks urhobo are the only tribe in Delta state. but I doubt if any Nigerian haven't met any urhobo man before.

that been said, Urhobo remains a player when it comes to Niger Delta affair.

I haven't use the word core-deltan before, so you should direct your query to fratermathy, and the word core-delta means people who reside in Delta central and South, and it doesn't in anyway means urhobo are inferior/superior to any body.

most Itsekiris and ijaw make use of Core deltans too

Thanks for reminding me. We also have:
1. Vanguard Newspapers (Sam Amuko)
2. The Pointer Newspapers
3. The Guardian Newspaper (Ibru)

The only thing Igbos truly have on your list is
1. Ibeto (don't even know that one so its useless).
2. Eastern locked ThisDay and The Authority/Telegraph (No one reads them elsewhere).
3. Masters/Tonimas Oil (Unknown). There are a hundred oil companies owned by Urhobos as well. I wonder how these ones are "multistate" or "multinational".

Every other comapany on your list is a conglomerate, owned collectively by SHAREHOLDERS. I am a shareholder in Zenith Bank and that also makes me part owner of that bank too. Same logic with Fidelity Bank. ZinoX Computers is also a conglomerate co-owned by many people. An Igbo only happens to be the GMD. Urhobos will match you hands down.

Almost all the universities in Igboland offer B.Engr petrochemical/chemical engineering from almighty UNN to futo, unizik etc
nnewi alone has more rich people than the hole of urhobos, dont argue the unarguable,
no urhobo man has made it ever before in top 20 richest nigerians,
oya answer me, name 5 top industries owned by urhobos in nigeria
Madam read about PTI before you blad what you don't know. PTi was a special school, A prerequisite for Nigeria to be among a member state of opec.

And yes, this is a beef between Igbo and Urhobo, probably out of envy. So it shouldn't be covered. It is what it is and thank goodness that the thread's title speaks for itself.
I doubt if she can tell us the exact oil production, won't be more than what isoko produces.

do u also doubt that?
Now answer me, tell me 5 top companies/industries owned by urhobos in Nigeria?
madam I thought our earlier agreement was on your state, why are you tagging the entire igbo?

Urhobo land is not as big as igbo land na. it's like comparing China to Ghana. compare your state with urhobo nation.. and watch how I dismantle you this afternoon.

fratermathy don't argue further, let's compare with equal size and potential, she shouldn't compare the entire igbo race with urhobo.

No matter what the urhobo nation are not inferior to any tribe or group of people, in your earlier post you intend mocking urhobo until I fired you.

You wanted to measure d*cks with Urhobo and we gave you the opportunity to match what we have achieved as core Deltans with what you have (since you said we haven't achieved anything). Instead of focusing on the said achievements, you went to bring in an assembly plant.

Oya I match that with Delta Steel Complex, Aladja. We produce steel, you assemble cars (also made from steel). We also produce glass and electricity (both at Ughelli).

Move on now to the next cognates.
