I don't think u understood my comment and I'm from ogun restructuring means giving states control of their resources without any interference from the federal government now tell me if they carry on with this how many states can survive on their own it is only a scheme to make some certain governors more powerful
When we say restructuring, we mean everybody going back to the table to discuss the way forward, each ethnic group will b represented, the issue of state might be resolved, regional system might be adopted.

Support will be given to poor region, they should let those of us from the Delta to enjoy our God given resources.

so the oil spillage in ilaje is onshore?

and you can't compare onshore and offshore field, both are not the same. onshore needs more attention because people reside around unlike offshore.

fratermathy:
Oil Spillage has become the sad reality of the Delta today. From the Western end of Ondo to the Eastern end of Akwa Ibom, oil spillage is a recurrent decimal.

In itself, oil spillage is not the problem because it can be cleaned and it is not unique to Nigeria. The problem, however, is the government's lack of interest in the plight of the poor fishermen and riverine dwellers of the Delta who have to face the reality of black oil on their land and waters. The oil companies pay little to no interest to these spills and even when monies are disbursed for cleanup, they end up on the stomach of the so-called Niger Delta leaders.

What about the militants that claim to fight for the rights of the people by blowing up pipes (and by extension causing more spillages)? Many of them have been bought off by the FG. The amount of money the FG spends to feed the ex-militants in a month is enough to clean up a large section of the oil spills in Urhobo/Isokoland. What are the militants doing about it now that their purses are full?

The blame for these spills goes to each and every one of us. To the government, for its negligence and blatant disregard for the welfare of its citizens who have to suffer the bitter taste of black crude, spilt over their water and land. To the Niger Delta leaders who eat the little money that may be used to satiate the plights of the jobless fishermen, farmers, and riverine dwellers who have nowhere to go. To the militants and agitators who use a genuine cause to enrich themselves at the detriment of the people they swore to fight for. To the average Nigerian who turns away from sordid images such as the ones on this thread; who rather pretends not to know what their fellow citizens are facing every day.

The Niger Delta is a mistreated and wealthy bride of Nigeria. She may not know her true worth now or have good leaders and agitators, but a day will come when the bride shall say enough is enough. When that day comes, Nigeria will stand still and see the evil its leaders and the oil companies have done against a once arable and ecologically rich region. No one, not even our closest neighbours, can help us. We alone have to break free of the chains we have allowed ourselves to be entrapped in.

Effect on the Hopeless people of Niger Delta

* No more fishing in our riverine communities, ilaje, itsekiri and ijaw waters are almost useless now

* Our Mothers and fathers no longer farm

* We no longer drink good water

* Our land looks underdeveloped.

Our Plead

* We ask the federal government to look into this issue, and find a way to compensate each communities

* Each region should be allowed to control their resources, with this we can be able to take care of any spillage

every tribe can't form a district, it's very idiotic. Webshoukd simple have regions n each region decides how to run themselves n most importantly each region would control their resources.
take for example South South Region.

Under sSouth region, we can have some sub region, instead of lumping everybody together and silencing the micro minorities, if we are to restructure this country, the interest of everyone should be protected.
PoliticsRe: Video Of President Buhari Addressing The Nation: Nigeria’s Unity Not Negotiable by Efewestern:
why I don't agree with Mr president on this, I think people should be allowed to decide their future, Nigeria should be ready to accept the reality on ground.

As someone from the minority group I don't believe in the division of Nigeria, I believe Nigeria should only be divided if we can't agree on a common ground.

Nigeria would forever remember Buhari if he restructured this country, I understand his fears and the fears of other Northerners , but I can assure any group that we will all benefit from a well restructured Nigeria.

How the country can be run:

Let every group control their resources and pay 30% tax to the central government.

Each minority group should be allowed to form a sub- District in their Region so as to protect the interest of Micro minorities. The itsekiri for Example can have a sub- district ,isoko can have theirs so they won't cry of marginalization .

The central government can assist states with little funding, This is the cry of everyone.

Restructure Nigeria now or Let each region go their separate ways.
PoliticsRe: No Restructuring, No 2019 Election –southern Leaders by Efewestern: 10:27am On Aug 18, 2017
Restructuring is the only way.

Urhobo says they want it
Ijaw says they want it
itsekiri says they want it
Efik says they want it.
all Niger Delta minorities need it.

let us control the resources in our land why paying tax to the central government, with the tax the Government can assist states that are poor and need rescue.

People need to understand that the best way to move this country forward is to restructure the country, let's go back to Regional System of government.

Sanchez01:
Funny. My point isn't in having this vehicle in Nigeria in the first place but looking, or better still, comparing prices.

If Innoson would clearly calculate the total cost of having a vehicle imported to Nigeria before pegging prices on their vehicles then I guess we are in for it.

Besides, I believe you would agree with me that the specs of the two cars are definitely not the same. It just goes on to prove that our local manufacturers are not ready.

Low end, build relationships and trust with your consumers coupled with quality assurance, if not deep enough, before thinking of competing properly. The rise of Tecno comes to mind.
lol, the guy is a business man, innoson is producing nothing in nwewi apart from soldering iron together, he imports the engine, the wheels, now couple with the cost of $ you don't expect him to sell at loss , this is just my argument here.

The company producing this car produces about A hundred thousand yearly why innoson only produces A thousand, since they are producing in bulk they tend to be cheaper compare to innoson that produces few cars.

Have you see where these cars are been produced?, everything is automated, Within some hours the car is ready, but in innoson they get to hire welder, electricians, engineers e. t. c. grin

I hope you get.

Sanchez01:
Efewestern, Amarabae, shall we compare this car starting at N5.2M to the Innoson car of N6.6M for manual transmission and N7.3M for its automatic transmission?

I hope you guys see my point now.
Okay let's do some little calculation.

This car cost 5.5m excluding clearance duty and the rest, if you are importing this car to Nigeria you are expected to pay 35% of the actual money you use in buying it as tax to the government in addition, you will pay surcharge, VAT, shipping and terminal charges as well as other miscellaneous charges. and since this car is a new model I.e 2017 and 2018 cars you are expected to pay surface duty of 70%.

35% duty = 1.85m + 5.2m = 7.2m

70% duty = 3.64m + 5.2 = 8.9m

Add other expenses to it then when should be having I.e 8m for 35% surface duty or 10m for 70%

now innoson motor cost 7m, which is cheaper? grin. grin

Efe, we just have to be blunt to get there. One of the reasons Nigeria hasn't improved as expected is because we still indulge sentiments in the face of truth.

Would you gladly shell out N7.3M for the car up there in the name of supporting our own? This is no Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa issue, far from it. Our indigenous manufacturers seem not to understand the basics of survival as fingerlings in a vast ocean of predators who have been known and trusted for decades.

This same sentiment was shown towards Omatek about three years ago when their computers started coming to light. People felt the need to patronise them because it was our own. How many of our own would gladly buy Omatek desktop computer with their pricing when it us near what HP is selling for?

[b[ How do you really convince a middle class Nigerian to buy that aside the 'patronise our own' sentiment? Our manufacturers have a long way to go, really. [/b]
I get oniovo, but consider the time and resources spent in producing each cars in a Nigeria environment, no standby electricity, we import almost everything, you don't expect him to run at loss.

We should support him, then at the same time pressure the FG to support him by providing enabling environment.

to be sincere it will be hard for innoson to break into the Nigeria market, not with the hate speech been spread around. people need to understand that we need each other.

@ bolded I clearly understand.

We should truly encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of Nigerians but Innoson isn't trying one bit. In a country where we hardly make ours and are fixated on importing, the proper thing to do is flood the market with your vehicle parts and give Nigerians just one reason why they should patronise their own. But no, a regular car design with no special highlighted features is branded a 'Pride of African Road' and pegged at N7M+ for its automatic transmission.

They are clearly not ready.
i clearly understand your point, but come to think of, we need to support one of our own, Nigeria as a nation will not grow If we don't patronize indigenous factory, igbos alone can't make this happen, even if the car is empty is better buying it than paying for foreign cars.

This piece has always been my mindset from the the very beginning. What people must understand is that there is big, big difference between restructuring and True Federalism and Resource Control.

We don't need restructuring because it would still be tweaked to accommodate the anomalies on ground. Rather, Federalism. Weaken the centre and give each region the play ground to develop at their own pace, using their respective resources. The United States' model comes to mind.
you can't achieve true federalism without restructuring. am glad we are all speaking with one voice, at least we know what we want.

I think our leaders have more to do, what about meeting other minority group that share same ideology with us, maybe we can align for a common cause, the majority ethnic group are greedy and domineering.

the north need to know that for Nigeria to move forward each region should as a matter of fact generate her own income, then with support from the centre to weak region, most states In NC are damm blessed I wonder why they are scared of true federalism.

For a minute there, I thought it was going to be one of those "we are not part of Biafra" statements that certain minorities use now and again to attract cheap publicity.

It is quite unfortunate for the Urhobo nation. They want restructuring but it wont be up to them if Nigeria is ever restructured. They dont have the luxury of seceding as this can only be achieved by any one of the 3 majorities as they are the only ones who have the numbers to pull it off.

In a essence, this entire statement by UPU or should I say Urhobos can be summarised as

"We Urhobos want a restructured Nigeria where we control our resources and politics. We are aware that the North will never allow restructuring to happen in Nigeria so we have resolved to become minority slaves who will eternally beg the North for control of our own resources.

Hopefully, 200 years from now, when North finally find Oil in the North, our slavery status will finally be lifted and Nigeria will be restructured"

I laugh in Swahili
you want us to believe restructuring won't be possible, but at the same time you want us to believe that secession will be possible, same way urhobo dream looks impossible to you and your ilks that's the same way your dream of secession looks funny to the urhobo nation.

On the issue of restructuring;

this is what all minorities want, you need to read the last publication from the itsekiri nation, almost same with this one.

Nobody will suffer when the country is been restructured, the north won't suffer, the east won't suffer, the west won't suffer, the reason the issue of restructuring is not gaining attention is because the majority ethic group are greedy and they think of only themselves.

SW only shout restructuring on the front page of newspaper , they actually don't want it.
SE actually don't need it, they need biafra
SS are the only group fighting for a well restructured Nigeria, because they know that's the only way to prosper

the north on the other hand will be forced to accept restructuring when other region agitate for it, but till then let every group keep fighting for their personal interest, don't insult the urhobo nation because they don't buy into your idea.

respect their decision same way they respect yours. thanks.
