True they pay tax but will they remain on the force if they alone paid tax? Can their tax payments alone keep them on the force? In the end they are paid by Nigerians to keep Nigeria safe but today all armed men, irrespective of their employers (be it the government or selfish individuals) are threats to the life of any not-so-privileged Nigerian. Cult members, the army, the police, SARS, armed robbers, ritualists, etc all have one thing in common which is: THEY ARE ARMED, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND MERCILESS ...it is the norm for average Nigerians to pray fervently not to ever encounter any armed person!

Have you heard of numerical methods of solving algebraic and transcendental equations? Bisection, Newton Raphson, Method of False position, Iteration method e.t.c.?

You will keep on iterating till the exact solution is found or a given epsilon value (allowed error) is reached.

If you start with the open interval (3,6) like you want and using bisection method, you'd get (sorry, I won't show the workings because I can't type and can't upload any picture since I'm using opera mini)

first itertate ( initial point) = 4.5
second iterate = 3.75
third iterate = 4.125
fourth iterate = 3.9375
fifth iterate = 4.03125

hope you see how this sequence is converging to 4?

If you have a computer and MATLAB installed ,try running this problem using [ITER] If you have it saved as an m file and you'd see how the technique works.

Thank you joshuakdboy, our eminent mathematician thankyoujesus did not present the iteration like you did...rather he chose the interval [3 5] and did not specify how he arrived at his choice. As for your later question my query about thankyoujesus's solution did not question his solution but how appropriately he used the so called theorem...and some secondary school students are by far smarter than some graduates grin

My son age 3 my daughter age 2 with random small talks or when she gets a crush on a cute boy, when she says she wants mom to marry Superman in the cartoon, when they give each other wedgies because it's funny etc. It is not what you must always sit them down to talk. As time goes on tho, you may have to start the talk.... like Marry, do you know what pedophile is? Then you go ahead to explain how you read in the papers a bunch of wicked adults sexually abusing kids and how sometimes they use fellow kids to lure their little friends etc. Then you let the child ask questions and explain accordingly. That alone will open the door to telling the a child how sacred the body is and a unique to only them etc. We do not talk only sex Ed, we talk safety, how to avoid danger, proper road crossing, porn and bad words in movies or cartoons etc.

you might want to be careful though. Because the formation of moral ideals in the mind of a child is usually an unstable process that may go either way - meaning the kid may accept your judgment of what is right or wrong or decide to try out what he or she has learned to form his or her own moral ideals. I believe for children at tender ages below 13, when children are yet to learn the connection between power and responsibility as well as morality, parents should do a lot of shielding to keep their children away from sexual information till their moral foundations are well set and some sense of responsibility has been instilled in the minds of the children!

The lack of appropriate sex education accounts for much of the sexual psychos, misfits, deviants and failures in our society...we tend to leave sex education to learning by trial and error and this leads to all manner of terrible outcomes! Parents who form holy when it comes to teaching their wards sex are ABOMINABLE HYPOCRITES who did all manner of stuff in their teens and early adulthood and were often scarred by terrible sexual decisions...As for me I am not ashamed to go 101% raw and explicit in teaching my above 13 year old kids about sex!

sir, mathematics is a lovely discipline...I do not have to be a professor of mathematics to know that there is a flaw in your mathematical reasoning. My simple question to you is; HOW DID YOU DETERMINE THE INTERVAL [3 5]? WAS IT BY INSPECTION (Anyone could do that) OR BY SOME MATHEMATICAL REASONING (which you did not specify in your solution).

Sir, I am not challenging the veracity of the theorem I am merely showing you that your solution is not a generalization. Your choice of 3 and 5 as the bounds in your interval was either by mere inspection or sheer guess and not based on mathematical reasoning. Nevertheless I may be wrong so tell us how you arrived at the use of 3 and 5 as the bounds of the interval you used. In addition, your interval is not unique as there is an infinite set of intervals that will satisfy the theorem above and yield the solution x=4 for the problem f(x)=2^x - 4x where f(x)=0 [because by inspection, the interval [x n-x] where n=8 and x<4 will always yield your solution according to your stated theorem.]

Sir just agree that your method is not a generalization. if a=3 and b=6 the condition f(3)<0 and f(6)>0 will be satisfied but the image of the mid-point f(4.5) is non-zero. Your solution begs the question; how did you determine the limits 3 and 4? Did you determine it by sheer guess work or by some mathematical reasoning you did not include in your solution?

Just as you started with her by mutual agreement, though based on your deception, your separation must also be by mutual agreement...this is the only time justice won't catch up with you and visit your wickedness upon you. If you no longer need her and you see that she also does not need you then good for you but if she is stuck on you as a result of your cajoling words then you must confess the truth to her and let her know you have been taking her for a ride all this while. Her response will determine your reaction!

bro indeed we all do wrong...but when that wrong involves ruining the life of someone else just to please yourself then such wrong must be recompensed. Yes I have offended people but I have never taken it upon myself to ruin the life of someone else just to please myself. I have had a lady crushing on me and I do not like her. I simply stopped relating with her and I stopped taking her compliments and endearment. But some people as impish as they can be will see this as an opportunity to make her believe they are on board and even promise her marriage just so they can user her, sleep with her thoroughly and dump her when she is no longer interesting! These same people will one day claim they have grown up and would like to settle down. They will now go out there looking for a faithful wife after making the potential wives of other men unfaithful in advance...what is evil is evil and hand may join in hand but the evil one will never go unpunished.

Balance is a fundamental feature of existence, science and all religions agree to this, and justice is the child of balance - no wonder the statue of Justice is a blindfolded woman with a sword and a balance...no one can escape justice, no one...

Bro all over the world tax and revenue figures are quite difficulty to get...you should visit the LIRS of Kaduna, meet with those that matter and negotiate getting these figures...alternatively you could do a case study of some taxable firms in Kaduna where you choose a sampling frame within Kaduna, design an electronic questionnaire and get the data via interviews (using ODK SUITE) and uphold the ethics of human subjects research. A sample size of 100 firms should do for your project work.
