A 38-year-old woman, Blessing Igwe, has been arraigned before a Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja for allegedly battering her disabled husband all the time. The woman, who was brought to court on Wednesday was also alleged to have resisted arrest. Igwe, who reside at CBN Estate at Apo in Abuja, is facing a three-count charge of assault, criminal intimidation and resisting lawful arrest. The Prosecutor, Mr. Fidelix Ogbobe, said that the complainant, one Robinson Igwe of Choos Estate, Apo reported the matter at the Apo Police Station on Aug. 2. Ogbobe alleged that the defendant was always taking advantage of her husband’s physical challenge to assault him all the time. “The defendant always takes advantage of her husband’s disability to assault him. The complainant is a physically challenged person, who uses crutches to walk. “He has been admitted in hospital because of a head injury as a result of assault and battery from his wife. “Despite police intervention the accused had repeatedly beaten her husband at the slighted provocation.’’ The prosecutor said that the complainant had petitioned the commissioner of police in Abuja on the matter. He said further the defendant had also absconded with two children produced by the union for over a year to an unknown destination. The defendant only reappeared on Aug. 1, after more than a year since she left her matrimonial home and sent the complainant out of his house for days. “But when the complainant reported the matter to the police, the defendant resisted arrest on three different occasions until she was finally arrested on the fourth attempt by the police,’’ Ogbobe said. He also alleged that the defendant had also threatened to kill the complainant. According to him, the offences contravene Sections 265, 397 and 172 of the Penal Code. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty. The Presiding Judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety in like sum. Kagarko adjourned the case until Oct.17. (NAN) |
UNIBEND ... if you like be plastic or iron, you must bend! ![]() |
SwayG:Must you die in UNIBEN? Do you know what is going in in the labour market today? Imagine going through all this stress and you end up getting a #50,000 job after attending five consecutive interviews ( and telling all the lies that even satan cannot tell ) in a firm that sees you as a little more than a piece of trash. If you have skills in Tailoring and Programming bros look for ways to build your practice to the professional level and I assure you that you will make money with your skillset! As for your UTME things just try another school and make sure you are studying a course relevant to your passion so you don't spend four years swimming in the fires of hell itself...Study a course related to Programming, if it is your passion, follow it through no matter how long it takes you to enter school and in the end it will profit you greatly! Ultimately my counsel is, PLACE SKILLS ABOVE CERTIFICATION AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ABOVE IN THE LABOUR MARKET! |
I would like to get an accommodation in Kano, in the BUK New site area, Off Gwarzo road...any help would be appreciated. |
NigeriaKitchen:Bros! I bow for your statistics ohhh...Do your statistics have any source? Just having sex with your fiance before marriage does not a guarantee or pose an obstacle to a successful marriage rather the intentions behind the act is what counts. When a lady sees sex as an opportunity to secure a marriage proposal from a man she is highly likely to have a marriage that will hit the rocks sooner than later, if at all the marriage even starts... Sex is an act that is highly pleasurable and in our time sex could be as cheap as a bottle of malt. So in a world of very cheap sex, sex is not a reliable foundation for marriage so I assure you the guy wey just one chop and clean mouth go still find another babe to chop and clean mouth if the earlier babe for one reason or the other no dey available or palatable. You spoke of a lady with amazing character and other qualities, but how many guys know the worth of such a lady? That's one. Two, we commonly say no one is perfect so it is expected that that lady with amazing character and qualities may one day falter. Shey the guy wey just wan chop and clean mouth no go play away match wen the angelic babe unleashes the demon in her just once in a year!? Lastly, in a world with millions of men but very few responsible and faithful men, Solomon puts the ratio at 1000:1 (Ecclesiastes 7:28), what is the likelihood that this lady would finally give her honey pot to the right man before she turns 50? I can assure you that even if she does find the right man by serving her honey pot to every idiot that looks like a man, her honey pot would have become a watering can by the time she meets Mr. Right who turns out to be the fool paying the price of the gamble of an equally foolish lady! |
This is what makes education in Nigeria a sheer waste of good time...imagine someone spending years perfecting the art of being a criminal and not a doctor bound by the ethics of the profession...Human capital in Nigeria is in dire straits and its so bad that not even current researches give cognizance to the research problems in this significant area of the society! |
Must you give up your body as a price to get a man? Are good men really that expensive or is your body so cheap...Keep your body, be a good woman with great virtues, align with GOD, sculpt the path of your future husband with prayers (though you have never met him) and soon enough you will be out of this hex you are in. |
very soon Pharmacy as a course of study will be extinct because Robots with the latest advance in artificial intelligence will soon make the job of a pharmacist quite useless...on second thought, I believe the worst Pharmacy student is the student of Pharmacy that never graduated and I believe a drop-out is much worse than the best graduating student in a field as less inviting as Philosophy or Yoruba...the labour market will agree very much with me particularly in this recession! |
Our problem is that we do not see beyond ourselves...give an average Nigerian, irrespective of descent or ethnicity, 100 million dollars and all he can think about is himself and all that concerns him materially! As long as we are all about ourselves, Nigeria will remain what it is or mostly likely get much worse. |
It is saddening...so saddening! The kingdom of darkness punish erring members and deviant behaviours while ensuring they do not bring their secret faults to the public knowledge of all...but among so called Christians moral norms are watery as what one Christian considers good another considers bad and they display they passion for the superiority of argument for the whole world to see...satan laughs, Jesus weeps over and over again...for over 2000 years until today, the children of this world remain wiser in their generations than those of light (Luke 16: 8 ). It is such a shame!!! |
A lot of things are sickening about this story! First you all say muslims are lost and now all other non-catholic denominations are in the darkness. Next being a catholic means you can only marry a catholic - where on earth is that coming from! Then the threats of not burying your parents - when did burying a heap of dust require the special services of the church! This is madness among so called Christians that make Atheism quite attractive. |
Anytime i need a good laugh, I just come on nairaland to read the comments of the pros and cons of biafra...their comments are hilarious!!! |
LionDeLeo:This is an epic description of the sheer lack of cohesion among the Igbos and this is the reason they can never produce a presidential candidate...they never agree! |
monimekaz:A 40-page term paper for one thousand naira!? Quite outstanding! Is that fee negotiable or is it a flat fee? Also in what field of study are these term papers domiciled? |
johnnybleez:what kind of writers do you need...you mentioned "projects", what kind of write ups do you do? Be specific! |
Guy you need make them format your brain, virus don scatter am!!! If after buying a bottle of soft drink you find out that a dead cockroach was in the liquid content would you for any reason still go ahead and enjoy the drink? You may rightly say no but I assure you that it is better to drink such a polluted soft drink than to marry a lady whose heinous act, which has gone on for years unnoticed, was exposed days before your wedding... committing suicide now and going straight to hell is quite commensurate to marrying such a lady and having double dose of eternal torment here on earth! |
OP, sentiment apart! do away with that lady. if she sees nothing wrong in being in such a compromising situation then move on...no sane woman will take that from a man and vice versa... |
corruption, marginalization, tyranny and crime do not have an ethnic face at all...A yoruba man must collude with a hausa man to assist an igbo man in carting away the commonwealth of the country! Biafra can never work and can never happen and I know this because I know that some powerful igbo men and women who enjoy the assistance of lying yoruba men and women and tyrannical hausa men and women in looting the commonwealth of this country will never allow Biafra be...The worst enemy of Biafra are the igbo men and women whose wealth in founded on pilfering the commonwealth of this country Nigeria. The igbo elite realize that Biafra will re-write the equations of power and thereby raise uncertainty in the distribution of wealth and I assure you that the igbo elite with the support of the yoruba and hausa elite do not want any alteration to the current distribution of wealth via any means necessary! Ndigbos wake up! This is not a Biafra versus Nigeria battle, it is the Rich versus the Poor battle...Nigerians wake up, Ndigbos wake up... |
lucrownt:The true progressive youths in Nigeria have failed Nigeria...We sit down in our homes and lament! We complain about the ills of this country but we do not coalesce our thoughts and plans for this country...If we the progressive youths are really ready to sacrifice time and effort, sacrifice personal interests in lieu of national interest and stamp our records in the history of this country as national heroes then we must wake up, join our voices, be immune to ethnocentric fractionalization and rise against the upper class elite who have taken it upon themselves to enslave this country! |
littlewonders:You wan sey yu no know sey if our brothers up there vex...dem fit reconfigure pessin head with cutlass! |
Adiola:This is just evasive speech! If you guys commence your mass movement from all regions of Nigeria to Biafraland the government of the day will see your seriousness and the government cannot stop your mass movements of people and resources owned by Biafrans...you guys scream Biafra but you all do not love your Biafra at all. If you all loved your Biafraland you would have built sound infrastructure, invested in your land only and transform Biafraland to an enviable region but you guys are all talk and no action... |
pureorganic:which referendum? If you guys are interested in leaving THEN LEAVE...why is it so hard for you guys to practice what you preach? You guys declared Nigeria a Zoo, yet you remain in this same Zoo for ages, you have investments in the same Zoo, you have married wives and husbands from this same Zoo, you have had university degrees from schools in the same Zoo...now after insulting the collective intelligence of all Nigerians, you guys have been given the blank cheque to get what you want but you guys are dragging your feet...by now, we ought to see a massive exodus of Biafrans from every part of Nigeria to their homeland but we are yet to see that... If una wan go make una go...else shut up and let's have some peace! |
This is the trademark of the Igbos...they are the worst enemies of themselves! Their unison may be strong today but throw some cash among them tomorrow and they will hunt each other till the death...The Yorubas and Hausas know how to tease apart any Igbo group and they have successfully kept them off the number one seat for decades...MONEY IS THE KEY, GIVE THEM MONEY AND THEY WILL FIGHT EACH OTHER... |
Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba...a bunch of very funny folks! Atiku is of the North extraction, Orji Uzor Kalu is an Ndigbo and Tinubu is a Yoruba man all three men and their ilks from their respect ethnic affiliations all have one thing in common...they belong to the exclusive Nigerian elite club and their interests are completely at variance with those of the larger society! Paupers, by the standards of these elite, come on nairaland and other social media to spill their bitter ethnocentric bile in support of larger ethnic interests not knowing that their elites do not have these ethnic interests at heart but use the advantage of ethnicity to rally the support of gullible ethnocentric masses towards the achievement of self interests completely at variance with their ethnic interests! The Chinese governments over a period of four decades lifted about 800 million Chinese above the national poverty line and into suitable standards of living, according to World Bank estimates...How many yorubas have been lifted above the poverty line since the rule of yoruba governors in yoruba states? How many igbos have been lifted above the poverty line since the rule of igbo governors in ndigbo states? How many hausas have been lifted above the poverty line since the rule of hausa governors in hausa states? Yet these states federal allocation monthly and record IGRs, no matter how little, monthly. Nigerians need to wake up and see that A MAN'S FOES ARE THOSE OF HIS HOUSEHOLD! T'ota ile o ba pa ni, t'ode o le pa ni... |
Funny!!! These same people are clamoring for secession. So they have differences and disagreements even among them...If only secession were easy, I forecast that secessions will go on until there is no government at all at any level...even husbands and wives would also seek a secession of sorts from the stranglehold of their homes... We are all different, but being different does not make us disjointed...we need to recognize, realize, respect and revere our differences and seek out how we bond...this is the only way we can move forward! |
I can just imagine the spate of robberies that would hit the east if they secede now...without first putting in place a contingency plan towards addressing the inevitable economic, social and political effects of secession... |
Omooba77:As far as i am concerned, the only reason for the dwindling numbers of the youth in church is the LACK OF POWER TO BUILD YOUTHS WHOSE LIVES ARE DOMICILED IN THE SPIRIT. Since we were born, we have known the physical. We know the taste of food, the pleasure of sex, the bliss of money and all other material aspects of reality...but we have been largely ignorant of the pleasures in the spirit and our churches are not doing a great job in bringing young people into a life in the spirit... Christianity is spiritual and if you expunge spirituality from the church it becomes a boring waste of time going to church...will a youth find church worth the while if he knows that he lives a life of sin but yet he is officiating as a church worker and there is no effort by the church to ensure that he lives a sinless life? Unless that youth has some material gains he reaps from going to church he will cease going to church! The time has come for PREACHING AND TEACHING to cease being IN ENTICING WORDS OF A MAN'S WISDOM drawn from theological research but must be IN THE DEMONSTRATION OF SPIRIT AND POWER...this is what will draw the youths nigh unto GOD. |
@etimocracy, @chiomamee and @fizzy4luv I have sent some links to ebooks and the dataset in Damodar Gujarati. I hope you all find these resources useful. Many thanks. |
