After Ekiti gubernatorial elections, I almost completely gave up on Nigeria because of the seemingly irredeemable vote buying that keeps raising its ugly head! Why would anyone sell his/her vote for money or foodstuffs? There are many explanations for this that I am not ready to delve into in this article now. However, if poverty is the reason as easily suggested whenever this issue is raised, why only in Nigeria? Do politicians buy votes elsewhere? Outside Nigeria, do the electorate sell their votes for money? Is Nigeria the only country in the world with high poverty rate? I am greatly disturbed by this development. Vote buying implies that a known thief or a fraudulent person can present himself for election as long as he has the financial muscle to buy off the voters he knows that he would win! Where does that leave competence and credibility? Your guess is as good as mine. If we really want to solve the corruption problem of Nigeria, then we should not take vote buying and the general monetisation of our electoral process for granted. It's delusional to think that the people who caused the problem of Nigeria will be the ones to solve it. It won't happen! Because they can afford the majority of us should not make us cheap for them to buy! |
What you don't eat you don't use your teeth to share it! Stop collecting money to vote your conscience thereafter! You've morally lost your conscience once you collect that money/gift in the name of elections. Your vote is your future, it doesn't matter if your preferred candidate wins! Don't Sell It. |
And you collected it? What kind of hunger will make a man mortgage his future for a pack of Garri? Does this vote buying happen in other African countries? |
At least, her vote shows that LP/Lasun/Obi is not just limited to Social Media! Is Mama at 92 a social media user? No one in his/her right frame of mind will queue behind a failed party like APC! What is their score card? Godoverevery: |
You're accurate in your observations! I can assure you that Obi supporters are ready to give their all in his support. That's the opposite of the norm in Nigerian politics! Usually, politicians are the ones that give to the electorate but in Obi's case, the reverse is the case. LollySeaSide: |
workchopNG:Best response ever. |
'No change' after shopping at the shopping Mall. It seems that it is a deliberate move by cashiers to rip off shoppers. |
Anybody still supporting the two major political parties is sick of 'Stockholm Disease' and Peter Obi should be the prescribed cure! How Nigerians clap for the same people that plunged them into almost irrecoverable poverty beats me! |
Brown Envelope journalism. Anyone that contested against Tinubu or refused to step down for him at the primary must be vilified! This is not a good omen for the country should he win at the polls next year. |
okeyumez:Chai! You sabi Lagos. Each time I am going out in Lagos, I get apprehensive just because of the roads. How can one not be able to predict his journey time because he could be held up at any given time in traffic for hours? I don't know why people sing song of praise for Lagos state government! |
We have since 2007 been crying for independent candidates to be enshrined in our Constitution. Now, we have something that seems close to it in Peter Obi, yet we yelling he lacks political structure! What is wrong with us? If he was an independent candidate, under which structure would he have run? Let's work it out because he's the only viable option we have now. |
The ban should be total and not the selected one in place right now! Our youths should go back to acquiring productive skills that are now lacking in Nigeria. Artisans are now imported from Togo and Benin republic! Our boys are busy doing yahoo and riding bikes for quick and easy money. |
Before there was Okada business in the early 90s, how were we commuting ![]() In my area, all the artisans that I know have since abandoned their trade and skills for riding Okada! Okada, has made Nigerians lazy. Today, skill acquisition is now an aberration for young men! They are either riding okada/keke or doing Yahoo! What a country!!! |
Wow! 1987 I was in class 5 waiting to write my WAEC! This man deserves some respect for such a fit at just 27 years of age. Early genuine success well managed is the best |
What is it with this kidney problem killing men in Nigeria in recent times? Kidney diseases of all kinds are becoming rampant! Before you say it's due to alcohol and cigarettes, I have seen kidney patients who never indulge in those things and yet had it! |
I used to have a phobia of pond water, height, and blood when growing up but now, as an adult, my only phobia is for dead bodies! I just can't look at dead bodies! |
That nauseating vomit from Akpabio though! We are praying for a deliverer from this present maladministration of Nigeria and an aspirant is praying to perpetuate that disaster! Some sycophants don't know when to stop! |

It would be unforgiving for those who seeks revolutionary economic/political change for Nigeria not to vote for Peter Obi! Atiku should collapse his political machinery to help this guy get elected. |
Blame religion in all this! Religion prey on people's ignorance but remember that Christianity is supposed to be a way of life. OP, remove the image used! That's a wrong picture of the pastor in question. The picture you used is of another pastor based in the USA. |
We should be reminded of the comatose state of our health care system! Pray that you don't have any serious reason to visit any hospitals even for those who can afford it. The decadence is too deep. Try to do a diagnostic in two or three different labs for the same problem, you'll be amazed at the results that you'll get. RIP to the dead. |
Noise! We are too Noisy, we are too Loud! Foolish Optimism is the reason we are unable to make rational decisions. I just watched a prayer match for a Nigerian politician and a presidential hopeful far away in Mecca! A place that's supposed to be sacred! Where did Biden and Macron go for prayers before they won elections in their country? |
What could have led a promising young lady to slump and die just like that? God have mercy. |
There's nothing politicians won't do to change the narrative when the need arises. He will soon be humbled. |
You have an ample opportunity to reorientate yourself! |
No doubt at all! I am not surprised. How can professors queue up to elect a man whose school certificate was even in doubt and disputed! All the brilliant aspirants for 2023 election are uncelebrated because of tribal sentiment! Where is Lalasticlala? |
For his mind now he will be happy that he is going to the USA as an international criminal but his eyes will soon clear when serving his term in prison. |
Japhlet00:If I understand your concerns as the OP, your takeaway is health? The abuse of Ampiclox or any antibiotics will lead to its body resistance which is more deadly than UTI you are trying to prevent by taking it! You don't use one error to prevent another error. I don't know why we take health matters lightly. |
The only way left for her to remain relevant and get her bank account greased by local and foreign donors. |
Lying! Anybody who lies is a potential murderer and a thief! You know the Devil is the father of all lies and liars. Unfortunately, many don't see the danger of lying. |
