SO Im trying to understand how a simple question like what name do Muslims call out when they are in danger, turn to an argument like this. I was really expecting better responses. But seriously there is no need to hurl insults at each other. How about we engage in some intellectual, meaning and insightful discussion. Argue out your point without attacking the person or the religion. Each person has his or her own religion. Lets respect that. Fine, you can try and witness to someone but being rude to them abou their religion wont make them want to listen to you at all. no be so em do convert and this goes for both the Muslims and Christians. For the Christians, say what you have to say in a polite but honest manner. No need for insults after all, no be your own power u dey use convert person. Na the Holy Spirit dey do the work. Plus what message are you passing across to others. Let your lives be an example. Even if insults are thrown at you, do not retaliate. "Don't repay evil for evil. Don't retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it." 1 Peter 3:9 Now that being said, I would really like to know what the answer to the question the poster asked. |
@Poster: you said you guys are Christians right? well a Christians, having pre-marital sex is a sin. Just like abortion is. Now im assuming you guys repented? well Im assuming assuming your babe also repented. Now if God can forgive you guys for having premarital sex, and can also forgive your babe for committing abortion, then I dont see why you cant accept it. The only thing I think you need to forgive here is her not telling you earlier on when you guys had your "tell me abou your past" convo. Aside from that, everyone has a past. and like someone already said, all sin is equal before God. It is us human beings that weigh them. In Gods eyes, if you lie and I kill person, all na sin. As long as you have gone against Gods word, na sin. The bible says, all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. we were even born sinners sef but na Gods redemption plan save us. My point is, we are sinners and we dey sin everyday sef but "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleans us from all unrighteousness" and the thing w God is, He erases our sins forever once we repent. They are wiped out clear. Now, as per your fear of her getting pregnant, na God dey give children. Someone rightly mentioned earlier that there are some pple who have never had sex or abortions abs yet cannot have children. "Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him." Ps 127:3 (NLT). You have nothing to be afraid of as long as God is endorsing your marriage. It seems you guys pray a lot esp about your future like you said, so why not pray about it? No need to let your babe go thru all this pain again. Shes already experienced it. "Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past" Isaiah 43:18. "as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." Ps 103:12 I really like what Papido said. Papido:Na real talk. Being a Christian, take it to the Lord in prayer and pour out your heart to Him. If na abou children, forget da one. Leave it to God. you suppose get faith o. Where your faith sef. You should never doubt the power of God. With Him, all things are possible. We no fit understand these things w ordinary mind. |
the picture looks photoshopped.
Right? I agree w you. |
because most members of the nigeria army support my plan to save life. look they are the one who are going to victim of this. and they will kill him if he does not play along, they dont give a poo. because he is risking the life of 150 million in a civil war. You see over 70% of nigeria are lock out in this show. and many of them are upset. the 3 major tribe are yorubas, igbo, hausa/fulani, which are over 70% of the nigeria population. and they are all piss off at this moment. and when a president have the confident of less than 30% of his nation. he lost out. that why I can tell you some people ran for election that knows me. so that it will be easy to pull this said area out of nigeria. to show you. every state governor in edo, delta and yorubaland will agree. I know so. You can see what they are doing to the governor of ogun state, a supporter of Jonathan. he ran away. most of the supporter of jonathan already ran away. because people are mad at the moment in Nigeria. and other governor too. It boils down to either his selfishness or the life of millions of nigerian. It is a hard decision, but he has to make it, to remove edo, delta and yorubas , if not the north will never agree to the satellite picture. you can see them bomb people. I can tell you. like BBC said. those bomb came from members of the nigeria army, I am 100% sure. that why the Yoruba members of the nigeria military also are reading this , they also took this picture to show solidarity to my causes to save the lifes of 150 millions. it is tearing the army apart. 99% of the Yoruba people in the army seen the satellite pictures, will never support Jonathan Goodluck one Nigeria. Igbo in the army 99% will not support jonathan One nigeria because of the satellite picture. 99% of the hausa/fulani. will never support one nigeria. This satellite pictures are tearing our lifes as a people. I am telling you, the Yoruba in the nigeria military took this pictures to prove a point that the USA went to space. May be Obama can take Jonathan to the space centre and see for himself. You see in nigeria, they do not believe people can go to space. they think is Hollywood film. this is why we have problem. the nigeria army are going to be victim of a civil war. do you know anyone who want to die for Jonathan or one nigeria. Nobody. if he does not remove edo, delta and yoruba, the military has no choice than take over from him. Because he will be failing to protect the life of civilian 150 million. it is a hard decision to take.
LNGKPDO!!! HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHA. This is just HILARIOUS.but really musiwa, are you fo real?? ![]() |
anyone ever flown Turkish Airlines? |
while we're discussing adverts, i remember this "papa mama school no dey" song. one of the verses has some reference to the mirinda men. does any of u guys remember the whole thing. i will greatly appreciate it. Thanks |
Tolulop001:*singing* you dont know what you're missing, but really why dont you like garri? |
Lastpage, LMAO!!!!! hahahahahahahahahah ice cubes instead of water? ahahahaha Im not sure I want to imagine how that turned out. with honey still? ok there is thing called "shitto". Its some Ghanaian pepper/fish almost dry sauce thing sha. A friend of mine tried it this morning but I dunno how it went though. (I think you eat it on the side like beans LOL) BTW, I had garri at 3.30am this morning. About to have it again. and maybe around 2am again. lol |
@Natasha, there is nothing wrong with the suit o. (but there is a big problem with the dress patience is wearing) Right so back to the issue, Im not hating on the suit but on the fact that he chose to wear it for this kind of occasion. I guess Im a sucker for repping your culture all the way. P.S: I dont wear native all the time. Maybe if I was in NG, I would. But then I always rep whenever I can - church, class, other social events etc. (even formal dinners-I still rep my trad) |
@tpia, Rhea ans ThiefOfHearts, you guys made sense gan!!! They should have dressed in trad done some correct traditional dance. Its not everything we need to copy from the oyinbo people. (fela talk am: Colonial Mentality) @assetrip: why is it that on the day that we are celebrating democracy day, he decides to wear a suit? why didnt he also wear a suit during the inauguration ceremony? but really look at his wife now, pple suppose know wetin fit their body. I can bet you she would been on point if she wore some traditional outfit. If they want to realize their dream of doing something like this, then they can go on another honeymoon n do their ballroom dancing there. *hater mode activated* ![]() |
@Atreids, there is a lot wrong w society from the dating issue to what it means to love someone. Seems like someone tossed out the tolerance part and included, freedom to ditch whenever. No patience, no sacrifice, no nothing yet they say " I love you" The word itself has been abused so I doubt people even know what they are doing anymore if they dont understand the basics, Love. It is this tolerance, patience, selflessness etc, that are really tested when the strong winds start to blow. But how many people believe in selflessness or tolerance? Any slight hint of discomfort, then its over. Too much freedom and everybody is to blame because we are either looking (and minding our own business) or we are taking part in it too. Oju kokoro ni o n se awon eniyan. (People are greedy?) |
@geosegun, I was only trying to prove to omo_to_dun that even without the Bible, my argument can still stand (cos not everyone believes in the Bible like me) So I looked at it again from a cultural perspective. Its not always the best to use the Bible as a basis for an argument cause I have to first assume everyone believes it. This is certainly not the case here. (learnt this in Philosophy-except I learned wrong) but on another note, thanks! 'ppreciate what you said and not to worry, no one can take the truth away from me. Its like following Christ, no turning back! Ive seen too many broken homes and this same issue that we are talking about play out. Now it would be very foolish of me not to learn and also go by what I grew up knowing and believing to be true. |
I knew when I started typing that I was treading dangerously trying to argue from a biblical perspective. BUT this is not entirely biblical, it is also cultural. It is what I have seen and learned in the Yoruba culture. My point is this, men and women have different roles. They cant both perform the same function otherwise, there wont be a difference between them biologically and psychologically. Oh and pls do not forget that I said that its not just the fault of the women. The men are also to blame. Both sides need to learn their roles and act them out accordingly. Men need to learn what it means and takes to be a MAN. Women, pls learn your roles as women and stick to them. There are obviously men who do too much and obviously dont know what it means to be a real man/human being. Like I said in my last post, At the same time, men also need to know what a helper is. Helper does not equal slave or animal.. So even without the bible, I think my arguments can still stand. |
Toaskarity:hahahha or maybe tuface?
I was going to give you my address make we start am today, but then I saw this. Rubbish
HAHAHAHA, He's all yours o! im not trying to start just yet. Dont be angry with him, he's just happy. @SEFAGO: haba! Isnt 6 enough for you? you want to now go to 13 ? HABA! your own is just to produce them abi? what about taking care of them? Abeg I no dey o. lol |
mithel:Right. which is why I said in my reply to Ogugua88 that we need prayer + action. But we need to prayer for wisdom to do the right things. Its like me praying to pass my exams while I sit and watch TV. Im going to fail beyond anything. But then I can pray for a retentive memory etc and the ability to study well so that I can pass. |
On a serious note, by fire by force, I'm having 6
I know right?! Im def trynna have my 7 whether or not they impose a 3-child ban! lol |
ogugua88:Definitely we need to do more than prayer. Im not saying that we should sit back, fold our arms and say that we are praying. Definitely not. BUT I do think it is important that those who are religious pray. The guy needs wisdom like you said. He needs to make wise decisions but then prayers can go a long way in helping him make wise decisions. You said people can get motivation and inspiration from whatever or whomever they worship but then it is this same motivation and inspiration that is behind the actions now isnt it? People pray for wisdom and guidance when they go about their daily lives and well it works (at least for me). I do understand however that not everyone is religious and not everyone believes in prayer but for those who do, I still think it is important to pray. Although, praying does not mean that we will see immediate change tomorrow or that Nigeria will become our dream country by the end of the year. Its a process that requires determination and detailed planning (prayer + action) |
By OBIDIKE OKAFORhttp://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/ArtsandCulture/Art/5705501-146/little_angels_of_the_brush_.csp I think this is really cool especially at this age. More children need to be exposed to such resources so as to develop their talents. Imagine if more children had avenues through which they could discover and build their talents, they will indeed be leaders of tomorrow! Plus parents should make sure their kids have an all-round education and not only make sure they excel in math and english. |
I have to definitely agree with you when you say that it should be somewhat easier to maintain a marriage these days especially since more men are becoming more willing to do some of the things that women would normally do. (not completely take over but at least give a helping hand when needed you know?) Thats somewhat ironic sha. I wonder what education is really doing to us. Everybody starts to fight for right and equality. smh. and one thing about submission, it does not meant, stupidity. This is something I got from "Every Day with Jesus": "The effect of submission to God is not that the personality collapses or that we become less of a person. The surrendered self, is a person with a decided purpose, to follow the Person, Jesus Christ more fully." This can also be applied to a marriage. God knew what he was doing when he created Eve to be Adam's helper. At the same time, men also need to know what a helper is. Helper does not equal slave or animal. KK Im out now. I could go on and on about this but I think I should stop here. lol. |
BTW, @lastpage: garri w honey? hmmm havent tried that before. not sure how that tastes o. but me I drink my the normal way with sugar and sometimes milk. (and gnuts when available) but me sef Im about to indulge in my daily dose of garri but with turkey this time. |
ezeagu:The restaurants are ridiculously expensive and so are the stores! Its expensive to eat Nigerian food at least where Im at in the midwest. But @topic: Im thinking of teaching a couple of Nigerian dances to one of the dance groups we have on my campus and Im defo checking out these videos!!! @Ileke-Idi, Graçias! O se gidi gan ni! |
@ lastpage: Thank you ![]() I have to say I did crack up a lot when I read your "silly questions" LOL that got me really LOL-ing. But Ive been on NL for like a year now but hardly make comments. Just read stuff and laugh so I guess Im not very active and YES, I am proudly EGBA!!!! lol but really, this topic breaks my heart. Its really sad and almost annoying to see whats happening to our women. It pains me to see how Nigerian women are being talked about today. very sad. Once again, I have to say this, A wise woman builds her home and a foolish one destroys it. HOWEVER, the men sef get their own comma o and they could also do a lot more. Ko easy lati je omokunrin/obinrin afi k'Oluwa ko wa yo. |
Ok so fine, maybe we dont support GEJ being in power (I personally would have wanted Buhari) but the truth of the matter is that he is there. There is nothing we can do about it. He is the president, lets deal with it. I believe we are seeking the good of the nation as a whole and not jus talkin based on personal hate/dislike for a person or party. Now if we are really looking out for the best interest of this nation, then I dont see why praying for the guy is too much to do. He might not be the person we wanted but we should still pray that God gives him the wisdom to lead this nation aright. Here is what 1Timothy2:1-2 says, " I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." If the nation as a whole prospers, then we ourselves as individuals and citizens of the country will prosper. I have to admit that I do my own fair share of blaming and criticizing the guy so my message is also for me. |
So that means I cannot have my 7 children? |
And now with the new age of feminism, women have realized that they could be much more than being just a housewife, much more than being just a helper, and much more than being just a spectator; unlike before, they can now be their own bosses and they do not have to subscribe to the norms of society. They want to be accorded the kind of latitude men have historically received by virtue of their gender. It is not easy being a subordinate in a relationship, especially when someone tells you that you were created to be a helper, instead of an equal partner. Women are simply choosing the option they never had, a better one.Dont you think it is this lie (I dont want to call it a realization) that is one of the problems we have? How about, women did not understand and appreciate themselves/their worth and therefore were seeking things that they thought will put them in the spotlight. What is the reason behind them wanting to be their own bosses? Is it not so that people will look at them and be like "wow"? Is it really satisfying or self-fulfilling? I dont think so. Im not that old o but when I hear people (both men and women) talking about a REAL woman, its not the she's her own boss, or she hold things down, or she can take care of herself statement that I hear. Its always about a woman who takes care of her home [husband and children +servants (if applicable)], one who is able to support her man (Behind every successful man, is a woman). It is not necessarily to shout from the rooftop so that people can see us and what we are doing. It reflects in the state of the home and marriage. This is not saying that women should not work etc. but then they should have the mentality of working to be better than the man or to show that what a man can do, a woman can do (even better). That is just a recipe for disaster. |
so many reasons first of all, most people do not even understand what marriage is all about. Marriage is not a bed of roses and its not always going to be sweet. Jus like life, its not always rosy. there are the good and the bad times and the bad times actually test the strength of a marriage. However, today, it is when there is a slight problem that everybody dey run for divorce. Secondly, our values, morals and goals have all disappeared. Too much westernization? Maybe. But the point is we no longer have any values or morals. Everything goes. AH! Too much freedom!!! Right to this, right to that. (directed especially at women). I think women need to really understand the roles that they play in a relationship/marriage. The man is the head and there is no two way about it. Let him play his role as head and stop trying to "help" him out. Proverbs 14:1 says, "The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down." There is so much deceit out there. Many women are trying to become Miss Independent and of course the western media is only encouraging this. Do not be deceived o! We were not created to be Miss Independent!! It only leads to a lonely, sad and unfulfilled life! But then the men, why are you slacking? The men are giving the women the lee-way to get away with all this nonsense. When the men fail to play their role, of course the women will step up now because something has to be done. If the men wont do it, someone has to do it - the women. Men are becoming women, women are becoming men. Very annoying. Men need to learn what it means and takes to be a MAN. Women, pls learn your roles as women and stick to them. BTW, there is more to a strong marriage than the above mentioned. However, the above are very important factors that are lacking today. |
LOL he is only trying to market his business. @topic: Its a good thing that the govt is warning people about the imminent flood but do they have any solutions to the problem? How do they plan on creating a long lasting solution? If these pple evacuate, where will they move to? Its not enough to tell pple to move. to where? |
The Witches and Wizards Association of Nigeria (WITZAN), has deployed 500 witches to Abuja and other parts of Ahead of Nigeria to prevent any tragic occurrence and ensure peaceful inauguration on May 29. According to its national co-ordinator, Dr Okhue Iboi, the decision was taken after an emergency meeting at Zuma rock, Niger State. WITZAN also warned President Goodluck Jonathan to take adequate security as bad people and disgruntled politicians are planning to cause problems. Iboi, however, disclosed that the nation would soon have a respite from the people currently throwing bombs all over the places as they would be exposed: “We are going to expose those sponsoring bomb blasts in the country after May 29. They have been caged already. We are going to use our power to cause them to come out and confess their misdeeds. Nigerians would be surprised at how the saboteurs would be exposed.” He said it was revealed to the witches as far back as last year that no other candidate except Jonathan would rule the nation. The association which also predicted the failure of both former military president Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida and vice president Atiku Abubakar in their presidential quests also disclosed that Jonathan would serve his four-year tenure at the end of which Nigerians would be begging him to go for another term because he has been chosen by God to lead the nation. Iboi, however, warned Jonathan to beware of sycophants, while warning the incoming ministers and advisers to co-operate with the president and discharge their duties with dedication. The witches warned former Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to stop wasting his time pursuing the presidency: “Buhari should stop wasting his time because his time is past. He can never rule the nation again. His time is gone.” The incoming National Assembly will deliver. This is the time Nigerians will know that they have real legislators. “Some people look at us as if we are evil minded people. Not all witches are bad. Our own type of witchcraft is progressive. We are willing to intervene in the affairs of the country anytime the government decides to seek our counsel. We have the solutions to bring lasting peace to the country. Witches and wizards in the country are ready to help restore Nigeria’s lost glory. “We saw June 12 crisis long before it happened and we warned the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola but he ignored us. Abiola would have been Nigeria’s president but some of us decided to punish him over the role he played in scuttling the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo presidential ambition. We warned him not to waste his time and life. This was reported in some national dailies. We also dealt with the late General Sani Abacha for the execution of the late Ken Saro-Wiwa.” http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/News/5705947-146/witches_deploy_500_members_to_abuja.csp So we have a witches and wizards association in Nigeria |
