I had to double check using Google search to clear my doubts and I am beginning to wonder why would a lawyer of such repute, a senior advocate of Nigeria make such grammatical blunder There is a difference between competence and performance.(langue and parole) Even when we are competent in the use of English we can still make mistakes when speaking it. We are all second language usesr of English who can make mistakes at any time! |

Education › Re: Paying ASUU 6 Months Arears Will Promote More Strike - Oblivion by ejimatic: 6:34am On Sep 02, 2022 |
Oblivion34: ASUU declared a strike in February 2022.
Every meeting with the Union has always ended in deadlock.
The union, however, stood its ground and claims not to shift grounds until all of its demands are met.
Meanwhile, the union president kept referring to how the government has seized their salaries to influence their decisions and stance.
This is the month of September 2022 and the government has met more than 60% of the union demands.
All the striking unions already called off strike the past month after a brief meeting with the government.
ASUU has refused to call off the strike because the Federal government is not willing to pay them their 6 months salary arrears.
They've however been very tactical with the strike time frame. At first, they declared one month strike, then kept increasing the time frame while making it look as if they were willing to call off the strike in good faith.
They declared an indefinite strike after the government had met 60% of their frivolous demands.
Before the federal government thinks about paying the union their 6 months arrears, think about the effect it will have.
ASUU is known for declaring strikes every year because they often get paid before they resume back to class.
Where is it done that a union will declare 6 months strike, and still be expecting a salary for work not done?
There is without a doubt that the union has lost the sympathy of 80% of most Nigerians, and the only thing stopping students from declaring them public enemy No.1 in the educational sector is because of "fear"
If the federal government decides to pay them today, nothing will stop them from declaring a 3-5 years strike tomorrow!!!
ASUU is failing to realize that nobody is happy with the present-day government.
Declaring over 3 months of strike while expecting pay for work not done is selfish, and unjustifiable.
In a sane world, a union is expected to press its demands for a maximum of 3 months before resuming back to classes.
Before declaring an indefinite strike; the union claim they are not going to make up for the lost months if the government fails to pay them
No matter what happens, students will always be at the receiving end.
During our time, lecturers were so inconsiderate after calling off 4 months ASUU strike. They started exams immediately as if we were the cause of the strike/fight.
The bolded part has always been the tradition of ASUU. They don't make up for all the lost months.
"ASUU claims the strike is a sacrifice for the generation to come." They should also be willing to sacrifice their one-year salary for the generation to come.
Paying ASUU will mean more subscriptions to more strikes in the nearest future.
Not paying them their 6 months strike will make them more reasonable before declaring another strike in the nearest future, (II) It will enable them to give more listening hears to what the government has to offer quicker, rather than standing on what they want!
I am #Oblivion . I am only concerned about students at home.As for ASU if they want to resign let them do so. ASU shiukd learn how to shift ground. After all they are fighting for their pockets not in the interest of Nigeria. FG shiukd put an end to their excesses No union is sacred in Nigeria. |

Chrismania100: I pity you for supporting an old, aged and sick candidate. You are an enemy of Nigeria.
WAILERS vs APC URCHINS
Wailers: He has no certificate. APC Urchins: It doesn't matter. His rank as a major general after undergoing various military trainings abroad is more than a professorship.
Wailers: He is too old and looks frail. APC Urchins: It doesn't matter. What we need is his competency and readiness to fight corruption.
Wailers: Why is it taking him months to appoint ministers? APC Urchins: It doesn't matter. He should be allowed to pick the best of the best that will take us out of PDP 16 years of mess.
Wailers: His political appointment is lopsided. APC Urchins: It doesn't matter. Allow him to gather people of like minds, irrespective of their religion and tribe, who will CHANGE Nigeria.
Result: Today, you have a Nigeria that doesn’t matter, and citizens that do not matter and you’re complaining. Yet you’re on the verge of electing another “It doesn’t matter” even worse than your last civic negligence has produced.
Way Forward: Choose your leader with sense not emotions. It will matter. It’s just a matter of time for it to eventually matter. Just be Obidient!

stevnwigw1: LECTURERS WILL NEVER TELL YOU THIS IN THE UNIVERSITY
If you are invited for a job interview, at the entrance of the gate or within the Organization's premises:
1. Politely greet everybody. I have seen MDs and Managers disguised and standing at the gate to observe interviewees.
2. Do not go inside and start charging your phone or begin to look for where to charge your phone.
3. Do not go inside and begin to chat with your phone or make unnecessary calls. Put the phone inside your bag. They could be monitoring you through the camera.
4. Avoid too much talk with fellow interviewees. Don't go there and begin to argue about the government of the day, escalated food prices, and even lack of employment opportunities. Just be calm and positive.
5. Don't start praying and speaking in tongues to demonstrate your religiosity and closeness to God. Pray at home before going.
6. If they offer you Tea or food, Please reject it politely and thank them. You can take it after the interview. If you take that Tea or food, you are out.
7. Don't chew gum, biscuit, or anything. Go with a book and be reading it.
8. Never criticize your previous employer.
9. If you see somebody you know in the Organization, either as a staff or a fellow interviewee, greet him officially. Avoid creating an impression that you know him.
10. Do not appear too Poor, helpless, and inferior before the interviewer. Forget about Nigeria's problems, your personal and family problems. Focus on the job.
11. After the interview, put up a smiling face, thank them and leave.
In most cases, interviewers assess and score interviewees by the factors above and not necessarily by the answers they provide on paper. They'll train you eventually to do the job if they employ you. . It is a pity that people with connection get jobs as they like not minding all above criteria. May God connect us to the right person |

Oh...why are Nigerians in Europe and America doing well in that same medical Fields but the ones at home aren't? Can a lecturer that hasn't been paid for months decide to go around looking for Covid-19 vaccine? The ones doing it are the ones that their governments spend billions to help them in researches! . I totally agree with you. Alot of things are abberant in our educational system. Fir example ASU is requesting more fund in the universities from the government. How did they spend the previous funds from the government? They also requested salary increase. The government agreed some adjustments which will go across all institutions including polytechnics but they should wait till that is captured in 2023 budget. ASU disagreed. They said UTAS must be used for their payment. Is that logical? You are dictating for your employer. Consequent on that they embarked on strike indefinitely. They said before they resume all their outstanding salaries must be paid .Is that the way to go about it! Even when thery are in session what have they achieved for Nigeria! Some even collect money for researches only to do a wishy washy research and spend the money on cars and housing. Is it not good to resume work and continue negotiation on yiur outstanding salaries which government will pay you? They think they are the wisest in Nigeria.I pity our students at home but as for ASU whoever wants to resign shiukd do so. No union is sacred in Nigeria! |

iwaeda: Chelsea head into their Premier League fixture with Southampton on Tuesday evening looking to make further progress up the standings.
At a time when Chelsea sit in sixth position on the back of the weekend's win over Leicester City, 14th-placed Southampton can move ahead of their next opponents with success at St Mary's.
Having been forced to sit in the stands due to his one-game touchline ban, Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel was provided with a different perspective when it came to assessing his players at the weekend.
The needless dismissal of Conor Gallagher would have infuriated him, but the response with 10 men would have provided reassurance about the character of a squad in transition.
More fresh faces will be coming through the door at Chelsea over the coming days, most likely starting with Wesley Fofana from Leicester now that a fee has allegedly been verbally agreed.
However, Tuchel was desperate to see improvements from his current crop, with Raheem Sterling delivering his first two goals in a Chelsea shirt and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy making up for his error against Leeds United in the previous game.
In the short term, Chelsea need to ensure that a five-point gap to leaders Arsenal does not get any wider, although Tuchel will want his players to focus on one match at a time as they bid to cut out errors and be more clinical in the final third. . Chelsea ti lule again! Congratulations to Aresenal ,the current champions in this unbeaten season! |
