RedboneSmith:
Adding 'r' or 'h' at the end of words like Udo and Uzo has nothing to do with dialect.
Well, with my dialect it does kind of because of the emphasis at the end.
However, I understand the overall goal of doing that. Because, letters like ó with the dot under and the likes do not feature on English keyboards, and spelling it with the ordinary o gives a different pronunciation and may be meaning, given that the language is tonal.
It doesn't happen in Igbo language alone, it happens even with other European languages. For instance, in German, the umlaut, "ü" and 'ö' are changed to, 'ue' and 'oe' respectively. Müller now becomes, Mueller, Bayern München becomes, Bayern Muenchen, straße, becomes strasse, etc

However, the guy I quoted was also saying another different unconnected justification to make his point.

AdeizaPaul:
Why are most Igbos Anglicizing the spelling of traditional words?

I mean for example a word like Iwa- they spell as Iwah
Ude is now Udeh

Udo (falling tone) is now Udor

Many words now end in: eh, uh, or, eh, ah.
Quite unlike before.

I have even seen many now spelling the old form Okpara as 'Okparah'
Dialect! Have you come across the phenomenon before?

So last last, the election go hold?

Python is a deadly reptile. grin
We know it is election periods that you get most of your cash. Same with abagworo, omenka and Tonyebarcanista, whichever party you choose, there is one thing you all have in common, Jubilations over elections and acting the zombie for your masters. No prestige, no self worth, no conscience, nothing, its all about, "How much will I make". You sure well do know that the prospects of this not happening will only result to disaster because this is the only job you have, your only hope.

Whichever way, IPOB never said the government will not hold election, they simply stated that, every well meaning son of Anambara will not come out to cast votes as a means to make a statement. I hope you and your fellow slaving bag carriers understand this?

Statistics shows that Anambra is home to the largest number of gays in nigeria,
80% of Anambra guys are homosexuals,
they have turned unizik into sodom and gomorra,
they even have a ghetto in Anambra where their guys sell their ass for money,
Buhari should do something about it

"Statistics" showed "80%"? which school did you attend? Who taught you statistics? What method did you employ in carrying out the research? What instruments did you use? Nigerians, always quick to showcase their poor 'quarter-baked' education.
EducationRe: Can I Still Graduate With a First Class? by Ekealterego: 5:40pm On Oct 07, 2017
If you use the cumulative Grade Point average. Then you will have to calculate the total number of units left for all the 3 semesters. Assume a target GPA on the average and do a cumulative.
Or just do your simple maths. You are bright enough. Do the maths, its called a weighted average.
EducationRe: 13 Grammatical Mistakes That Instantly Reveal People's Ignorance by Ekealterego: 5:38pm On Oct 07, 2017
IamZod:
So If I say "Who am I speaking with?
And Whom am I speaking with?

Which of the two are grammatically correct?
"Whom" is grammatically correct. However, in today's informal English, "who am I speaking with"
Is generally acceptable. But "whom" in this case is technically and grammatically correct.
The grammatical logic is this, assuming that the object of the sentence is a male, "Whom" works with "him" and "who" works with "he".

Example:
Who deserves the credit?
He deserves the credit.

WHOM should I give the credit go to?
You should give the credit to HIM.

But:

Who is the greatest man alive?
HE is the greatest man alive.

WHOM should we make the greatest man alive?
We should make HIM the greatest man alive

A little more expatiation on the use of "who" and "whom" will be appreciated. Thanks.
To save me time, I culled this directly from a site.

'Who' is a subject pronoun like 'he', 'she' and 'they'. We use 'who' to ask which person did an action or which person is in a certain state.
Who wrote that letter?
Who is the manager?
Who is going to prepare dinner?

'Whom' is an object pronoun like 'him', 'her' and 'us'. We use ‘whom’ to ask which person received an action.
Whom are you going to ask to the party?
Whom did they choose as team captain?
Whom did they summon?

'Whose' is a possessive pronoun like 'his', and 'our'. We use 'whose' to find out which person something belongs to.
Whose phone is this?
Whose is this umbrella?
Whose car is blocking the drive?

Good afternoon everyone here. I have been an ardent of this forum so, I felt it wouldn't be bad to bare my heart here as I know I'd surely get an advice that will make me see clearer. Please bear with me as I am not very perfect when it comes to expressing my self in writing. Pls pardon my write-up should you see it as too long. I just want to bare it all so one can know what to tell me. Thanks.
My Name is Amanda. I lost my parents when I was sixteen . I am from a family of five. I was about to sit for WAEC before the sudden demise of my parents. I had to drop out of school cus I couldn't pay bills and my older siblings were still struggling, so I got a job. I worked as a cleaner say for 2 years and I was able to save up something and enrolled for WAEC AND GCE and I passed. I tried my first admission it didn't so the second year someone told me to try a Polytechnic and fortunately I got admitted. I joined school but I kept working and I saved up some bucks and at the end of my ND at federal poly Auchi my G. P was 3.40 yes! I cried for joy.
I. T (Industrial Training) started and I felt it would make more sense If I could start something little within my environment. Since I knew a lot about female bags and wears I held on to the idea and started. My customer base grew as I went from department to department showing and convincing the "big girls" in school about my goods. I approached just anybody so long you female. I kept moving at that pace until I was heavily sought after. My room became my boutique.
Why I am confused now
All glory to God I have been able to establish a good relationship with people who sale to me on credit which allows me own varieties and sell more.
1. Not to exaggerate, I make a minimum of 40 to 45k a month as my own.
2. I ain't rich but I think I am comfortable for a young lady of my age. I will be 24 3rd October.
I focused more on my business and I didn't join my mates for the HND session. My reason was; after school now, I go carry certificate they Waka up and down. Make I kuku use this small money wey I don save use am run my business first as I thought school can wait. could I be wrong?

# I have a course mate who traveled overseas after our ND and she has been encouraging me to come over since I could afford the travel expenses (not to lie, I was considering this also which made me forget going back for my HND.)
Now my question is if you were me would you go back to school? I am of the opinion that schooling in Nigeria without a good back up could leave me frustrated after graduation. No job.
# if you were me would you just continue with your business and open up a shop or would you travel out, get a job and go to school there?
Pls advice Me as I would be turning 24 in no time and I am JUST CONFUSED embarassed I have the feeling that any decision I make at this point would either make or destroy me permanently. Pls help a sister embarassed
Should I go back to school? cus my dad always wanted me to get an education but I feel I should be able to know what works as times have changed.
Pls I am open to any form of advice. God bless.

nextprince:
If you want to know how possible this is, do you know the number of cows leaving one market in Katsina every day?

I know of one market, Charanchi in Katsina state, not less than 10k cows leave that market every week, and that is only one market. There are others, mai adu'a, batsari, sheme, jibia among several others.

Let me tell you, Kebbi state can sustain that export and to me, that is even on the low side.
Brother, EXCEPT that market is the major depot where livestock are distributed to the whole Nigeria, that figure is not feasible. From your estimation, the inventory of cattle from that market will be around 52k every year. Note however, that Egypt is has the highest inventory in Africa with a figure on the North side of 3 million. Libya, Angola ranks next, way higher than Nigeria's. So, 520k cows from one outlet is not a feasible figure.

Listen stupid punk. Your shoemakers are the ones begging for attention, Sotay your governor feels he has to go as far as cajoling our OBJ to help sell your substandard pseudo-brand ('Aba-made') that has become renowned and synonymous with everything substandard/fake. OBJ was merely playing his part in trying to rebrand/repackage a damaged pseudo-brand.

Our own entrepreneurs are actually doing quite well. They have healthy brands that don't carry the 'Aba-made' baggage. These entrepreneurs are more sophisticated and 'I.T compliant' -- they don't just have physical retail stores and world-class packaging, but also have online presence -- they have active, attractive and well maintained websites and social media presence that will make anyone want to identify with their brand.

Now, that's a level your Aba shoemakers are yet to attain. The other day they were fretting coz Ikpeazu was trying to bring in Chinese investors into the Aba Shomaking space, obviously coz they can't compete and know for a fact that they'll lose whatever else is left of their current market share.

Several posts have been made concerning the landholdings of estate developers in Lagos, which shows the Yorubas are largest property owners in Lagos. Yet, you pretend not to see it. sad

Several posts have also been made about Yoruba businessmen and industrialists who are engaged in business activities worth billions, spanning industries from construction, to logistics, aluminium cans manufacturing, oil and gas, telecoms and even haulage. Yet, you still claim that they are nothing more than 'tissue paper owners and plastic chair manufacturers,' even though it was your brothers that first started posting pictures of Igbo businessmen engaged in such activities. It is okay. undecided

Mouth does not win a competition or war but plan, strategy, action and facing the realties do.Anybody who wants to know who produces or owns companies more than the other between Yorubas and Igbos should just read from page one slowly and would be amazed and know why Yoruba or SW is the 3rd economy in Africa...such big biznesses some I know and beleive were owned by Oyinbos. This thread is really an eye opener especially for me but I hope the Igbos are not keeping back some companies which might overturn this landslide victory for the Yorubas. All said I think the govt should help Innoson because he has a very big dream and I think the sky is the limit if he can get it right.I really enjoyed this thread.Yorubas have really locked down the Nigerian economy..WOW!.
Yoruba 3rd largest economy in Africa? Lol. Why are you fooling yourself.. what indices did you use to come to this conclusion.
Reality check my friend, 95% of Nigeria's total earnings comes from crude oil. Then, if you remove Lagos (which is not an exclusive Yoruba state (Igbos own most of the choice properties there by the way), South west won't be different from the North East.
Apart from that, on a per capita basis, it is clear that Yorubas are not richer, so what are we saying?
I agree that you might have more old money than the Igbos but when it comes to new money, forget it, you don't stand a chance.
