Hmm Sweetlemon is an accurate nickname, judging by that picture |
good for the Nigerian consumer bad for certain retailers (more competition. in fact, one of the strongest competitors in the world.) |
To just design the graph should be pretty easy. E.g.: www.nairaland.com/userid/4 is a page for user #4 in your database's friend list. Say a tab, space separated text file or something, with the data pulled from the DB. In fact you basically nearly have this already. Just not in a format useful for manipulation. |
jacobs123: Lagos employs doctors and they pay them 7 pounds per hour equivalent (same as what some cleaners earn in UK) and people think the LASG has got a good deal for itself. So the only way we will know for sure is if we: a) know what the total compensation of the union doctors is b) know the relative quality of these union doctors versus these non-union ones. Btw, there is no connection between the salary of a cleaner in the UK and a doctor in Nigeria. One is a wealthy first world country with low unemployment, the latter is an impoverished third world country with high unemployment. |
Meh. Religious is largely a personal thing. For my great-great-grandfather and most of the people in our town and state, Christianity was a more attractive option than our previous religions. Live and let live. Nobody owes anyone else an explanation for their religious decisions. |
“Why has he resorted to the use of incompetent ‘referral doctors’ who are being enticed with a wage twice what they ought to have been paid if they are in regular employment? How did he come to the conclusion that these doctors are incompetent? Is he really claiming that the "regular employment" doctors would command half the salary? I highly doubt this is true. He is probably not factoring pensions, housing, cost of living allowances, etc.Can someone in the know tell me what the wage rate of the other LASG doctors are? These union guys? Just a ballpark figure will do. Raw cash, then we'll also need to total pension, accommodation, etc. Pretty sure it won't be difficult to quickly debunk this assertion that the union labor is 1/2 the price. That is never usually the case anywhere in the world...union labor is usually more expensive. |
N5000 every 4 hours is roughly $8.33 per hour? That seems like an excellent deal for labor. Unless the quality of the doctors is low, then why is anyone complaining? These guys don't get pensions, benefits, or leave either it seems...purely temporary workers. Probably a lot cheaper than the other doctors Lagos State has on staff. So what is the problem? Lagos has offered ~$8 hour, and has found ~400 doctors willing to accept this wage. So why is it anyone else's business, unless these doctors are incompetent? |
Northern Nigeria is not more populated than Southern Nigeria. I don't think anyone believes this to be true (anyone with sense, at least). |
That others consider my son a rogue doesn't mean that I will agree. In general, there are two sides to every story, at least two ways of interpreting every situation. Doesn't make sense to assume that IBB's kinsmen will share the same distaste for him as you do. He isn't even necessarily hated in the North, let alone in his own state, let alone what is probably the neighboring LGA. |
At times, I wonder if you all simply condemn a policy just because you don't like who is doing it. It is much better to examine/evaluate an idea on its own merits rather than coming to conclusions purely because of who came up with the idea. |
If the price of onions fell from N2000 to N600 and at the beginning of the year you calculated that you needed to sell @ N1500 just to break even...N1800 to make enough profit to pay your bills and send your kids to school.. That is the type of thing that will ruin a man financially. |
I don't see the problem with this. You don't want farmers to be ruined due to yearly variations. By soaking up some of this excess production, you have less bankrupt farmers. Though to be honest, not sure how far $600k will go. |
Da infamous: governors of Imo and Anambra states, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha and Mr Peter Obilol. or maybe I'm reading too much into the language used here. |
There are some other pretty big online forums that I visit. Based on phpbb3 and vbulletin. I would be nice if there was software that could automatically construct social network data like this. Recommend other posters on NL that you should follow, threads that you'd like, etc. Recommender system stuff I guess, essentially. |
Natural African Hair is the best of all |
Up D'Banj His haters can go f**k themselves |
Long in the past, perhaps. But you certainly don't see Hausa men marrying Arab women to a large degree in Nigeria. The very rich ones, perhaps, who can afford to import or find such a bride. But not your typical dude.. |
28. "But what ... is it good for?" -- Engineer at the Advanced Computing Systems Division of IBM, 1968, commenting on the microchip.Heh. Nice post. Yeah, in general...I am hesitant to say that anything is impossible. Human beings are pretty creative animals...you can never know what they'll come up with next. |
'Tis the way of the world. Btw, how many Arab women do you see marrying or dating Hausa? Or are you just indicating attraction relationships without it necessarily being reciprocal? |
hercules07: The guy thought because we yab ourselves, we will not close ranks when outsiders come to yab us, he has been appropriately schooled, o ga o, Somalian is yabbing Nigerians and other Africans, he should go and watch Black Hawk down.Lol |
E.g., pretend there are 6 people on NL, A, B, C, D, E, F. A is friends with B and C. B is friends with D. And some more friendships encoded by the following graph: https://i47.tinypic.com/kd78ux.png What would you do with this data? What cool things could you figure out, both with this data and a user's posting history and other information? So Facebook has a friend graph too, and they do stuff internally with it (e.g., people you might know, or should be friends with). But I am sure that there must be other interesting things you could figure out. |
Nice, interesting post. Another thing I wish Seun would do is to make his "friend" graph publicly available. There are some interesting things you can do, Facebook-style with it, I think...would be fun to play around with. Anyway, at topic...obviously Yoruba. In fact, your favorite Yoruba's favorite Yoruba ![]() |
Technically speaking, most Nigerians and West Africans are not even Bantu anyway. The Bantu migrations started from Cameroon.. However, the Bantu are a greater race/tribe/people than Somali. So better to be associated with a great people (Bantu) rather than mongrel dogs (Somali). |
If they were the largest ethnic group in Rivers, then not likely that since 1999 their governors would have been Igbo only. |
Ijaw may not even be the largest ethnic group in Rivers+Bayelsa, let alone Rivers. Igbos are the largest group in Rivers. |
doctests are kinda cool... |
Logic Mind: why?Eh.... i wish this mixed race couple a very happy and fruitful marriage full of love. How can you ask, "which one concern you", then immediately thereafter say something to which someone can equally say the same thing? Clearly your username in no way accurately describes you. Lol |
Why would Niger State indigenes in general or this particular LGA have a problem with him? Just because he was bad for most Nigerians doesn't mean that he was bad for say his home LGA or those near it.. |
I ended up doing this: bool1 = x >= start bool2 = (x -start) % 7==0 bool3 = (x-start-2) % 7==0 return bool1 and (bool2 or bool3) Makes me feel happier than what I had before. Unnecessary parentheses removed. Extra boolean introduced. Minor nitpick, but feels so much nicer, reads more clearly. |
Eh, that won't make the function look more attractive. Makes no difference whether one returns a list or a concatenated string. In fact, the latter is worse, and doesn't make a lot of sense, since you'll then need extract the list from the string |
Odd coincidence. So Buhari also was there for this wedding, I take it? Anyway, Jega helped rig an election in Nigeria. Or at a minimum, was silent and watched it be rigged. So of course he won't be popular in some parts of the country. |
I hope he made her sign a prenup |
