Obiagu1:And if any of the above causes you pain, discomfort or mental anguish, kindly take a trip to the aforementioned bridge. |
Igbo in yoruba means marijuana. . .so you can never tell if chuku has another meaning somewhere !
+1Exactly what I'm saying. Who the fvck are ya'll to tell someone else what slang he can and cannot invent for his language? Very presumptuous little twats. |
Nobody is under any obligation to use the same words that you do, or give the same meaning to them. That chukwu means god in Igbo doesn't mean it will mean the same thing when others say it. If you have a problem with this, go find a bridge to jump off of. |
Again, chukwu doesn't mean "god" in Yoruba. That the Igbo man calls his god chukwu is fine and dandy, but also irrelevant. Chukwu refers to igbo people in this context. So there is nothing blasphemous about saying ode chukwu, unless you are an Igbo speaker or something |
I really dislike unions. Bleh. Strike, strike, strike. . . |
MEND is under no obligation to ramp up their activities just because Boko Haram is. This is pretty silly reasoning, dude. |
I don't see the problem. They committed murder and robbery. Isn't the death penalty at least arguably appropriate for those crimes? Or is the problem that they were beheaded? Having your head chopped off if done quickly and neatly is not a very painful way to die. It is a nice clean death. |
russellino:If he is using "Oluwa" to reference God, then in the worst case he is bringing down a curse on himself, not me. So why would I care? If "oluwa" in his slang is a reference to Yoruba people because many Yoruba have the word "oluwa" in their names, then in that case it is a fairly innocuous jibe against Yoruba people. And in that case I also don't care. |
russellino:Chukwu refers to god in Igbo, but not in Yoruba. Olorun, Oluwa, etc are what you will call God in Yoruba. "Ode Chukwu" is a Yoruba slang/expression. So in that particular context, chukwu does not mean "god" (as it does in Igbo), but to an Igbo person. It is only nasty and ignorant if you (A) don't recognize that chukwu doesn't have any religious meaning in Yoruba (B) or do not recognize that it is purely a Yoruba slang. |
Eh. Ode Mallam would refer to a dumb northerner, since mallam references a northerner when southern folk say it. Despite Mallam probably not meaning "northerner" in Hausa. And Chukwu in this context refers to Igbo. So it is a bit silly to think it means "dumb god." Chukwu might mean God in Igbo, but when Yoruba say it references Igbo (just like mallam references hausa.) Yoruba name for god is not chukwu. |
Split LAUTECH in two or something. . . this is annoying |
Pifa doesn't post much, but when he does it is quality. Kudos, man |
Correct. I have 5+ NL identities, like you. I studied crop production at a 3rd rate university in Nigeria, like you. I got $2 million worth of scholarships to grad school, like you. I bragged about presenting at a poster session, like you. I bragged about a mass email that called me "professor", like you. I lie constantly about my background and education, even going back to edit old posts, like you. I spent 3+ years postdoccing after my PhD and remain w/o a tenure-track position, like you. I'm competing for jobs with kids a decade younger than me and failing, like you. I am a hydroponics expert, like you. In fact, I am a mediocrity and failure at life. Just like you are. |
adejoro75:Hehe. A fool like you thinking me and Sefago are the same person. You are a blundering oaf ![]() |
It isn't the government's fault, it is that of the parents, is it not? Anyway, going to real schools should be made mandatory, if it is not already. And if it is already the law, the law should be enforced. |
i dey laff o ![]() the hydroponic bigot and his ignoble past ![]() |
Professor of hydroponics again. Why did you decide to drop ZnO? ![]() I wonder if Andre Uweh copied his multiple IDs/personalities from you |
lmao |
@dem_people: I'm not a fan of this type of stuff, but I just felt the need to correct certain misconceptions. It makes no sense to mock someone else for reaching a height and then falling from it if you've never even sniffed the same before in your entire history. It is simply moronic. That is my basic point. |
As I said before, great oratory, lovely boasts about what would have happened if not this or that. But when the rubber meets the road, incompetence, failure and utter defeat. Anyway, perhaps one day we shall see. And regarding running? All I can do at that is laugh. If that day comes, it will be you fleeing into refugee camps, not I ![]() |
Onlytruth:The day you pick up a gun is the day I wlll pick up mine. Heh. As I said, I fear no man or ethnic group in West Africa. If it is time for tribal war, then so be it. |
I think Tinubu is a god? Wtf? Alright, time to take my own advice and ignore the troll. Anyway, hopefully this discussion can be moved back to Sanusi. |
Unfortunately, your "us vs. the world" theory isn't supported by facts (carefully read and digest this, for example: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/report/1984/SMR.htm). Anyway, you are entitled to believe whatever you like; it is a fine story to comfort yourself with. Just know that if that day comes and if you lose, those who you fight against will ensure that you will never have the ability to fight again. |
Mariory:Classic Kobojunkie dodge ![]() I wonder if she is an acrobat in RL God bless her heart, lmao |
Igbos are great at fighting wars in words or on paper. Definitely phenomenal oratory. "No force in black Africa. . ", I think what was Ojukwu said. Unfortunately, not so good when the rubber actually meets the road. I am not one to pray for war, but if that day comes, we shall see what is real and what is fake. |
I'm not even sure why some feel the need to personalize things. Just clear evidence that they have no clue what they are talking about and don't have any arguments to stand on. I'm supposed to be offended by Baby Katz #1? By the same guy referencing some article on NigerDeltaCongress.com or whatever as evidence of intellectual horsepower and evidence of his ability as an economist? Hehe. No wonder Nigeria is in the bad state it is. A thorough love and celebration of mediocrity. Sanusi mentioned in the same sentence as Paul Krugman? I dey laff o |
Is this evidence of human beings in Nigeria/Africa being worse or more primitive than those elsewhere, as Jakumo suggests? I've never seen or heard of this type of stuff happening elsewhere, but I'm not sure I agree. Hrm. . . |
Hehe. Let me not say anything I'll regret. At any rate, as I said before, it is probably best to ignore people who don't have anything useful to contribute to this thread. |
Over a necklace? Where in Nigeria was this? Pretty crazy. |
EzeUche:In the 6 day war (in 1967)? EzeUche:Such is life. You must play the hand you are dealt in life. |
Hehe. Indeed. Most of these Igbo folk who talk about Ilorin simply have no clue. @Onlytruth: The difference is, you aren't Jews, and we aren't Arabs. As I said, Jews in the same position in 1967 would have won. You on the other hand lost ![]() I fear no man and no peoples in West Africa (and most of the rest of Africa), let's put it that way. |
