I just went to this site, looks like it has been hacked. If any of you know the proper authorities to contact, please get in touch with them and get them to fix it. |
@Gbawe: Good points. I spoke in haste. |
hmm |
How? Requires a constitutional amendment, no? Anyway, if he governs well, let him run again for a second term. |
SW needs absolutely nothing from GEJ. Anyone who thinks otherwise can go fvck themselves. |
Nah I shouldn't mock them, I guess. But given the triumphalist posts/threads from a month ago (e.g., "Biggest Loser is the SW" , I cannot quite resist. |
Hehe. I guess we know what GEJ has been reading lately: https://c.chegg.com/covers2/22820000/22820603_1295663890.jpg |
ANyway with all of that said, Nigerians have a decent to good reputation in the US. Or at least some of the parts in it I've lived in. Maybe it is mostly the poor ruffian types who end up in South Africa |
@playmode: Yeah it cracked me up when he said "Nigerians are descendants of Jews" He confused himself, I guess ![]() |
Was it really mandatory for Nigerian civil servants to pay 10% of their salary towards erasing apartheid in SA ![]() Na wa o, some serious dishonesty here |
Man I remember when I met these two Tanzanian girls in February or so. One of them asked me which tribe I'm from in Nigeria. I didn't even know East Africans would be aware of the difference. . . it was a surprising question. Anyway, if I ever venture round those parts, I'll claim to be Togolese or from the Benin Republic, something like that. |
How are they even getting into SA? Is the border porous? Or is SA giving visas anyhow? If it were me, I'd tighten up my border and deport more liberally. |
OK, so it wasn't a 3 year old girl, it was a 3 year old boy. They kidnapped him and held him as slave to force his 22 year old mother into prostitution. She didn't want to take heroin, so they used the boy as a hostage instead. What type of bleeped up sh1t is that, man? |
Go to 9:02 of the Priscilla video. . . they were even keeping a 3 year old girl enslaved What is wrong with these demonic beasts? |
Man wtf do they keep saying "Nigerians" in this video. I don't want to be associated with any of this evil sh1t |
Enslaving a 14 year old girl into sex slavery ![]() These people are animals |
This Operation Priscilla sh1t. . . damn ![]() |
Interesting videos, playmode. No wonder some of these SA folk hate Nigerians. Not even the white ones, the black folk |
to be honest you are not making sense in this thread ![]() the railway project is not needed
Correct Instead, the money (from private investors?) should be spent on amala to be distributed to the masses |
I think that one of the implicit assumptions of democracy is that those who are being governed have common sense and wisdom. It is a good thing some of the posters here don't represent the thinking of your typical Lagosian. |
Just to alleviate some of the concerns raised: The contract is for 25 years or so, right? The cars probably don't have that long in them, probably 10-15 years or so. Use them for that period of time, then upgrade in 10-15 years. At that time, the Lagos Rail will be fully profitable and throwing off a lot of cash, so you'll be able to fund new railcars easily. Where is the harm in being cheap now while the project is still new? I mean, is riding in this really suffering: [flash=500,400] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VoGgi4nuv0[/flash] I don't see how that is a worse ride than what most in America or Canada commute in. |
Eko Ile:He is a very big f.o.o.l. But rather than keeping quiet, he is spreading his stupidity elsewhere. I'd just ignore him, but I wanted everyone to understand why he isn't making any sense. (As an aside, high-speed rail (like the type they do in Europe, China, and Japan) isn't really economical in most cases (see this article [http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/02/16/AR2011021605977.html] and google for the World Bank report it mentions.) Most of the time it has to be heavily subsidized. The "high-speed rail" we have in the Northeast corridor is actually pretty slow, averages like 80 miles per hour and uses ordinary tracks. The one in the NE corridor is profitable and economical, though.) |
Heh. Alright. I am a liar, then. Please kindly explain of what relevance high-speed rail (e.g., 150+ miles/hour) is to solving transportation issues within a single city. Kindly explain to us why it is at all relevant to the problems they want to solve. You fcking mor.on. |
2mch, you are an i.diot. Seriously. Of what relevance is HIGH-SPEED RAIL for a FVCKING city, you goddamn m.oron? High-speed rail is meant to cover very large distances, say between Lagos and Abuja. Not within one city! Even what we call "high-speed rail" here in the US is very different from the same terminology and technology in Europe, China and Japan. You are just reading stuff without thinking about: A) Where do I get the money B) Is this the right solution for the problem I have |
Gekko:I think it is mostly a terminology issue. They use the term "light rail" in that document once, when I guess it should instead be called just "rapid transit", I guess. Here is what seems to be the difference, from Wikipedia: Comparison to other rail transit modeshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_rail#Rapid_rail_transit Anyway, it doesn't really matter. The point is to have good transportation. Whether light rail or metro rail, doesn't matter. |
@Kilode: There was a similar saying in Forest of 1000 Daemons about a half-educated individual. Is there any greater threat to progress in a country? |
2mch:Let me ask you a question. Suppose you want to build a bus/haulage/trucking company. Would you buy brand new vehicles to start your business? Or find good, reliable used vehicles, at least to start? |
Gekko:What difference does it make whether it is light rail or subway? I actually don't even know what the difference is myself. Does it matter? I'm not complaining at all i guess something is better than nothing but this should raise your eyebrow a little .What would you have suggested they do? Go for the more expensive option? If so, where do you get the money for it? |
Is what Fashola buying worse than what they use in Washington, DC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Metro_rolling_stock Or worse than what is used in Boston: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Line_(MBTA) Look, if you don't like the cars, no wahala. I'm sure over time they'll upgrade to newer ones. But to START this project, what is wrong with doing it affordably? Why must brand-spankin new rail cars be bought? |
