Reyus: Hope this will reverse the downward trend of FBN somehow.
Hmmm I don't think so... Even interim dividends did not drive stock prices of banks like GTB and Access let alone FBNH. However, there is a building support at the N16 line so it may bounce back but I think it will still continue its dangling movement. Investors are still on full guard as to the effect of the hike in CRR. For me, na siddon look I dey for banking stocks until Q3 result come out.

Dr_OBD: I want to invest, but don't really understand this treasury bills. Can someone please explain to me how it works. If I invest 500k, what's d profit like?
Thanks
I will advise you read the posts on this thread from page one. It will really help. For calculation example, see post below:

RichYoungRuler: Hi, i guess U meant compound interest.
Lets use N100000 as an example. For 91days tenor at 11% per annum
11% is 11/100 X N100000 =N11000 at d end of a year which is 365days. So per day is
11000/365days.=30.137k per day.
For 91days, your interest will become N30.137k X 91days=N2,742.46k. I hope this helps.

Tassembly: Elar1,feelamong,others,pls calculate this for me or is firstbank trying to scam me again,i did 370,000naira TB for the last bid for 364days at the bank rate but i am sure it will be between 11-13percent. To my surprise today,i was credited with 10,765naira as interest. Is it not suppose to be 40k plus.pls help before i go and vex at their head office,or is it that they do 91days for me intead of 364.
As inze rightly suggested, they must have given you 91 days bills as there was no auction for 364 days. If this is the case then you must divide the interest (annual) by 4 to get quarterly (91 days) interest. So 40k+ divided by 4 equals 10k+. Try and demand for your treasury bill certificate so that you can see the actual tenure and interest rate they gave you.

ETI share certificates were sent out to Oceanic shareholders. If you have not received yours contact EDC registrars. You will then need to dematerialise and lodge in the share certificate to your CSCS. The ratio was one new ETI share for every 20 Oceanic shares previously held.

Theyjih: hi all, must commend the Op @stockbull et al. for this cool initiative.. its quite insightful going forward would be posting a couple of chartsfrom penny stock to large -cap for possible trade setup
DISCLAIMER :- kindly Do Your Due Diligence before humping wink

1) ABC transport

2013 channel range play 0.52-1.32 .. Bearish in all sense of the word across difff. time frame (monthly, weekly, daily) .. A bearish momentum(mo'mo) play = highly probable for short term traders on the break of the lower channel @0.74k which could flush poorly priced traders to a measured move down to .64-.58 ish. If the lower trendline holds which has been the case all year this year, mid =N=1.00 ish is more likely to be seen through the 4th qtr of this year IMHO

PS:_ the first bid scale is the point i intend getting long nimbling with a tight stop Around .60ish with my second entry if it breaks lower towards the 52 ish.. looking to play both sides

2) 7UP

to b contd.
Thanks a lot for the analysis. Please try and reduce the sizes of subsequent charts for greater legibility.

gosj: Of recent, Transcorp has been on a steady loss! Plz pals in the house, any known reason for this negative trend? Thanks!
I think stock prices are responding to the recent hike in CRR. CRR changes the market in general and not just the banking sector. Even other sectors may not get the types of loan they usually get from banks. The increased CRR drains excess cash from circulation and when this happens money is indirectly pumped out of the stock market. The only benefit I see is in the money market (treasury bills and others). But the money market and the stock market are inversely related- when one gains the other loses. When investors start making money in the money market investors will migrate their money from the stock market. However, when this happens opportunity will come for those who have money to buy into stocks and wait for long term reward. So nothing spoil... This is just my opinion.

It is not compulsory that the forms must go through your stockbroker. You can download the required E-mandate forms, fill in your information and take them to your bank to sign and stamp (this is usually free with most banks). Once your bank has endorsed the forms, you can then post to the various registrars. It is that simple and you don't have to spend money apart from postage fee.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Elai147: 2:17pm On Aug 20, 2013

@ihedioramma, CRR is the amount of money that banks have to keep with CBN as cash. CBN has increased it from 12% to 50% because there is too much liquidity in the banking industry. For example, if a bank’s deposit is N100 the bank will have to hold N50 with CBN as cash and will only be able to use the remaining N50 for investments and lending. So generally it means banks will have less funds available to them and therefore the money in circulation is reduced. This is my layman understanding of it... Someone should correct me if I'm wrong.

First Registrars introduces dividend prepaid card for customers

FIRST Registrars Nigeria Limited has launched a new dividend card for its customers, called ‘FirstDividend Plus Prepaid Card’, which is aimed at reducing the problem of unclaimed dividends in the Nigerian Capital Market.

The card, being the first ever dividend card in the market, is a premium-prepaid card issued to shareholders, in which dividend amounts due to them are automatically loaded or credited on the payable date.

According to First Registrars, shareholders can also load additional money into their card for future transactions and safekeeping, stressing that, “no more unclaimed dividends as you can now claim all your dividends right away without a bank account. It is our commitment to reducing unclaimed dividends”.
