brio: hello ogas
all my portfolios are banking stock. should i sell or wait as all are currently in red. i am afriad. please advice
I don't think there's any cause for alarm especially if you have good banking stocks. This is why it is good to diversify your portfolio. The banking sector is responding to the negative perception of CBN's 50% CRR policy for banks. If you were properly diversified, you would worry less. Please try and have a portfolio of diversified stocks and try to use different criteria to select the stocks in that portfolio.

RichYoungRuler: Bosses,if one is considering the negative cash flow, I think its not that bad from -N35b to about -N15b in a year but the reduced turnover and profit is what scares me.
My oga I totally agree with you. If the improvement continues like this, the negative cash flow will eventually cancel out. I think Oando will get back to profitability because they have done a lot of investments and incurred a lot of expenses. These are factors that causes cash outflows which in turn cause negative cash flow. So I am still holding firm on this coy, with caution though.

But come o, shouldn't we rather be praying for the bullish mart than the reds. Wouldn't be bad if nestle gets to 2k, oando to #180, etc each of us has somewhere our money are begging a breathe of the the bulls
Group A investors already have their positions and are praying for the Bulls to reign until they take their profits. However, Group B investors feel some of these stocks are overvalued and are praying for the Bears to reign so that they can buy. I wonder where the conflicting prayers will lead the market...so far the market no crash...

This their Cashflow statement put fear for my body. "NEGATIVE 15BILLA...."
E go hard to hear or see dividend for here again.
The thing shock me too o... I hope by FY 2013 they are able to cancel the negative cash flow. With a lot of work done so far I didn't expect them to get a positive cash flow by Q2 2013. As for me, I am trading Oando with caution. Na long term things I dey for Oando (if possible). So I am waiting for the right time (if it will ever come) to take the rest of my position. But we need to see great improvement in their cash flow and debt repayment.

jp130: tnx. Person suggest mak i wright courtville on d form and send 2 dem. They wil sort out dere. My concern is dat i bn send email 2 courtville plc n dey reply dat dia registrar is edc registrar @157 onipanu rd, ikorodu 4 lagos whic is diff frm d adress on dis particula form
That's another good suggestion. You can write Courtville at the top of the form and send to them. An email I received from EDC in April had "139 Broad Street Lagos" on it which is the same address as the one on your form. But a more recent email I received from them has a signature that reads 154, Ikorodu Road. Onipanu, Shomolu- Lagos. There are a lot of inconsistencies and contradictions on the contact details of most of these firms. You can't even trust the addresses on their websites as they may be old. I will advise you to call them and get their real address before wasting money to post E-dividend form that may never get to them. You can try the following phone numbers:

jp130: tnx Elai, i av dis particula form bt i cnt find list od companies frm which i i cn select courtville. If am 2 fill dis 1 nw, hw do i indicate courtville in d form for dia notice in dia office
Even in their new E-dividend form there is no option for you to select companies. My thought was that they are registrars to only ETI which was why I asked in my previous post if you were sure about EDC being the registrars for Courtville. When I sent them my E-dividend form for ETI, I did not indicate the company as there was no provision for that on the form. if you are very sure of this then you can just send them the E-dividend form and I am sure they will sort out the rest.

The thing tire me too. Na wait and see mode I dey now. Just take a look at a penny stock like Champion Breweries being technically tagged as " The Champions of NSE"- the best stock so far in this year... More than 46% gain in 4 days... This was a penny stock that posted a negative PAT for 2012 audited result and even for 2011. Does anyone know exactly what is happening here...?

Donvitalis: Hey guys, please can someone enlighten me more on this Treasury Bills? How do i place my bids and get my interest?
Read through this thread from page one for some knowledge on how T-bill works. You can place your bids via Banks and discount houses. The interest is usually paid upfront and at the end of the investment period you get your capital back.

WildChild00: But the problem now is the intrest rate, I read in a place where someone said he invested the sum of 250k naira for 91days on t-bill and made 7k naira as profit, to me dis is still not encurraging. My question is does it hv to do with bank to bank, i.e. In terms of profit?
As advised by Question, you have to do the calculations to determine how much interest you will earn from the investment before you invest. Even the banks invest in Treasury Bills because there is Zero risk in it. If you leave your money in savings account, your bank will use it to invest in T-bill for themselves. Except if you have better things to do with the money, investing it in T-bill is far better than leaving it in your regular savings account. The beauty of T-bill comes when the invested capital is huge. The higher the amount invested, the higher the interest.

Again, can a suspended stock broker by any means, sell the stocks in his/her custody?
Yes but they have to do it via another stockbroking firm that is active and the process may not be as fast as they could do if they were active. I don't really know the process they follow but there is a way they do it...

According to the Company, the change of Registrar was as a result of the receipt of notice of acquisition of its erstwhile Registrar - UAC Registrars Limited - by Africa Prudential Registrars Limited.

So-brit:
House, if a stock broker is suspended by sec, what is the fate of the clients of the brokering firm?
The stockbroking firm becomes temporarily inactive in terms of buying and selling stocks from the trading floor. Investors of such firm are expected to transfer their stocks to active stockbroking firms of their choice. The only investors who may have some difficulties are those who issued a sell mandate to the stockbroking firm just before the suspension. If the sale has been carried out and the investors have not received payments from such sales before the suspension, such investors will have to turn to SEC for their money and you know what that means... This is just my opinion.

Tassembly: @elai,sorry for late reply, 've been here and there, infact my acct was debited yesterday monday for the 365days firstbank.i was in 2branches ,oba akran and awolowo way area olow . They may give you 91days paper, cross the 91 and enter the number of days you want, also type a letter sign stating ure bidding for so so days. But they don't allow one to specify rate o,you just have to go with bank rate
Tassembly: If someone is going with the bank rate, can one still be unsuccessful. What makes bidders bid unsuccessful?
@Tassembly thanks for the info.

The thing is, First bank sells to you from their holdings. This is the reason why they can perform roll over of your investment for you even on a non-auction day and also the reason why they don't allow you to specify bid rate. Meanwhile, if you go with their bid rate, you are most likely going to be successful because they will give you at a reduced rate (lower than the stop rate) and of course, lower than the bid price at which they bought from the auction market... This is my opinion.

What makes your bid to be unsuccessful is when you bid too high (higher than CBN stop rate).
