donchichi: Does any one know if you will get lower interest rates if you invest say, 500k than when you invest 1million?If you buy from primary market auction, you get the same interest rate. It actually depends on your bid rate. But if you are buying from your bank's T-Bill holdings, they make bargain a lesser interest rate for the 500k. |
9free: Am begining to develop interest in ETI....... Anybody with me on this?I am very confident in that stock- though with a long term prospect. However, it needs to find a new support level (above N15) before I can add to my position. |
I hope we will soon start seeing interim dividends from some coys. |
janykute: Try and put a price tag on your orders.I always put a price tag whenever I place a mandate with my broker and they never buy above or sell below my price tag. That is what I will be doing from now onwards. Thanks. |
9free: Oga feelamong, am not happy with you oohh.... How can you open such a beautiful thread and not invite/notify your boys for months nowOga 9free, na here Oga feelamong and other ogas for dey recuperate their losses from NSE- also whenever the stock market is not favourable. But I am sure you know about this thread before now and that you also invest in T-bills. |
X-2-X:You may be right. One of my bankers don't always buy for me at the primary market. They will always give me one reason or the other for not being able to submit or execute my bid- I have never bided more than the stop rate in any PMA but yet they give me stories and later offer me something from their holdings in T-Bills. But what can I do? At least it's better than rejecting the offer and waiting for the next auction (with no interest) of which it's not certain they will submit my bid. |
nereiskc: Cashcraft (my stockbroking firm), don learn bad thing, whenever I place order for buy, they will buy for at d highest price d stock rose up to that day not even d closing price. Then if I place order for sale, they will sell at d lowest price @ which d stock went down to.....I hv noticed this in 3 of my transaction concurrently, I think I want out... So pals need suggestions of good stockbroking firm u have tested and trust in that hv interest of investors at heart, also that have online platform where u can place mandate of buy or sell. Thanks my ogas. Not all stockbrokers are good in the trade. If investors were allowed to trade directly in the trading floor, some of us would do better than these stockbrokers. You are not the only one that have experienced such. My stock broker USUALLY purchase stocks for me at the highest price attained by the stock for that day- High of the day. That is a clear example of an incompetent broker. When you complain, they will give you the popular story of "it depends on the ask prices of that particular stock". Also, as Chukyjones has suggested, they are there to make their money too. So they are only interested in buying the stock for you and getting their commission. The price at which they buy does not matter to them and does not affect them as long as you asked them to buy at market price. |
Toluway: Even in my bid to sent my box address to the registrars of the companies I invested in, the email addresses of many did not work, some email addresses worked, but they never replied. Nigerian environment na wa!I will advise that you only send E-mandate forms for stocks that you intend to keep for long term. There is no need sending E-mandate form for non-dividend paying stocks or for those stocks you intend to dispose before the year end. This will lessen the burden especially when you have a lot of stocks in your portfolio. Like you mentioned in your post, Nigeria environment na wa! It is so disappointing that some of these registrars cannot maintain their email addresses or email domain. They change their email addresses without updating it on their websites. I will not be surprised if I hear that some don't even have email addresses or websites. We just have to get used to it. And as Nereiskc suggested, try and download theses forms, fill and take them to your banker for their stamps and signature after which you should post them to the various registrars. Some of the forms may come back to you as "undelivered mail" but at least some will get through. If you want your stockbroker to do this for you then you may be asked to pay for their service. |
9free: Na so me sef load plenty Multiverse for my speculation portfolio in 2011, till this day I never see buyer for even a single unit.It is safer to invest in liquid stocks than illiquid ones. Till today, MBENEFIT & UNIVINSURE are still constituting nuisance in my portfolio. I cannot make such mistakes again. |
9free: Oga Eliai........ With all due respect, Item no. 9 is the only one I have the time and energy to expatiate. Should I carry on Sir?Lolxxxx No need Sir because I already have a thorough knowledge on that No. 9 - it is self explanatory. |
9free: Dem plenty na.......Oya make I list some. In no particular order.....:Oga 9free, please try and expatiate on the above apart from No. 9 |
mercylicious: Its there in d site. Rsi is under technical indicator while bolinger is under price band.Okay I will. There are some stocks that are not in their list of stocks under "Ticker Symbol". For example, Courtville and Portpaint are not among their stock list. |
fxisreal: keeping investors in d darkness like this not a good sign as experience in d past, sold down my holding already with this company jare, good stock dey mkt than holding on hope. insurance company for that matter, my cash under d pillow resting CASH IS KINGYou are very correct. Investors are tired of being kept in the dark. I can't wait to sell off my holdings in this sector and say goodbye to it. I cannot just imagine how I got myself involved in some of these insurance stocks. |
praxx: Hello guysWhat is the name of your stockbroking firm? They cannot just varnish into thin air. Do you have your Clearing House Number (CHN)? If you have any previous In-House statement from your broker, you can check for your CSCS number there. Alternatively, you can contact CSCS for assistance and advice. I am sure they can be of help. |
jossy26: This stock market sef, after identifying a good stock in portpaint; was so interested in cashing in some funds on the short term, but my otondo stock broker couldn't get it. so na siddon look I dey, dey see d price rising. This is really paining meLolxx na everywhere o.. My broker could also not get any No. of units for me. @fxisreal... Thanks. I would have preferred the one with indicators like the Bollinger Bands and RSI because I am having a feeling that Portpaint will soon be overbought and I need to know if the trend is heading that way as I don't want to enter when the stock starts experiencing a pullback. Anyone with RSI indicator of portpaint should help pls. |
Please anyone know where I can get candlestick chart for PORTPAINT? It's not on the Trw stockbrokers website. |
jossy26: What is it with UACN? They acquire a company and the stock start doing well....atleast maybe for the short term; it was livestock before and now portpaintAnd Portpaint stock is now very scarce in the market. I've been trying to get it for some time now. I'll soon stop the pursuit and concentrate on other stocks. |
saanil: Any idea when did this merger happen? Also any views on the stock?Check this link for more information on the acquisition. http://www.proshareng.com/news/15564 The stock is a very good one but presently, investors may not be pleased with its recent dividend payouts compared to its likes in the same sector. However, this is due to its being a conglomerate firm (with banking operations in 33 African countries). According to recent consensus forecast, ETI will outperform the market and investors were advised to purchase equity in the company. I am sure investors will enjoy this coy in the long term. |
mercylicious: Hello house,In my opinion, UBCAP is a good stock but since it was listed it has not made substantial progress. It may be good for long term. I have been following the stock for the past 3 months and have not seen any good entry point for short term, maybe when it becomes oversold. |
veeco vee: Well ETI and ECOBANK used to be listed separately on nse pricelist...who knows weather they ' ve mergedETI is the parent company of Ecobank and yes there was a merger. I used to have Ecobank shares but it's now ETI. |
saanil: Hi Guys,I have no doubt the banking sector will do well this year- especially the ones you have listed, including Acess bank. They may not give 100% returns to investors but certainly close in the range. There are some of them that are good for long term. Axe Finance described Nigeria as Africa’s leading IT innovative country in the banking sector with modern infrastructure and a robust customer base. |
PHIPEX: Pls my Ogas in the house, can anyone help us with this information because am also very interested in it. I've gotten the dividend already but the bonus hasn't been credited, what could be the cause?Sometimes bonuses may not be readily credited in your CSCS account. You should allow some time for this. Alternatively you can contact the registrars for better information. nereiskc: Good evening pals, pls when is the payment and allotment dates of okomuoil coy of their 2012 FYE., 2ndly, must one fill something like allotment forms for city securities limited (registrar of okomuoil) to claim his benefit...... Your ans will b highly appreciated. They have started paying out dividends (payment date: 20-05-2013). If you are yet to receive yours, contact the registrars. If you have not yet register for E-dividend, please do- the registrar can assist you with this and you can be receiving subsequent dividends in your bank account- which is usually faster and better. |
feelamong: Yea its suppose to be every two weeks but once in a while the Oga at Top in CBN distorts this..Oga feelamong, please where, in the CBN website, can I find the T-Bill time table? Can you give me a link to the page please. |
fxisreal: There is no bad time to enter the market what am saying for example those who enter market this month is better than who bought last month and am sure those who will enter in few month time will surely better than those who currently buying.Well understood.. especially for those who are trading. For me, I look for good times to enter the market and add to my positions on my long term stocks while I sell the other stocks as soon as I make good profit and standby to re-enter and trading continues... |
Omexonomy: The seriousness in this section is too much. I think we need a clown or a commedian to make us laugh at least once in a while. I will nominate stockbull during the bulish period. While stockbear durring the bearish period.Lolxxx All work and no play makes stock investing a dull Biz... |
Toluway: Ihedioramma

The guy's post does not have enough information for us to know what/when he was actually talking about. Perhaps, he can throw more lights on it. High volume and increase in price indicates there was a lot of buying but it also indicates an equal amount of selling. You may think it is time for selling but the truth is as you are selling, others are buying. For a transaction to take place, there must be a buyer and a seller. It is the price that will tell if the pressure was on demand or supply. So unless you apply market psychology or the law of demand and supply to what's happening in the market, you stand a good chance of misinterpreting what's actually happening. Some of us have been buying recently and have made cool profits... |
Aks: I gave instruction to my stockbroker to buy Livestock shares for me on Monday and he strongly advised that i stay away from it cos there is no strong fundamentals on ground. He told me their coy had bad experience on the stock of recent that it's difficult to recoup anything on it when the bear period surface, my advise on peeps clamouring for Livestock is to thread carefully.Your stockbroker may not be far from the truth. Livestock is one of those coys whose unprecedented growth, since the start of the year, is not being supported by adequate fundamentals. However, this does not stop some sharp investors from diving in and diving out as soon as they make good profit because buying Livestock at current skyrocketing price for long term may be risky. As for me, if Livestock no come back to N3.00, I no dey do. |
9free: Bros, no look for my trouble ooo..... Na bears I need for nowI hope Okomu Oil is dancing to our direction o.. |
