I think a much better question is ... What do you mean by "God"?

What gives you the impression that IF a god exists, it has to be singular?

This assumes not only that a sort of deity exists, but that you know its minds, views, gender, as well as its desires. What objective proof do you have for any of these statements?

This statement implies that you know how they came about. I'm curious to know how, and what proof you have for this claim. Thanks

Wilgrea7:
Thank you very much for this question. Really. This is something I've been wanting to talk about for a while. By supernatural I would assume you're talking about something that can't be explained by our current knowledge of the physical universe.
The supernatural, I believe, is not just something that can't be explained by your current knowledge of the physical universe, but also what you will never be able to replicate or accomplish using any knowledge of the physical universe. So, whatever falls into the category of the supernatural must be something that requires some kind of supernatural power or force. Don't you think so? For instance, physics, in its own way, has been able to state how thunder and lightning likely occur, but cannot make them roar and blaze in the sky. Or am I not correct?

Wilgrea7:
I want to use the example of the burning bush. Let's say I wake up and all of a sudden, my chair is on fire. Although the fire doesn't consume it. And this said fire is talking to me (I swapped out chair for the bush in the story of Moses)

So let me ask a follow-up question. Why do i have to believe a supernatural being which appears before me and performs these "miracles" is telling the truth. Objectively speaking, is there any thing that prevents something which can perform extraordinary feats from lying?
In the scenario that you created above, why wouldn't you believe such a supernatural being if no other supernatural being has ever accomplished, or will ever accomplish, such a feat? If no other supernatural being even has the ability to accomplish such a feat, why won't you believe?

About the supernatural being lying. Before you can even accuse such being of lying, you must have a previous experience of such feat, especially from or with another supernatural being. Don't you agree? If not, with what are you going to use as a template for the comparison and the subsequent conclusion?

Just so we are clear; God spoke to Moses from within the bush and other supernatural signs were given to him right there. The Scripture didn't say that the fire spoke to Moses.

Wilgrea7:
A supernatural being as you've put it, appearing before me and claiming to be "God" is only trying to "defeat a strawman" which is basically disproving a fake argument. What rule is there that says a supernatural event or encounter is needed to serve as proof of a "God"?
What rule is there that says a supernatural event or encounter is not needed as proof of any god?

Wilgrea7:
If i wanted to prove to you that I built a rocket from scratch, and then proceeded to do a fancy dance, and throw a piece of dynamite on the ground as proof, does that mean I really built a rocket?
Nope!

Wilgrea7:
Let me use a much more practical example. We are Nigerians. We know what they call jazz or voodoo. If someone performed used voodoo to appear before you, and turned your dog into a chicken, and then said to you "I am your creator.. I created the entire universe".. would you believe the person? I don't think so.
What you said above is a bit tricky. One must tackle it with utmost care.

My question now is: "has there ever been a scenario where anyone used jazz or voodoo or whatever to turn a dog into chicken?

To turn a dog into chicken means that such power can also create a dog and a chicken. Don't you think so?

Any power that has the ability to accomplish such a feat should be able to do more. It means, therefore, that if such power can literally turn a man into a horse or horse into a man, such power can also create man as well as a horse. What do you think?

Wilgrea7:
Supernatural experiences are proofs of supernatural experiences. Nothing more. Proof of a supreme independent, and creator God of the universe is completely different from some supernatural experience occurring.
Supernatural occurrences and experiences are proofs that supernatural powers and beings exist. The supernatural events, occurrences and experiences can't be separated from how the Creator works. Is it even possible?

If a supernatural Being told you that he made the universe and everything in it - humans, plants, animals, the sun, the moon, the stars, thunder and lightning, the rain, the wind, the seas, etc, and he said he could prove it by exerting some influence on the sun and he did, would you believe in him?
Christianity Etc › Re: It's OK To Question Your Beliefs by elated177:
Wilgrea7:
Happy Sunday wonderful people.

When it comes to religion, especially in Nigeria, questioning your specific religion or beliefs is something that's usually frowned upon. In any civilized society, it definitely shouldn't be the case.

I'm not here to try and sway anyone away from what they believe in. I just want people who have questions to know its okay to have those questions. And if they're willing to seek answers objectively, its possible to do so too.

I'll also be creating some more topics on the different aspects of religion, and belief in God/gods in general, as time goes on.

My goal is to have honest, open-minded discussions on topics like this. Stay tuned for more. Peace
It is very much ok to question your beliefs. This much I have come to extrapolate from my Scriptures. You see, the Creator is an intelligent Being. He created humans and gave them intelligence. He didn't create us to be zombies.

Deut 29:29  The secret things belong to YHVH our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

Humans are never going to know everything. Everything that those who seek, and will seek, the Creator need has been revealed to us. He is never going to reveal what he doesn't see as necessary in our search for him.

So, it is normal to have questions bordering on one's beliefs.

Matthew 7: 7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Acts 17: 24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 YHVH did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’

Pay particular attention to the italicized portion, verse 27, of the Scripture quoted directly above.

To wrap up:

Hebrews 1: 1 In the past YHVH spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

I had to quote from my Scriptures because of the stance that I have taken in this discourse.

Christianity Etc › You Are No Threat To Satan And His Kingdom Of Wickedness. by elated177(op):
El Elohe Yahshrael!

Luke 6: 46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

Revelation 12: 17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep YHVH’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Yahushua.

Simply because you say that Yahushua the Messiah is the Word and the begotten Son of YHVH Almighty, our Father in heaven, the one and only true God, does not make you a threat to Satan and his forces of wickedness. Even Satan and the forces of wickedness know who and what Yahushua the Messiah is.

Luke 4: 33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, 34 “Go away! What do you want with us, Yahushua of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of YHVH!”

Mark 1: 23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, 24 “What do you want with us, Yahushua of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”

James 2: 17 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

So long as you do not obey the Commandments of Yahushua the Messiah, Satan and his forces of wickedness do not see you as a threat to their kingdom.

Let me repeat this portion of the Scripture.

Revelation 12: 17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep YHVH’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Yahushua.

You see, Righteousness is the only threat to unrighteousness; just as light is the only thing that can cancel darkness.

The truth is that the forces of wickedness cherish and promote those who put on and assign to themselves all kinds of religious tags, names, titles, offices, etc, but do not teach and obey the Truth. What is this Truth? The Truth that obedience to the Ten Commandments of YHVH Almighty, the Creator of the heavens, the earth, the seas and everything in them, the one and only true God, is the ONLY SALVATION and SOURCE OF SALVATION AND HOPE FOR ETERNAL LIFE IN HIS KINGDOM.

So, it doesn't matter if you call yourself junior pastor or senior pastor; bishop or archbishop; GS or GO; reverend or priest. It doesn't matter whether they call you papa or daddy; mama or mummy; GS or GO; prophet or prophetess or seer. It doesn't matter whether you pull the highest crowd; have the biggest building; drive the latest cars; have the highest number of SUVs and jets. You are of no single solitary threat to Satan and his kingdom of wickedness if you are not of Righteousness - teaching and obeying the Commandments of YHVH Almighty.

Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

John 12: 35 Then Yahushua told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. 36 Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Yahushua left and hid himself from them.

I don't think there is any shred of ambiguity in what light means in this message. Light is associated righteousness - obedience to the Commandments of the Father in heaven, YHVH Almighty. Those who obey the Commandments of YHVH Almighty, the one and only true God, have his light in them, on them and around them. It is this light that scares, troubles and torments Satan and his forces of wickedness/darkness. It is this light that makes the forces of wickedness uncomfortable wherever and whenever they encounter any of the saints, servants and messengers of Yahushua the Messiah.

Saints, servants and messengers of Yahushua the Messiah, let us keep shining.

El Elohe Yahshrael! Hallelu YAH!
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Yahushua The Messiah Can't Be Michael The Arch Angel. by elated177(op): 5:23pm On Jun 18, 2022
MaxInDHouse:
Long ago God spoke to our forefathers by means of the prophets on many occasions and in many ways. Now at the end of these days he has spoken to us by means of a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the systems of things. He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact representation of his very being, and he sustains all things by the word of his power. And after he had made a purification for our sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. So he has become better than the angels to the extent that he has inherited a name more excellent than theirs.  For example, to which one of the angels did God ever say: “You are my son; today I have become your father”? And again: “I will become his father, and he will become my son”?  But when he again brings his Firstborn into the inhabited earth, he says: “And let all of God’s angels do obeisance to him.” Hebrews 1:1-6

During that time Miʹcha·el will stand up, the great prince who is standing in behalf of your people. And there will occur a time of distress such as has not occurred since there came to be a nation until that time. And during that time your people will escape, everyone who is found written down in the book. And many of those asleep in the dust of the earth will wake up, some to everlasting life and others to reproach and to everlasting contempt. “And those having insight will shine as brightly as the expanse of heaven, and those bringing the many to righteousness like the stars, forever and ever. “As for you, Daniel, keep the words secret, and seal up the book until the time of the end. Many will rove about, and the true knowledge will become abundant.” Daniel 12:1-4

A PRINCE can only be Son of the KING.
So Archangel Michael is the Prince who put on the form of slave (became lesser than angels by becoming a humans) for our SALVATION! wink
Hebrews 1:1-6 that you quoted above disagrees with you.

Isn't the Messiah for everyone?

Janosky:
Point 1.
Oga,it was the popular belief in Christendom , acknowledged by Trinitarians and Bible scholars alike, that Jesus Christ is archangel Michael, (the Geneva Bible,1599 @ Daniel 12:1 & 10:13, confirmed this) before the Advent & proliferation of 1611 KJV Bible under the influence of the king of England who undermined the printing and proliferation of 1599 Geneva Bible .
To officially spread Trinity doctrine, the king James had to suppress 1599 Geneva Bible from the populace & English speaking world.
.
.
Point 2
Genesis 16:7 & Malachi 3:1, Amplified Bible & Geneva Bibles , both Bible translations of Trinitarians, proven that Jesus is an angel of Jehovah, his Father.
Numerous times, I have shared screenshots confirming the biblical evidence as well as church leaders (Catholics, Anglican etc. ) Confirmation of this truth.

Let me explain thoroughly the biblical evidence..

A)
Do you know God's prophecy of Genesis 3:15?
Who is that serpent of Genesis 3:15?
Answer: Satan the Devil, Revelation 12:9.

B)
Who defeated the serpent of Genesis 3:15?
Answer: The seed, Jesus Christ (@Gal 3:16), the Archangel Michael @ Revelation 12:7-9, breaking up the works of the devil @1 John 3:8.

C)
Jacob is also called Israel, Peter is also called Simon, Dorcas is called Tabitha,Jesus is called 'the Word','the Messiah", why not the archangel Michael he is?
D)
Why is Jesus the Archangel Michael ?
Answer:
Because Jesus is the son of God leading other sons (Angels) of God in battle, glory & victory @Matt25:31, 2 Thess1:7-8, Daniel 10:13.
E)
Whose voice resurrects the dead?
Answer: Archangel Michael,1Thess4:16 & John 5:28.

F)
Oga, pls pay thorough attention to this point and know the Bible truth of Daniel 10:13 & 12:1.
Many persons do not understand the use and meaning of Hebrew word "Haa.hat" (Hebrew lexicon 259) translated "the one/one of" at Daniel 10:13.
Biblical evidences: Daniel 10:13, Genesis 4:19 and Genesis 10:25 "Haa.hat" (Hebrew lexicon 259) translated "the one/one of" at Daniel 10:13 means "First/Senior/Leader of the pack.
Matthew 25:31,2Thess1:7-8, Daniel 10:13,Jn3:16 ,is Jesus Christ leading the sons of God to victory & salvation of Daniel and mankind?
Resoundingly YES !!
This is hilarious. You resorted to the teachings and commentaries of those you claim you despise? Very desperate, Janosky.

I am 100% correct about her cheating... my brother is out of the country for a year now... I am just about the only person that knows about it in the family, do I keep shut and continue minding my own crap, or do I burst bubbles?
Anyone who is in a situation similar to the one described above, should not hesitate to let his/her brother know. You don't overlook an adulterous brother-in-law or sister-in-law. Not if you love your brother or your sister. No morally upright individual would advise you to mind your business in this regard. In fact, you are not a good brother or sister if you have the knowledge of your brother-in-law or sister-in-law being touched inappropriately and you do not relay it to your sister or brother.

Under no circumstances should you confront or try advising the adulterous brother-in-law or sister-in-law.

The fact that so many are of the opinion that the person in such a situation should mind his or her business shows the kind of society we are living in today. Quite a pity!

Any spouse who cheats on you can eliminate you if possible.

No reason is enough for adultery. I am speaking as a servant of the one and only true God. He said:

"I will not acquit the guilty or condemn the innocent".

Those who have the fear of the Creator of the heavens, the earth, the seas and everything in them, YHVH Almighty, the one and only true God, will not only abstain from adultery, but from all forms of sexual immorality, as well. The lawless people of the world can follow their own whims and caprices. We, the saints, servants and messengers of Yahushua the Messiah will follow the laws of our Father in heaven, YHVH Almighty. We are within the perimeter of the Commandments of our Father in heaven.

Say no to adultery. Send the adulterous woman away. Save your life.

Nairalanders I need y'all mature advice on this issue, No insults tho

I have been friends with my male friend for over 11years now, so he is more like a brother to me! He got married 3yrs ago, But we live in the same district, I do visit them once in a while! And I usually bump into his wife at market places, malls or on the street due to the fact that we live in the same district.

My friend is hardly around for the past few Weeks due to the fact that he do travel for work. . .But recently I have been seeing his wife with a Man just about the age of my friend, I have seen them together at the mall for 3 times now for a period interval of 3 weeks, I usually dodge and escape myself so they won't see me! The last time I saw them together I took a sneak pictures of them, I don't know this man, I have never seen him when I visit them, he is not a family member! I have been curious so I feel I should call the attention of my friend to this and send him the pictures too!

Should I tell him about it or what? I am confused!
You know your friend better than anyone else here. You know the kind of person he is.

Look for the best way to relay your observations to him. If he is really your friend, you owe it to him. The "Mind your business" song that some people are singing here should never be an alternative in this situation. Unless, of course, you do not wish him well. Seeing such a thing about your friend and not letting him know about it is tantamount to him eating a poisonous food on your very watch.

If it turns out to be nothing, then you would have fulfilled your role as a good friend.

Some people use the Scripture above to support their claim that Michael is also Yahushua the Messiah. They fail to acknowledge the portion below:

Revelation 10: 13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.

Michael was referred to as one of the chief princes. It means, therefore, that there are/were other chief princes.

You essentially polluted this thread with your negativity, while pretending to know God's name and keep harping on it.
YHVH is HEBREW. God is too HUGE to be confined to one language.
That is why even his Hebrew name that you keep dropping means "I AM THAT I AM". In Igbo God's name is CHUKWU. Some Igbo call God "Amamaamasiamasi". And they are still correct!
I will not allow you to bottle the Most High creator of all things. He created ALL languages and inspired ALL of them to have a name for HIM.
You will not succeed in destroying the essence of the message in the original post.
I remain here to defend it to any length.
Straw man. Ihe efu!

Clearly you are not interested in the message of the thread.
You are only interested in attacking the messenger. lol
Again, go and read your posts from the beginning.
The message is very simple and has been conveyed.
True lovers of God have already taken note and moved on, but you are here pugnaciously accusing the messenger.
What is "motivational speaking" about telling people that is pays to serve God in some physical capacity?
You sound so much like a Pharisee of Jesus' era! shocked
You need to go and study the character of the people who hated Jesus for healing a man with a withered hand on a Sabbath day!
He ended up not saying anything.
Mtcheeeeew! Keep trying to cover up. Sorry o!

YHVH Almighty knows his saints, servants and messengers.
