My message was not directed at you, but those taking shots at him lol.

Yeah true, but then Street cred is not about doing those things as of lately. People are leaving behind the "Hood mentality" but it appears some people will bring it up hence why they jibe at him for his hollywood stints.

Personally, I will do anything to make money and secure my future. grin
Yeah that's true . . . More people are dropping the 'hood' mentality.
I think the hood/gangster thing is bad for black people anyway.

ElRazur:
Eldee, I dont think there are written or unwritten rules. It is nothing but pure jealousy and probably an attempt to undermine his credibility - not that he can be done though.

Tupac when he was alive had the same issue, only this time from the Hollywood people not keen on taking him serious as a real actor.
What makes you think I'll be jealous of Ice Cube?? come on man . . . I'm more of trying to let this guy retire in peace.

The only reason why Pac was never taken serious by Hollywood was because he was in an era when gangster rap meant gangster rap.
He could not leave the life of beating up people and going on unnecessary gangwars . . . he still had his 'streetcred' intact, Ice Cube doesn't.
Music/Radio › Re: Ice Cube Disses Kanye, Eminem, Jay-z, Dr Dre And Everyone In New Song. by eldee(op): 7:46pm On Apr 07, 2010
@ElRazur
That's true actually . . . people like to take the piss off Ice Cube.
But this sounded more like an 'I know it all' song than a fightback one.

@slimshay
Look at your verse . . .
Will Smith - Big movies
Mos def - Deep rappers, like the KRS-One army
Ice Cube - Temperature/cool/popular (among white people)

Sinatra was a hardman, cool . . . but he wasn't from Brooklyn or Compton.
The measure of how hard someone is in those areas is determined by what you do/control. . . that's one of the few things left from early 90s hiphop, please don't take it away.

Kanye and Jay-Z don't beg for street-cred, they'll rather ball with Tom Cruise and Beckham. That's what I expect Ice Cube to do now that he's a top actor in his own right.
Gangsters don't do comedy flicks . . . because those are the rules set by the projects they love to claim so much.
Now I'm not saying it makes you less of a rapper, but it makes you sound stupid when you come and chat B.S about killing people.

ElRazur:
Eldee my point is that Rappers diversify and as such, I do not see how that is losing street cred. Street cred do not pay bills or secure future. smiley
Yeah I know that . . . but if street cred doesn't pay bills, why is Ice Cube struggling so hard for it??

I have more respect Will Smith than I do for Biggie, that's because I'm not from Brooklyn projects.
But if you want respect from those guys, you can't be talking from both sides of your mouth.
Music/Radio › Re: Ice Cube Disses Kanye, Eminem, Jay-z, Dr Dre And Everyone In New Song. by eldee(op): 6:49pm On Apr 07, 2010
@Slimshay
Ice Cube is not a Kanye or a Drake . . . he claims to be 'hood'.
They don't body people in Hollywood, or does he peel caps in 90210.

He even came out to talk about Jay-Z always being on vacation . . . isn't that just fake coming from someone that's always on set??

Dude, street cred isn't about money, it's about being able to do stuff, the rules are strict.
And 50 Cent referring to Ice Cube in the same breath as Will Smith says a lot. (Remember that it was more to do with 'Ice' being 'cool')
Will Smith doesn't want street cred, he loves his Oscars.

The new Ice Cbe is just 'TV In The Radio'.

People take a shot at him for "going Hollywood".

He is not the type to get into beef for no reason.
Erm . . . but he did go Hollywood didn't he??

That's the problem, he wants to eat his cake and have it . . . even Jay-Lo is finding it had to get critical reviews on both sides, not to talk about someone who does 'Are we there yet' and comes back the friday after next to tell us he's still kills.

Eldee, go and sit down abeg.

Ice Cube has right to diss anyone he wants cos hes got the kudos to do so.

Even Kanye would tell you Ice Cube is a legend to him.

And his career is not failing. His last album went gold with no promotion, and he kept all the money cos he's signed to himself.

Err'one knows theres no ill-feeling in his disses. Ice Cube was always a rebel. Thats his style.
I don't care about his money jare . . .
Yeah he's a legend but he needs to STFU and know when to stick to movies.

All this dissing for no reason is wack to me . . . if you want friendly competition, do it the rapper way . . . feature him and trash him on your track.
Music/Radio › Re: Ice Cube Disses Kanye, Eminem, Jay-z, Dr Dre And Everyone In New Song. by eldee(op): 3:24pm On Apr 07, 2010
ElRazur:
Eldee his last two album should be on your list. He's got a point.

His career is long from dead. He probably makes more money as he is independent and gets more points than most for his album.
Come on . . . he's one of those rappers that based their careers on street stories.
It was cool back then when he supposedly used to be gangster, but I've seen him in way to many comedy movies and Oscar red carpets to take him serious now.

It's just like me watching Ryan Reynolds threatening to 'clap' me.
Rappers need to decide what's most important, the text or the story. . . Ice Cube is gone.

I think Jay-Z should do a diss track and say ''is it 'Are we there yet??' or 'FuckthePolice' grin grin

Shouldn't he just stick to acting or sumn??

I heard his beef songs last year and I'm thinking, nigga . . . you live in Hollywood or smn STFU.
If anyone should be doing 'the I'm hood' ish, it's not Ice Cube.

Ice Cube Calls Out Eminem, Dre, Kanye & More in 'Drink The Kool-Aid'

Ice Cube wants everyone to know he hears what they have been saying. At a recent "Paid Dues" show, Cube told fans what he had to say. "There's been a gang of motherf*ckers talking sh*t about your boy Ice Cube," he told fans at a Paid Dues concert. "I love it though -- I got a message to the new emcees in the house right now, You can't diss Dr. Dre. You can't diss Eazy-E. You can't diss Ice-T. You can't diss King Tee. No, you cannot diss Ice Cube. No, I ain't going for it. And any of you young motherf*ckers that do want to diss, I got one thing to say before you do it. You better check yourself before you wreck yourself."

In the song "Drink The Koolaid" Ice Cube calls out EVERYONE, check out his verse below calling out Kanye, Dr Dre & Eminem

"I rock the Louie, but not like Kanye
I ain’t the doctor,this ain’t the patient.
This ain’t the nigga always on vacation.
This ain’t the white boy’s rehabiliation."

Arsene Wenger adds firepower to Arsenal squad with Bordeaux's Marouane Chamakh

Arsene Wenger has secured his first signing of the summer with Marouane Chamakh’s move from Bordeaux now confirmed.
But it will come as no surprise to Arsenal fans, many of whom are desperate for Wenger to dip into his £45million of reserves, that he is arriving on a free transfer.
Nevertheless, Chamakh’s arrival on a £12m four-year deal should add significant firepower to an Arsenal side who have struggled with the amount of injuries they have had to contend with this term.
Chamakh, who scored a typical headed goal in Bordeaux’s Champions League quarter-final against Lyon, could theoretically face Arsenal in the final.
