They call it Red box. I think it is America’s equivalent of what we call video club in Lagos (i dont know if it still exists). This one you pay, rent and return the video or game all by yourself without any human interaction. Talk about DIY. I could be wrong. Experts in the house should clarify..

Beautyaddy: Are you for real
What is expensive with buying ordinary fruit at $1.32 per dollar?
You are comparing the dollar rate with a very low in value Naira currency rate...unbelievable! Well...if I go to Mama-put, that amount can get me amala, pure water and two pices of meat lol. Or if i take public transport in Lagos, that amount can take me from Ikeja to Obalende. |

It may be less expensive to buy online! Emmm .....I dont want people back home to know who I am because of security issues therefore I can only say the pictures were taken somewhere in Texas. Its like staying at the Long Island this trip might not be possible. I would loved to see how Longgggg the Island is lol. Dremca: How can someone identify organic ones? It is usually written on the prize tag ( look closely at the tag on the apples earlier posted), on the section of the particular fruits and if in doubt ask the store staff to differentiate it for you. See pix of Organic banana.

Hey Originalsly,
I am gonna be in the US for some days. Emmm... I want to post some stuffs in here, hope u no go vex? I dont want to create my thread since I am not staying long.
So let me talk about traffic light. Some years ago, when I first came to the US, crossing the road was kinda stressful for me because the roads are very wide. By the time i get to the middle of the road, a car will be within my sight and so I have to run faster, lol. Even at the traffic light, the do-not-walk pedestrian light stays on for a long time before changing to “walk” and the “walk” sign stays for a very short period. This continued until a child showed me the right way to go about it. Yup! Me an adult learning from a child. Lol. He said I just have to press a button on the pedetrian crossing pole, after sometime it will change from red (do not walk) to white (walk) so I can cross. Na wa! Hopefully this will be installed in our roads in Nigeria.
See pictures below. The blue circle shows where the button is. This information might seem minor, but I know someone will benefit from it.

If only our government can install this type of traffic lights that tell when to cross and whento stop. See pictures below from a typical state in US.

cochtrane: I'm attempting to renew my US visa with the dropbox program. I did this once two years ago, but did it myself. Now, I wanna get someone to do it for me as I'm not available at the moment. Deal is, I can't remember if I had to sign anything at the DHL office the last time I renewed the visa and so needed to be there myself. You think someone can help submit all the docs at the DHL without issues? So funny! I don’t remember signing anything being that the document it is for myself. Signing any document would have been second nature to me and not worthy of note. |

NYPD: In the united states if you get pulled over by the police. Keep your hands in the steering wheel and wait for the police officer to get to you wothout moving. Any sudden movement would make the officer think you are about to pull out a gun or attack him. Oh ok! This information is helpful. I have been wondering what to do in such a situation. Thanks. |

FrankNetter: Driving
Most of my posts on instagram show me driving. So someone slid into my dms asking me about the traffic laws and stuff.
Here are some rules I’ve figured out so far.
On the highway, the most important law is “go with the flow of traffic”. Everyone can’t be going at 60mph and you’re driving at 20mph, you will be pulled over by the cops. On 3 or 4 lane highways, the lane on the left is reserved for passing (overtaking), you cannot drive slow on that lane. Similarily, the lane on the right is for slower driving cars If you notice people slowing down, slow down too. Chances are there’s a cop hidden somewhere waiting to pull you over. Nice one. I noticed that people drive over the speed limit on the highway. It got me wondering if they break the law with style. I got a question to ask. If a policeman pulls you over, what do you do in order to avoid stories that touch? 1. Do you raise your hands so that he sees it as he is coming. 2. Do you put out your two hands from the window so that he can see them? 3. Do you put your hands on the steering or on your laps? 4. Do you come out of the car? Just want to know. |

ttmacoy: Yes it is allowed. The only thing to be aware of is if a permanent resident you need to make sure you don't flout the requirements for maintaining your status i.e. you must be physically present in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) in every 5-year period.
If a citizen there is no such restriction and you can go and come as you please. So therefore its not easy for an old person (immigrant) with permanent residency or a canadian citizen to travel to his initial home country to retire. |

Neljiggy: My POE experience goes thus royal air maroc wasn't bad after all i will give them an 8 star ranking. I had 3hours stopover at casblanca morocco the plane was full to the brim everytime I think Nigerian and Americans really like the airline to cut the long story short after an 8 hours flight over the Atlantic we arrived new York around 7pm we had to que but later the cops told me to go to another que I was interviewed by this cute African American girl she was nice and polite but she questioned why I had not paid for my hotel she asked why i did the booking only so I was told to go. So after getting my luggage I was told by another woman she asked to see my passport so I removed it from my jacket and gave her immidately so she told to go and I was stopped again by another cop who checked the same document after leaving there I decided to put my wallet, passports, my wallet, my ATM passport, drivers license and other valuables in my hand luggage that was my biggest mistake, i left the airport after taking my first two step I was stopped by this huge guy who told me to stop and follow him becauseI thought he was another cop so I was followed him to his escalade he was actually a cab man so he told me he was ready to take me anywhere at first I was nervous because I thought to my I don't even know you but later i summoned courage and followed him after like five minutes drive we got to the car barrier so he told me to give him money I told him my wallet was in his trunk so I gave him 100$ and he paid 35$ and he gave me the change. He said I should pay him 350$ I thought he said 35$, he was adamant about the amount of money. So later he started saying the money was not his, later he started threatening me that he will call the police he said I should give him 100$ first I gave him then later he told me too add 250$ I didn't not answer him so I told to drop me off which he did immidately little did I know the newyork train station was opposite JFK airport I asked for direction so I went inside because this is my first time in new York i missed my way i walked aimlessly for about 2hours finally I got into the train and after like 7mins I got to new jersey train station and I asked a black dude where I could get a sim card because my stupid Airtel sim that I roamed wasn't working my luggage was already spoilt becsuse i was walking aimlessly everywhere so begged a cop to help me kerp my bag I also told a black dude to help me watch it i was gone for about five minutes when I came back my hand luggage was gone. The luggage contained the my wallet, my passports., 2 phones and other valuables so I reported the matter to the cops they told me they will check the security camera. I just got back from there right now they said the police report will he ready on Friday. Model of my long story is American cops don't like black at all so be careful with your belongings. Sorry about the typo. SHALOM Life is full of experiences. Atleast, haven gone through this, you most likely will not fall for it again. Meanwhile thumbs up for sharing your experience. An advise for others is to always read sign board. The airport is full of it. Just by reading the sign board your need to ask questions reduces drastically. Note that outside the airport, there are private taxi cabs that want you to patronize them, just like our local airports here in Nigeria. They can only beckon on you. They will not touch you. The best is to take taxi from the airport to your destination if your bouyant enough and dont want stress of hopping the train. If you follow the Ground Transport signboards it will take you to where the airport taxis are parked. |

Bossman: The roughest areas where majority off these crimes occur are the South Side and West Side. The total population of the two areas combined is less than 5% of the total Chicagoland area population. However, over 90% of the crimes in all of Chicagoland happen in those 2 areas. Is there a site that lists the cities to ge avoided by tourists in the US? I know Detroit is a violent place... |
