How can one differentiate between parking officials and agberos? How can one even know that where he intends to park is government controlled or agbero controlled? It is not a secret that tags and receipts fly around everywhere. How do we know if they are printed by government or forged by touts, who pose as government officials. They all encourage you to park and some of them forcefully extort you. That is the park officials and touts. We also have the issue of LASTMA officials who - conniving with police personnel - overreach themselves. They also extort citizens. Some years ago, I stopped at Alaba Rago, opposite LASU to purchase rice. It was the 24th of December. Other cars and buses parked there too. Out of nowhere, LASTMA and police personnel surrounded my car and claimed that I should not park there. I then wanted to move, but they refused and said that they were arresting me for wrong parking. I did not argue. They said that they were taking me to their office at Ketu, before Agbara. One policeman and one LASTMA man jumped into my SUV and I did not complain. Then the policeman suggested that we could settle. I asked him the terms and he asked for 30K. I asked him how much the fine was at the office and the LASTMA man quickly said 50k. I offered 2k and they both asked if I was calling them children. I said YES and they got angry and we moved on. Just before driving into the office, they asked if I would make it 20k and I said since I was already close to their office, I could only offer 1K. That got them mad. We stopped and they asked the security man to open the gate. I drove in and and said bye bye to them. I then told them to make find their way to their team by public transport. It pained them. Long and short, I reported to the boss in the office and he ordered them to return to face him. I found out that the fine was 11,500 and paid. I paid additional 1K for the gateman to open the gate and let me drive out. Government should help deal with the issue of touts among the real officials. The same officials move along with touts, who they settle daily. That’s what enables touts know how the real officials operate and sabotage government efforts. |
Alao046:Were you not in this country between December 2022 and March 2023? I wonder if some of you read upside down. |
There may be no way to beat it. Not too long ago, the FG moved against such certificates from the Republic of Benin. Sorry to say that you are carrying a mere piece of paper in your hands and not a certificate to take you anywhere in the country. You may have to start all over again, either in Nigeria or another country, who’s certificates are acknowledged here. |
Image123:Maybe you are pained from extreme hunger and you need the billionaire to rescue you with some food. |
Cherrybae:How could you see any crime when you have never been in an aircraft before? How could you see any crime when you do not know that tarmacs are prohibited areas? How can you see a crime, when you thought that KWAM was negotiating his transportation in a bus garage? How could you see a crime when you liken airports to bus garages, where agberos operate freely? You probably thought that he was asking for a reduction of the bus fare when he laid his hand on the aircraft? Or perhaps you thought that KWAM was asking the cost of the aircraft to enable him purchase it and sack the pilots. Abeg no dey disgrace yourself with these kinds of comments. Go and remove the suspension. Go and prove that the airline tampered with his “fundamental human rights”, if you know the meaning of those words. |
He would be in jail if he tried that in developed countries. That’s an act of terrorism. That’s what you see when certain citizens who have access to the President of the country, think that they act irresponsibly and get away with it. Charging KWAM to court would further show the seriousness of the government over such matters. As a respected person in the society, he should have controlled his emotions more in that aircraft. |
Would KWAM have dared in America, Europe, etc. That was more than enough to get him into prison. Note that Oshiomole escaped such Justice. |
benuejosh:Did you make your own constitution? Or you read the Nigerian constitution upside down? Which section of the constitution that you read disqualified GEJ? Tinubu has been in politics since the 80s. He was a Senator, a Governor, the leader of APC, with plenty of resources and supporters. Obi was little known until after 1999. He was a Governor in 2006 when BAT was in his final year as the Governor of Lagos state, grew his base and was termed an unserious person. Tinubu had the backing of the so called Buhari’s supporters and their imaginary 12m votes. When elections held in 2023, Tinubu secured only 37% of the votes nationwide with 8.9 million votes. Obi who was termed “nobody” and “a boy” came third with 6.7 million so called votes. Where was the disgrace please? Obi’s party defeated the ruling party in Abuja and Lagos with very clear margins. Where was the disgrace please. Na that pain of that Lagos defeat una never overcome. Even BAT recognizes that with Obi in the mix, he must not sleep. GEJ recognizes that with Obi on the ballot box, no time to sleep. Armchair analysts like you who would never look at issues dispassionately, would keep talking wah wah wah. No thinking! |
That’s exactly the point. Most citizens agree with the monetary compensation, especially as it brought joy to everyone’s faces. However, governments at all levels, FG, states and local governments should ensure that our communities better and safer than they are presently too. It was always the story that Nigeria is broke, but with what we see, the nation does not appear broke as claimed. |
With Otti’s performance and popularity in Abia state, it may be suicidal to defect to any party not supported by him. |
LagosOrigin:Not just that. He sort of gave himself away as having acted that way truly! Why did he resist when he was asked to handover the flask? That would have ended the matter, seeing that he is a well respected person. He probably acted arrogantly. Again, he failed to respond to the issue of standing in front of the aircraft’s front tyres. Did he do that or not? The pilot’s licence was suspended by NCAA and not Valuejet. If she’s not a good pilot, she’ll not be flying the aircraft. It’s simply a disciplinary procedure, as she breeched the rules. I am a fan of KWAM 1. My worry has to do with the similarity of the arrogance and impatience displayed by Oshiomole recently. Some of our VIPs, if they are not able to maintain some decorum, should either acquire their own planes, or force themselves to comply with simple rules at the airports. |
EvilMerodack:So funny. Is it the job of countries to pay sportspeople or the clubs that they represent? Or are you thinking that countries pay on monthly/weekly basis? Countries only pay when the sportspersons represent at occasions like this. Have you looked at the salaries of the American, Canadian, British, Australian military men, including other developed countries? Do you know how much is paid to retired soldiers. By the way, if they were not well remunerated, would their countries be as secured as they are today? It is true that countries offer monetary rewards to their victorious sports people, but how many of those countries have their economies in shambles like the Nigerian economy? How many are battling such level of terrorism, that is threatening to destroy the nation? Or are you not aware that huge swaths of lands in Nigeria are occupied by terrorists? How many inches of lands do terrorists claim in developed countries? If your military personnel are not well paid, how do you expect peace? Tell the leaders the honest truth and learn to hold them accountable. That’s what citizens of developed countries successfully did and continue to do. |
That’s what to expect when you have horrible leaders. They pay for substandard and drive powerful SUVs bought and fueled with your money, while watching you lament. Next time vote wisely. |
If they claim and agree that Tinubu transformed the country in two years, why do they question the ability of a more competent and accountable leader to do better in four years? |
Putindbutt:Go and sit down and stop and talking without reasoning properly. If you have allowed politicians to divide your country along ethnic lines, what now is your business if Ebonyi state chooses to go with Biafra or not? Or do the people of Ebonyi state share the same language or cultural affinity with your people? Are you the one to tell the people of the SE what’s happening with projects in the region? What do you know about their roads, past and present? Do you have an idea about the roads mentioned by Umahi? When you have never visited - neither will you ever visit the SE - how can you feel the pain that the people feel about the condition of their roads? PDP spent 16 years and nothing was achieved, going by your words. Do you need to be reminded that APC is going to the 11th year in power? Do you want to be reminded that Umahi was part of the PDP 16 years? Do you want be reminded that APC consists of past PDP members, who were there for the 16 years talked about? What’s the difference so far? |
So sad. So painful. A battle in those days when the late MKO wanted to marry her. May the family be comforted. |
Shameless man who did not realize that he was indicting his own government. This is not the first occurrence of flooding in Lekki. The raining season just kicked off and will linger until the end of November. They had the whole of last December to June this year to build treatment build plants. Members of the state and FG reside in Lekki, Ajah, Victoria Island and Ikoyi. They see and know the problem. They complain when they are not in power. When they get into power, they neglect the areas and when they are out of power, blame the next leadership. It is the same problem nationwide. Those who reside along the boundaries of Rivers Niger and Benue suffer more at this time. Lives are lost, the little remaining roads are destroyed and farmers lose a lot as either whole harvests are destroyed completely or partially. Release funds to fix the treatment plants and they would either emblezzle the funds or fix substandard equipments. Painfully, they do not want to make death penalty the punishment for embezzling public funds. By now many officials would have been on the other side and the remaining ones fear to loot funds. |
davygifted:Such talk is why young people are the way they are today. While without a job or known source of livelihood, you target 4m in USD, do remember that you are a time waster. While youths with meaningful jobs work hard and achieve, you live in illusion. The boy you laugh at as a vulcaniser, takes home 20k daily and you call him “common vulcaniser”. While you are busy wasting precious time, the vulcaniser purchases a piece of land land builds a house. One day you approach him in search of accomodation, after killing many years targeting 4m in dollars. Now that your colleague has found himself in hot soup, stop dreaming and get going. To you 4m is a huge amount. To a good farmer, it is easily achievable. Atiku Abubakar and Dangote are known among the biggest farmers in the country. Dey sleep there. |
Very shameful. You do not need to steal, rob, kill, make human or animal rituals to get wealthy. You call some people “poor farmers” not knowing that your so called “poor farmer” is wealthy from his farm. This harvest season, yam farmers will smile seriously to the bank. Some yams will go for between 6-8K farm gate price. Imagine harvesting five thousand tubers. What about potato farmers, ginger and garlic farmers? Is it not better to be a street cleaner than to spend the remaining days of your life in prison? The man or woman that you call a street cleaner will be better than you, with freedom and contentment. What about livestock farmers? Now his peace has been taken away. That surely would include his friends and family members that were benefiting from him. |
Babangidapikin:Always bitter, hateful and jealous. No marriage, no peace with her father, family and children. After being school mates, no good life. Bianca Ojukwu went far ahead of her. Thanks to aunty Kemi for reminding us. Bianca is not dragging age with her, except she wants to receive Mrs. Obiano’s style of slap. Bianca a beauty queen, remains one, peaceful life, good children, good husband, good father, good home, great career. That’s the difference. |
Tareq1105:Abi? Out of the last 24 years, APC has spent 11 years. So when you talk about “your past leaders that spent $16b”, do not forget to add APC leaders in that responsibility. In 11 years of leadership, what difference has APC made with electricity? |
seunmsg:No. He simply has to work to avoid being booted out. He knows that if he fails to perform, other more competent individuals free of corruption cases, are waiting on the wings on the request of decent Nigerians to make our country work. Meanwhile he promised to make electricity work in his first two years. As it stands, he’s already two years and three months into his first term, yet electricity continues to be a mirage. |
How are they on such bikes in that forest? They take so much risks to protect us. Thank you to them all. When will they get modern equipments please? While bandits and terrorists now use drones, we still talk about fighter aircrafts. When non state actors possess more advanced weapons than the armed forces of a nation, how can they ever be defeated? These men and women need plenty of funding please. |
Mrfixitt:That’s where you find them…in SA. Rather than tackle the wickedness of the whites against the black people, the same black SAs choose to attack and kill Nigerians. And the way it appears, the murderer may get away with it. I think the South African murder laws are quite loose, allowing many murderers to get away with their crimes. |
Alliswell248:Typical of a fellow who depends on others for a living. Continue depending on your sister and family members. |
BucketHat:Exactly. One wonders the sense in doling out such huge sums. Retired soldiers are out there protesting. Retired policemen are out there protesting. Our education and health sectors are in horrible situations. Politicians fly out of the country to attend to their health, whereas our hospitals are in horrible shapes. They fail to pay Doctors and nurses the right amounts to stop then from being poached by the same developed countries. The same politicians are attended to by Nigerian Doctors and nurses in foreign hospitals, using equipments that our governments fail to provide. Such huge amounts could have funded researches in medical science. The same politicians after they die abroad, are brought back in cargos to be buried in Nigeria. No one disputes rewarding those who have worked hard to earn. Our communities are no longer safe. Those in the NW, NE, NC, parts of the SE, SW and SS, who feel the pain of daily loses to terrorists, bandits and kidnappers daily cry out for better security in their communities. Whole villages have been vacated because of insecurity. Government can do better than this. While they deceitfully tell us that the country is broke and Nigerians are poor, where do they find such sums from to giveaway? |
Mabuggi88:With the way the dislike is going and people now agitating for separation, how does he think that his idea will happen? |
Alliswell248:And with the low salary, you expect better security nationwide, emergency lover of sportsmen and women? Why did you not include your own donation to them? Or did you not hear that individuals and organizations have been donating to them? |
opes:And the troops who daily defend Nigerians along with the same sports people should get a “sleeping call” right? With such low morale because of poor remunerations, how do you expect Nigerian to enjoy peace and security, when soldiers are poorly paid, yet sports people receive such huge amounts for winning competitions in a few days? |
livinbygrace:Na you suppose to collect the votes? When did the votes become an issue up you? I thought you people always maintained that our votes do not matter? |
Scamburster:Why is is not necessary? Is it not the truth my brother? |
