ProgrammingRe: Which Programming Language Should A Beginner Start With? by Elijahrona(m): 11:37am On Oct 02, 2019
You're getting it wrong. Programming is best learnt when you've got a purpose for it. Ask yourself why you want to learn programming. Do you want to make an app or a webpage or a program for a machine? You've got to be specific with why you're learning programming because different languages have their different purposes. For App, I suggest Java, Kotlin, JavaScript (using react native), etc. For webpage, I'd suggest JavaScript, CSS, HTML, etc or PHP.

To answer your question, HTML is the easiest to learn followed by CSS (my personal opinion though). I still stand that you know why/what you want to program.

(Some will say HTML CSS aren't languages though)

Seun:
Still waiting for links to the threads that people are complaining about. In my experience, it's better to deal with specifics.
Good evening sir. I must commend you for a great job so far. Instead of complaining, i am here to make suggestions:
1. A new section for sustainability should be created. Most people are interested in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), conservation and other scientific topics... We need a specific section.
2. Since Nairaland is unofficially the hub of Nigerian bloggers, you can come up with something that will connect all bloggers nationwide... You could open your own advertisement service (like AdSense) and pay bloggers to advertise for you (Nigerian businesses will appreciate). You could also open a blog to teach people how to blog and do other internet stuffs...
3. Nairaland should be upgraded. I mean the features. Upgrade it so it can support keyboard emojis and have a new appearance.

Thanks very much sir. I still lay emphasis on the first point.

where are the online animal right activists? Nigeria is the headquarters of hypocritical idiots
I am one of them... Did you read this part:
”he returned with the shovel and instead of hitting it on its head, he used the shovel to pin the snake to the ground and the snake retaliated, spat venom into his eyes and tried to escape”, the eyewitness said.
As you can see, what the snake did was part of retaliation (what you know as self defense)... If he had let the snake go or better still, didn't see it in the first place, there wouldn't be any need for "retaliation".

Please don't read another context into this... I am not defending the snake nor advocating that it shouldn't have been killed... I am simply stating why it did what it did.

Who are going to pay for the nigerian shop in south africa and who is going to bring them back to life dont qoute me if you dont have reasonable answer
1. No Nigerian life was lost
2. Those xenophobic videos we saw online happened in the previous xenophobic attack, not this one
3. Even if Nigerian lives and property got lost, it does not justify us to steal from the shops of our fellow Nigerians thinking that they're South African shops.
4. I end up by saying... An eye for an eye will blind the whole world. There are more matured ways to resolve this issue. Violence and looting aren't part of those ways because they'll only imply that we're no better than South Africans.

Sure am hopeful and optimistic on my dreams and goals but hope for this country no I don't. There is nothing to be hopeful in this country. When you hope on something you keep expecting more from it. My hope is on me my family my dreams and goals. We are on our own in this country the early we know the better. The country has failed. I'm happy you still believe in the country as for me I don't. There are two type of people that still believe in Nigeria

1. The ones that don't have source or financial capability to leave this country so they don't have choice than to accept and believe.

2. The ones that have everything but are ready to fight for the masses. This are the ones that really believe in Nigeria.

You should know that the government does not believe in this country it might sound stupid but that's the fact.

For me now is when I wake up I pray go out for the days hustle, always vigilant, after hustle get home as early as possible. Go out when necessary, spend on needs until, I get better chance of leaving the country. As of now we are our own pilot.

As of what you said starting business small and also starting without borrowing. I guess you are not into business. I would have love to break it down for you but it would be long epistle.

All in all let God keep blessing our hustle protect and guide us. As we continue to survive in this country.
Yhhh

You are funny . Is it collecting loan with high interest and starting up a little provision store. At the end of the day the business would crash because of too much credit from your customers (who are mainly salary earners been owe for 3 to 6 month salary).

My dear if Nigerian where not thinking and struggling without government help Nigeria would have been like Syria long time ago do you think an average Nigeria care about government. Why things are like this is because it is now worse. The little we have been doing for ourselves government have succeeded in killing it. As you can see crime has tripled. The only thinking that is really what it now, is living this country. This is the only one you can archive without government killing your dreams.
You're pessimistic, you have no hope for the country again. For me, I remain optimistic and hopeful... My positive mindedness and thoughts are enough to keep trying. You should try to remain hopeful too.

BTW you can always start a business without borrowing... Start as small as you can and build up. You must not start big or on a medium scale.

Votukpa:
I don't quite agree with you on your overriding point and here is why:

You blame the government for not inculcating the spirit of entrepreneurship in the youth and this is the reason why graduates are mostly unemployable in Nigeria.

Do you know what the word 'government' means?
Break it down;
Govern = rule or control or tame
Ment = mind, thoughts, thinking

If the entity you ascribe the responsibility to Inculcate innovation, growth and value creation (traits that are engendered in a atmosphere of a liberated and free mind) in the youth, you would be attempting to perform an impossible task- along the lines of sitting and standing simultaneously.

Education in Nigeria is governmental. It is mind controlled, or simply controlled. Ministry of Education. The Nigerian government still operates with vestiges of colonial framework of economic planning whicj has its educational objective to produce useful employees for a beuraucratic structure of production. In other words, entrepreneurship wasn't meant for the colony to imbibe. It was for the Masters to generate profit (from the colony/market).

Assess the objectives.

The objective of education in Nigeria is as described above. This is the reason why entrepreneurship training is taught after one gets out of uni and not during uni years. Admittedly, entrepreneurship is a spirit and, it like any other training that will prove effective in the future of any individual, it should be learned early and over time and not much later in life.

If Nigeria is to develop, it has to emphasize and reward value creation outside the educational system. It has to emphasize entrepreneurship education earlier on in lives of people (childhood). Will they do this? No. They won't.

It's not their their objective. Besides, too much money is being made from the status quo by the same governmental system.

Parents should train their children on entrepreneurship

Parents are responsible for the unemployability, self reliance and productivity of their children not the government.

Parents should Inculcate the thoughts and habits that engender and produce value creation abilities in their children, since their objective is for their kids to be self reliant and resourceful in the society. Every parent wants their child to prosper.

Train up your child in the WAY (entrepreneurship) that he should go and he won't depart from it later on in his life...

A bottleneck

This solution is idealistic, especially in the minds of many parents. They don't think their kids will prosper by building productive and enterprising skillsets from a young age. Why? They didn't have to do that. They had jobs waiting for them, based on their model of training and education. They are governmental so to speak and they can only teach their kids what they know- to be governmental. Go to school so you can get a job and make money.

We need a paradigm shift and it is already happeing.

Stop blaming the government

Teach parents to teach their kids today
Ok then... Change "the government" in the first paragraph of my previous comment to "everyone (both citizens and government"
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Reasons Why Most Nigerian Graduates Are Not Employable by Elijahrona(m): 8:59am On Aug 31, 2019
HeyCorleone:
How many people would become entrepreneurs? And is such a thing healthy for the economy?

Sometimes, obviously due to the malign milieu of the country, some of you forget the main duty of a Government. What is "the citizens shouldn't be reliant on the government for jobs"? That's a very careless statement. Why else do we have a government if it's not to provide for the citizen? An alarming 47% of graduates are unemployed and you're saying people should not depend on the government for jobs?

The government has failed, in all honesty. Look at European countries, and see how much the government provides job for people.

All this campaign about Entrepreneurship to me is rather useless. Let the government rather create more job opportunities. Real jobs, not N-Power nonsense. If everyone becomes an entrepreneur, who gains? And what kind of entrepreneur? Shoe making? Tailoring? That is what you need in 2019? Do you think the government can empower people in ICT, Robotics, and other relevant fields that dictate the future? A government that cant provide jobs.

We should stop giving the government a passmark, or forgiving their excesses. That's why people come out en masse to thank a Governor or senator for tarring 1km of road, or for erecting water tanks with no alternate source of power to pump water. That's why people sing praises when 1 block of classroom is constructed. Because, like you, they don't expect anything from government.
The government owes you a lot. Until we develop that mentality, things would not change. It's not welfare mentality, it's simply democracy.
Now that the government has failed and proven to be unreliable, you as a citizen why not think of what you can do without them?

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Reasons Why Most Nigerian Graduates Are Not Employable by Elijahrona(m): 8:35pm On Aug 30, 2019
So true... If the government can focus on inculcating the spirit of entrepreneurship into we the youths, there will be nothing like increase in unemployment anymore.

The government cannot employ everyone neither should the citizens be reliant on the government for jobs. Empower people to become entrepreneurs.

Not just that though... The environment should be favorable as well:
- good and safe road to transport goods
- source of constant (or almost-constant) electricity so operations can flow
- Rewards (in the form of support) to entrepreneurs doing well so they'll be eager to continue...

Well... Since the government are not doing these things yet (not that I know of), we can build ourselves and not just wait for a "government" to help us... Start with a small step till the dream becomes the reality.
