frosbel2: what does 'tucking in your shirt ' have to do with the gospel ?? I dunno how you would see it when your pastor/reverend comes to the pulpit with a sagged Jean and polo. The thing is, if you are going to be on a stage or perform a function, at least dress decently and tuck in, whether you are an official worker or not. It takes nothing from you. I remember in my 200-300level as a medical student when I was finding it hard to tuck in. But heh, i was aspirin to be a doctor then. Soon it became a part of me. Coming back home, my agemates and fellow male choir members would marvel that I tucked my shirts and wore my tie from home, instead of there in the church . I speak to fellow instrumentalists to dress properly. Some do, some don't. But heh, you make your character yourself. Remember, you would be addressed how you are dressed |

I felt so ashamed while reading this story from the beginning for the first time, can't believe the story-lines and grammars at the first chapter were so watery. seem to be getting better with every post. I assure u guys more entertaining plots, watch out for my LUCIFER's KEY will be more a more intresting thread. Can we conclude this story first before you bring up a new one? We don't like unfinished story. I got to see this story for the first time yesterday. Yes, the initial part wasn't cohesive and straight, with lots of contradicting statements. keepingmum: Pre-eclampsia is a VERY SERIOUS life threatening ailment that poses a significant risk to the life of mother and baby therefore should be attended to with urgency. Keeping a patient with Pre-eclampsia for more than 24hrs without treatment is tantamount to manslaughter! !! Most definitely negligence and in my world, you will not only loose your medical licence to practice you ll also be looking at a referral to the CPS for criminal charges Maternal mortality is very high in Nigeria and a large contributing factor is negligence and the itk/inability to listen to patients by doctors/nurses as well as the ability to learn from mistakes AND the stupid risks that doctors often take with patients lives Do you seriously think they kept a pre-eclamptic woman in a hospital 24 hours WITHOUT ANY FORM OF TREATMENT? |

Rheality: @OP ure very structural and analytical. But in In Efe voice; no vex oo OP. if na ur wife, sista or dota dis tin happen to, ur analysis for b like dis: 1. from d info provided, i tink d doctor(s), would hv abandoned d woman and ignored the husband in reprobation of his initial refusal to sign for CS (remember they r humans nd wld hv been angry at dis point). they'll b like: oga shebi we been tell u to sign u no gree. pls stop disturbing us we hv other patients to attend to. 2. Having observed d dangers of d hubby's refusal to sign, a professional doctor shld hv invited others like d deceased parents nd her parents in law to persuade d husband to do d needful or at least witness d extent of their effort. 3 We were told d woman died while being stretched out of the hospital. dont u tink there shld hv been a doctor accompanying dis woman from the moment she got to the stretcher all thru to the next point of medical attention? apparently there was no doctor around to do dat. with dis analysis, i also sense the doctors gave up on dis woman at some point. 4. we all know doctors hv a way of understanding the criticality of their patients medical conditions for which dey could give a range of period a patient can survive if a certain condition is not met. If dat is the case here, why didn't d doctors advice as appropriate?
Nigerian Doctors and Lawyers are d same kind of pple. Always using professional languages to cover up evil and circumvent real situations.
OP u can twist or tweak it the way u want but dont forget Nigerians are about the most intelligent pple on earth irrespective of our damn leadership challenges.
Just very soon, we will see hw it pans out.
RIP Ma. 1)The doctor has no business calling the patient relative to come. His only duty is to the patient. If patient is not in the position to give consent, the buck stops at his husband, or the next of kin available. Once, the person declines, it stops at that. It is left for the person and the house to put him in order. 2)The doctor is not expected to follow the patient to the point of referral. It is the job of paramedics or a nurse. Remember, there are other patients to care for, and emergencies that could occur. 3)For your other prejudices against medical personnel, I won't respond, but allow you to wallow very well in your ignorance. Thank you. Do have a wonderful day |

BeautyBaebee: Thank God for making this year's Jamb a success for me. I wrote last year, read, prepared lyk no tomorrow but alas, they manipulated the results and gave me 192. I was so downcast as my choice of school cut off was/is 200.
This year, I prepared less. in my mind, I was like last year book still dey my head, I just revised my books on the day of exam before going to write but I prayed to God for a good result, I prayed that Prof Ishaq should just score students according to what they wrote, I Prayed against any manipulation from any angle.
Initially, this year's jamb stress gave me a bad impression, from registration to writing the exam. I was thinking everything will turn out like last year that they toyed with everything. to further increase my fears, I did not see anybody with good results, nlproblemchild was wailing on Nairaland, my friends checked theirs, they all scored below 200. naso my heart jumped inside my mouth.
But alas I summoned courage to check mine and saw 234. soo happy!
Lord! it is not by my power or might but by your will. Thank you Jesus, I bless your name. Next step is admission, I shall be favoured.
fellow Jambites, share your results. I pray we all make it. Congratulations. But I pray that you stop this 'they manipulated my result'. Now you scored a high score, who manipulated it? You? Simply say I scored, not they gave me or it was manipulated. I hope you secure a admission and do well in school |

It was really an interesting piece. You left me spellbound. I would like to point out some few things I hope you could correct in your next work, which I will be eagerly waiting for. 1)Work on the tenses. 2)You saturate your paragraph with so many characters and pronouns that it is difficult at times, keeping up and identifying who is speaking. 3)To forestall above, more paragraph would be better, or you find another way to work around it. As a doctor, , I will say that they didn't stab 'her retroperitoneal organ'. ' means behind. Retroperitoneal organs here would include the ascending, descending colon, kidneys, pancrease, ureters, rectum, which I don't think you mean. Not true. Some of the good doctors due to family entrapment decide to stay rather than travel. Some stayed because of financial difficulties, as most of those foreign exams don't come cheap, and before they know it, they had already gone far in residency training here, and don't want to leave the country again.
So, it's not as straight forward as you made it look. Registering for the Kaplan Step 1 preparation, which I am doing currently takes $12000. I haven't even included accommodation, flight tickets and then the subsequent Step 2 courses or the exam fee proper. But by the grace of God, come next two years March, I would be relaxing in relieve at securing a residency. There are a whole lot why the ones staying are staying. When I was starting my HJ, my SR told me to make active plans to leave. I didn't want to leave this shores initially, but after practicing for sometime, I really saw the need. What do you think when virtually all of your seniors tell you 'leave, leave, leave now while you can'? More than 50% of doctors in this country between 25-40 would leave in the next boat, not even plain, if they can. |

Chai make we dey fear Nigeria Hospital be that ooo.
Na the ones wey no pass remain. Hahaha. On a serious note, EVERY doctor is way above average, to have been able to become a doctor. The ones who couldn't, fell along the wayside in medical school. The exams postgraduate, is designed to make you fail in Nigeria. Take for example, the last national surgery primaries of which more than a thousand took, less than 20 or so passed. Why? Simply that they have a rubbish quota system. Let's not even discuss residency or the rubbish working environment or dreadful pay. I always laugh at you guys when you deride doctors at every opportunity on nairaland. By the grace of God, this mass exodus should not stop soon so you will feel what we feel, then I guess you will sing a different song. By the grace of God, I should also leave this country before next month runs out. When I do, I am never setting foot to practice on this country till possibly next 20-30 years. Virtually all my close friends are making active effort to leave. I guess the unlucky ones would be the females, especially those married to non-doctors. The situation is so bad that even Senior Registrars and Consultants are leaving. Oya Come Make We Go!!!!! (In 2baba's voice) |
