Police arrested you and collected your phone, a text message came in saying “Abeg if u dey come, buy one AK-47 and 4 Bullets make we take do night things” how do you explain to the police that your friend meant a vodka (Ak-47) and 4 Energy drinks. To make matters worse, your friend name is ROBERT and you saved it as ROB-1 in your phone, what will you do to convince the Nigeria Policemen.

The last time I bought on dealsmachine, I only had d dollar option for payment. Now, there is Naira in the accepted currency for payment and the rates are good. Bit I am still scared of trying to buy to avoid my bank from playing a fast one on me. Has anybody made my observation? Anybody attempted d naira payment?

When I was in ND 2, I wrote JAMB again to study medicine. Many of my classmates then attempted to discourage me because I was planning on starting from year one again. Initially I had entered SLT to use it for direct entry, but thank for my family and big cousin who encouraged me to pursue my dreams irrespective of time. I got admitted into medicine immediately I finished my ND. I studied in UNIZIK. Started from year one till d end. No regrets whatsoever...

I always wanted to be a medical doctor since when i was young,. In ss1 i started in sciences but due to unseriousness and peer influence , i changed to art and wrote waec in arts... I failed.. Den i changed to commercial.. Studied it for like a year and wrote waec again, this time i passed, but my passion for medicine was still very much alive.. I wanted to sacrifice another year to write waec for medicine. But time was against me, I eventually wrote post Utme for economics, didn't reach the cutoff and i had to waste another year to write jamb and post jamb again... I picked economics for the second time and I was scared that they wouldn't pick me.... So i opted for a change of course form and read about all the courses i could do with my subject combination... Voila.. I saw psychology and i finally opted for psychology.... Gained admission.. And currently I'm in 300l, hoping to further my studies in neuropsych after i graduate .. Although i still have undying passion for medicine. But there's this proverb which says of you don't do what you like, like what you do..... I hope this serves as a lesson to the upcoming generation... Never let anything or anyone influence your decision to choose your career..

If you so much love medicine, you can study hard and switch departments. I left secondary school 2005, went to maritime academy, did a national diploma in SLT in a polytechnic before I studied medicine. Today, I am a doctor. I don't want to live a life filled with regrets. It took me time, yes, but I have entered the field of my choice.

Oh dear....those pre-clinical experiences nobi hereoo. Entering medicine as best 3rd student that year n with all confidence approaching bch first quiz lol....write exam...result released everyone in d class failed literally. I got 33/100 n yet I was among the top. Had to go back to drawing table...but the truth till today I avoid bch wella if i can even in the usmle step 1 n d primaries lol. Drop my own mic another person carry.

When I was doing my ND back in 2007, I never got a C then, lowest was BC. I graduated in 2009 with an upper credit. I had never failed till I entered my 200 level medicine. For the first time in my life, I said "this is not my score" when I saw my first BCH result of 43/100. Chaiii. That result fall my hand wella, but na only 13 people or so pass am shaa. I learnt my own pattern of reading by force and became consistent. Only failed once in a quiz during my clinical years. Graduated among the BGS in my set. Today, I am a doctor.

Once in a while, you run into folks that have passion for their profession.

Your work require empathy so if it is to much to give then why are you guys in it?

Depends on what you mean by attitude. I speak for myself now. I ensure that I give my patient time and attention. However, if it is a clinic or AnE where you have a lot of patients to attend, I can't give you all my time cos I have others and can't divide myself. Do you know my working conditions before you ask? Do you know if we are understaffed? What about the 5k hazard fee in the face of Ebola/Lassa fever?
I urge you not to base ur assumption from a one-sided story.

What do we say about the attitude of the nurse who kept on eating while a patient was battling with death. Mum is a nurse and she tells me the attitude of nurses and doctors. I feel that they are used to seeing people die so its no big deal to them?

There is no way that there would not be sutures in the hospital. Only that Nylon 2 was not available in the theatre at that moment. There are more than 10 suture types, and each with atleast 15 sizes. One suture type and size can be used for another, depending on the scenario. Using nylon 2 for 3 being the least. At the risk of waiting, the desired suture type and aize can always be sourced in the theater pharmacy or general hospital pharmacy.
You don't have to be emotional as a doctor or nurse, elae you won't do ur job well. What is required of you is empthaty..

Guy,people don't know the volume of work being done in the hospital and the sacrifices being made.They don't know how you as the doctor is the one donating blood or getting your friends to do that.They don't know how you have to dip your hands in your pocket to provide for these patients.

As in eh. As a course representative in school, I can't remember the number of times I have practically dragged my classmates to donate blood FREE OF CHARGE, not even the ones I have done.
People are always quick to rise and villify the medical personnel. Qe aren't saints but we don not merit the misdirected insult. I have had cause to pay and stand as a surety for an accident victim till je can come back and pay, without my Boss knowing.
