I don't know exactly why you're so pained to read inbetween the lines accurately. And mind you, I didn't call you a jerk Negro, I only advised you exempt yourself from being one since you obviously type out of proportion. Your bragging on finishing ABU before me to make an ostentatious pretence gives me more reason to assert to the fact you are so empty upstairs. (Sorry if that's harsh, but it's the truth)...You're probably one of those roaming the street boasting they finished from ABU and expect everything to come in a platter of gold.
And also I see no reason why you should be reading meanings to what I typed, because I apparently didn't generalise on all Hausas. I have very intelligent and sound minded ones as friends. Even in my office, I've got one or two colleagues who are hausas; we relate well.
Instead I was sighting instances where the so called Quota System had denied those who scored 300+ admission to study for instance Law, but instead give them courses like Archeology, Social studies Education or even Theatre and Performing Art. And that's if they're lucky enough.
So please let's be guided here and don't use abusive words on me because its usage isn't restricted to anyone.
Ignorance is bliss, keep waddling in your myopia.
And who goes about calling people negros and jerks to make an intellectual argument, it shows ur upbringing. Bye

And some people were attributing it to Islam, calling it Islamic agenda.

Many began to spite the school, calling it all sorts of derogatory names, with Islam in the picture.

WaLlohi, the minds of many of these people are dark and evil, the Muslims have just become too weak to expose them.

Indeed, it's the truth what Allaah said:

“Never will the Jews nor the Christians be
pleased with you (O Muhammad) till you follow their religion"

It's Islamophobia that will kill some people.

Did a story not come up one time of Covenant university rejecting admission to one Muslim guy in a similar fashion like this?

Did anyone shout Christianization?

When a Muslim does something, they attribute it to Islam. If it's the other way round, you won't hear such a thing coming from us.

Why are you all so deeply obsessed with Islam if you do not fear for its greatness and try to talk it down or criticize it at any given chance?

The reality is that many of these people are just insincere, sick-minded hypocrites!

Imes is coming! Imes is coming! The world should prepare. angry

The reality of your true selves, how evil your hearts are actually and how foolish your arguments and philosophies are will soon be exposed to the world when Imes comes.

All of you should continue! angry Imes will be making you all famous; yes, the whole will know you all for your evil and hypocritical ways.

By the time Imes will come, humiliation will be your companion. humiliation will be your nick names. You will all wine and dine with humiliation unless you repent and turn towards truth.

When Imes comes, it will be the end of your era and the beginning of a new one.

When Imes comes, it will be game over for many of you hypocritical lots

Imes is coming, You should all get prepared! angry

And you are free to wail and attack me on mention. grin That's your way and it will only make your humiliation more interesting when Imes eventually shows up. grin

Imes, we await your coming grin cheesy
See it oh, this is what we were trying so hard to correct yesterday. Nigerians and hasty conclusions.
Why not try to find out the reason for denying her admission b4 pasting it on social media for everyone to judge. Would it have been better they sidelined others above her to appear fair.
To the young girl in question, if you are privileged to read this, you have what it takes to be in MEDICINE no doubt, but some of the best drs u see today didn't make it at a blow, it's a tough competition. Don't give up, best of luck.

You want to compare the Yorubas and Hausas in spoken English?. Don't be a jerk. And mind you, I never said the Quota system wasn't applied in the south too, I personally feel it shouldn't serve as a criteria for admitting students into the University. So next time, read thoroughly before quoting.
You are the silly jack here bringing ethnicity into trivial things like spoken English. What department did u finish from that u know all the hausas can't speak English like the yorubas?
Boy sit your ass down several miles away. I finished from ABU b4 u ever thought of getting to university and had the opportunity to interact with the best intellects from students to lecturers, and have traveled round the north and south yl u sit in ur cocoon thinking which tribe is superior in English.
While you were making your point about quota system, of which is the reason u got admission in d 1st place, u can do that without being condescending on any tribe.
I grew up, did my Primary and secondary education in the south west and i can tell u that u get bad english everywhere irrespective of tribe. It's a common thought over there tha a 'mola' or 'abokis' (a derogatory name) can't be better intelligent wise.

ComradeShegs:
I've said this countless times, this quota system isn't helping matters in any way, because it invariably adores mediocrity at the expense of meritocracy. Myself and my sisters being Christians from Oyo state were fortunate enough to gain admission in ABU. My elder sis read Mathematics, I just finished this year with a degree in Political Science & International Studies and my immediate younger sister is currently reading Business Educ moving to her second year. We all applied ones...

While in school, you'll meet “abokis” who can't construct a correct sentence in 400L. grin Infact, what usually helps some of them is cramming. “Ma broda, Hausa sabi cram for Africa grin”. But tell them to engage in a verbal reasoning, na there you don spoil everything.

If you confront them on the marginalisation of southerners in securing admission, they start bringing up the quota system and how it's also difficult for northerners to gain admission down south, even though I strongly feel Federal institutions shouldnt be tied to it. It can be understood if such system is practiced in State owned institutions.
It's the same or even worse down south too, how many hausas do u see in southern universities, probably non. I'm not even hausa to start with, i had enough experience in the south west whete u only get admitted into courses like medicine based on 'leg'. I put it to u today, apply for medicine in ABU be the overall best and see if they won't admit you, can this be said of all other universities. Pls stop making jest of people based on whether they can converse with u in good English or not, u find this everywhere in the country, is it even the yorubas you want to talk about.

It's sad really that the young lady didn't get admitted to study the course of her dreams. But what's even more saddening is reading responses from those who have no idea how A.B.U works to use this opportunity to expose their preconceived ethno-religious biases.

There's no perfect university anywhere on earth but it's also not a hidden fact that A.B.U is the most cosmopolitan public university in Nigeria.
Never mind it's only those that went through the system that will know, all other things are hearsays. During my time 10yrs ago when jamb is not computer based my aggregate was 286 after post ume. Then 300+ in jamb aren't that common compared to this era where some average student score 300+. NB the admission, atleast the 1st batch which was about 70%+ of the admission was based on merit.

Lol. Over 30 people from her state scored higher than her. ABU admission policy is based on states. They pick at least one person from each state in every department. And if you are not from the catchment area and supposedly there are people who scored higher from your state, you may be denied admission.
Thank you o, people dont even know what they are saying, this is MEDICINE o where the bests of the best meet. Y'all will be shocked that there is someone from her region with score higher than hers. No doubt the girl is good and deserves something good, but the score that looks unattainable to u people is a common occurrence in medicine. Except if ABU has changed, there is always room for merit, then another factor is catchment area, and all in all there is fairness. Her average score if post utme and jamb are added is 288 is a very good score but i bet u there are score on average of above 300 that apply for same course from her state, if not she would have gotten. Don't forget the slots are so limited that in some states u only have 1 candidate taken, ofcourse has to be the best.
I'm really sorry for her predicament, but don't be so hasty in passing justice without indepth knowledge of what happened. The VC wouldn't even flinch cos he know he would win if u people sue him.

dawnomike:
1 - Tightly tie the upper region and lower region of the bite wit a rope to reduce the venom flow into the blood stream...

2 - Cut open the bite areawit a knife or blade and try to such out d venom

3 - place a cut of onions on d region.

NB: Do all d above while rushing the victim to the hospital
This is the worst advice given with so much confidence. If u tie a bite site u are only making it worse as there would be high tissue concentration of venom around bite site and subsequently irreversible tissue damage. And the onions is it to garnish the venom? And cutting open bite site with knife will will further worsen it cos no way u are going to remove venom in circulation by bleeding. The venom travels fast following a bite in seconds, so cutting open will not change anything.
Steps to take is to
Re-assure the victim not to panic, as anxiety increases heart rate and venom circulation.
If possible immobilize the affected part to slow down blood flow.
Rush as fast as possible to the nearest facility with antivenom.

nuclear power is the safest, what causes the disaster are human errors trying to experiment, other forms of power produces green house gases which in turn destroys the ozone layer and the sun rays directly hits us giving us cancer, they even cause acid rains which is detrimental to our health.
Also the nuclear power is easier to operate than other forms of power.
It also gives a stable and predictable power supply than the rest. Hydro electricity is not much, wind and sun can't even boast of 24hrs power supply.
Nuclear is so efficient and important that it alone accounts for 30% of the world power supply.
It produces few wastes than the rest.
This is what a growing population like Nigeria needs
Protesting against it is like protesting that we shouldn't av air ports because plane crash can kill 100 persons even if they tell you it is the safest means of transportation.
Face ur fear bro, we are going nuclear.
Merry Xmas in advance
There you go, the human error, how can we guarantee this in a country still battling with basic human problems. High precision is needed to keep the reactors at bay in order to prevent any form of nuclear accident. In case where such happens, do we have the neccessary plan on ground to minimize damage, don't forget it happened even in countries with the best nuclear scientists and human resources. This is more practical than you think bro, this is not about theory, our country is not ready for this. Green house effect is still learning where a nuclear accident occurs.

it is actually the cleanest and safest since it cause no harm to our ecosystem.
But my fear is Nigerians, one day Dangote truck will just run into it and the next thing is history.
Do you really no what nuclear power station is?
Even in advanced countries there's a lot of debate on their safety. A single flaw in the process can wipe a whole nation not to talk of the long term residual effects. You should look up Chernobyl to have an idea. Nuclear disasters when they occur are not just hazardous to the environment but all forms of life.

I don't usually do this, but for the sake of sanity i think everyone has a rile to play.
Having followed the thread for sometimes,i must say there are a lot of great minds here.
OGG is one of a kind, among the few selfless individuals we have in the country. I always like his approach and maturity in certain instances, but if u allow anger to creep in, all the great qualities can be destroyed in a minute. I believe it takes a lot of serious work to analyze and dissect a coy and present the value the way u see it for everyone to benefit, even when u think/know u've hit a jackpot.
On the other hand, Loco is not also a bad guy. Infact, from the little i know of him, i see him as someone who doesn't know how to conceal his emotion when he is on his game. Sometimes i even fear for his excitement, from his time in transcorp, how he believed in it and how he suddenly jumped out. In my View, I think he is some one who has had his fair share of loss in the market (ofcourse which is normal in business) that now finds it difficult to stay for a long time. I don't think he meant any harm whichever way.
I really dont know why there was conflict here, let's learn to be tolerant, be silent when other's opinion didn't sit well with us, or correct them diplomatically if need be, i believe we are all adults.
With that said, please let's sheath our swords and be each other's keeper as much as we could. The most important thing is to make money, whichever method, everyone is important in the ASI.
God bless all.

EducationRe: Should I Apply For Medicine Considering My Age? by EMDIEY: 12:51pm On Nov 02, 2019
[quote author=isgombe post=83655968]Good afternoon my people.
I am currently 25years old and have A BSc. degree in physiology. I have passion for medicine an i wanted to re-apply, though the school that i want (is in my state) is partially accredited by MDCN, but they have final year student.

The reason i wanted to apply for the school is that i need to open a shop that i can be running my business and also.

Please I need your view considering my age? is it okay for me to start all over again from 100level or should i apply for DE in different state?

Well 25 is never late, especially if you are passionate as u said, but the reality is that MEDICINE is very demanding and can not be mixed with anything else. If u have someone trustworthy to run the business for u, good.
By accreditation from ur name i believe u mean GSU, i don't know what going on now but i believe by noe them prof kalaye and El nafaty should be pushing for the accreditation, cos it's long overdue. All the best.

Don't mind them that's how they keep instigating false tribalistic hateful sentiments into people. Zaria that I know, is one of the most peaceful and tolerant part of kd, with cultural diversity and multi ethnic presence. Contrary to the fear usually portrayed on madia about the north, from my experience if u respect and conduct yourself well the hausas will accord you your due respect.
To the op, the 1st thing u should learn, if u want to go far in this life, irrespective of the geopolitical zone u find yourself is to be conscious of your environment, the people, behaviour, in short the culture. I believe u were over enthusiastic to deliver stuffs, let the students feel u are hot. In as much as u tried in explaining things it will be unwise to bring controversial issues like LGBT into discussion in the classroom, especially to secondary school students who are yet to be able to sieve rights from wrong. I can bet it with u some of those parents themselves know nothing about LGBT, u can imagine the kind of confusion it will generate in their community when 1, 2 or more children come home and introduce a very strange topic.
Their coming to the school is not to come and lynch u, common people are not that barbaric, it's to come and question the school authority about what they are teaching their wards, and which i believe they have right to. See ehn, if u stick to the rules and stay within the Curriculum, unlike people are telling u, the parents are going to respect u because they have confirmed that u were naive, afterall who LGBT epp.

Did you loss anything?
No not really in actial sense of 'loss', of course u are not going to get exactly ur original capital, except if u didn't receive ur discounted interest upfront.
What u loose is the interest for the months u are not able to complete due to liquidation, which u must have received upfront. This amount will be subtracted from the main capital.
So what u will receive will be slightly less than what u invested. But if u do the maths adding ur upfront interest to your liquidated capital, u will see that u actually made some profit.
I hope this helps.

hello, distinguished investors

I want to liquidate my t-bills, does anyone know how long it will take. My account officer at gtbank said it takes a long time because t-bills are difficult to liquidate.

Any useful insight is appreciated.
It doesn't take long, not supposed to take more than 3- 5 days, because people bid everyday.the issue is that most of the bank officers know little or nothing about tbill, or they are just too lazy to initiate the process, which usually make them give u false information.
I once requested for liquidation of my tbillz, the customer care lady went to inquire and came back to tell me that tbill can't be liquidated until it drops at maturity. I simply told her it's news to me , as it's not my 1st time of doing so (just a format not 2 act naive, as it was my 1st time grin)
On realizing this she looked confused, went to make more enquiry, after which they ask me to make a written request, which i did.
After 72hrs i didn't get any message 4rm them, i mailed
Their customer care,i got a response immediately., and was credited on the 5th day.
