Please is it possible to get GA position in your department without writing GRE or TOFEL?
Yes, it is possible to get a GA without GRE, because it was waived for Spring 21/Fall21, but for TOEFL, I don't know. I don't think TOEFL was waived.
But I will advise that you take TOEFL, at least.
Thanks

Good evening.
Please guys, I have a question .
After been denied visa at the Lagos consulate (my first attempt), if I decide to schedule an interview at Abuja Embassy for the second attempt ,will the embassy in Abuja have details about the former DS160 I submitted to the Lagos embassy?
Yes, the Abuja VO will have all details in the DS, and also the details of your previous interview at Lagos Consulate

Anyone with Visa approved in the past week and passport not ready for pick up yet? I saw that @EfTee14 had the same issue for over 6 Business days and the passport isn't ready for pick up still... I had mine approved Jan 4th and still not ready as of today when I checked with DHL in Victoria Island.

I had mine on the 5th, Tuesday, and it was ready on Thursday afternoon.

Congratulations to you.
My wife with kids were denied at Abuja today.
The experience with black VO is unimaginable.
We thank God and the Gurus in the house for the journey to this stage.

To others who were denied too, tomorrow is another day. Keep forging ahead.

I am so sorry to hear this.

I thought it was only the white VO today.

Two kids (boy and a girl, I guess around 7-8yrs old). If so, I think I saw them, but I did mine before them.

They can refire again.

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning Officer, trust you are good?
VO: I am good. Thank you. Please pass me your i-20 and passport
Me: I did.
VO: what are you going to do at Georgia state University?
Me: I am going to Georgia state university for my master's degree in Biology with focus on Environmental Biology.
VO: Why are you going to Georgia, do you have a family there?
Me: I chose GSU because they offer me a very generous and amazing scholarship in form... ( VO cut in, Yes I can see it). I jumped to my second point! GSU has s very flexible and robust curriculum with great research output and activity that perfectly fit my career prospect( the prospect didn't want to come out but I had to force it out) as an Environmentalist and a Biomedical scientist.
I was also passionate about the research ongoing in Prof Chin lab (but at this time, the VO was interrupted for few seconds by one Lady Lady. So I had the VO telling the Lady to wait a bit so he could finish up with this gentleman ( that's me). At this time, I took deep breath and organised my thoughts for the next question.
VO: What do you do?
Me: I am a Civil Servant, and I work with the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.
VO: What exactly did you do?
Me: I told him how I was so the safety coordinator, and how I ensure no employee catch COVID. Just my job description in my DS. (VO cut in.. That's perfect) but I wanted to keep talking but he had already given me the white paper, so I kept shut
VO: He gave me the paper and said those words I didn't bother to hear.

This looks so long but it didn't last one minute. .

I talk so fast, so I delivered those words pretty fast.

Hi cane berry/ gurus in the house, pls I need some clarifications regarding filling new DS 160 because of change of interview place from Lagos to Abuja.

I initially filled DS 160 to attend interview at Lagos but due to no closer available date, I rescheduled to Abuja. I still observed my current DS160 for the appointment is still having Lagos but I am not sure if I need to change it since same DS 160 is used for MRV fee and current appointment.

My interview date is Tuesday (about 2days). Do I/can I still filled another DS160 for this appointment without scattering things?

Appreciate your timely response.

Wait!
You can't submit a new DS within 72 hours of your interview! So, don't fill another one.

You are good to go. When you get to Abuja on Tuesday, your DS could be retrieved from Lagos!

In the CGI tone " You do not need to fill a new DS form if you want to change Location within a country ".

Meanwhile, I will advise you call the CGI Gus tomorrow to relay your worries , and I am sure you would be advised accordingly!

Please has anyone had their interview days for nextweek being rescheduled to first week of January? I just got a mail and my interview was shifted from 28 December to 5 January and I'm wondering why?

[Hello I also have my interview date slated about this same date as yours, but I didn't get any reshedule email from the Consulate. Just to be sure, which email address did you receive the reshedule notice by? So I can use it to run a search on my personal email. I'll really appreciate. Thanks.]

Kindly check your dashboard if you got a new date. 28th of December is a Public Holiday in Nigeria, so the Embassy is not supposed to open that day.

Same here too for Abuja appointment. I called to find out what happened and was told the embassy rescheduled the appointments due to rising numbers of corona cases.

Very likely the embassy will work very light or shutdown next week.

We can only pray and hope no further reschedule. The inconvenience and additional expenses are mounting. I have to reschedule already booked flights.

The date is also very close to class resumption.

There is public holiday next week Monday, I think that's the main reason why it was rescheduled.

Thanks you.
He has paid another MRV, chose abuja and applied for emergency appointment and saw earliest available date to be 28th of December.

Oh. That's great.
When did he apply for the emergency? And when was it approved?

I also applied for an emergency since Tuesday morning, and yet to get a feedback from them.

Hi guys..
I have a friend whose interview was rescheduled to 15 of Jan. Can he cancel his appointment and still use the same MRV to get early date either in Lagos or abuja.
If it's abuja how does he goes about it as he has initially filled Lagos for the MRV payment.

Pls I need urgent response..
Scholars in the house pls help a friend who could lose his full funding if he doesn't get his interview done sooner.
Thanks.

If he hasn't cancelled before, Yes, he can use same MRV for Abuja. More so, he doesn't necessarily have to fill another DS form. His form would be retrieved when he gets to Abuja. As regard earlier date in Abuja or lagos, no one can give an answer to that. Your friend should keep checking his dashboard. Although if he still has emergency option, he could use it and possibility of getting an earlier date in Abuja is KINDA high than Lagos. If he has used his emergency request, then he needs to get another MRV and apply for emergency

I applied for an emergency visa appointment on 2nd December and it was approved yet I was stuck on January 25th. So I sent an email and called the customer service at Lagos US embassy. They said the date was filled but I should keep checking maybe a date may arise. so each day I check in the morning, afternoon and midnite until I reach the daily maximum. 2 days ago in the afternoon 3 dates in December popped up. 11th 16th and 18th I think so I quickly choose 11th December. so my advice is if your emergency request was approved keep checking to reschedule. yes, u will see group size larger in current location but keep refreshing at different times of the day. You may be lucky to see December date.

Someone here said there is a hotel at the federal civil club at obalende. Please how much is it? Is it very close to the Us embassy?

The same 11th December they claimed they won't be interviewing, and had to rescheduled appointments to January. This Lagos consulate is just unpredictable.

I will agree with you. In the process of getting a closer date in December after normal appointments and denied emergency appointment, I paid another MRV and tried Abuja. Only to end with a date outside after class resumption.

After exhausting the no of schedules,December Dates were released.

If you decided to pay another MRV, you need bit of calculations and God’s favour to get desired date.

I tire for them. The case require chilling to avoid hypertension

When you paid for another MRV and chose Abuja, you should have requested for an emergency appointment! Or did you and still got such date?

Good morning house,
Pls I want to apply for Student Visa but I'm kind of confused. I graduated with 2.62 CGPA as an Undergraduate from Architecture department and I'm planning of applying for Diploma Course because of my CGPA. Pls I'll like to ask the following questions:
1. Which school is best for me to apply to that will surely offer me admission
2. How soon can I get admission and is it possible for me to still apply for Spring Admission
NOTE: I have sponsor that will carter for my study throughout my stay in US.

First of all, you need to calm down, and prepare well. The journey no be rush rush own oo.

Moving forward, I will advise you evaluate your transcript via WES, you might be lucky to get a boost in your GPA. In addition, Spring 2021 seems to be late considering you are new in the process and the level of preparation you need to put in.

After you have evaluated your transcript, then the GPA would determine the schools you would apply. This also depends on the program you want to apply to, I mean your field of study.

If I were you, I would convince the admission committee by taking GRE and acing it exceptionally. Will also advise you take TOEFL. You might want to argue that most schools are waiving GRE for Fall 2021 applicants, however, since you have a low GPA, you need to stand out in something, and GRE coul be the magical pointer to your profile.

Fall 2021 should be your target, and not Spring.

With all my story, what are the steps needed
1) Evaluate your result using WES. Google more on that or visit www.wes.org
2) take couple of months to prepare for GRE and TOEFL, and ace them very well
3) Then, begin to google for schools that align with your program, course of study and profile
4) Then mail GCs, not compulsory though, of your programs and ask specific questions that relate to the program and your profile.
5) You will need to keep some dollars to pay application fees. You might be lucky, some schools might have app fee waiver. So ask, and it shall be given.

The most important thing here is that NEVER RUSH.

My ogas will add other things.

There’s a chance that the reason for the postponements of interviews slated for this week were due to the protests happening all over the country

No protest anywhere. What they keep giving as excuse is " Due to the current situation ". So, I guess there were overwhelmed, and they needed to strictly adhere to the COVID rules guiding Nigeria and the US.

why did you say so please?

I read here that Wes is slow and much more expensive that is why I opted for ECE however, I just found out that ECE reports reduces GPA.
I just want to be sure cos I want to apply before the end of tomorrow.

Please I need sincere reviews.

Na the reduction be the issue. I don't know how WES does it but the GPA is relatively higher compare to ECE.

WES takes time, Yes! Couple of blame goes to our universities here.
