hannydarl: Ok let's say the driver was stupid, did he deserves to pay the ultimate price? In future if your child let's say, foolishly drags his steering with latsma official should they also kill him?Hey lady, Your evil wishes for me will return to you. Mark my word. Was it murder or manslaughter? It's an unfortunate incident, the killers must be tried, to set precedence to the overzealous ones, but i doubt if the killer set to kill him. One of the lastma officers was also accidentally ran over by a commercial bus driver in a separate incident last month. That is why i am advocating for checks and balances in the operation of LASTMA. We have heard only a side of the story, from the bus conductor BTW. |
BodyKiss: How about taking down the vehicle number and impound it later? It's reality sad how low we value lives in this country. You are not far from the truth !, but our records system in the country is wacked, maybe with the new plate number system, such step can be more efficient and effective. |
greall1: Sir, you are out of point,Are you encouraging what the Last did?I am not in anyway encouraging what happened, those guys must be fished out and prosecuted. When two adults are involved in a brawl, unfortunate incidents like this can happen. I have heard cases of two people involved in a fight, a simple push from one to the other, results to a manslaughter. |
Welder: @ all, Lastma does not have the right to arrest anyone. Its not in their statute, the most they can do is to impound you, possibly take a picture of the erring driver and get a policeman to institute the arrest. What is the meaning of "impound you " It is easier said than done my bro. They wanted to seize his vehicle (Lastma could be right or wrong), but he resisted, it is an unfortunate incident Lagos is not london, where you take pictures of an offender and fish him/her out at the snap of a finger. Those Lastma guys need to be armed with a disabling weapon e.g tasers or rubber bullets. Lastma also need a new re-orientation to treat motorists with greater respect, as respect is reciprocal. |
He said Popoola, 54, was tussling for the steering with the LASTMA official, who resorted to using themetallic head of the seat belt to hit the driver’s head in an attemptto forcibly take over the bus.it is easy to criticize, May the soul of the driver RIP, but why evade arrest from a law enforcement agency ?, can he do that with a police man ?. Those LASTMA take laws in to their hands most times simply because motorists rarely respects them, i think it is high time they are given guns possibly with rubber bullets. I don't envy those doing the LASTMA jobs. I am a realist, how do you enforce arrest with a stubborn driver ?, if not with force. I saw an incident last week, where a huge driver fought vigorously with FRSC team in a bid to evade arrest and tried in a road site court. |
Nevertheless, I intend to remind you of all the myriad of promises you made during your political campaign throughout the country. In my generosity, I have listed them for you here. 1. You Promised to rule for only one term (reference http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12339017) As a man of your words or rather as you want to make us believe, PLEASE stick to this plan and pledge. I sincerly hope we will not have political jobbers, groups like Youths Earnestly Ask for Jona, Dbanj, Lagbaja, Sunny Ade all singing for your second term bid? I sincerly hope also, you will not come out and openly deny you didnt make such promise or statements as you did about the zoning saga. 2. You promised a consitutional role for Traditional Rulers!!! I am short of words but Nigerians are waiting 3. You landed in Portharcourt on Feb 12 where you made alot of promises, maybe to woo your Niger Delta people. Be that as it may, you announced that the NNPC, in partnership with the private sector, would establish a petrochemical plant in the Niger Delta (you didnt state where exactly). You promised the plant will create job opportunities for the Niger Delta youths. Then you went ahead to promise the implementation of Local Content Law and Petroleum Industry Bill. In case you cant remember when you made all these, cast your mind back to the stampede that claimed some lives (where your wife called them martyrs). 10. In Kaduna- You promised massive transformation of the agricultural sector through construction of large dams and distribution of one million metric tonnes of fertilisers for the 2011 farming season (The rains are here already, so fulfil your promises o) You also pledged to establish Almajiri model schools to address the challenges of the Almajiris. 11. First of all, you pledged to refocus on the solid mineral development of the state and make it one of the key revenue sources in Nigeria. The Plateau people are banking on you. Mr President, You promised to build more dams and complete ongoing ones, so as to boost agricultural growth. Yoy left the state and the Plateau people have been happy ever since and now that you have won, they are waiting 13. Mr President on Feb 21, you were in Kogi. You promised among other things promised that the dredging of the River Niger and Lokoja-Abuja road dualisation would be completed very soon. THE KOGI PEOPLE AND INDEED NIGERIANS ARE HOPING AND WAITING 14. In Kwara State on Feb22, you pledged that the irrigation project in Shonga would be completed soon to boost the commercial farming activities of the New Nigeria Farmers in the area. Mr president, remember you also said the Jebba-Mokwa road and Jebba bridge would be given adequate attention to ease transportation in the area. Kwarians are waiting! 15. On February 24, Mr. President, you pledged to rehabilitate ALL ailing industries in Aba. I believe all Abians are hoping on you to provide the enabling environment to do their businesses, you must keep your promises, 16. Mr.President, on Feb 25th in Anamabra you said there is a plan to build a power station in the state, assuring that within the next four years your administration would construct and rehabilitate ALL federal roads leading to Anambra as well as the South East. You equally to provide potable water to the densely populated Onitsha and Nnewi cities and tackle erosion in the South-East. To tell you the truth, Mr. President, Anambrians are banking on you! 17. In Ebonyi state, you promised to dualise the Enugu-Abakaliki federal highway in addition to establishing a secretariat for ALL Federal government's agencies and parastatals in Ebonyi. Mr. president, The people of Ebonyi has never had it so good since the creation of their state. Now, you have promised them the good life. Please keeep to your words! 18. In Niger state, you promised the more power generation. Perhaps the most important aspect of your promises is that your government would map out a five-year strategic plan for road projects. (Please we are waiting for the Plan NOW!!!!) 19. On Feb 27, you were in Asaba, the Delta state capital, which happens to be my state. On that fateful sunday, you revealed that “The NNPC is developing a new programme that will absorb about 5,000 youths, ”, Mr. President, Deltans are delighted at this REVELATIONS. While that number is a far cry from the number of unemployed youths in the state, at all at all na winch (as we say in Warri), so Deltans are waiting. 20. On March 2nd, you were in Ondo where you pronmised that roads and other basic infrastructure across the states will be developed in four years. In addition you also promised the exploitation of the vast bitumen deposits in the state for national economic development and employment generation. The Ondo people are waiting. Your Four years have started already. You must start now. 21. On the same day, March 2nd, your campaigbn train was in Ekiti state. While there, you promised that more than N50 billion federal intervention projects were ongoing in the state. You can be rest assured that the Fayemi and indeed the entire Ekiti kete are waiting for you. 22. On March 9th, in Sokoto, you promised to rehabilitate the abandoned Shagari irrigation project as well as reviving the nation’s rail system and fight the menace of desertification in the country. Sokoto people have sufffered for too long. This is your time to redeem your pledge, Mr President. The clock is ticking!!! 23.The date was March 12th 2011 and you were in Ogun state. Remember, the day you rode to Abeokuta through rail? Yes, That was the day you promised an improved power supply before the end of the year through the Integrated Power Project (IPP) initiative. You also pledged to build more refineries, encourage downstream activities, resuscitate rail transportation and create jobs. In case you have forgotten, that was the day that Gbenga Daniel (your South West campaign coordinator was booed by the Ogun people). 24.On March 14th, your campaign trained moved to Kebbi where you promised to establish a federal university next year (2012). You also promised to create jobs through science and technology, tackle environmental challenges and boost health care delivery. 25.Katsina, was your port of call on March 15 where you promised to enhance the living standard of Nigerians through implementation of people-oriented programmes that would provide citizens the necessary opportunities to realise their potentials. In my opinion, this was just mere rhetorics as you did not make any concrete promises. or did you have the premonition, you will lose in Katsina? I might just be right. 26.In Kano, you pledged to resuscitate the nation’s power sector and encourage the development of small and medium scale enterprises in the country while ensuring justice, equity and fair play in the polity. Mr.President, Space will not allow me to list the deluge of promises in Lagos, Osun, Borno, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Imo, Taraba, Jigawa, Edo, Bayelsa and Zamfara states. If you can accomplish all your promises in the next four years, then you will go down memory lane as the best President ever. Im all honesty, I wish you GoodLuck!!! Time will tell!!! https://www.nairaland.com/817384/fashola-hands-over-fourth-maternal Commissioning Of The Maternal And Child Health Centre, Ajeromi General Hospital Dec 1, 2011 - Today, I stand before you once again to fulfill our electoral promise of making life more meaningful for our people. Today, we bring the good tidings of safe delivery to our mothers and a healthy living to our children in Ajeromi area. Today demonstrate to our people that not only does your Government have the capacity to reduce infant and maternal mortality, it has the imagination and determination to deliver improved healthcare for children and mothers. Maternal and child health remained critical determinants of global and national health. Women of child-bearing age and the pediatric age group constitute a significant and vulnerable segment of the good people of Lagos State. We cannot underplay the crucial and unequalled roles our mothers play in the nurturing and growth of our children and consequently, our nation. To this end, we will continue to strive for their utmost comfort and medical safety. The Ajeromi Maternal and Child Centre that we officially hand over for public use today is the fourth of its type that our Government has delivered to the public. It is a 110- (One Hundred and Ten) bed specially designed hospital for women and children, as a decisive response to the problems of access and distance in the way they compound the indices of infant and maternal mortality. The first of this type of facility was delivered in Ikorodu, the second one was delivered in Isolo, and the third in Ifako Ijaiye. The Maternal and Child Centers at Ikorodu, Isolo and Ifako Ijaiye were commissioned in the first quarter of the year 2010. Throughout their first 21 months of operations, these three facilities recorded a total of 89,255 antenatal clinic attendances, 15,091 gynecologic clinic attendances and 121,549 pediatric clinic attendances out of which 5,335 children (4.4%) required hospitalization. Of the total of 9,689 deliveries conducted to date at the three facilities, 3,653 (38%) were Caesarean Sections. Until your Government provided these facilities, women in labour who required special attention had to travel from Ikorodu, Isolo and Ifako Ijaiye all to Ayinke House in Ikeja. Sometimes during this travel, complications occur in labour and the worst happens. We lose either the child, the mother or sometimes both. Since we started building these centres, the story has changed. The incidence of death during labour has dropped significantly because the facilities in Ikorodu, Isolo and Ifako Ijaiye are serving their purpose. Taxpayers' money is well spent, and even as we speak, Ayinke House is undergoing a major reconstruction with new equipment to bring it to the standards that we now have in these new centres. This same type of facility is now ready for handover in Surulere, Amuwo Odofin and Alimosho, while the one in Ibjeu Lekki is under construction. Interestingly, our Government has approved two more for Year 2012 to be located in Badagry and Epe and this will bring the number to 10 (Ten). As I said, the Ajeromi Maternal and Child Centre is the fourth of these projects to be commissioned. The project was completed and opened to the public in July 2011. Operations commenced on the 25th July 2011 and as at November 27, 2011 the records reflect antenatal clinic attendance of 2,116, gynecology clinic attendance of 783, and pediatric clinic attendance of 4,423. 254 out of the pediatric clientele required hospitalization. This facility has recorded 254 deliveries inclusive of 94 Caesarean Sections and 31 gynecological surgeries. It is my fervent hope that the availability of these services would complement other maternal and child survival strategies being implemented by the State. I am confident that families, communities and leaders can be counted on to play their pivotal roles in the proper utilization of these unique facilities to provide the desired outcomes. To the good people of Ajeromi-Ifelodun local government area, I say congratulations as we share this moment in history and pray that this centre will provide the expected succor to our mothers and children. Indeed while we are confident that the trepidation of pregnancies will now be supplanted by the celebration of safe delivery and happy motherhood, we must remind ourselves that birth control and family planning is a responsibility that all of us must take seriously. Our war against poverty will be difficult to win, if nothing is done to aggressively control our population growth. If we control the numbers, the feast will be plentiful. Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure and privilege to formally commission the Maternal and Child Health Centre at Ajeromi General Hospital to the glory of God and the benefit of humanity. I thank you all. Eko o ni baje o! BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOlA (SAN) Governor of Lagos State |
Frank-C:I know you will not give up, you know in your heart you don't want to be convinced ! Even if i shove the development works and strides of fashola in to your face, you will never see it. You are damned. The only people i am disappointed about are the innocently gullible people. |
Billyonaire: Many people on this forum will disagree with you, I am sure of that. It is not magnanimity when a Government does her job. In better climes there are food stamps for those who cant afford meals and there are free medicare and social security and even refunds. It is a norm. And you dont have to be well traveled to know that the governor is your servant and is supposed to meet your basic needs.I dont care if ALL people on this forum diagree with me. I dont do herds mentality. This country is what it is now, because, people like you are in the majority |
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Thursday launched the Maternal and Child Care Mortality Reduction Programme in the state, saying it has built eight maternal and child care hospitals in the past five years to provide life saving services to mothers and children. Fashola, who spoke at the Blueroof Hall, LTV 8 Complex Agidingbi, said five have gone into full operation, while out of the remaining three, two have been completed with training of staff that have been specially recruited to be familiar with the equipment and the facilities before being deployed currently going on. The governor said government was not done yet as it had awarded another two MCCs in Badagry and Epe to ensure that the project to reduce distance to hospital for pregnant women, is statewide and all embracing. Fashola who took a retrospective look at the programme, said it is a project within a comprehensive programme that started in 2007, adding that when he was elected governor one of the challenges he resolved to confront was the unacceptable index of women of children or both who lost their lives in the process of giving life. He said his interactions with professionals in the medical fields both within the state service and private sector showed the many causes of infant and maternal mortality which were many and varied. Among them were the issues of diet, lifestyle, undiagnosed non-communicable diseases like hypertension and diabetes, complications during pregnancy, quackery, distance to properly equipped hospitals which sometimes led to fatalities during emergencies. The governor who gave a status report on each of the factors said as at today, government has resolved a number of them and still has its hands on the plough to overcome those that are still receiving attention. On diabetes and hypertension screening and treatment which was one of the first to be flagged off at Ifako-Ijaiye on assumption of office, between 2007 and July 2012, he said a total of 96,468 people have been screened and is still continuing. “What was most revealing was the lack of knowledge about our people and women of child bearing age about the lifestyle choices and what they ate and how this pre-disposed them to risk during pregnancy.” |
https://www.nairaland.com/1080624/mimiko-wins-ondo-gubernatorial-poll/9 @ lost Pope, You claim that Fashola has not built any hospital ? I showed you links in the thread above and you became lost on that thread http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/lagos-govt-builds-eight-maternal-and-childcare-centres-in-five-years/128119/ |
Billyonaire: You choose to, and I choose not to. Logically, if the respective State Governments did their jobs, millions of people in train loads from each State wont migrate to Lagos including me. People need to start demanding their rights from their State Governments cos every State receives allocation from Abuja every 4/5 weeks. What are they doing with the phucking billions they receive every 4 weeks ? And you applaud them for paying train which cost nothing ? Think Emiye, Think!!!"for paying train which cost nothing"? Do you pay for something that is free? It is not the state obligation to do that, it is magnanimity of the state govt.,I think it is you that needs to think, Think ..... |
Billyonaire: Why would anyone be thankful to a government when they do their job ? It is the responsibility of a government to provide basic infrastructures to the governed. The Federal Government and Osun State Government can get no thank you from me for doing their job.You mean it is the job of Osun state Government to pay for commuters transport fare ? Far from it, i think the state govt. has gone beyond the call of duty. Even you yourself know it. the state govt should be applauded |
That guy is not far from the truth. It is easy to criticize, you cant do those kind of JOBS (LASTMA field workers) in LAGOS, Nigeria, without being AGGRESSIVE. (Quote me anytime) No motorist will respect you without any weapon (gun or even baton) These guys deal with Danfo drivers and bus conductors (who on the average are aggressive and hardened) how then do you enforce arrest? You think you can arrest an average lagosian motorist by speaking grammar, you risk being ran over. The nigerian system does not have any viable records whatsoever to track erring motorist, or even discreetly placed cameras. In some climes, cameras are used to collect plate numbers of vehicles at toll gates, and the amount due is sent to the owner for payment at a later date, can we do that in Nigeria at the moment ? |
Those who are happily married or have a great relationship do not have this kind of problem. |
@OP, you are the icon of scum bags. unfortunately some gullible people will believe you. May your conscience eat you up like cancer. Why are you playing dirty 2015 politics ? Are you God ? You had better pray to witness 2015. |
