PoliticsRe: Realistic Options For Opposition Presidency In 2015? by emiye(m): 6:07am On Jan 21, 2013
Deep Sight: Why risk a controversial candidate at all if you are determined to seize the presidency from the PDP? Why not shop for someone without such "baggage"?
Those baggages worries much the SS/ SE folks, where GEJ had over 95% votes on the avg in 2011 election. Buhari had less than 2% of the total votes cast in these two regions, in 2015, things might not change much, but a 10% performance would be great and plausible with more funds for campaign, voters mobilisation . Buhari would perform better in the North versus GEJ in 2015, N.B (He had roughly 11 million votes from the North in 2011).

A much significant improvement in the South West than 2011, a SW politician like Fashola as VP cand. N.B (At 2011 elections, PDP was still in control of 2 SW states, and the ACN candidate was not going to fly, after the failed merger, and open secret that Ribadu had resigned).

12.4 million votes in 2011 can improve to 19 -20million votes in 2015.

Gboliwe: Why? He had a shot at it once. Don't you think he may have improved on himself since then?
Your choice is not realisic my brother. For some of these reasons.

(1) He would not get the much needed votes in the North, the North wants the power back in 2015

(2) It is a South / South ticket, it is easier to sell a muslim/muslim ticket.

(3) Rochas is not overwhelmingly popular and loved as you think, even from his state and region.

Take no offense, i laughed at your choice, i am not saying those two can not govern well, they are not realistic candidates.

Any choice that will capture power from the current establishment must have a presidential candidate from the northern extraction. (It is the reality we must face, it might taste sour in your mouth and i, embracing it is the way out). The question is who is the Credible AND popular candidate from the North?
PoliticsRe: Lagos: Mega City Or Mega Madness? by emiye(m): 4:40am On Jan 21, 2013
thoth: You people always start with family planning and all that nonsense where it has no relation whatsoever with topic if observed carefully.
Assuming i have two children which is moderate enough and i am a civil servant earning minimum wage how can pay for the university tuition of my two children to get that elusive education that you preach ? Is it even possible with one child ? What kind of education is it that the rich kids are getting ? Do you know how many graduates that nigeria produce each year and what happened to them with there education ?
The black man always tries to talk as if he is wiser, special and more intelligent , excluding himself from the masses while he dies slowly and having only the good feeling of lieing to himself as consolation. Think before you talk.
You people always come up with "earning minimum wage " examples all the time,
Why should you be earning minimum wage and have 17 years + children due for university ? Did you start working when the child was due for uni. education? Cut me some slack over all this simplistic bulllshitt.

While expecting the Government to do its own bit, it is important you do yours. You have limited control on the Government as an individual(elections every 4 years), but a greater control in shaping your family outlook.

With the current GDP per capita of the country, a budget of 5 trillion Naira for 170 million Nigerians, 500 billion naira for 18million Lagosians you will need to prove that socialism is the way out.

Our Politicians are greedy and selfish, but make no mistake the poor man on the street is likewise greedy and selfish. He only complains ,because he is not tall enough for his hand to reach the national cake.

Family planning for me is not limited to child spacing or bearing, it is an all encompassing tool that includes (number of children, savings/investment, housing, wards education) for the family.

I have seen many supposedly low income earners who has realised that times are hard and learnt to cut their coat according to their cloth, focused on priorities and in a matter of years turn around their fortunes.

Yes University education is not a guarantee of success, but it gives you a greater chance of competing and succeeding.

PoliticsRe: Lagos: Mega City Or Mega Madness? by emiye(m): 2:18pm On Jan 20, 2013
The last three lines of the last paragraph reveals that the writer is a Labour Party loyalist.

Many Nigerians want transformation from Point A to Point Z, but do not want to go through the sometimes painful process. The change will not come by a miracle, it includes a tortuous long journey to eldorado.

If you know you are poor, start with family planning and good education for the few wards you have, that way their chances of competing with the children of the rich is bright.

Blyss: Humm, so Nigeria doesn't have a national emergency response number, like 911 here in the US? huh All you have to do here is dial 911 and an emergency dispatcher will answer the phone, you tell her your emergency issue, give her your location or general location and they'll dispatch the appropriate emergency services in your area to your location to help you.
Lagos State has pionered it, 767 for all emergency services.

Sincere 9gerian: Why not open a thread on those issues?
This thread is about lagos state govt and its annual budget for feeding or refreshment
I don't need to open a thread on those issues .. Your State governor is missing for four months and you stay in that Enugu not so bothered, and you are obsessing about Lagos State. I am suspecting you have not been to Lagos in your entire life.

How can you be so unconcerned about your "leprosy" and so concerned about someone else "headache".

Is there a better way to define hypocrisy ? You are so Insincere and should be ashamed of yourself.

You are a disgrace to your unborn generation. huh huh huh
PoliticsRe: What Was Budgeted By Lagos For Feeding In 2013? by emiye(m): 9:49pm On Jan 15, 2013
@ Op, Before asking for feeding budget of LASG

(1)do you know the whereabout of your state Governor who was last seen over 4 months ago?

(2) Is he dead or alive? Recuperating or decaying?

(3) how much of Enugu's budget is used in treating your Governor on his sick bed in the foreign hospital , he is ?

Those 3 questions should bother you more, you reside in ENUGU STATE, and you are so concerned about Lagos state.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria's 'Wealth' Is Over-rated by emiye(m): 11:40pm On Jan 12, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: @MAYOWAAK..,you just said my mind.

The problem with Nigeria is structural. Over-centralization of power in Abuja is at the centre of ALL the problems in Nigeria.

We need to devolve powers to the states, and let every state harness its people and resources and pay taxes to the centre.

This re-structuring will make everyone and every state to put on their thinking cap on how to create wealth. Because taxes will be paid from the wealth of every person, there will be more revenue at the state and central govt level.

Also because the wealth is coming from bottom-up, corruption will automatically minimise, inflation will reduce, industries and other creative ventures will multiply in geometric proportion.

Compare and contrast with the present arrangement where Abuja is trying to feed every state and every citizen? It is simply an unworkable arrangement.

Until we make the structural changes that are needed to put Nigeria on the fast lane of development, we'll continue to crawl as a nation.

Unfortunately, structural changes in Nigeria is unlikely except the oil dries up. It will be opposed by the far-north. Worst still, this sort of debate, is completely missing in the media.
I quite agree with you, i had to check your moniker twice though to be sure it was coming from you.

@OP, the current wealth of Nigeria is overrated and worse still mismanaged by the "rulers". You are on point.

@ Mods, i think this should make the front page.

PoliticsRe: Oyo Is Difficult To Govern – Ajimobi by emiye(m): 7:32pm On Jan 08, 2013
jmaine: The Governor is the one crying here simply because the followers have dissenting views about him . . .
Much ado about nothing ! The Governor made a statement from what he observed, and people like you have made a mountain out of the mole hill.

It is expected, the 2011 election was a very close 3 horse race, amongst ACN, PDP, Accord. Even the house of assembly at inception did not have an ACN majority, the Deputy speaker was picked from Accord party The big opposition parties try to incite the populace and play dirty politics to incite the "people". There are several tales they come up with, like the wife is the one making decision for the governor, wife is laundering money abroad , bla bla ,........

One thing is clear, Governance must be placed ahead of the kind of primordial politics which some of the opposition elements are playing.

Call it whatever you like, "the good ones will trump the bad ones". He is a governor of all, those who voted him in & those who did not." the good & bad followers" . Those who lost their daily bread from the kitchen of impunity can continue to cry ..... The Governor should stay focused.
PoliticsRe: Oyo Is Difficult To Govern – Ajimobi by emiye(m): 5:12pm On Jan 08, 2013
The long years of "adedibu" kind of politics in Oyo state has severely affected the psyche of a typical oyo state indigene. Complaints i hear from some people in Ibadan, is he is not "sharing" the money. huh huh.

To many in Oyo state, a good Governor is the one "sharing" the money, but i am certain the good people will trump the bad ones, Oyo state is improving, the next 12 months will bring about positive changes more than the last 19 months.(Quote me later).

babyosisi: I doubt if he married all of them at the same time
He must have married just one wife in his youth and as the music career and fame came,he added on to his harem
Don't be surprised that he may have just married one in 2007 when King Sunny Ade gave him the boots
So he may have children in their 30's plus some in diapers
And as is always the case, the older kids couldn't be bothered about the little half siblings when they have their own lives to live
So what does the guitar boy do?
He carries drugs

What I wanna know is how an old man like this will have connection to drug business
Let him spill the beans,it is not enough to catch the mules, where is the big oga sending them.
The point is not if he married them the same day or not, It is why 4 wives and loads of children... ?

He was already digging his own grave, in the eventuality his income profile nose dive. (this happens more often than not) He knew his career had no pension, he was not even the star to earn royalties ,,, it is simply foolishnessss.

I hardly feel any pity for him, it is important others learn

Nothing is certain in life, you have to prepare for the worst case scenario.

Poverty will reduce drastically in Africa, with family planning.

PoliticsRe: We Won't Spend N60bn On Mobile Phones For Farmers - Dr. Akinwumi Adesina by emiye(m): 9:51pm On Jan 04, 2013
kinisoo?:
Will you just shut up there? No wonder someone called Nairaland "Nigeria's Online Beer palour." For your information, a comprehensive nation-wide population survey was carried out between 2010 and 2011. I got to know because I worked very closely with the ADPs and the real rural interior farmers themselves when I did my field survey for my just-concluded Masters programme at the University of Ibadan. It will interest you that Ogun state alone had over 200, 000 active rural peasant farmers. I'm not defending spending billions anyhow but let no one come here to spew rub.bish.
Man, your approach was wrong, we learn everyday, i don't doubt your figure, in actual fact it is way more than that.

I was in OGADEP, idiaba, Abk, Ogun state in Sep,2012 and i was told there are 360,000 "farm families" in Ogun state, i have presentations to back my claims. Farm families means farm households, if we are to break it down, we would have more farmers.

Distributing 10 million phones at 60 billion naira , then one must ask, where is the Cost Benefit Analysis, it surely is negative.

I dont doubt the 10 million farmers , in fact it might be more than that, some people do not really comprehend the rural and urban nature of the country, which is roughly 50 - 50%. In rural areas, they are virtually all farmers.
That is why some people dont agree that poverty rate can be 70% in Nigeria. All the picture they have in mind of the country starts and end in their urban world.
PoliticsRe: Is Okorocha Becoming A Disappointment? by emiye(m): 11:07pm On Jan 03, 2013
I can see through you, mr insincere9igerian, your motive is faulty.

Truth be told, Rochas is an impulsive fellow, unfortunately some of his policies look like not well thought out to.

19months out of 48 months might be too early to take a full swipe at him. he has a flash of good governance, trying to provide immediate needs of the people, that might not be sustainable.

I am aware he would be borrowing over 80 billion in the 2013 budget.(almost half of the budget)

Why declare free education when the quality of the schools are in shambles? i will prefer he borrows to aggressively improve the schools infrastructures.

Free education in Primary schools - Secondary schools is okay, and then improve quality.
