Ghana lost a match here and the whole of NL is like a big party cheesy . I SMH.

But sorry guys...Nigeria cannot reach Ghana's pedigree in football. At all levels in male football, Ghana has been better than Nigeria and no one ever said Ghana will win every day.

By the way you guys need to go to bed early because Burkina Faso has a great surprise for your Super Chickens Inconsistents cheesy
Which kind of useless pedigree does Ghana have ?

The last time you won an african nations cup was 1982. tongue tongue

PoliticsThe Sweet Bitter Story Of Victor Moses by emiye(op): 12:40am On Feb 09, 2013
This Piece was written by Dele Momodu

This is the story of a young boy whose parents were murdered during 2002 riots in Kaduna. He was aged 11 years at the time. His parents, Mr Austine and Mrs Josephine Moses, were missionaries until they met their untimely death. The boy left his house to play football but returned home to see that all his parents had laboured for had been razed down and he would never see his mother and father again.

He was taken to London by his uncle almost immediately after the incident. While in London, he began deploying his football skills. Though his parents were murdered, his passion for football was never killed. He played football for his school and later for a local Tandrige League club until Crystal Palace FC approached him. From that point, his career progressed in leaps and bounds.

This player played for England's under 16, 17, 19 and 21 teams between 2005 and 2010 scoring 11 goals for England during this period. He later moved to Wigan Athletic and now he plays for Chelsea. This footballer is called VICTOR MOSES.
His story is a touching one, I share his pains. I also share his courage. He had a choice not to step into Nigeria again but he didn't take that option. When the call to serve his fatherland came, Moses dumped England and embraced Nigeria... That is patriotism!

Today, we see a Victor Moses bringing joy to every Nigerian including those who may have inspired his parent's death... That is Love!

On Sunday, Moses would stand for the National Anthem and pledge allegiance to a country that couldn't defend his parents... That is faith!

Moses would deliver the "African Cup of Nations" trophy to Nigeria not minding what had happened in the past... That is forgiveness!

Moses rose through bitterness and despair to the limelight of hope and courage.

He never gave up on his country. He persevered... That is purpose!

If someone like Victor Moses, despite the bitter past, never gave up on Nigeria, then why should we....! ONE NIGERIA

Some of you just make statements without any logic to side it, you only make follow-follow statement with emotions, and one begins to wonder if you have watched the matches.

Of the four goals Nigeria has scored so far, Mikel has 3 assists.
SportsRe: Mikel & Ogude Are Suspended For The Ivory Coast Match? by emiye(m): 6:39am On Feb 01, 2013
Nigeria was better than B/Faso when we played them, even with 10 men.

Nigeria was better than Zambia when we played them, even with poor officiating.

Nigeria was better than ethiopia when we played them, with over 60% ball possession, shots on goal and goals scored, and a frustrating defensive tactics from them.

Nigerian team is not as bad as we paint them to be.

CIV defense line is made up of players aged over 30 with less pace. Nigeria will have at least a chance for penalty on sunday.

CIV 2013 team is weaker than the 2012 team.

Cote d voire struggled to beat less fancied Togo 2-1, scoring the winner in the 90+minute. Nigeria's crew should study that tape.

75% of CIV defence line that conceeded two penalties against algeria is what Nigeria would be playing with.

YES, Nigeria has some weakness, but others have theirs too. With some luck and hard work, we will win the match.

I might agree with the "barely" qualify statement, cause at at 12 minutes to the end of the 2 matches (78" ) played simultaneously, Nigeria was placed third and would have been out of the tournament, if things remains the same. The tie breaker between Zambia an Nigeria would have been fairplay statistics, which Nigeria was worse of in.

Now , nothing will stop us till we get to the final of the nations cup, not even the elephants of cote d voire.
SportsRe: Mikel: Nigeria Can Defeat Ivory Coast by emiye(m): 1:12pm On Jan 30, 2013
Nothing too spectacular about CIV, CIV struggled to defeat Togo 2-1. Scoring the winner in the 90+ minute. Even Togo's clean goal was disallowed.

They Defeated a very weak Tunisia in this tournament by 3-0, score was 1-0 as at 88minutes, before loss of concentration.

Tunisia win against Algeria was against run of play.

Nigerians stop your inferiority complex !!!, it is so nauseating. We see all the good about others and fails to notice their weaknesses, and see all our weaknesses and fail to see our strengths. cry cry

I hope the players do not suffer the same inferiority complex, i see displayed here.

If Zambia had this inferiority complex in Afcon 2012, they would not have defeated giants like Senegal, Mali, Ghana and CIV to win the nations cup.

chess guru: It isn't rocket science. Its becos we've been throwing away leads from d beginning of the tournament which is very bad.
I believe that @ 7mins 2 go, with 2 goals up, what a team should be doing is maintaining possession and not attacking recklessly.
I disagree with you, the scenario we threw away the leads were different (Ist game, we were a man down, 2nd game, it was a bad penalty call) and we were only a goal ahead.

I might agree with such tactics, if we were on a lone goal lead

I sincerely believe we could have scored 2 more, if we gather our acts together, and come tops of the group

I mean they were not only one man down, they had a keeper, who will most likely be a basket

I must confess , this was annoying for me, why play defensive at that stage?

We were 2 goals up, against a team that was one man down, and a make shift keeper?

Who knows we just might have scored 2 more goals within the 5 minutes needed to top the group? We did not even try the make shift keeper in 7 minutes? That was pathethic to be sincere, and such highly fearful pattern of play should not be seen with the eagles.

N.b I know some pessimist will open their mouths aloud and find it hard to close it on sunday, after the Nig vs CIV match ends.

After 12 games , 8 draws so far and 4 wins.

In Actual fact 3 out of the 4 wins were narrow victories, and some wins came from strikes late in the game.(CIV and Mali wins)

When are we going to have the 4-1 , 4-0 , 5-2 kind of victories ? Will Nigeria break the yoke tomorrow ?

Three of 10 men are not fathers of their ‘kids’, says DNA expert
Friday, 28 September 2012

Is paternity testing becoming an issue in Nigeria?

We have seen that there is serious need for it because in many homes things are happening that are scary both to the lives of children and their parents. And for the general statistics that is now available, it is found that three out of every ten men are not the fathers of their babies. Similarly, three out of every ten children are not fathered by men they have seen as their biological fathers. What we have found out is that, anytime we take ten men, at least three of them eventually found that they are not the fathers of the children they call their own. And these men would have taken care of the children for all their lives.

Now, the global statistics is 100, 000 out of every 300, 000 men. But what we have found that is that the situation is higher in Nigeria than other places. For example in our laboratory here, 50 per cent of the cases comes out negative. And we also realised that majority of the first-borns are affected. You only need to be here to see big men cry like little kids and watch children weep in agony. It has been that bad. And I dare say it is becoming something every home must do and you may be quite surprised at the level of dastard revelation.

About thirty per cent of fathers are unknowingly bringing up children who are not biologically theirs. And it is suspected that this percentage may be on the increase due to sexual recklessness. According to recent trends in sexual health, especially in Nigeria, it was suggested that unprotected sex and multiple partners are comparatively common occurrences with a large proportion of conceptions still unplanned. So, more than half, that is, 50 per cent of all paternity tests carried out by our lab comes out negative and the most affected are first-borns, except in a few cases.

Do these cases happen mostly in matrimonial settings or in casual relationships?

In both matrimony and casual affiliations! I tell you, we have had series of married men come here and go back home devastated. In one instance, a man came here with his wife. Out of the five children he thought were his own, he discovered that only two belonged to him. And they are both duly married, living together as husband and wife. You see, the major problem we have in our country is that most of these cases are not duly documented. So, people don't know we have such issues among us. In fact, some even don't know where to go for the test to determine their child or children's paternity. And I tell you, if you go to ten homes as we speak, you will be amazed to find that in almost all of them the children there do not belong to the men. It is that rampant.

If it is that rampant, how would you describe the three years since you started testing men?

Now, the general statistics by the American Association of Blood Banks is that globally, 100, 000 out of 300, 000 men are not the actual fathers of their presumed children. And like I said earlier, the Nigerian situation is even alarming. Also, Duess International, the condom manufacturers, once noted that Nigeria has the most reckless sexual life. So, you can then imagine what the outcome would be like if we say okay, let's start taking statistics one-by-one.

How many families do you attend to each week?

We test about 15 to 20 families. People come here as a result of various types of controversies over the paternity of certain children. You know, families have come to us with claims that a child neither takes after the mother nor the father in looks and character. So, the man of the house would be curious to ascertain facts. And when they come here with such children, the fears of the fathers have often been affirmed. Fathers usually have the doubts; maybe he has been hearing some rumours, and you know, men are often the last to hear such things about themselves. Until many of them come here to take the test, they have nurtured other men's children before realising it.

What does it take to do a paternity test?

Technology has made it so easy. It is just like any other deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test. In less than two seconds, we take the sample from the man. We use the Helix Swabs like a "big cotton buds" to extract some cells from the man's mouth. We rub the 'Swab' up-and-down the mouth to get some epithelial cells from around the cheek bone. In the nucleus of every cell, there is DNA. Once we collect that, we purify, extract and then multiply it and get the genetic profile which we then send to DNA laboratory abroad for testing.

What happens in situations where DNA samples do not match as we saw with someDANA victims?

So many reasons could be responsible for that. We have had a case in which a boy went to an hospital to claim the body of his deceased dad and on testing him, it was found that he was not fathered by the dead man. The genetic profile of the boy does not match with that of the man he claimed to be his father. And DNAs don't lie. The medical experts conducting these tests have nothing personal against the people that come to them for testing. Every human being take half of the genetic profile from either parent. Therefore, it is a matter of case closed if the genetic profile of the living does not match with that of the dead man. He is simply not that father.

So in football, it ain't over till it's over.
In actual fact, more than 80 % of the time, most teams that end up winning a tournament start relatively poorly., Loosing the first match, drawing a much weaker team, and barely winning a very weak team are hallmarks of a team that ends up winning a tournament.

thoth: I don't see the point in your post, i asked a question in the post you quoted and you could have answered that.
Will minimum wage be enough for one child ? Even if the child is in high school and the mom is a single parent. And please don't include medicals, transport and clothing in your calculation, just rent, feeding and education (for the child) for the two .
There are millions of parents that earn minimum wage and their children is of university age or already in University.
Sometimes we talk as if we all don't live in the same society and you can't look around you and see the way those policies are causing living cost to go up. Everything keeps getting expensive cause of goverment tax, you can't turn your head without paying another VAT, fuel price increased every two years and cost of transport soaring, electricity tariff has jumped to almost 25naira per kilowatt hour and where can you even find clean water ?
I guess your kind is the one that would suggest they should trek to avoid the transport cost, take their bath once a week, and have only one bulb in their house which they would use for just an hour every night. Do you even know how much is a litre of Kerosene in the market or would they not cook anymore all in your bid to cut their coat according to YOUR STYLE(no more their size)
Let's be humans for once and look carefully around us and see what is really going on.
You also have failed to answer my question? Is it socialism you want? Lagos state with 18 million nigerians and 500 billion naira budget. What is the Pa/ capita annually? Do the Maths. N28,000 for each lagosian annually. N2,400 montly per lagosian.

If it is simplistic as you are putting it, many low income earners with 5 /6 kids will not send them to primary school at all. What i am advocating it is that when you are in a hole, you dont dig further. cut your family size and plan. Government will not solve majority of the problems, if things stay the way they are at the moment, i am a big advocate of true federalism, a change in the current structure of the country

More often than not. People dont also make right choices of leaders, they sell their conscience and vote, for a paltry N200.
