AgricultureRe: Enugu Set To Export Pineapples To Europe by emiye(m): 5:47pm On Sep 02, 2014
Nice development, i guess there would still be sizable enough quantity for local consumption within the state though.

I will also prefer a pineapple fruit juice company(ies) be set up in the state, to prevent a situation where the pineapple exported from enugu is later imported as pineapple juice in to Enugu.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Replies Tom Ikimi by emiye(m): 5:00pm On Sep 02, 2014
This man has an eagle political foresight .

Ikimi or sylva as party chairman huh bad decision that would have been.

Some of those bad eggs received from PDP are only needed to reduce the evil political arsenal of PDP and systemically be kept on APC's shelf and occasionally fed.

@ SamSara01, take charge, in the search for job, create options for yourself like Option B: search opportunities for foreign scholarship , Option C: Entrepreneurship (setting up small scale enterprise) Option D: Volunteer jobs in NGO's e.t.c,

As much as possible, pursue all the options simultaneously.

People's heart are darkened, i wont be surprised if some of your friends and colleageus with less than 1st class will make explicit and implicit effort to rub it in you dont have a job yet, upon your first class,, please realise it is the green eyed monster popping out in them, and do NOT take their words or actions to heart.

HealthRe: Dog Meat Kills Five In Cross River by emiye(m): 8:35pm On Aug 31, 2014
PapiWata: The man at least died as hero among lovers of dog meat, known in his neck of the woods as "Ebuwa" meat. Matter of fact it would not be surprising at all if the victim of this dhoggie dinner comes to be remembered with reverence and fondness, as a veritable patron saint of dog meat eaters in Calabar, Nigeria and beyond.

This die-hard lover of dog meat did not let his enthusiasm to score a free meal of his favorite dish be dampened by the high risk of poisoning with the same powerful insecticide used to kill the dog he elected eat as "punishment" for bad behavior.

Well, all told, it is indeed a dog-eat-dog world out there, though I am, well, dogged and hounded by the troubling thought that the consuming love for one's favorite dish can in fact be a far GREATER motivating force for some special people, than the very will to live, whereby hard-core connoisseurs of filet-dogghie would willingly consume dog stew made from a poisoned animal, as a means of demonstrating their single-minded dedication to a cause.

Now that, ladies and mentalmen, is an illustration of true loyalty and faithfulness to a Higher Calling, literally to one's last breath.

Long live the Late Eater of Dog, for he is now at the right hand of God, devouring yet more dog stew from a golden, diamond-studded chalice, up beyond the sky.
You dey yarn opata, come dey goldplate am.

PoliticsRe: Niger East Senatorial By-election Results by emiye(m): 2:29pm On Aug 31, 2014
zicoraads: This result as announced by INEC is bullshit, trust me, it is.

I have been following this thread without making any comment but I feel I must. The PDP candidate, Zagbayi, a Gbagyi man, served as deputy gov for eight years without any meaningful project for his people. The Gbagyi's hate him to the core.

David Umaru of the APC has more love. He is a grassroot man, Zagbayi is not. Hell, Zagbayi is not even a good politician.

I am in Minna, and I went to about 14 polling units, even the one beside the governor's house. The message was the same, David Umar. Most people here didn't vote for the party, they voted for the man. Few days to the election, I went with some of my community's youth executive to see Maibasira, PDP's National Youth Leader, who gave us some cash and admonished our support. Now that man comes back home almost every weekend from Abuja, and has always shied away from sitting with the youths of his area until a few days to election. So, who is fooling who? That is what most of them are about. They only know us when its time for election.

I am not for any party, only good candidates, and David is miles from Zagbayi.

INEC did well in Osun and Ekiti, they shouldn't undo all the accolades they amassed from those two elections. Besdies, Minna is a peaceful town but the people are not foolish, they might decide to fight for their rights.
The election was held in 9 lGAs from what has been said, as such a breakdown of result from each of the lgas will suffice, judging from the results posted APC canadidate won on a landslide in Minna, but can the same be said in all other LGAs.
I will prefer to see a breakdown of the result, and then what led to the result been declared inconclusive?, and finally what does INEC refers to as 7 units for elections to be held? polling units or ward units?
PoliticsRe: Niger East Bye Election Inconclusive By INEC by emiye(m): 12:21pm On Aug 31, 2014
If it is just 5 polling units outstanding, then APC can not upturn the lead, the units for reelection is not clear, . is it ward units or polling units?
PoliticsRe: Niger East Senatorial By-election Results by emiye(m): 11:05pm On Aug 30, 2014
I have a feeling the current governor will decamp to APC soonest to secure his planned senate seat, and if David Umoru wins today, he will contest as gubernatorial candidate in 2015. A seat swap btw talban and David Umoru will occur in 2015.

Well, i am not too informed about the Niger state politics, but so far the news reveal APC is leading even at the Governors stronghold.
PoliticsRe: Niger East Senatorial By-election Results by emiye(m): 8:23pm On Aug 30, 2014
APC should win this, the compulsory counting of votes at polling units , and the permission of voters to stay over if they wish after voting has reduced votes stealing to the barest minimum.

2015 presidential election is open to several permutations, some current APC states will fail to get majority of presidential votes, the same for current PDP states, although the PDP states will be the biggest loser.

PoliticsRe: Adamawa: How Jonathan, Mu’azu Saved Ribadu by emiye(m): 12:31pm On Aug 30, 2014
Ribadu's best chance was in APC, there is no way there wouldnt be a crisis in Adamawa PDP after the primary elections, because there are several heavyweights in PDP jostling to be Governor simultaneously(marwa, tukur, fintiri, gundiri, e.t.c). Ribadu would have had a better chance to take advantage of such crisis in the PDP.

That PH doctor is a traitor, and he deserved to die. Imagine treating and managing an ebola patient in a local hotel, what now happens to the beddings, which the unaware hotel workers will have direct contact with.

A true and patriotic doctor will secretly inform the health authorities, and get the man locked down in a recognised isolation centre, but this criminal doctor was penny wise pound foolish.

django1: In case the reality of things escaped you, the whole country failed miserably and at the end of the day more yorubas passed than ibos.

Although I understand why you people are jubilating but you still have nothing on yorubas as we still have more brilliant students than you.

I would really like to see the percentages of those that passed the core subjects (Maths and Eng).
As to the boldened, what WAEC classified as pass is a candidate with at least 5 credits, Maths and English inclusive, as such if a candidate has 6 A's in 6 Wassce subjects and a d7 in English or Maths, it is considered as failure by WAEC.

There are a lot hidden under the statistics.

In the SW, i think Maths and English teachers in primary/secondary schools need to be given special recognition, retrained , and a mandatory pass clause in maths/english for a student to be promoted to the next class.

atlwireles: There are times serious thought process are required, when discussing public policy. Worry about your state's performance and stop making everything in this country about tribe. Tells, us how your state did and why?
There was no where i expressly or implicitly indicated my tribe in my posts on this thread. The worst kind of deceit is deceiving yourself

It is better that falsehood is not celebrated with fanfare, and i commend the current state governor of Anambra who prefers to unmask falsehood to determine reality by making attempts to close the exam malpractice centres.

Policies that will make great focus on Maths / English should be encouraged by state administrators, I know Lagos has made it compulsory for ss1/ss2 students to earn passmark in those two subjects to earn promotion to the next class.

Of what use is a candidate having six distinctions and a d7 in english or a d7 in maths ?in Waec classification , it is deemed as failure.

My point is that it shouldnt take way too much by state govts to ensure improvement, impact of sustainable policies should reflect 2-3 years down the line.

Acidosis: Sure, bro. I just do not see the need for the 10% ... 20% talks.

We cannot generalize reasoning that we do not even know his location (we also have bankers in villages). Telling a man living in Ikoyi to spend 10% of 4million on rent may end up living under the bridge. However, 10% of 4million can get the same man a palace in (say) Akure, Ondo state.
If he cant spend 10% of 4 million(total income) to live in Ikoyi, maybe he has no business living in Ikoyi.

Free education na badta.rd!
Dumb one who lacks deductive reasoning, it simply means an average of 100 students in each of the 486 special centres roughly equates the total number of students(50,000 +) who sat for Wassce exam in Anambra.

Acidosis: Spend whatever you want; and live a happy life.

Some Hotels in Ikoyi charge N70,000 per night. cheesy It doesn't mean those patronizing such hotels make N700,000 per day. I believe in making "yourself" happy. Do not let some economists dictate the short life...

However, one thing we should always avoid is "bad debt".
The boldened sounds to me like "Spend whatever you want now; and live a poor/sad life later". Human wants are insatiable, as such focus should be on needs, occasional indulgence is understandable.

Fhemmmy:
I dont think it is too much.....
360K Naira a year for accommodation is not too much at all, cos it means you have roughly 840K Naira left for the rest of all expenses.
What kinda job would you be doing to spend money monthly on clothing, in Nigeria, you buy your food in bulk and cook to eat in the house and cut down on your "Point and Kill joint"
Transportation, i will assume you have your own car, and if you dont, i am not familiar with cost of moving from one side to the other in Nigeria.
Fuel will be used only when you are home and for your ride if you have one and i dont see that as breaking the bank, i could be wrong cos i have no idea the cost of buying gas out there.
If you have children, you wont be paying school fees every year.
AGAIN, the 30% to me is the threshold that you wont wanna pass, if you are able to make it smaller, by all means
30% of income to pay rent in Nigeria is disaster waiting to happen. Things like fuel for generators, buying of water (potable), subscriptions (internet, pay to watch satellite e.t.c) will still take a sizable chunk of the income.

Anambra to shutdown 486 special exam centres 0
BY EMMANUEL UZOR, ONITSHA ON JULY 22, 2014 · NATIONAL
No fewer than 486 magic examination centres identified in Anambra State are to be shutdown by the state government as part of official measures to curb examination malpractices in the education sector.
The state Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha, who gave the hint during the 10th anniversary of St. Joseph Academic Award for 2014, said these examination miracle centres had been aiding and abetting examination malpractices especially during West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) examinations.
Prof Omenugha, while commending the founder of St. Joseph Academic Award, Mr. Bath Nwibe said the decision to shutdown the magic centres was induced by the way their operators fashioned them to swindle unsuspecting but desperate candidates.
His words: “We have government schools and approved private schools that are saddled with the responsibility of training our children to become functional members of our society. But with the emergence of these miracle centres, our children no longer study to pass examinations; rather they go to those places where they will be helped to pass examinations. We have set plans in motion to ensure that those examination miracle centres are closed down so that our children would imbibe the spirit and culture of success through hard-work.”
Mr. Nwibe, an engineer, noted that the award was instated to ensure that the human resources given to the youths were guided to become real assets to the society.
“This is by guiding them to develop the habit of hard-work early in life and thus, get good education that will form the launch pad for their growth and development in other areas,”
He pledged willingness to partner with the state government in the area of enlarging the foundation to the state level, “while we continue in extending succour to the beneficiaries.”
The total number of students who sat for wassce from anambra are roughly 50,000 students

Now imagine 486 illegal runs centre in the state. Divide 50,000 by 486, and tell me what you get.
EducationRe: Statistics for WAEC 2014 by emiye(m):

But close to 500 special centres were closed after the 2014 wassce exams.

Educate yourself, Ibadan is city divided into 5 local governments.
I thought you created this thread for intellectual discourse, not knowing its another ANTI-IBADAN rant by Bigots.
Actually, ibadan has 11 local governments, 5 of the 11 lgas are referred t as the main city, but over the years a greater part of the remaining 6 lgas which used to be semi urban has metamorphosed to urban settlement.

There are eleven (11) Local Governments in Ibadan Metropolitan area consisting of five urban local governments in the city and six semi-urban local governments in the less city. Local governments at present are institutions created by the military governments but recognised by the 1999 constitution and they are the third tiers of government in Nigeria. Local governments Councils consist of the Executive Arm made up of the Executive Chairman, the vice chairman, the secretary and the supervisory councilors.[7]

APC has won over 90% of the battle in its survival war.
