Why can't you be content with you fellow Edo people? Can you communicate with an Anioma person without using English? Obaseki is Anioma, so? He went to Bini and threw away his Igbo language and assimilated as a Bini person, does that now mean that Anioma should become one with Bini and throw away kinship with their Igbo speaking kins in the East.

An Igbo man is currently a senator in Italy and hold Italian citizenship. He even supports the racist Italian government. does it now mean that Igbos are one with Italians when we can't both communicate using our mother tongue?

Not everyone in SE is pro seccession, so leave secession out of it for now.
My point is that Igbo exists on both sides of River Niger.
And no matter all the odds stacked up against Igbo unity, encouraged by the likes of Edo, Ijaw and Igala who are looking to capitalize on current weak political state of the Igbo in Nigeria to annex Igbo speaking groups, we will prevail in the end.

Language alone does not establish identity. From Igbanke to Onitsha you will discover as an Igbo person that there are sufficient infusions of words with Edo origins and names that make it impossible for you to understand without an interpreter also. I schooled in UNN and at a time I had Kwale and Imo roommates. The Igbos definitely couldn't understand when the Ukwuanis were speaking their language. Apart from the fact that they formed part of an extensive empire, genetic testing will establish the truth once and for all!
Nnamdi Kanu once claimed that the Igbos originated from Israel. I know for a fact that genetic tests were conducted and that claim proved false! It's too late for empire building. If not for the selfishness and greed of Nigerian politicians (who hail from north, south, east and west), this country has potential, but it can never be great - whether as a whole or in fractions because of the people and modern day politics, including agitation for fractionalisation on grounds of tribe or religion or anything else!

Anybody anywhere is entitled to self determination. It's the manner in which they go about Biafra that's abhorrent. The bullying, brow beating, insults etc. They want to practice freedom of expression while denying anyone with a dissenting view the same rights. My question is, will the leadership of Biafra come from the moon? Is it not going to be more of the thieving lot that we are already accustomed to who call themselves politicians that will lead their nation? People without honour to whom the end justifies the means? Will it not be another African ....hole country where might is right and national wealth will go to the winner who takes all?
Another issue is that Igboland never produced empires like the hausa/fulani, Yoruba and Edos by the advent of the British colonialists. How do they now go about using Biafra to create one belatedly? Not every Igbo speaking people are igbos, ditto hausa, but the Biafran agitator will insult you for mentioning that. I am for giving them Biafra if possible - but I don't believe it will last. The Enugu man will discriminate against the Onitsha man and the Owerri man. Please give them let's see how feasible it is!

I have noticed something on science related threads.
There are usually these set of unintelligent religious folks who have refused to grasp knowledge and tend to make silly, childish remarks. Why? Simply because the information contradicts their religious beliefs. So they refuse facts based on research and rely on books written by men who never knew how the world worked.
If this research had mentioned "50 million years", here are the kind of ignorant comments one would expect.
"How old is the world again"?
"How did they know this"?
"were they there? so how did they arrive at the age"?
"Science and lies".
"What is the benefit of this research"?
"These liars are always trying to discredit the bible".


You see, these comments come from people who are unintelligent, and have refused to do little research, simply because they don't want to feel the earth dates back to billions of years, which will prove that their beliefs are false.
They're always quick to discredit scientific discoveries like this because it doesn't suit their beliefs.
They'd rather lie to themselves than admit the truth.
If you're ignorant about how scientists come up with the age of an object, or how they arrive at certain conclusions, just a simple Google search would do. Information is power. Widen your horizon.

Just so you know: If you don't believe research which is based on evidence and facts, but believe that a virgin gave birth to a boy who walked on water and turned it into wine, only to die and resurrect three days later to ascend into the sky, then you're a compound fool .

Outstanding! Congratulations if you believe that every physical thing/being in existence is derived from an explosion of nothing. So as complex as life is, is it more credible to believe that it's all a result of incredible odds, or that it's the creation of an infinitely more superior being?

The apostles in the Bible spoke languages that were understood by those listening to them. The book of Corinthians was written to correct error and discouraged speaking in other languages where there is no interpreter.
Speaking in tongues was one of the Apostolic signs. Those who speak gibberish today ignore the other apostolic signs listed in the Bible - immunity to snake and scorpion bites, poisons etc. The Apostolic age passed with the Apostles. Now that "that which is perfect" is here (the Bible), "that which is in part" is done away with!
The Christian Church needs no further verification. The signs and wonders (including speaking in other tongues - known languages) were meant to convince the unbelieving Jews who always "seek signs"
No other sign is necessary today because we have God's written word and the sign of resurrected Christ after three days in the grave!

I would rather worry about "men of God" who are not in tune with the word of God but very popular with men. The Bible warns about such. They will preach messages that will scratch the itch of those who have no interest in truly knowing and serving the one true God but would rather follow men.

Just take time to study the Bible. If you understand that Christ established the first Church, taught them to keep his commandments, commissioned them by empowerment on the day of Pentecost, gave them a mission - Matthew 28: 19, 20 which is the preaching of the Gospel 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, you will never doubt who a false prophet is. The Bible repeatedly warns that they would emerge!
