Well if not next time use it and help your brother. That is by the way, what ernie4life is say is this. VGIF has a guaranteed income base on the sdf while there is always additional income. The SDF - standard deposit facility is the rate CBN gives to Banks when they deposit funds with them. It used to be 9% but during one of the CBN meetings within the year it was reduce to 8.5%. So VGIF guaranteed rates is bench marked with sdf. But from experience there is always additional income. You can check my signature for any ... if need be. |

Any idea ? Can one monitor his VGIF account like we do with MMF app? You can monitor your VGIF account and all other funds account. To have your details, you have to first fund your account. Once your account is funded they will send the details to you. There is no need to request. It's automatic. By the way did you open with the link I posted or the one on my signature? |

Nigsrdumb: Sir the market is not dynamic enough. Imagine the 5 top performers are all banks.
Where are all the other industries?
I think business/ real estate/ high interest bonds are the way to go. The market is a reflection of the economy of a nation. Its dynamism is dictated by the state of the economy and policy makers. for instance you can see what is happening to Tbills rates of recent base on economic policy yet investors still buy Tbills depending on their risk tolerance, business/ real estate/ high interest bonds as you mentioned are other forms of investment. each has its place in investment world and they serve their different purpose. So the market still is a form of investment no matter how risky. All you do is to allocate your resources wisely to maximize your ROI |

healthserve: I disagree respectfully Sir
I personally bought stocks since 2007 - 2009 window in multiple organisations and still mainatian them and can tell how terribly our market is. Its a known fact. Even the presidents present and past havetried to revamp the system, yet the obvious remains
And have been reading the markets actively since ,before this period. Our organizations are colonies of con artists. Let's not over wip the subject. But people who know, know. And as a maestro as you Sir. You can attest to ...let's not re-visit this subject
Besides few companies like Nestle, anyone investing in our stocks is incinerating their hard earned income, to me Sir
I could be wrong. But realistically from all we've experienced in our dealings and experiences with the system, its a massive money burning machine I can relate with the period you just mentioned. It's the period I called era of blind and non calculated risk investment by Nigerians. when people just bought anything in the name of investment. If you really want to make money in the market after defining your goals/investment objectives: Read, read, and read again, be hungry for market and economic information, you will be amazed what you can get from the stock market. For your information that is what happens all over the markets in the different countries of the world. Even the all powerful wall street. But I can see you are not very far from reality. Just put in a little more effort. to understand the dynamics of the stock market you will be fine. I am talking from experience. |

Nigsrdumb: Investing in the Nigerian stock market is like throwing money into betnaija and hoping to get rich from it.
I looked at the entire market and found that it's not even robust enough, barely any meaningful companies other than the usual crony capitalists industries Sir I disagree. Don't equate stock investing and gambling/bet staking. In all economy of the world you can't separate the capital market and development. You may see stock investing as gambling if you don't take time to study how it works. Of course every venture or business will be like betnaija if you don't take time to learn the nitty-gritty of the venture. I can tell you those people you hear about in the society apart from their business they make money from the market. In fact their worth mostly are base on the holdings in the different company they invest in The major feature of the market is that it's risky but that doesn't mean it's gambling. It's because of this feature that make risk averse people resort to Tbills and other fixed income investments which is not bad at all. |

Also looking at the online farms that advertise investments as low as 60k for 8 months at 20% ROI For investment in agricultural produce.
Any encounters with these yet?
Looks okay. Contemplating. Investment is a way of life not a destination. For every meaniful investment there is always an objective to achieve by it. Whatever you are conformable with and it meets your objective with the inherent risk you go for it. Investment in most cases is perennial crop (useful economic trees) not cereals.. Tbills rates are down is an economic reality of our nation and subsequent polices of our policy makes. Let's thread carefully. Investment is not gambling with money but rather it means taking calculated risk. God will help us. |

eddyakinrinde: Happy December everyone, the year has been a good one for me investmentwise I must say and also a tough one in some ways. From 6.3m as at beginning of the year, I have bn able to grow my tbill investment to total 11m and additional 1m maturing in January to total 12m. It was indeed a tough rough path leading to this as I have had to deny myself various luxuries this year and several things I closed my eyes to not buy. But it worth it all. The increment was made possible by putting additional fund each month and reinvestment. But I made sure everything mature by Dec. So my fear now is going by the current downtrend in tbills rates I totally confused on what my next year investment plan would be. I have a food commodity business am into, the total money in the business is just around 3m. Definitely I will have to put more fund in the business from all this but cannot put all so I won't mismanage the money. Am just confused on how best to invest the rest in the new year. By the time everything gets matured in December, wait a while by keeping the funds in a short tenor Tbills. Must times within the 1st quarter in a given year you will get the direction things will go. |

alezzy13: Though surprisingly even with TBs still tumbling down 6-8%, mmf rates are generally doing quite well. As at last week almost all are still double digit:
AXA - 10.17 FBN - 11.44 ARM - 11.09 I/One - 11.2 Stabic - 10.4
Tho I dont know for how the rates will continue like this ooo mmf will always be a bit higher because apart from a major part of their fund invested in Tbills. They also invest in other money market instruments like commercial paper. Don't forget to PM me for details to invest in Abacus mmf with investment one. |

igbizen: I think Tbill rate is also affecting MMF Tbills rate will definitely affects mmf because mmf managers invest the major part of the funds available to them in Tbills in fact the 91 days tenor rate is used as bench mark for interest paid by the fund managers. This also go a long way to make us know that mmfs are regulated, structured and economy base investment. It's not a get rich scheme or out of the blues money making arrangements. If anyone is new to mmf I will advice don't be discourage better days are ahead. |

baroun04: I don't think so, I've been watching Closely, I suspect it's quarterly, if you ask them to reinvest, please prove me wrong I want to believe that it's the use of some investment terms that seems to make us differ here. Let's not confuse the terms Basically all mmfs I know accrue interest daily (interest earned daily). But the payment/reinvestment/compounding differ . From experience most mmf accrued interest daily but pay/compound/reinvest quarterly ie your daily accrued interest becomes part of your capital at the end of each quarter. It's only stanbic mmf that a different form of compounding/reinvestment apply. They do theirs randomly. They can reinvest today and do another in a week or the next day or two days etc. for instance they reinvested on 31st Oct, 12th and 14th Nov. that is Stanbic for you, but for others it's quarterly reinvestment. Let's be well guided. God bless all our efforts. |

Another thing please forgive this novice. Does accrued interest include weekends?(Saturday and Sunday) like does your investment grow even on weekends? Like Desanta already said it does and also includes public holidays. However, you get the accrued interest reflected the next business day. |
