BleedingPen: The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has rejected the outcome of Saturday's Edo Governorship, in which incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki was declared winner.
Igbere TV had on Sunday reported how Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, secured 307,955 votes to defeat Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the APC candidate, who got 223, 619 votes.
In a statement forwarded to Igbere TV, Sunday, the APC alleged foul play in election, but called on party members to stay calm "while party leaders study the result and decide what is next."
In the statement signed by the Chairman of the APC Media Campaign Council, Mur. John Mayaki, rejecting the result, the APC cited alleged strong arm tactics.
"Our people were arbitrarily arrested, many of the figures were fabricated," said the terse statement, which the party said was only a preliminary reaction.
It further alleged illicit tampering with results, to shore up PDP numbers and mark down APC's.
"Areas where we won, they cancelled them. They decreased the votes in areas we had advantage," the party further claimed. "They rejected our results and jerked up theirs."
Meanwhile, the party also claimed there was arbitrary arrest of local party members, who could have resisted the outrage, while Governor Godwin Obaseki was busy diverting attention with false alarm.
"Obaseki shouted that he was being rigged out and blamed INEC at the initial stage but that was to divert attention from the evil going on in the field", the statement said.
The party, however, told its members to stay calm, thanking them for their support, and adding that party leaders were studying the result and would announce their decision and course of action as soon as possible.
Ozo kind of love only exists in the western world that's where he is really going to be more appreciated not here in naija where people hearts are so hardened. Sleevia: From all indications, Obaseki has won this election but two things stood out unexpectedly
1. It was generally peaceful
2. There was zero federal might influence.
What do you think is the reason behind this?
I would hazard a guess and I am open to correction.
A: The U.S visa ban restricted federal influence, which Oshiomole, Ganduje and Tinubu were banking on. I was on twitter when I read that order has been given that there should be no interference in the election. This was why, after votes at the PU were done, all security agents, from Army to Police and others LEFT.
B. The Oba of Benin meeting. Before the election, Oba invited both contestants for a meeting where he specifically warned against violence in whatever form. I often read from outsiders that Oba of Benin is just like any oba out there but what majority do not know is the weight the Oba of Benin carries among his people and this election further proved that.
Since the APC took power, this is the most peaceful election we have had...
The question is WHY?

I am an indigene of Edo state. I am from Ikpoba okha LGA, ward 5, unit 28. The voting center is Oguola secondary school located at St saviour.
Aside the late arrival of electoral officers and materials, which was expected by the way, I experienced something very disturbing.
There was no privacy when voting. Party members were with us while we voted. PDP agents gave out N1000 to people who cast their vote for PDP while APC agents shared N1500 to voters voting their Party. The other political parties didn't give out money to the best of my knowledge.
Aside the disturbing trend of vote buying involving both PDP and APC party agents, another alarming trend was security personnel aiding these party agents or turning a blind eye. The security agents were aware,involved and aided party agents in vote buying.
The most disturbing of it all was the lack of privacy while casting your votes. Party agents had to see who one votes for before the ballot paper is inserted into the ballot box. I had to shout at these mad men before i was reward with 2seconds of privacy.
I'd love to write more, but I am tired and sad about the state of things. Nigerian has gone to the dogs.

A: The war was decided by the Frigate NNS Nigeria. Without NNS Nigeria,Biafra would have been able to ship in enough Arsenal's to checkmate the Federal Forces. Without the Frigate NNS Nigeria, Biafra could have busted the Federal blockade of Port Hacourt, the oil producing areas and the sea routes to that entity. In 1967, the Frigate, NNS Nigeria was innocently birthing off the coast of Warri. I was in command of the Naval Unit in ambush when some BIAFRAN stragglers pushing to bomb the ship. Actually their Recce leader had returned and reported that he had touched the tail of the ship. In that situation they were not to proceed untill I gave the orders. My friend Admiral Soroh was the Captain of NNS Nigeria, and I had to make a hasty decision. I ordered the officer to return to base. NNS Nigeria survived and later was to give hell to the BIAFRANS and eventually led to the effective cordoning off of the Bight of Biafra and coast operations in the Rivers and the Atlantic region of the war.

Indeed this election can be said to be the first of its kind with the new development. Gov. Obaseki is indeed a wise man.
The pdp have their own bad sides but I can boldly say that they are still light years ahead of the apc in almost everything.
They are really lucky that they are not in kaduna state, anambra state govt needs to also pass a bill to castrate rapists this will reduce rape incidents drastically in the state.

stephenduru: A lady identified as Ifeoma has died in police custody a day after she was arrested by SARS in Abuja.According to report, she was arrested when the officers came to arrest her fiance without seeing him. The legal team is accusing SARS of assaulting her sexually before killing her.
Kwanza: The Hotel where the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is lodging while on official assignment in Benin, Edo State has been held siege by over 300 Police men.

Less than 24 hours to Edo state governorship election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday cried out that its governors are being held hostage by police in the state.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the National Chairman of the Party, Prince Uche Secondus, who raised the alarm said that police have surrounded the Westend Hotel occupied by the PDP governors.
Secondus called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to order his men to vacate the hotel immediately.
He added that the governors lives are in danger, noting that the APC governors, who are also in Benin are not harassed.
Secondus alleged that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma and the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege are presently in the home of former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole.
He said: “The Policemen have surrounded the hotel and their lives are in danger. We call on IGP to ask the police to leave the place because their lives are in danger.
“If APC governors are in Benin, the PDP governors should be in Benin. Our governors would remain in Benin, no one can intimidate us.
“We are bringing this to the attention of the international community. Elections must be free and fair. Elections must be allowed to hold. You cannot allow APC governors in Edo and bar PDP governors.”

sapphiere: Suspected bandits have killed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Gidan Madi police station in Tangaza local government area of Sokoto state.
The incident happened on Thursday night, September 16. The gunmen also killed another police officer said to be the DPO's orderly before abducting two wives of a prominent businessman in the area.
According to a source, the marauders struck around 1.am. The policemen were ambushed and killed while trying to rescue the abductees.
Another account said that the bandits first stormed the station, killed the DPO and one inspector of police before abducting the housewives at their residence. It was said that the bandits went away with the guns of the slain officers.
The spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, ASP Muhammad Sadiq, who confirmed the attack to Daily Trust, said:
“At the moment, it is confirmed that there was an unwarranted attack on the Gidan Madi Divisional Headquarters last night. I enjoin us all to await further information on the attack at the conclusion of investigation that had already been directed by the Commissioner who is at the moment conducting an on the spot assessment of the Division, please."
Meanwhile, a member of the community Abdoul said the late DPO died while protecting people from the bandits.
"He died as a MAN. No words can express how i feel towards his departure, I didn't know him in person, but I knew his commitment to ensure lasting security in my local government," he wrote.

GreenAgain: Femi Adesina, a presidential spokesman, says right from amalgamation, Nigeria has been a divided country.
Speaking during a Channels TV programme on Wednesday Adesina said the division in the country predates the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He was reacting to comments made by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and Wole Soyinka, playwright and Nobel laureate, who said that Nigeria is more divided than ever before.
But defending the president, Adesina described Nigeria as an inconvenient amalgamation which has always been divided.
“Nigeria had always been divided right from amalgamation in 1914. Nigeria is an inconvenient amalgamation but we have kept at it and we have worked at it,” Adesina said.
“And I tell you that there is no time in the history of this country that the country was not divided. But then, we have kept at it and we are trying to make it work.
“As at 2015 when President Buhari came, Nigeria was terribly divided; divided along ethnic, religious and political lines; divided along language; divided hopelessly and terribly.”
The presidential spokesman, who said the current administration has been making efforts to unite the country, accused some people of “playing politics with everything.”
“That is the division that President Buhari has been working at. But you see that a number of people, instead of letting harmony return to this country, thrive and luxuriate in widening the gap between Nigerians. They play politics with everything,” he said.
“So, if they say Nigeria is divided today, it is because Nigeria has always been divided. And all efforts to unite Nigeria and Nigerians never worked.
“When Nigerians come to a decision point that we must live together, we can’t wish anybody away, then we will be working towards being a nation.”
