Good people,

Need an advice on this one. So I have been accepted on a short term lease with a landord and I would like a monthly receipt of payment for rent. Landlord does not have a copy. Does anyone know how we can get one? Or if you are a landlord, how do you issue receipts to your tenants on short term leases and can they tender such a receipt in the event of reimbursement?

Kind regards.

Lol Canada has become one unpredictable entity. Before covid we were sure of draws every two weeks. I met a lady that entered Canada via express entry with a score of 435 in 2018. Now even 481 (maxed IELTS, under 30, MSc and 3+ years foreign work experience )struggling to get ITA. Last last first mover advantage is the easiest. The amount of money people are spending on this canada matter now is funny because people spent just a fraction in 2019/2020 and some of them are citizens already.

Visa mining colleges are propping up sponsoring study visas in exchange for thousands of dollars annually and at the end lots of people will get into the pool with high scores. I reconnected with my good old friend and former classmate who spent about 10 years in USA (Bsc, Msc, MBA, Phd) but wasnt able to get permanent residency hence opted to move to Canada to study. Now at a college in Ontario studying for a two year diploma with the hope of getting a 3 year work permit and joining the pool after working for a year or two. Canada movement is draining cash. The day I paid CAD1,300 for my express entry visa application fee I was very angry because I felt it was too expensive and Naira/Cad was almost 400 . But now that I've spent over a year in Canada and seen people sell their house/cars to fund this Canada study movement I just thank God quietly.

It is indeed an expensive venture. Uou also have to budget for airbnb when you land.

Hahaha

It is remarkable. They always stand out like a sore thumb. I told my madam, I do not see that many "dudu" guys heading to Toronto from Paris. I told her, I bet you 50 bucks most are Nigerians and before you could say Jack, the screaming at the top of their voices started.

I was like, yep, baby, you owe me 50 bucks.

The japa is real but they can do it quietly.

So many Nigerians travel through Paris these days.

Saw loads of them last time we travelled to Toronto. They stood out. Rowdy and noisy.

I have this friend that lives in Germany (lets call him John). I connected John with a Nigerian girl in the UK in 2019. They matched and vibe well but as soon as she knew that he is not a German citizen or with PR, she just jilt the guy.

I was in the UK last summer and met with her. She was still single. She asked about John, and I told her that he is fine, done with his masters in engineering and works for Bosch. He is also a German citizen now.

It was few weeks later after my holiday John told me that she has been disturbing him since for a relationship, citing all kinds of excuses as reason why she suddenly cut off. Excuses such as mental health, dealing with personal and family issues etc.

But John is not an idiot. Anyways, John already moved on and will get married soon to his Ivorian/French fiance. I will be a best man for sure on his wedding. Na my sure paddi.

What I've seen in the UK few times I was there is the need to outsmart the other. The girls won't be with a guy that is just coming up. They date/marry for interest. That's the story of most.

They don't think ahead. If you do Uber today, then in their mind, you'll do Uber forever. It's either a ready-made or nothing. Working together with a guy and build up is almost an abomination. They don't build, the move in.

Whatever.

He dogged a bullet.

Hello everyone,
Trust we are all having a great weekend. Please is there anyone that knows how long it takes to process a PCC in the UK? I have submitted my application for about a month now and I have not gotten any response at all. I would also like to confirm if the medical assessment has to be completed before submitting a PR application. Thank you.

Mine and my wife's took about 4 weeks or so. It was delivered to us in France. If you are based in the UK, it should get to you quicker hopefully. 😉

Thank you. It is a very tough period for me. This is my second TEF and I’ve barely had a life since January. Aced IELTS in January, started studying for TEF and took the first in April. ‘Re-fired’ for this one in July. It’s a very expensive and stressful journey. I have two kids and have had to study all night for months. So you can understand why I at least won’t go down without a fight. Plus, asides that I didn’t finish, I am very confident that what I wrote was at least a band 7. I covered everything. I was adding a sentence to a paragraph when I got cut off. It is well though. Thank you for the response. I appreciate it. I have sent an email to the center explaining my case. I await feedback.

All the best. Keep speaking in French. Speak to people, record and listen to yourself. Use Google to see how you are faring, watch movies. Keep watching and writing.

Good morning sir/ma,
Trust we all had a lovely night rest

Thanks for this trend it's really informative and a source of motivation.

Pls I just saw what @enculer wrote
For me , I have a basic knowledge of french grammar rules, I can conjugate verbs, whenever I listen to french podcast I can understand like 30percent of the conversation, whenever I read a written french text I tend to understand not all ,but some to a good extent.

For now as I speak I have 24hrs to my daily for the next 3month .

Pls I have questions and I really need our boss & oga overhere to respond

1) how can I really immense myself within three months as enculer stated?

2) will it be wise for me to just start reading comprehension Ă©crite text as it will enable me understand written comprehension well rather than french newspaper website- my intention about learning French is to understand daily used french vocab.

3) @ eden2018 ones talked about his speaking habit shadowing and other pls I really need to improve my speaking ability our boss in the house how did you all do it?

4) comprehension orale pls what the trick behind to take my listening ability to the next level- I use podcast, but I thought of gathering as many exam specific I can lay my hands on will this help?

5) writing i read on page one and it really works- a guy testified " he prepared the essay and did active recall on it - he kept rewriting it which I feel made him immense the structure of the essay? Pls those who have written how did you all make a mastery of the task.

6) the "asking questions" I have downloaded the pdf my question is how did you all master the way of asking questions & the EXPRESSIVE TONE used in asking questions.

Sorry for the lengthy questions .

Thanks to Mummy Gracious words & everyone who has made this trend work.

You need a mentor for sure. Someone to guide you through. So if you have 24 hours, absolutely no excuse for you not to smash.

This is what I did in my early days learning French:

I attended a French church and I had a French Bible. Even though I did not understand all the sermon, the songs, the prayers, I continued loading my system.

I watched many French films and French series. "Le diner de cons" and "Paris Je t'aime" were my first. I also watched Kad Merad's movies.

Watch the news. Watch French news and news from Canada and Montreal in particular. Get used to French Canadian accents. Watch clips on the trains, the metro, airports, the cinema, French meteo. Get the transcripts from the news. I guarantee than if you do this, you will go very far.

I read many French kiddies books and graduated to leading adult books, novels, etc.

I joined forums on Facebook and read people's conversations, replies, etc. By just reading comments on the TEF Canada Facebook alone, you learn a lot. Ask for groups you can join.

I had French PenPals from a Polyglot site. One of the chics there ended up being my very good friend. Still friends till this day.

I had the advantage of being in the system so I was exposed to French everyday but if you are in naija, or in an anglophone country, no excuses. You got the Internet. You can connect with people. People need to learn English. Teach them English and they teach you French.

During the 3 months, see yourself as French, see yourself already speaking French and in Canada. Visualise your scores.

Above all, avoid the "branleurs". Too many branleurs exist especially in naija and they will steer you away from the path to success. Avoid many naija contents on FB. Waste of your precious time. They will steal your TEF Canada time. I had no "branleurs" to distract me.

All the best and hope we drink red wine to celebrate.

3months for a beginner’s point of view?

Depends on what you mean by a beginner. I would say someone with A2 level can crack TEF Canada in 3 months. If the person has a full time job, then that is a different story altogether.

In the end, the most important thing is the dedication and focus, the timeline is just a guide.

This data go take time to clean and compute. My only issue with TCF for now is that I haven't seen a satisfactory number of official past papers (don't have enough comfort). It's almost like they are in a vault somewhere. I think I'd take my time to scour the official TEF website and compare. Without past exam papers, I am toast.

There are definitely past questions available. I might still have some in my vault. The TEF Canada Facebook site is golden as it has past questions in all the sections.

If I was a naija person planning on getting high scores, I would concentrate my time and effort for 3 solid months on TEF Canada. No playing around no wasting time with jokers or with people who cannot help you. You would get a min of C1 if you are dedicated.

If someone said they do not have enough time, I ask for a breakdown of how they spend their weekdays and weekends. From their response, I usually see why. They are not yet serious.

@GraciousWords, please do you know anyone who has requested for an appeal in any of the sections of TEF Canada? If yes, did they get a resit or remark?

Thanks.

I’ll appreciate if anyone has an experience on this topic as well.

Thank you house.

I would be interested as well. I think the marking is suspect. I use myself as case study and I am fully convinced there is some funny stuff going on. Do what you have to do. I wish you the best. Try posting in the TEF Canada Facebook page to get a wider coverage.

Funny how I'd advice the exact opposite and say take TCF instead. grin
I haven't written yet though, so I have no grounds to base anything on.lol

You have a good point.

Some people seem to think that TCF is easier. I have a very good level of French and I live in the country, work in the language and have seen people take both exams. Many people on the French TEF Facebook group feel the same.

I have written both exams in the past (general versions) but not for immigration purposes but rather to test my knowledge of French. I had a C2 in expression orale back then in both exams. I scored lower than C2 in the comprehension bits though.

In the end, it is about passing and passing well. There are fine margins.

If I had a candidate with B1 level of French I would advise them to go for TEF Canada rather than TCF given the TEF resources available.

The truth is without past questions, TEF texts would appear tougher than the TCF ones, considering the time.

Candidates can go for whichever one they feel would give them points.

I am interested in seeing scores. Let candidates post their TCF and TEF scores and let us see what the performance is like.

My personal advice to those thinking TCF or TEF, please go for TEF.

The questions are repeated for TEF unless they have changed things since I wrote in 2019.

This helped me make C2 in both comprehesion orale and ecrite. It also helped me smash my French Nat exam. Some questions from TEF Canada were repeated in the TEF Frech Nat exam.

I coached my wife for the French Nat Exam in 1 week and she made B2 in comp ecrite. He French was not good. Past questions helped.

You can also crack the expression ecrite. The expression orale is as the discretion of the examiner. If you have a "tĂȘte de bite" as an examiner, they will screw you.

In all go for TEF Canada. If you are a serious student, you will smash. If I could teach my wife to smash in 1 week imagine if you have been studying for months.

All the best.

One piece of advice, stop saying "bon courage". It is a negative word but people do not realise cause they follow others like sheep. You can say "bon chance", or better still, wish the person success. "Bon courage" sounds like the person is going to hell and you are telling him/her to hold forth whilst there, like saying "stay strong in hell". Wish them success rather.

How did you navigate getting a temporary accommodation when you landed?

If one needs a temporary accommodation (a house) for 3 months in Ontario for example, do you just pay upfront for the 3 months on airbnb or are there any short lease alternatives?

I noticed that some people sees use of WhatsApp for calls as unprofessional.

I prefer WhatsApp calls to normal voice calls because it's more cheaper and also helps save normal call airtime for lines that are not registered on WhatsApp.

A woman refused to engage me in business discussion because I called her via WhatsApp. She feels I'm not serious or professional enough.

Do you have any issues with WhatsApp calls for business/official purposes?

Cheaper and not "more cheaper"

I am usually critical of these kind of advisors, it is always better to err on the side of caution than to regret that a meagre 40k spilled the milk. In the grand scheme of things, I will submit even the one that was not asked than to be calculating like Nigeria at every World Cup group stage.

I know someone who thought she had met this PCC conditions like you stated, an Italian to be precise, her family application was rejected and she was only lucky to get another chance due to the low scores for CEC during Covid.

Since you are a prospective PR holder, I will say you should be careful of your “expertise” advice as this could mean grave consequences to many.

Err and err again on the side of caution, to be candid my Spouse doesn’t need a Police report for Canada but after consulting with my egbon Aestake here, She still provided the PCC for Canada.

Nice quote. Like Nigerians do at the world cup. LOL
