you cannot manually input showtime key into strong receiver because the key is 36digits and strong as a space for 16.@mide & gangsta I am very sure you can manually input those keys into the Strong receiver. Keys usually come in two formats both of which amount to the same thing. When the key is in the 32 character format, it is called the Dec key; when it is in the 16 Character format it is called the Hex key. On the Strong the keys are to be entered in the Hex format therefore if the key you have is in the Dec format all you need to do is to convert it using a Hex to Dec key converter which you can find on the Net (or even on some computers and phones). @gangsta Your keys must be out of date; try finding and loading latest keys -- correctly. |
Regarding Showt*me and ART and keys generally 1. Keys change frequently; sometimes once a day; sometimes several times a day; one provider even used to change keys every ten minutes; whereas some providers do not change keys for weeks or months 2. It seems that the Showtime keys are currently changing at least once a day (I am not currently getting Nilesat, so I don't know the situation completely) 3. This means that those who want Showtime must keep going to sites that post keys to find out what is happening and the latest keys and load them --- either by remote or by softcam 4. Remember if loading a patch or softcam, you must ensure that it is compatible with your receiver, otherwise you might have problems. 5. It is possible that some receivers have patches that can auto-roll Showtime keys; you will just have to search the Net for information about your own brand of receiver. 6. People who keep saying 'give me patch' should go back a few pages on this thread because I am sure that the address of one or two sites to get keys etc have already been posted! |
OK pitodenz You don't need to keep loading manufacturer's software unless really necessary; for example if a new software is released which improves the previous one. Note also that if you load manufacturer's software, your receiver will no longer open encrypted channels unless you load a patch again. I know how to revive a 'dead' receiver using the RS232 (null modem) cable; I will explain it and you might adapt it using the USB flash. 1. Switch off your receiver 2. Connect the cable to computer and receiver 3. Open/Start the Loader programme on the computer 4. Use Loader programme to find the software you want; either a working patch or manufacturers' software 5. Then switch on the receiver The receiver will then load the software from the computer; if the software is good software, it will revive the receiver. I'm not sure how to adapt this procedure using a USB flash; maybe just get the cable and follow the procedure I described. |
Hello peeps Difference between patches and softcam and keys: Patch = operating software but not the original software of the manufacturer; it is usually produced by third parties; it allows the receiver to do certain things including (a) to accept softcams; (b) to have keys entered; (c) to use cards of different encryption systems. Softcam = small or mini software which contains keys; it allows keys to be entered through a computer or through a USB flash - instead of entering the keys manually by remote Keys = codes that open some TV channels; can be entered manually through the remote or by loading softcam Notes: 1. For now, most people in Naija only need to patch the receiver once; after that you can enter new keys into the receiver by remote or by softcams; however sometimes, a new more powerful patch comes out for some receivers which means that when that patch is loaded you don't need to enter keys manually or by softcam as the patch will auto-roll (AU) new keys as and when necessary; in that case it is better to load that new patch. 2. Whether powerful patch, softcams or manual keys -- they all only last for a short time because the TV providers change things frequently. It is a cat n mouse game. Got to go out now; back in 15 minutes to answer some queries especially for Pitodenz. ![]() |
@Enitan I don't expect free2view to encrypt since it seems they are specialising in FTA; on the other hand they might not have rights to, or show, football matches whose transmission would normally be encrypted. |
Pitodenz & Mide Strong softcam: _http://www.sat-television.com/showthread.php?t=2150&page=26 or home page _http://www.sat-television.com/ Showtime/Art: _http://alsat.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=973 or home page _http://alsat.co.uk/forum/index.php Both sites will require you to register to get access to those specific pages. @all Remember please do not post keys on this forum; also any link to key sites should be dead links with an underscore _ as I did above. |
@toxnaija & Enitan Edited It does look like both the wide beam and Middle East beam of Nilesat might be possible on a 90 dish in Senegal; also at the same 7w location is Atlantic Bird 4 and the wide beam of that also seems possible on a 90 in Senegal but its own Middle East beam will probably require a large dish even there. (Although there are three birds at 7w/7.2w i.e. Nilesat 101 + 102 + Atlantic Bird 4, sometimes they are all just called Nilesat for shorthand). Actually, the official beam prediction of Nilesat by Lyngsat etc seems to be more pessimistic than the reality. It used to be advised that you need a very large dish here in the UK but we have found out that with a 100cm dish we can lock the V transponders (and even some H) in southern UK, I have even locked it but with no picture on an 80cm dish once. |
For those who can get Nilesat, apparently there are new keys currently working for ART and Showtime! |
@ptbs According to DSTV's website, TV Globo on Sesat is on a beam that does not ordinarily cover Nigeria though one never knows if a very large dish would do it. Also it is on Intelsat 7 but in C Band which again will require a large dish. See the link below and place your cursor on the beam information to the left of the map of Africa. http://www.dstv.com/channelshift/Channels/tvglobo.html Edited: however, TV Globo is also on Hispasat 30w (though encrypted); I think pitodenz may be able to advise if you can receive Hispasat in Port Harcourt. (Also, occasionally the keys for TV Globo on Hispasat and on Hotbird get known, though they don't last for long; if you want to subscribe to that one it will be through TV Cabo in Portugal - google it) |
90cm dish with 1 lnb and showing HITV and DSTv, this definitely shows that you are on eutelsat W3A@Enitan I'm sure you meant W4 at 36e; and I think you are right that Azeezbaba's other dish with 2 LNBs is probably receiving Nilesat (7w) and NSS7 (22w). You are also right that patches will not currently open a lot if anything (other than eTV which might even be FTA now anyway) easily receivable in West Africa for now. Showtime is usually the most useful but there are no public keys for the moment as far as I know; there have also not been keys for Canalsat for some time as I understand it. But as long as one is careful and follow right procedures, patching the receiver should not be a problem. |
@Azeezbaba For Strong software/patches, try the following sites: http://www.maldiviandigital.com/forum69/ http://wizkid.persiangig.com/ If you go back through the pages, some other links were posted by other guys. As for procedure, I haven't done a Strong receiver before but generally: - first you have to download a 'Loader' Programme (you may need to unzip or unrar it) - then you download the latest patch for your particular receiver (again maybe unzip/unrar) - then start up the Loader programme and in that programme select the patch and upload it to your receiver. I hope someone who has done a Strong receiver before will come along and give more/better info. |
Very impressive stories here!!!! Guys have really been doing well, really throwing it down; and success stories with the more difficult W3A too; fantastic!!! @ mygee MyTV i.e Intelsat 7/10 is at 68.5e whereas W3A is at 7e. This means that, standing at the back of your dish, W3A will be to the right. You can try moving the dish by anything from about 6-12 inches (roughly) to the right, from the back of the dish. PS Don't forget that the elevation has to be quite high, somewhere around 80 on the scale on the side/back of the dish; in other words the dish face has to be raised high. |
Been away from here awhile. Welcome to all new members esp toxnaija and justx24 and again to peacenlove. @peacenlove Fire away any questions here and I'll do the best i can with it @toxnaija let us hope that the move of Fox to Middle East is good news though some people think we should be worried about it; the reason is that the group of which Fox is a part is usually pushing Pay TV and really anti FTA; the main concern is that they may threaten the genuine good FTA channels of MBC. @justx24 We need a bit more information before we can establish 100% the satellite that you are on: go into two of the channels you can see; for each one, press 'Info' or something similar on your remote and write down the Frequency and Symbol Rate and post them here; also list some of the encrypted channels for us; with those, we should be able to identify the satellite. @ pitodenz and anyone who can get W3A 7e Please scan 10963 H 3249 and report back if anything comes up |
@Enitan Feed frequencies also have footprints. In the link at the bottom you will see that several known feed frequencies on W3A have European footprints while about 2 or 3 towards the end have an African footprint. You can start by scanning the feed frequencies with African footprint. Beyond that you can do occasional 'blind scan' (if your receiver has it) and also check on Satelliweb occasionally to see what new feeds there are. Note feeds are not always active and most of the time there will be nothing on feed frequencies; that is why it is interesting to get them at the right time. http://www.lyngsat.com/ew3a.html |
@Gangsta and twinstaiye The sticky idea is a very good idea - a kind of beginner's guide and general info. @Gangsta I only started this in late 2006; what happened was I was living in Egypt and FTA is very popular there but I still had no experience at installing dishes though I started learning the theory - I even asked some questions on this very forum at that time. I started experimenting when I got back to the UK later that year; now I know quite a lot and I have installed dishes for myself and for friends and I am still continually tinkering with my own set up! PS @twinstaiye and Enitan I hope to be in Naija in July/August and may be able to help buy a couple of motors if you guys are still interested around then. |
Enitan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've misunderstood slang; he means he must get W3A as well!!!!!!!!! Meanwhile, to know where the feeds are, you can start by using lyngsat and flysat for the frequencies. For feeds across the arc use this link: http://www.satelliweb.com/index.php?section=livef |
See this one too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_JIWeUxtug&feature=related Edit: The one in link below is quite cool: I think that one would be using a 'jack' rather than the diseqc motor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzTq4dCKL3s&feature=related |
The motor automatically adjusts both the elevation and azimuth; see the youtube video in the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZdoVpcz8fA As to how to install it, it is not that difficult but it must be systematic and follow certain principles to get the best results. There is a very good guide with pictures in the link below: http://www.techwatch.co.uk/forums/9120-installing-a-motor-with-photos.html |
Yeah, there is limitation for a multi LNB set up in Nigeria because of the distance between the satellites that can be received on a 90cm dish. Most dishes can only do about a 30 degrees difference for multi LNB though there are some that can do more e.g. the Toroidal Wave frontier T90. AS for the motor, they are generally tough kits and will not have problems zapping between satellites except that like any other motor equipment wear and tear will of course set in at some point; but even with frequent use, it should still last for quite some time - a number of years. One disadvantage of a motor is that when moving between satellites, it takes some seconds for picture to appear while the motor moves -- unlike diseqc switching which is instant in multi-LNB or multi-satellite set up. On that dish in the picture, when I move to 24.5w, I can watch NTA here in the UK ![]() Finally, on your earlier question regarding RDV and football, just enjoy the footie for as log as they don't encrypt or black out the picture; I don't really know why they currently leave it open - but it is good news for as long as it lasts. Finally I think peacenlove was asking about Canalsat on 22w; well it is in Seca 1, I think, but it is not open as the keys are not known. |
Peacenlove Welcome n wish you the best when you visit West Africa. BTW I saw the same question asked on Alsat but I didn't get involved since guys there were already giving useful suggestions. To add to what Enitan has said: first, it is not really necessary to ship dishes over as you can buy them cheaply enough in Nigeria and prolly in Ghana too. Second, I suspect the receiver you've shipped over is a Technomate which should work with Conax and Irdeto used in Nigeria though GTV in Ghana uses NDS/Videoguard which might be a problem. Strong receivers are popular in Nigeria because Strong targeted the market with Irdeto/Conax enabled receivers suitable for the encryption systems used locally. Hitherto cards are not married to receivers though there are suggestions that DSTV might start doing this. PS why do you need three dishes for 13e, 19e & 28e in the UK? They can be done on one dish with multi-LNBs or motorised! @Enitan and bodejohn et al As requested/for interest I attach a photo of a dish on a motor ('dish mover') - one of my recent projects/installations. The motor is the Moteck SG2100A.

Google dilligently; otherwise it is sold on ebay for about £2 - (i.e. 500 Naira). |
@twinstaiye What is the size of the dish? @urfriend The problem regarding Mbc is probably not to do with the receiver but that the dish needs to be adjusted i.e. aligned more accurately. |
Enitan, how're you doing? The Skylogic and Open Sky referred to on W3A are probably Internet services and not TV channels. Meanwhile, also regarding in-line amplifiers --- there is a widely held view that they often only amplify 'noise' rather than signal quality; they are worth a try but those trying them should not raise hopes too high. @mygee33 The channels with funny details probably use circular polarity rather than linear polarity -- not that I really understand the technical details myself, to be honest. |
Got me too ![]() |
vickoy That is very helpful; thanks a lot and well done. ![]() |
@heartsocle First, go into the menu of your receiver and do a 'scan' of the Intelsat/Pas 10 satellite. Then please come back and list the channels you can currently receive. Also, note: your 90cm dish is not big enough to get Nilesat in most of Nigeria; and, to get Eutelsat 7e you will have to move the dish which means you will lose Intelsat/Pas 10; to get the two you will need a second dish. |
Many people believe that TBN = "The Blasphemy Network" because of the preponderance of false doctrine and also the fleecing of the flock that takes place on it. Do a google search on it to see the views of both supporters and opponents of TBN. |
in need of strong latest software is because of dstv card marriage.i heard dstv is going to shut down cards that re not married after they finished their marriage stuff.i later download form another receiver in other to access 6969 but the software is downgraded.i need 2008 strong receiver software that can still access 6969.See post numbers 727 and 728 above. |
i downloaded the latest strong software from strong website and to my amazement all the software there cannot access 6969 or 8282 but the software is more current than the one we re using plzz anybody who has any idea where i can download latest strong software which can also access 6969 should plz help.pitodenz Manufacturer's original software do not support things like 6969 or 8282 which is why the receiver needs to be 'patched' with modified software. (It's like if a phone is unlocked and you then put back original software which 'locks' it again!) Your options are to find the correct patch from the Net and load it again to your receiver or to find someone who has the same receiver but with a modified/patch software and transfer from that to yours. You can search the website/forum in the link below to see if you can find the right 'patch' for your receiver. http://www.maldiviandigital.com/forum69/ |
why is it that most stations coming down to ku-band at the atlantic zone are either moving to Eutelsat W4 36e or Pas7/10 ku at 68.5e and not NSS7 at 22w, is it that there're no more available transponder on nss7.Though I don't know for sure, I think it's down to basic economics. Many people in Naija already had DSTV which is on 36e; providers to Naija market will calculate that if they put their own channels on 36e then the people who already have DSTV dishes do not need to get another dish; remember also that some people have DSTV dishes but do not always renew their DSTV subscription; they can then possibly subscribe to other services on 36e without having to put on another dish. The same is true to a slightly lesser extent for 68.5e as MyTV has been operating from there for a couple of years or so (as well as some FTA channels) and, again, providers to Naija market will calculate that those who already have MyTV dishes will be easier to attract to other provisions on 68.5e. |
@bodejohn You are correct that Ku band LNB will work on dishes that are supposed to be "C Band". In fact a dish is not either C band or Ku band. A dish is just a dish and should work with C or Ku Band LNBs. However, generally C band satellite/frequencies require larger dishes --- thus our 90cm dishes are usually no good for C band satellite/frequencies. I think C band dishes start from about 1.8 (maybe 1.2?) dishes. Maybe more interesting for you though is that there are now LNBs that can do both C and Ku band i.e. combined C/Ku (dual) band LNBs, see examples in links below: http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Order/LNBFS/C-Band-LNBF.htm http://www.cyberestore.com/bsc6212-lnbf-both-bands-p-233.html |
