@constantk

We explained before on the main thread that loading or re-loading official firmware (software) will result in 'openable' encrypted channels not being opened again. Your choices for getting back etv:

1. find someone who has the same receiver and which currently opens etv; then do a software transfer from that receiver to your receiver; you need appropriate data cable, possibly RS 232, to do this; or

2. find the appropriate 'patch' (unofficial software) for your receiver on the Net; and load it into your receiver (you also need cable or maybe USB disk); if you go back through the thread, people have posted where software can be found on the Net.

@gangsta

Predasaur (edited: aka Predasaurus) is the name for software used with the T-Rex CAM.

The first question to ask is when did PM News become a RELIABLE source? We should all cheek sources before speaking for or against any subject.
This is true and a good point. However:

1. for some time now, some of the big-name American televangelists have been doing this very thing
2. the principle of the idea can be debated
3. if the story is untrue, the RCCG should come out and refute it; not only that, it might be useful if the RCCG lets the public know where they stand on the principle of a private jet for "ministry".

In any event, see also post 188 on page 6 by Guk saying:

THE PM GUYS ARE NOT TRYING TO SELL THEIR STUFF BY COOKING YOU STORIES. I was at a meeting on Thursday the 5th of June 2008 at the Redemption Camp after the monthly Holy Communion service where Pastor Adeboye outlined upcoming work needed to be done in propagating the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It was at this meeting that he mentioned the need to us for acquiring an Aeroplane.

To equate the colt that Jesus rode upon on one occasion for a short trip in order to fulfill biblical prophecy, even as He was just days away from His passion and crucifixion, is to swallow hook, line and sinker (without adequate biblical understanding) the lies and deceit perpetrated by the likes of Duplantis, Price, Avanzini, Hinn, Copeland etc.

In His day to day ministry, how many times did Jesus ride a donkey or anything else? In any event, is it really sensible to equate a baby donkey with a private jet ---- by any method of conversion of old values into modern values?

How many times did any of the apostles Peter, James, Paul, John etc claim that they needed whatever the equivalent of a private jet is in order to travel to spread the gospel?

Oh, and really --- go to these Nigerian churches abroad and have a proper look at the members/people in the congregation and ask yourself how much they have really spread the gospel to the general population of the country concerned. Instead most of the congregation are Nigerians many of whom were already members of the church from Nigeria plus a smattering of other Africans/black people with very very few members, if any, of the general population of the country concerned. (Granted, there are one or two exceptions).

As I said before, if these pastors/GOs want (not need) a private jet and their flock are foolish enough to pay for it, let them all at it. What some of us cannot abide is the false argument that it is needed to "spread the gospel" or the lies and misinterpretations of the Bible that having a private jet is equivalent to what Jesus or any of the apostles did.

Well said and well made points; unfortunately the prosperity "gospel" is blinding in its attraction as a result of people's desire for material things and earthly treasures. People who subscribe to it simply have difficulty accepting or sometimes even properly understanding the message of passages like those you quoted from 1 Timothy.

This is where the prosperity "gospel" is so sad ---- it makes people focus on that which Christ taught us not to pay attention to and to ignore those things which Christ taught us to focus upon.

Regarding Kenneth Copeland: if only all those who truly seek to follow Christ realise the devilish nature of some of the things he has taught they will wonder if Copeland really believes in God/Christ at all but is rather a cretin* taking people for a ride.

* Yes, I use the word cretin deliberately.
Christianity EtcRe: Adeboye Shops For $20m Jet by Enigma(m): 7:51pm On Jul 16, 2008
That some modern day pastor or GO (or have they now become G O D?) can expect his flock to fund a private jet for 'evangelism' is one of the logical consequences of the "prosperity gospel". You will not find such a thing resulting from the true gospel taught in the Bible. You will not read of Jesus, Peter, James, Paul or any other apostle doing such a thing --- it is simply antithetical to the true gospel. But as for the prosperity gospel? Sure it is almost a competition nowadays and prosperity preachers all over the world have to show each other they have truly arrived --- and one of the ways they are doing it is this private jet scam. Well, if their flock are gullible er erm happy enough to pay for such folly, let them all at it!

Actually, you guys are right; it is not a very good idea to post one's email address on the Net; in some forums the admins will even remove it.

Anyway, as for Nilesat the packages that people open with patch/keys are ART/Showtime and I think the patches/keys for opening them are currently down and not working ---- though I haven't really kept up to date especially as I don't currently get Nilesat.

I have checked on the Axil RC 107 but cannot as yet find any information on patching it. It probably does not have much unofficial support by way of patches --- in fact provider-supplied receivers are usually useless in terms of patches. I believe that you probably can get official software through HITV or at that locura.com - which of course is probably unnecessary anyway. BUT, more importantly, be careful because as the RC 107 seems to be designed to do both terrestrial and satellite reception its software might not be compatible with yours (assuming yours can't do terrestrial). It does not help that most info about the RC 107 is in Spanish although you can also search under its alternative model name i.e. TBoston DTT 8300.

Yep, the spider and LNB scenario is one of the amusing (sometimes annoying) aspects of sat TV

@F_Marshall and biggjoe

Yes, there are different types of flat-pack antennas; the crucial thing is whether the gain is sufficient to equal the dish size required for a particular satellite since even the flat pack still has to be aligned. Some chap here says he wants to get one to experiment and if he does so and gives a report I will pass it on. However, bear in mind that the satellite that he wants to try (28e) can be received over here 'on a plate used for eating rice' as compared to trying to get a difficult sat like Nilesat.

Thanks for that and well done on your set up; it's a very good set up and with the Diseqc switch you have the advantage that you don't have to wait to switch between channels as in when using a motor. Actually, some pages back I also posted photos of a multi-LNB set up using a diseqc switch.

Have you tried scanning the other frequencies on Nilesat or is it that they just do not come in? Also, did you buy the dish in Abuja there and how much?

I am just wondering if that dish will also be able to get Nilesat in Lagos.

Something to monitor and keep an eye on:

An African beam/footprint has been identified for Sirius 4.8 which very easily covers Nigeria and West Africa.

Unfortunately no frequencies on the beam are known yet but who knows what might happen in future.

Edited: if anyone wants to find the satellite, one frequency that has been suggested is 12604 V 27500.

Fani-Kayode told the committee that in spite of the battles he had with the cult group within the industry, he was able to put in place some measures such that his tenure did not record a single plane crash.

The former minister washed his hands of the alleged misappropriation of the N19.5 billion Aviation Intervention Fund, claiming that he rather left N7 billion in the accounts of the ministry at the time he left.

http://www.tribune.com.ng/01072008/news/news1.html NigerianTribune newspaper of today.
The Tribune's news reporters that wrote the story obviously have very poor comprehension --- an inability to put figures of speech in context. It is also rather a shame that most people commenting on this thread did not read the story properly ---- separating Fani-Kayode's own words (as quoted) from the nonsense written by the reporters.

An aside: this poor basic comprehension is also reflected in how our people (supposedly educated people) are easily fooled by for example false pastors twisting the Bible to teach the very opposite of what the Bible actually teaches.

Sorry, I have not yet been able to read that forum you referred properly. Maybe by the weekend, I will be able to go through it. (I could even have been wrong about the price because the older Dreamboxes e.g. the 500s may actually be that cheap though the 700 series I expect to be more expensive than the price you quoted ---- nevertheless it is well known that there are still indeed many fake Dreamboxes about it; they can be OK with the right software, the one to avoid for the moment being Gemini images).

As someone said above, the Dreamboxes out there now ordinarily do not do 'fishing'. They are mainly Linux boxes that make entering codes etc somewhat easy ---- though to master the machines themselves takes time and patience. They are also used for card sharing by being connected to the Internet and an appropriate server. There is a new Dreambox that has been due for some time i.e. the 8000; maybe when that is released it will have the 'fishing' capability or as someone also said above, maybe the existing ones can also be modified to do it; I don't really know.

As I said before, I don't really get involved in 'fishing'; also I don't get involved in card sharing either.

@Gangsta

The DVB cards are meant for use with a PC not laptops; I don't know if there is any mod to make them work with laptops.

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free to Air codes by Enigma(m): 8:48pm On Jun 25, 2008
Keys preparation is a specialist job --- but at the least the person must know about computer programming e.g. C+ etc.

I think if you search the Net you might find software programmes that were used in the past for the older encryption systems. Modern encryption, as I understand it, is far more difficult. In fact it has been alleged that in some cases one provider employs specialist hackers to 'reverse engineer' encryption systems of competitors and that they then arrange the release of the compromising of that system. In short it involves money and time - which is why sometimes when an encryption is compromised, it is not immediately available to receivers but on CAMs which are sold at a price.

If you are interested in some of the politics and have time, you can google the next three words: NDS Echostar hack.

Christians are NOT required to tithe; you will not find it in the Bible --- and I am familiar with Malachi 3 and all the rest of it.

At best, 'tithing' is optional. The Bible requirement of the Christian is cheerful free will giving "as he purposes in his heart".

People have just been deceived or misled into an unbiblical superstition by the false/erroneous teachings that tithing is required of the Christian.

I can now receive up to 40 channels with my 4653x, 90cm+60cm dish connected to intelsat 7, 10 , eutelsat w4 and hotbird.
Unless you are in very far North Africa or Europe, you are not receiving Hotbird. What you are seeing on 'Hotbird' is signal from the satellites that you can really receive e.g. W4 or Intelsat 7/10; this happens because of similar frequencies.

The test is this: can you receive any of the Hotbird channels as listed in the link below?

In the spirit of my above post grin

@benzion

If you look carefully you will see that the satellites listed in your receiver each has a position in the sky (orbital position) designated in the form of degrees. For example MyTV is on satellites called (and abbreviated as) Intelsat 7/10 whose orbital position is 68.5 degrees east. On the other hand DSTV is on W4 at 36east. Most dishes with just 1 LNB (and which are not motorised) can only get one orbital position --- in your case 68.5. Also in your case to get other satellites, you need either more dishes or to motorise one dish.

So for now concentrate on the channels in the link given by Biggjoe.

Welcome home; nice to have you back.

I also see the merit of having an entire forum for Naija/Africa FTA; in fact it would reduce the problem of newcomers asking for help on matters that had been addressed. How easy it is for Seun to set up, I don't know. On the other hand, what I do is to bear the limitation of a thread (as opposed to a full forum) in mind when newcomers ask for help (somewhat tediously) on a matter that had already been addressed.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free to Air codes by Enigma(m): 8:21pm On Jun 18, 2008
Yeah, I also thought since the discussion has started here it is better to pursue it here so that anyone reading can get the full picture. If need be we could do a shorter version on the other thread.

For BISS keys (and DCW) there is no need to input CAID/Provider ID or such at all. All you need to do is to associate a particular set of BISS/DCW keys with a particular channel(s). So you go to the channel; press 8280; look for a free line; enter the keys (it may be 16 or it may be 32 long; Biss keys can be either); save; exit.

You should not have deleted the pre-existing Biss keys; although you probably haven't lost a lot if the channels that they are for are on satellites that you cannot currently receive. Also the Strong receiver is quite generous with Biss allowance of up to 60; the older TMs have space for only 20 (ETA though the new ones also do 60 like the Strong)!

Finally, although I'm not keeping fully up to date with it (because I don't get Nilesat), I don't think JSC channels are open on most receivers; I get the JSC channels occasionally on Hotbird but not presently.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free to Air codes by Enigma(m): 8:18pm On Jun 16, 2008
Ah Ok Gangsta, I see what's happening.

BISS and DCW keys are slightly different from the regular keys and go into a different slot. Again, I don't know the structure of the Strong receiver but I'll use the TM to demonstrate.

For BISS keys you have first of all to go to the particular channel e.g. JSC+1; then press 8280 and the Biss (same as DCW) key menu will come up; then you look for a free line (or a line that you know is not associated with any channel); and then you enter the keys; save and exit.

You can also check if you will see the Biss menu from the general menu; press menu-system information-Biss; again best to go there from the channel you want to open.

Is it confirmed that JSC (7w) is open via keys?

Ground mount is a structure that can be placed on the floor/patio (i.e. ground) for a satellite dish to be 'mounted' on it; see examples in link below:

http://www.blake-uk.com/page/commercial_sat_mounts/commsatpatiomounts

@olofofo

Maybe pitodenz and others who have experience of Nilesat and large dishes will be along with suggestions; but you can check if the dish elevation is correct by checking on (type your location and the satellite you want i.e. Nilesat into) www.dishpointer.com.

It may be that you also need to adjust the positioning and skew of the LNB; or as some have said, taking out the scalar ring/dielectric; just try various things really.

cool
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free to Air codes by Enigma(m): 2:11pm On Jun 12, 2008
@Gangsta

Yes, basically what you suggest is correct. Also you need to study your receiver carefully to see how they structure the keys for Showtime and ART. I don't have a Strong receiver so I don't know how it is structured but I think it is similar to the Technomate 1000 series. On the TM 1000s, this is how they are structured:

ART/&Phela

CAID = 060400

06 xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx
56 xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx

That is key 06 for ART even though you have both 06 and 56.
Thus if you have Key 06 xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx, you break it down into two parts to fill the o6 and 56 to make the 06 key.

There can also be Key 08 (which is then broken into 08 & 58); or 02 (= 02 & 52)

On the TM 1000s Showtime's CAID is 060401; and the Keys are 06 (06 & 56), 08 (08 & 58).

So you have to study the receiver. Actually, if you download softcam, you can actually open it in your computer (like a notepad document) and see how the keys are structured in the softcam and that will help to know how to manually enter them. Alternatively, just load the latest softcam for your receiver then have a look through the key menu to see how they have been structured.

Hope this helps.

The site to check for which channels are showing football is:

Some Nilesat channels e.g. Al Jazeera are showing it but most are encrypted; on 7E (W3A) check 2STV, RTS and ORTM, if you can get them.

PS place cursor over each channel to find out which satellite the channel is on; the ones coloured red are the free stations.
