FirstCounsel: Cheers mate. Any clues on where the Area E commander was redeployed to? I have been searching for the news....thanks Hahahaha! Bros! i am not an officer in any of our armed or security forces o! I just enjoy military histories, sciences and precision.. |

FirstCounsel: Sir you obviously don't understand the operational mode of the military. No officer in command of troops would deploy them without authorization from senior commanding officers who in turn must have cleared with their respective Chiefs at Abuja. You want them to be court martialed? You need to understand how coups started in the past to understand that there are tough restrictions on matters like this. Mind you I KNOW what I am saying Correct..Your head dey dia! |

modath: But unfortunately, we do not have a police force, unless we keep lying to oursleves.
What we have is a mediating force... Imagine them settling marital disputes(not assault, just pack comot, I nor dey pack) & drawing debts..
Tell me how that kind of police can be efficient...
They should have heeded their call & sort out jurisdiction later, our situation is peculiar in this country & USA should not be our yardstick. The honest truth is that most people would fret seeing our soldiers engaging in gun battles on any of our streets..Moreover, the military protocols or rules of engagements are very strict and precise. Personally, i will freak out seeing soldiers shooting on my street.. On NPF issue, they need to be overhaul entirely especially their commando (SARS) units. |

Willhenry123: nigerians should stop abusing the use of our armed forces. I have seen a situation in US (new Orleans) when a platoon of soldiers came across a robbery and called 911. They didn't lift a finger as its not their duty. But in Nigeria, simple armed robbery you go see army, navy, airforce, police, roadsafety, civil defence, opc, vigilante, etc. Abeg robberies are the perogative of the police to handle. Exactly. Please read this comment modath. |

modath: Not their jurisdiction but when its elections, its ok for soldiers to be on the streets!!
Like we have a police force, what we have is an outfit that settles marital disputes & debts arguments... Am sure that they did not deploy themselves during the elections. Looking at it logically, having the soldiers on security duties during the elections was planned and with all the necessary clearance(s) obtained for them to operate within the country.... |

Airoflaw: but they can beat civilians within d country anyhow #Godwillhelpus There is a clear difference between the action of few soldiers taking law into their own hands and an army unit going operational within a country. Sentiments aside, NPF goofed by calling them into the matter..What happened to the Police SARS units? |
Crime › Re: FESTAC Robbery: Police Shifts Blame To Navy, Airforce by enigma2007(m): 9:34am On Oct 16, 2015 |
FirstCounsel: It's easy to sit behind your key board and criticize. The air force has no business in this matter. It's a robbery for crying out loud and you expect the military to deploy a battalion or fighter jets'? Do you even know the process and chains of commands instructions must pass through before troops and equipment are deployed for operations? Its not by mere phone calls or screaming for help over the radio. You need to understand all these before apportioning blames. If the police cannot handle a few gun men, then shame on them! Exactly |

modath: Unfortunately it is not laughable...
As Fashola opined, we can't continue with Federal policing, it will not help us...
Security needs to be broken down to even local government level, now everyone is claiming it's not in their jurisdiction!!!
Ridiculous!!! The Airforce and Navy guys are right...They do not have the jurisdiction to operate within the country. Just wondering why our police do not have Marine or Air wing units within or SWAT teams that could be deployed quickly |

otunsman: Some of you who don't live in lagos and be praising brf should find time to pay a visit and see deplorable road conditions and hard life. The former gov will demolish people's houses and build garden parks for cars to park and pay toll. There is no different between fashola and hell rufai in terms of demolition.Very inhuman. The gov have been seeking for a ministerial job that was why he followed buhari wherever he traveled to. You really need to stop been sentimental...The honest truth is that most people did not follow the masterplan of the state hence the destruction... people should learn to check the govt's plan(s) for a location before parting with their hard earned cash to buy a house/land. |

peedeeasobie: I'm not yoruba, not even close but when I hear people make general tribal statements like this, I cringe.
Address the op without denigrating any tribe!
Its unintelligent! Exactly! That is why i stay away from Nairaland most times because it seems that its a breeding ground for people to spew tribalistic comments. I also discovered lately that the Igbos don't understand anything about the Yorubas, the Yorubas dont understand anything about the Igbos and therefore bash each other based on the few people either side have ever interacted with. I once asked a tribal bigot, how many people of the tribe he was busy bashing has he interacted with before in his 32 years on planet earth? and i discovered that he hasnt even interacted with 100k people of that tribe and he is casting aspersion on the other millions of people that made up the tribe based on the few. We should all take time to learn about the pros and cons of each tribe. That is the only way we can come out stronger as a nation. |

hardbody: I have been reading and was content with it till u started typing this rubbish. I am Igbo. I did all the work as a senior manager reporting to a Director who was a DMD in my multinational. I never for a day coveted his position even though i knew he was deliberately stalling my career growth. In line with what most reasonable people here have said, i did the job and let him take all the glory, that way i protected my job. A day came when he chose to resign and the Board did not think twice about elevating me. I did not become a Director but took over the substantive post that the man kept me acting for 3 years.
My point? Grow up and see things for what they are and stop being tribalistic. Today i have igbos and yorubas reporting to me and they do all the job i used to do then. My role is only advisory and supervisory now with direct interface to the MD, Chairman and the Board. Grow up small girl and also move around a bit and learn about other cultures. She didnt started it.. It was this dude obstead200 I was also enjoying people's response until i saw the poo from that guy. Like i said in an earlier post, the issue is not limited to any tribe or set of people rather it has to do with the personality of the person in question and how they perceive themselves. Tribalism aside: On your response, that is a fantastic and it gives me up that the higher ups are seeing my contributions despite the fact that i have some people taking all the glory presently. |
