bjdon: Good points.
I honestly believe that if we are able to go back to a functional regional model, with more power in the regions, that will blunt all secessionist talk to a very large degree. However if we keep this present system, then I can only see the agitation growing over time, as new generations will simply not accept to continue living in a country where nothing seems to work. Supported! That way, people can fully demand for accountability and transparency from their elected officials rather than sitting back and blaming the FG for everything while allowing those thieves to walk around spending the people's money anyhow. Moreover, the regions can compete effectively with the other regions and raise the standard of living for all in the process. |
Politics › Re: Ben Murray-Bruce: Nigeria Should Share Work Money Not Oil Money by enigma2007(m): 2:46pm On Dec 01, 2015 |
kosplateau: So why won't Nigeria go back to it? Why the delay? See, Nigerians see regionalism and resource control as a secessionist attempt. But who benefits as it is now, wouldn't want any form of accountability and sense of proportion.
People kicking against having few kids are getting their hopes from someone's wealth, if not, we don't have to debate on it.
Hunger doesn't pity anyone.
Meanwhile, I shld have a peaceful right to secession. Continuation of marriage must not be enforced. I do not have an issue with regionalism because if you study the history of Nigeria well, notable progress and growth were achieved during that era despite the fact that oil (i assume that oil was the point of contention between the people that want resource control or what not) was already discovered in 1956 at Oloibiri. So, oil was available back then but each region was developing its own resources or means of making their economic more viable thereby contributing to the overall growth of the country. Fast-forward some years, the country is so heavily dependent on Oil and that is not the way forward in this current economic climate. On the secession bit, would there be a peaceful secession? It didn't work in the past and it sets the entity called Nigeria back and personally i belong to that "generation that believes things should be repaired when broken rather than throwing it away" - My humble opinion. |

kosplateau: I know soon Nigeria and Nigerians will apologize to Ojukwu. You did not get his message. He is not talking about seccession, but for the fact that Nigeria was more progressive when it was managed along a regional model rather than the current model that is not helping the growth of the country |

Acidosis: I hope this is not an attempt to punish SA firms as I'm very certain majority of the shops in Lagos state sell expired and fake products.
I'm not in anyway condoling malpractices; I'm only calling for fair and equal treatments.
I don't think we have any SA Pastor in Nigeria. If SA decides to start with Nigerian Pastors in South Africa alone, lol, they will gulp thrice the amount we'll get from MTN.
They have Pastor Chris Oyakhilome They have Emmanuel TV/T.B Joshua & many more...
While some folks rejoice over the perceived fall of MTN, Shoprite, and other SA firms in Nigeria, let's always remember they have more Nigerians at their disposal. Those other stores that you mentioned, are they has prominent as "Shoprite"? If they are then flag them for the appropriate authorities. |

Politics › Re: DPR Gives Out FREE Fuel To Motorists In Kwara by enigma2007(m): 3:39pm On Nov 24, 2015 |
anonimi: All that means is there is a huge gap between demand and supply that only PRICE (relatively free market forces) can correct through enticing existing/new investors to increase supply and discourage marginal users thus reducing demand, not so REGULATING prices or forcing people to sell BELOW their own OPTIMAL price level to ensure their being CONTINUOUSLY in business is a recipe for DISASTER. I cannot repeat this fact enough. This is basic economics. Go and learn about Venezuela and North Korea's experience at fixing prices as well as the Nigeria National Supply Company, NNSC fiasco during Buhari's first coming as a DICTATOR, in the era of Essential Commodities aka Essenco, then you may better understand why this is NOT good at all. Good.. The question for me: would our people allow the government to fully deregulate the downstream sector? or remove subsidy or sell the refineries? These will open up the sector for investment(s) from existing and new investors. |
Politics › Re: DPR Gives Out FREE Fuel To Motorists In Kwara by enigma2007(m): 1:24pm On Nov 24, 2015 |
hush15: When you want to control hoarding, you don't go to the retailer. You go to the wholesaler who are the marketers that run the depots and fuel farms to make the product available and at the right price.
When you distribute fuel somebody bought for 86 naira excluding lifting charges, for free. How much are Nigerians expect in him to sell after all the running cost. We are not asking the right questions but out of desperation, supporting the wrong deeds. Again, the problem is not the retailer who can't sell below the price he got fuel because he wants to make fuel available to people but government who are not making sure the fuel is in excess supply. If it were me, I won't sell to. I might keep my fuel atleast till I know I can get my returns on investment. Dashing Nigerians fuels is not the way to go. Nigerians will be happy while they killing another set of Nigerians future cos at that rate, a lot of stations wouldn't rather stock up till they are sure of getting what they can sell at the price Nigerians want and if they don't stock up, no salary. No salary means no more work. No work, back to the labour market. I understand.. However, I am not against them selling at whatever price that would enable them to re-couple their running costs but i am against them hoarding the product. I am a proponent of fully deregulating that sector and the govt should remove the subsidy and let these people compete and the common people have alternatives. Also, all our refineries should be privatized and more built to meet our local demand & supply. My opinion though |

anonimi: Government price CONTROLS over something it does not supply ABUNDANTLY itself directly to consumers and users is a recipe for DISASTER. I tell you that it is only a matter of time before the seeds of cluelessness that Buhari is sowing become even more manifest beyond the current NEGATIVE and declining economic indicators. Just a matter of time.
Ask yourself, as a businessman how would you react and run your business in an environment of steeply rising costs? How I do understand your point of view... However, we have had cases where these retailers are selling beyond the approved pump price(s) and would stop selling in order to sell to black marketers because there is a limit to how they can raise their pump price without people screaming... More lucrative for them to supply black marketers |

anonimi: Will Buhari CONTINUE to give FREE things that investors/entrepreneurs/businesses PAID dearly for This is economic DISASTER loading as it was under Buhari 30 years ago with his clueless acts. So its not criminal to hoard products? Moreover, i don't think that sector is fully deregulated hence why the govt can intervene. |

I can feel the change. The judge was sent on compulsory Retirement with immediate effect after the National Judicial council (NJC) suspended him and recommended his retirement to the President for misconduct.
In a press statement, the Acting Director of the NJC, Mr Soji Oye, said the NJC made the recommendation to the President after its 74th meeting held on the November 4 and 5.
