Hummmm! huh
Truecaller uploads the contacts of people that installed the app. So there is a likelihood that your details are in their database already thanks to one or many of your friends. grin

Ain't downloading that thing for any amount of money in the world. I so much cherished my privacy.

I could get upset, when people start asking me such an unnecessary questions about me.

wink
The fact that you did not download it does not mean it's not on somebody's contact and that might have been uploaded to Truecaller.. So either ways, you are going to be affected.

oluwarantimi:
How do you know this? Do you attend the school?
off course not!

Businesses do that to protect themselves from litigation! For example, most of use click on "i agree" when we are installing new software or registering for a service(s) without reading the fine print about certain things..

Back the schoo ish, it will be difficult for parents with wards in that school to sue the school because they can always refer you to that fine print that states "that you can pay in Naira".

The paper says you can also pay in naira. Don't see anything wrong with this. Legally, there is nothing wrong with what the school has done.
Apparently! They put it on paper to protect themselves in case of litigation while they demand $ payment in reality.

Can we define what respect is again?

Whatever it is it should be really genuine; when respect isn't genuine, then it isn't respect but a thousand other things.

Yes I understand the 'elder must be respected' social idea but then another word must be coined to ascribe the 'respect' you give to an unrepetant paedophile or thieving elder because he is way older.

Ultimately respect should be earned not handed over.

I do not fault Adenuga overt gesture of respect to PMB, he knows PMB is big on 'respect' so he has to 'pay homage' to the king, whose reign by the way has a tenure.

Adenuga has billions of dollars of investment to safeguard at the end of the day
I totally agree with you. Respect should be earned!

Maybe i didn't pass my msg across as intended, each tribe has a way of greeting people or elders politely despite the fact that you might have a disagreement with their views or personalities or whatever crime(s) they might have committed especially when in a social gathering. Outside of such gathering, anything wey the pesin eyes see! grin

Bottom-line as you have stated and i fully agree, real respect should be earned either by deeds or actions (I have no issues with that). I grew up in a time where people don't feel entitled to the good things of life but will rather work hard to earn such things.

and if i have billions of dollars work of investment at stake, then i will prostrate sef to get thr dude to leave me alone. cheesy

Yoruba sabi 'eye service'

Masters of forming respect before you and 'yimuing' behind

Na so one man, who is a good ten years older then me, with more experience in life, is calling me 'egbon" because I drop change for him every now and then......
it's not humility but 'pretending to obtain desired results"

Education and wealth doesn't make them shed this "way of life" even the renowned soyinka speaks of 'stooping to conquer'
Greeting your elders is not eye-service and moreover, you would know the people that are doing eye service except you don't observe people closely. Like somebody explained up there, most well brought Yoruba people will still greet an elder respectfully despite the fact they might not like you and some of the ones i know will rather try not to be in the same room with that person to avoid stories that touch.

On the one calling you "egbon", he is doing that to fleece you or appeal to your ego in order to drop more bar/money. Moreover, that is not even limited to a single tribe. It cuts across all ethnicity in Nigeria though the way each tribe (or people) go around in appealing to your ego is different and the end result is same (to part you from your money either deserved or undeserved).

Some youths are funny sha! They would rather engage in tribal bashing and posturing instead of seeing this as laudable and something we should emulate in other states so that the dependency on oil can go down and more jobs created for our teeming population.

We need more agricultural entrepreneurs to meet local demands and export as well.

Also, i hope the government will put in place policies that would help the farmers to maximize their gains to encourage more production

Please I stand to be corrected ,if he got A1 in eight subjects including English and Maths except in civic education in WAEC what else was he looking for with NECO? Or did he registered for the two exams at the same time? If yes is the answer to that question, then kudos bro. More grease to your brain and to your parents
You are allowed to register for both! Considering that both exams are written almost one month after the other and a sharp person will not want to bank on just one result

The government has no sense. You are scaring off much needed foriegn investment with this obscene fine. And yet they keep crying no dollars
Smh! You need to stop been sentimental... According to the gist, MTN signed an agreement with NCC where things were stated clearly and they violated the said agreement. The sanest thing they should have done is to lobby and negotiate the fine rather than dragging the NCC to court.

Lets bring it to a personal level: if you go into a business agreement with someone and they go back on such agreement despite clearly stating all the penalties and all parties signed, would you just sit and look or would you take actions?

Personally, i would have preferred MTN negotiated the penalties from the onset before they signed such agreement rather than doing a round-about face when they were called out on breaking the agreement.

We both know the voters registration exercise was not accurately captured, we had cases of multiple registrations and validity of the captured once are not 100%, if you look at the proposals of such projects, you will see the they have exorbitant ideologies but failed deliveries, and of cos, there was no time to verify the deliverables cos even registration was not fully concluded, with evidence of failed capture machines and compromised items.

The whole argument still balls down to the impossibility of the project to be delivered by zenox. We both know this.

NB: About you decision on (No Breach) with the voters card, what about the guys caught with voters cards, besides i participated in the exercise, i could print thousands if i want to and even replicate IDs. The screening of valid voters card they did still didnt capture all faulty once. This is Nigeria you know.
cheesy grin @Nigerian factor bit... cheesy grin grin
I would love to see their term of reference for the project or the project charter if they make it public so that you and I can properly argue it out based on the context of the document!

Looking at from another perspective, the government can build a center that integrate all the databases been generated left and right by agencies such as FRSC, Police, NMIC, unemployment database etc. This would enable them to combat terrorism and have comprehensive info about the citizenry effectively from a single point rather than the disparate databases been maintained by different agencies.

Fine but lets put the scope back to the functionality of the project at hand. Declaring the commencement of a data management project in a country that does not have a synchronized system of data exchange in all its parastatals. is it worth a try?

Anybody can setup a database to house data with your mentioned servers but you dont just setup such for sensitive employment verification structure that requires severe security measures. Am not talking about school project, NIMC projects or VIN. We are looking at millions of data's to be housed by a company that need to be audited and certified by Higher infosec standards e.g ISO27001, PCI-DSS etc.

Not just a baby database reform that some DDOS programs can take over in seconds.
I know guys that can take out data-centers as well (fair game to them). So to determined attackers, data-centers or not will not stop them from DDOSing your system or causing other havoc. Read about the data breach from the following companies: Mastercard, Visa, Target, JP Morgan, Sony, White house personnel office etc. I read about one company (Amazon) though, Anonymous group DDOS them and it did not work because their capacity kept on absorbing the attack.

Lets take it to a more recent context, the voters registration exercise in Nigeria that was conducted was done without the need to build a data-center and i have not heard of any data breach yet. The National database also comes to mind as well..

I still maintain that the use of data center would only be justifiable if the government's entire or critical IT infrastructures would be deployed on it in order to justify the costs of building one.

Alternatively the can get a virtual data-center at a cheaper price wink

"Secure it Properly"

Zenox is no way secured or certified with any infosec standard, besides is it that cubicle they call datacenter you want to house millions of unemployed youths database?

Besides setting up such solution will require all employed and unemployed persons data, and records of places they are working with.

How many Nigerians want to say i work here or there.

Its a failed project my friend.
I beg to disagree with you. Building a data center just to house a database is a pure waste of money and resources. Except the scope of the project is going to be extended to accommodate the entire government IT infrastructure or host several other services such as databases, file servers, application servers, middleware etc then the I would push for a data-center.

Personally, it something i can set up using a physical server with access to the net, a front-end solution and a good database (MS SQL server or Oracle or MongoDB any other database that supports non structured data).

This is a project that they can get up and running in no time if they are serious. Even some of our university grads can set this up without sweat!
