Politics / Re: Buhari Rejects Ajaokuta Completion Bill, National Housing Fund, Others by enigma2007(m): 1:20pm On Apr 03, 2019
Oricha79:
Can someone enlight me about rejection of this particular ajaokuta bill before I withdraw my support for PMB

He simply said.. He stated that some of the relevant stakeholders were not carried along especially the state govs since these governors own part of the money in the account the legislators wanted to dip their hands into. Also, he said the relevant ministries were not consulted in arriving at that figure that they want to use for the completion.
The last one was that he said that the funding for ajaokuta should be handled via the normal budgeting cycle rather than creating a special bill.
Business / Re: Latest Update from Dangote Refinery, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos (Photos and Videos) by enigma2007(m): 4:55pm On Mar 18, 2019

SMH...

I'm from Asaba, and here is my analysis:

1. This is a private refinery, and it can be placed any damn where the owners choose - whether or not it make business sense is no business of those who are not owners of the business.

2. Rather than subject the refinery and its personnel to constant threat of kidnapping or sabotage, this one is situated in a sane environment. Pipes and pumps at sea will bring the crude to Ibeju-Lekki

3. Transportation (either by sea from Lagos ports to abroad, or by tankers over road is much much easier from Lagos to where the majority of the fuel will be consumed, than from the hinterlands of the Delta area.

4. If you also factor the cost and logistics of all those tankers going into some riverine area, just to move the fuel to the Lagos metropolitan area (where most of the fuel will be consumed), you'll see it makes no sense for this refinery to be outside Lagos.

5. Do you really think the cost of importing and transporting all those materials for building, plus finding and housing all the needed skilled labour, plus moving all that cement... you think it would be cheaper in Lagos or in Delta?

Having said that, a government that is serious about national development would develop the needed infrastructure and ports to help make this private refinery viable. Most SS state governors have chosen to develop Lagos and London at the expense of their homes, and the indigenes of those states have nobody but themselves to blame for not demanding better.

You nailed it well.. He sighted his refinery in a place that allows both sea and land access.. If Nigeria likes, they can sell him crude or he can import easily.. Security is also guaranteed cuz the boys around there wants development for their people rather than acting a showstopper.

Seems difficult and a waste of time, does people are very tactical and you will watch them.the best thing is do what Lagos is doing,it is developing is own port ,lekki deep sea and badagry ports and a freetrade zone, people will ship to a port with the best facilities and personals including infastructures. You can employ the citizens of the states to work there without quota system nonense.Lekki airport is also same strategy.

Now you get my point about proactive govs.. They need to develop their states and stop waiting for FG to do it. They should use their allocations to get investors to come in...We need more competent people at state level.

The pailament is lopsided with a section of the country dominating the assembly,so no reasonable bills normally pass in the house,so restructuring can't take place.start from the airport customs to the ports ,a section of Nigeria dominate the work place.so they will protect this system forever.the head of the port is a young lady also from a section of the country.its been this way for many years.

That is why we need people that can make deals in the National assemblies.. Concessions need to happen else the status quo will remain the same.. We have abt 17 southern states with equal numbers of reps n senators. They need to make deals that will help their region.

We need to restructure the country, all money generated at the ports belongs to federal and not states.in a regional system the money made will belong to the region. All money collected in apapa and tincan ports belongs to the federal government, this is 419.

Serious 419.. This is up to the legislators.. They need to make laws that will enable the states to share in the revenue from those ports if restructuring is not going to work...

Unfortunately, those legislooters are not interested in making such laws rather they are interested in things that will enrich them further.

other ports in West Africa and central Africa are competing with Nigeria,Togo now has the busiest port a with a population of 8million ,but a large % is coming to Nigeria.so other ports are needed .

Most of those goods are designated for Nigeria.. So Nigeria can strangle all of that traffic easily if they want to... So we need to work on all our ports and develop a comprehensive rail networks so that goods can move seamless across the country.

I agree that other ports are needed. Like the Calabar one that you mentioned should be deepened and road/rail networks worked on. The state gov can approach the FG on partnership that would see them develop this port.. No one will ship to a place with bad roads or places where they cannot easily get out their goods.

Time to start getting these state govs to be proactive in managing some of their resources.

South East is land locked and the onne port in South South is the deepest sea port Nigeria, but yet the ships are not coming to that seaport.

I think the Onne port is designated for oil related activities and so i don't think they will get general traffic like that.

Gandollar:
Jimi should shut up his dirty mouth. You Lost because you are not a serious contender.

What kind of opposition goes to bed after every election only to reappear after 4yrs?

With the magnitude of corruption going on in Alausa, PDP could not leverage them to whittle APCs power in that state. A credible opposition will keep his eyes on the ball 24/7 whether election is near or not.

APC won't allow you to erect bill boards, so you have to do your work on foot! Door to door, grassroots to grassroots! Upset the apple cart. Rock the boat. Horse-trade. Blackmail. Plant moles.

But Truth is, Lagos PDP are under Tinubu's payroll and that's why they can't get serious.

You nailed it with the highlighted portion.. PDP is dead arnd my end, i am sure Accord party will beat PDP black and blue arnd my end.

Jimi was never really a contender by the way, e.g. He alleged that his billboards was destroyed blah blah, what happened to his online presence? or other means of reaching out.. I doubt that he even campaigned on the mainland..

In Nigeria, there is absolutely no ease in doing business. Especially us in the ICT industry. Bad infrastructure everywhere, especially this light wahala.

Spoke with a foreign client recently and told him we had power outage and he was like, is that a thing?

Power outage in today's age and time for an IT person? Oga.. There are solutions to such if truly you are an IT person.. If you are based in Lagos, there are many shared office space that you can pay on a monthly basis and you will have allocated seat..

I am sure other states have shared office space that you can rent on monthly basis..

I experienced something like this with one bank. When I stopped using the account, they continued sending me alerts of deductions. Then the account entered minus-something and they continued! Then one day they realised their folly and stopped. Now, they're calling me to revive the account. Their papa.

Diamond did same to me. Deducted my 21k until it got to minus and continued.

Still my point. A number of companies (with emphasis on technology companies) are no longer interested in NYSC certificates and all those "bulky" paper qualifications.

You are obliged to present your NYSC if you applied with your B.Sc for that job role (If you work for Andela, check with your HR or their twitter account, they have addressed this issue in the past 6 months). However, i know that tech companies are not going to stress you about bringing a B.Sc before they can employ you.

Same mistake that got Buhari in is about to happen again... We heap so much expectations on candidates and expect them to perform magic within 4 years. So they will fall back on excuses when they get there and realities hit them on the face..

I hope the Atiku Campaign organisation is carefully monitoring the promises been churned out on their behalf else Nigerians will come for them based on the expectations people are busy churning out on the internet daily..

Nigerians will always fall for same trick every election year.. smh
