fellowbeing:You should have thought of your mum and used her to pass. Now that the deed has been done, look for a little job round town to help yourself and ease mummy's burden. Mummy will still support you and when she sees how serious you are, she will defend you too. I know a first born is always under serious pressure but just try to focus on clearing this hurdle first. |
I never had a carry over whilst in school. The thing is I didn't love all my courses and studied more for the courses I disliked because I couldn't bear the thought of having to re-write any course especially the ones I disliked, that was a part motivator. I won't say I know how you feel but I do know this: My sister's friend was a splash too and made her paper on the final trial the school allowed. She is now serving. I don't think you should worry about how you are studying with your juniors - that's a victim mentality and is the major reason for your depression. The day you drop your victim mentality is the day you would rise above your situation. You need to tell yourself, that you let YOU down and then promise SELF to learn from the situation and make something positive out of it by passing the course(s) Your parents will be disappointed? Yes, as they should be. No one loves their children failing since they have to also bear the burden of paying your school fees again. Take that as a motivating factor. Long story short: This situation aint worth your life |
I love the ending of this sequel(the last paragraph), the beginning though looked scattered and I grappled with understanding the main character. Quick question: What event was this, same day? Quick observation: Your character didn't feel like a girl. |
MarryMeee:Errr...I don't know how you view scolding. He doesn't have to shout and scream, you can scold in a strong quiet manner. Some actions need a strong warning. That is nothing like a tit for tat. Adults with love and understanding won't even have this kind of problem. My initial post didn't stop at scolding though |
So, what exactly is her rant meant to achieve? He was within the grasp of the law when the incident happened and you let him slip, now you are posting on instagram, for what? ![]() Woman, woman, woman...how many times I call you? Stop this juvenile emotional display. No intention to slight rape victims |
Mo sorry gan. My wedding breakfast will be green tea with diced unripe plantain porridge with goatmeat and periwinkles. That is the only meal that takes me to food utopia |
MarryMeee:How is a husband scolding the wife a tit for tat? |
boolet:What kind of lashes? ![]() |
boolet:Wetin the man go do na? Im wan beat the wife or pursue am comot for house? Or e wan pretend say e no see am? Oya wetin be your own solution? |
boolet:That's not an analysis na...An analysis would have me trying to figure out how mama behaves towards her daughter-in-law and vice versa |
boolet:Kilode? |
My goodness! And I thought I have heard it all. On a serious note, make her aware that you know; ask her why and then scold her, tell her why you aren't happy and ensure she sees it from your viewpoint. |
Only one of my brothers has that disgusting habit of spitting while using the toilet and when I hear it, I say loudly 'M, I hope you are okay? If you try it again ehn', gradually it's reducing. It is just a recent habit of his I noticed and I am thinking he either got it from staying off camp. I want to totally eradicate that habit and I am succeeding but you have to know that this is my younger brother. If it was my hubby, I'd tell him gently but firmly with all seriousness once. The next time, I won't mention it but he'd know by my face he just did something wrong and he'd correct it gradually. As for the slippers thingy; I have two pairs in the bathroom, two pairs in the kitchen and more pairs outside. There is a footmat at the bathroom entrance and two rags in the room. If you don't clean off properly on the mat, you'd slip and fall. Falling on a wet floor of tiles is dangerous so everyone behaves. If you see or pour water on the floor, the rags are there to quickly clean off. But slippers or shoes in the room are a no-no. So, keep two pairs of slippers in your bathroom and one by the mat, so that he wipes off his feet and wears the one for the room. As for stopping him from spitting, you know your hubby and I am sure you have once or twice gotten him to do something you wanted; so employ what works for you. |
Mogidi:Haba! No dey twist that report, I read it. Even if some of Buhari's ardent supporters are speaking out, it is their right to because they had a vision of what they wanted Buhari to achieve by now. And yet same way, not all of the opposition (PDP) has fully critiqued him yet except perhaps on some of his actions or inactions. |
To stoop to this level, it must have really been bad for the young man |
barcanista:The intention of my post wasn't to make it look as if Buhari is on point. The failings of Nigeria didn't start from the Jonathan's administration either but rather than poke at Buhari every day/week; would it not be better at 100 days where even the opposition knows it is a fair enough period for appraisals? In the end, we all (critics, passive followers, aggressive followers, supporters and the rest) want Nigeria to work |
barcanista:Temper already? My post isn't ignorant so don't throw that at me. I say/write things as I perceive them. We will always differ in opinions but I won't throw a tantrum if your opinion is different from mine because I understand we all cannot see things the same way. Now that you 'know' Buhari has 'failed' or doesn't know his left from right, what solutions have you proffered? If none, please ignore this post. |
Isn't it too early to expect all of Nigeria's troubles to disappear knowing how stilted the country's structure is? I mean it's not even 100 days yet. Yes, the economy is terrible but so it is globally and don't forget our overdependence on oil is hugely responsible. As for the other points, Administration (Jonathan reversed some decisions as well), Security (It was also bad during the ex-president's time). I don't even want to talk on anti-corruption. I have grouses too but nothing serious for now |
Abuja, Nigeria ( July 14, 2015)- An Abuja-based writer and activist, Sodiq Alabi has filed a lawsuit against ThisDay Newspapers and Femi Fani-Kayode, the former media director of Goodluck Jonathan Presidential campaign organisation, over a newspaper publication that misrepresented him and falsified information he had obtained. In the days leading up to the 2015 Presidential elections in Nigeria, a lot of furore was raised with regards to the academic qualifications of the then APC presidential candidate, Muhamadu Buhari. In a bid to separate truth from falsehood, Mr. Sodiq Alabi sought clarification from Cambridge University, organisers of the examinations written by Buhari in 1961. Specifically, on January 22nd 2015, Alabi enquired if Hausa Language was one of the languages set in the senior school certificate examinations in 1961. Cambridge Assessment Archive Services replied his email same day, confirming that Hausa Language was set in 1961. Alabi then posted this piece of information and a screen grab of the correspondence on his Facebook page and other social media platforms. However, on the 26th January 2015, Femi Fani-Kayode, in a statement cited by ThisDay newspapers, averred that Hausa Language was not set by Cambridge in the 1961 certificate examinations. The article hinged this assertion on the correspondence between Sodiq Alabi and the Cambridge Assessment Archive, which had been altered. In a bid to straighten the records, Alabi had contacted ThisDay Newspapers to retract the misleading reports of January 25th and 26th, 2015 and to tender an unreserved apology. ThisDay neither acknowledged nor responded to the email. His lawyers, Messrs. Wadata Chambers on April 28th also wrote a letter of demand to both ThisDay and Fani-Kayode. While ThisDay Newspapers have refused to issue a response, Femi Fani-Kayode has said that he would meet Alabi in court. In the case filed Thursday, July 9, with the High Court of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Sodiq Alabi is asking the court to, among other things, order the duo of ThisDay and Fani-Kayode to each issue a categorical retractions of the publications and public apologies in national dailies and pay him the sum of 50 million naira damages. On the reason he is towing the path of litigation, Alabi remarks: “This lawsuit is an opportunity for me to seek redress, clear my name and have the offenders punished for their injurious actions. There is a need to ensure that media platforms like ThisDay newspapers do not lend themselves to a campaign of misinformation and this is best achieved by holding them responsible for their actions and inaction” http://abusidiqu.com/writer-sues-thisday-fani-kayode-over-doctored-information/ |

The second pic is funny, I don't know what Oku Di means, there should have been an interpretation |
yuncka:No, I am not satisfied. Barney was not used for advertorial purposes. These men were intriguing because of the orange make-over but they were used only for adverts. ce·leb·ri·ty (sə-lĕb′rĭ-tē) n. pl. ce·leb·ri·ties 1. One who is widely known and of great popular interest. 2. Fame or popular renown. [Middle English celebrite, http://www.thefreedictionary.com/celebrity A celebrity is a person who is widely recognized in a given society and commands a degree of public and media attention. The word is derived from the Latin celebritas, from the adjective celeber ("famous," "celebrated" .https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_celebrities |
How were they celebrities? The 3 orange men were for advert purposes or did you see them perform in any other capacity? |
Shebarh:Where she wan run go? |
And what exactly do the dons do to enable them spray that much? Not just one out of the group but all of them. Reminds me of the wedding my mum said she attended. The groom was in the occult because during the reception the members all came in, bare feet wearing red and (walking backwards) - not too sure of the bracketed phrase. The groom had apparently worn his under his suit because he removed it and joined them. You could see the shock on the bride's face and most of the guests present. The leader of the delegation, welcomed the wife and told her that her new hubby was with them and that she should be rest assured that she was in safe hands. He told her, she would never be malteated and in case it happened, she should report the husband to them. The only admonishment was that there was a locked room in the house that she should never enter. |
I swear even she feels better now |
Nwobia confirmed to State House correspondents that she and members of her team were at the Presidential Villa, to brief the President of the ministry’s activities. She said although the economy was facing challenges of drop in revenue, the nation’s finance was in good condition. This |
I yawned as I woke. This was going to be the most boring summer holidays. Lara was going to visit her grandparents and go for summer lessons there as well. I was stuck in the house with people that didn’t seem to have my time or even know I was there. I had my bath and tidied my room. Putting on my headphones, I slipped my iPod into the back pocket of my jean shorts. The kitchen was empty when I got there, not a surprise. Cook was probably with mum, dad or perhaps out gossiping with Suleiman. They always seemed to have something to say to each other especially when cook was less busy. They talked to each other like they were siblings even though cook was Edo and Suleiman was from the north. I opened the fridge, took out some bread slices and added three pieces of fried meat and a piece of fried chicken to the bread, deciding against tea; I took a full juice pack instead. Taking sardine from the cupboard, I opened and poured the contents into a plate. Cook would certainly be livid if she saw me with the fried meats and chicken. I was hurriedly backing out of the kitchen listening to Beyonce’s ‘love on top’ when I heard the scream. Part of me wanted to run up to my room and hide my food first and the other part wanted to know who had screamed. I put off my iPod and heard… “…gone. My baby is gone! Hannah please come back.” No, it couldn’t be. Was this a prank or what? Dropping my breakfast on the counter, I dashed up the stairs, my heart pounding. I ran to Hannah’s room and opened the door. The room was crowded as everyone was there even Suleiman and some people I hadn’t heard come like the pastor. My dad was holding my mum in that way an anchor held a ship at bay not willing to let go whilst mum wailed beside her sleeping daughter. Hannah laid peacefully still. She looked beautiful and happy as if glad to finally leave and then I couldn’t breathe. No one saw me when I entered and no one saw me leave. I ran down and out of the house. I ran and ran and ran. I couldn’t stop, for to stop meant to believe and I didn’t want to believe. Hannah was buried a week after. Everyone except I wrote loving tributes. Her death had affected me badly and I couldn’t sleep for two days. There was something so empty inside me and I couldn’t dare to probe it lest I fell into a void of despair where no one could save me for I had come to realize that I didn’t hate Hannah after all, I had subconsciously blamed her for allowing the cancer have that much hold on her, I felt she didn’t even want to fight it. I hated that she didn’t scream and rail and seemed to take everything in stride, I hadn’t hated her but the sickness which plagued her. And yes, if I who was brilliant, who proclaimed herself a genius couldn’t reach out to her to tell her these things, how then could I have put that in a tribute? It was something that was to be shared only with Hannah just so I could see her smile as I said it and so I had slipped a folded paper that explained how I felt into her cold hands after she had been dressed and before the casket was closed. I couldn't bear to look at her while I did it. The service was a blur. My mum had my dad even cook had suleiman but I had no one. Lara couldn't come down. They tried to include me but I had alienated myself so much that I felt like a third wheel. And as the casket was being lowered with Hannah going away and beyond from my reach, I wept; I didn't weep for the dead alone, I wept for that which I had lost was gone forever. THE END |
swizken6:Your intel was right? What then makes it wonderful? ![]() |
Ideally, at 28 you shouldn't be living with your parents but realistically sh*t happens. The sin isn't in living with them and being jobless, the sin would be not making any efforts to get something to do. Regardless of all that, your mum shouldn't have spoken harshly to the girl. It'd be funny if she didn't speak harshly to you when you came home drunk. |
mistytohcute:Thanks Misty |
