Swiftboy: There should be laws in place...strict laws against piracy and copyright protections! Against corrupt practices the media houses legalized with their so called 'promotion packages';artistes should be paid if their song made playlists instead{afterall companies paid for advertisements, not asking artistes for money].censor board must also be empowed to ban bad songs. We should start promote songs that make sense too not just loud senseless song on air.Well they say bad music move the street but no; the street listen to what's promoted.Am glad you mentioned Timi Dakolo,'Great nation' is prolly the most patriotic and inspiring song after THE National anthem.Am sick of some of our radio stations playing party music all the time when we have issues to think about in this country.Am not against party song mind you,I like it,I do it but we also need to Educate and inspire ourselves.Maybe we should start criticising artistes at this point. we should start booing poor lyrics and hail meaningful music thank you!Bro i am a blogger, and what you are saying is practically impossible. When songs are released via twitter, they spread like wide fire. |

Swiftboy: Thanks Op! Artistes are not releasing albums as before.Even when Cd sales was the order of the day, piracy takes the largest share of album distributions. The adverse effect of poor music distribution has killed creativity in so many ways.Artistes now rely on shows and endorsement deals to survive which means no need to do any style of music aside dance-halls and high tempo songs that can move the crowd. The industry lacks structure.Even there are cases where artistes do free shows after been promised substantial amount by the show promoters.Thats why the music industry sucks! Its getting too commercial than art.Its more like pay to get promoted on the radios,d.js,tabloid e.t.c and you're guaranteed a place at the spotlight.u are just on point. No substance and the likes of Bez, Timi Dakolo and the like may not make anything from this kind of structure. Even Darey as talented as he his still has go commercial at times to feed his hungry belly. What possible solutions do you think? |
Here is another hit single from the past. Remedies, a group the homes Eedris Abdulkareem, Tony Tetuila and Eddy Montana. I wonder what Eedris was saying in the song. No wonder rugged man had a point then. Download |
https://www.nairaland.com/1394980/artistes-still-make-money-album i think this is a hot topic that needs to be on the front page |
A very Long time ago, not so long ago though, artistes were accustomed to taking their musical albums to Alaba International Market, where they were being marketed. Most popular in the business then was Ahbu Ventures, T. Joe, and Obaino Music. This was a reflection of music distribution in the international scene too. World class music distributors like Columbia records turn Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group among others market music album globally for their respective clients. Then, artistes can be sure of a substantial amount on their intellectual property. It is unknown exactly how many albums Thriller sold. It is estimated between 46 and 110 million. Easily making it the biggest selling album of all time. Michael also was paid more royalties from his albums than most other artists. (About $2 per album) So if he sold 46 million he would make 92 million etc etc. This is not counting video clips, the home movie - the making of Thriller and countless singles. SO I'm assuming he made a lot of money. Hope this helps. God Bless. RIP Michael Jackson. (wiki). In Nigeria, there was no proper documentation of facts but it was reported that Timaya made over 5 million Naira on his first album, while Dbanj made over 7million on the album that contained the hit track “Suddenly”. Klever Jay was reported to have made about 3million Naira on the “Igboro ti daru” album. Although I must categorically say that this figures were not confirmed as our Alaba sources refuse to confirm any amount. One thing was yet confirmed, these artistes were paid in Millions. The advent of internet of internet changed the global distribution of Music, leading to Digital/Online music distribution, which started in the late 20th century. It was recorded (in USA) that the largest record labels have all reported a considerable decline in overall revenues from sales of recorded music to consumers in the first decade of the 21st century. Revenues in the U.S. dropped by half over a decade, from a high of $14.6 billion in 1999 to $6.3 billion in 2009, according to Forrester Research. Atlantic Records reports that digital sales have surpassed physical sales. Worldwide revenues for CDs, vinyl, cassettes and digital downloads fell from $36.9 billion in 2000 to $15.9 billion in 2010 according to IFPI. The Economist and The New York Times report that the downward trend is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. In 2013, everything seems to a very sharp decline. Access to internet (Blackberry phones especially) has caused physical sales to reduce to almost nothing. Many bloggers would go to the extent of leaking songs to get views on their websites, which obviously has a devastating effect on the artiste whose intellectual property is being used. Even radio station that ought to pay artistes for playing their song would rather collect money from the artistes in other to play their song (a topic for another day). This made me wonder if artistes do make ANY amount at all on album sales or they just drop their albums online for free download and make all their fortune through shows and other avenues? Is this good for Music? In that case, should they still make albums(since Kcee had two contract deals with just 1 hi single)? What must be done? how should it be done? I had a sleepless night over this matter. Kindly drop you comment on my site as I will like to you it for another article thanks. Written by Olusegun Adeyemi source Read more here |

Lady Gaga has stripped naked in a video made to support and promote the Marina Abramovic Institute. The ‘Born This Way’ singer is no stranger to baring the flesh, but she’s taken it to a whole new level by partaking in the video to support the Marina Abramovic Institute. In the clip, the singer is seen in a variety of settings while making a continuous groaning sound as she practices the Abramovic method, designed to ‘heighten the participants’ awareness of their physical and mental experience in the present moment’. The blonde star spends most of the video blindfolded while walking slowly and occasionally striking a pose, but at one point Gaga bends down to grab hold of a tree branch in a forest, before wrapping her arms around a large crystal on a piece of laminate flooring. Serbian artist Marina is trying to raise $600,000 through donation service Kickstarter to fund her artworks. So far she has $228,683 of her target pledged. Marina has also generously promised everyone who donates will get a ‘personal hug’. The money pledged is to be used to help get the Institute off the ground. Check out for some more pictures here |

hello mod, kindly add this song to the front page. it is another milestone by two Nigerians, https://www.nairaland.com/1388970/nigerian-rapper-chuck-caesar-cinderella thanks |
I am excited to submit the second single from US-based Nigerian rapper Chuck Caesar titled Cinderella which features critically acclaimed G-unit emcee Tony Yayo and Domination Nations's talented singer/songwriter Sabi. Both rappers effortlessly deliver swag heavy bars over a lush pop-rap beat by SlimBeatz who produced Solidstar's dance hall hit Skibo. Sabi blesses the track with a lovely and catchy hook and verse which is sure to bring a smile to every girls face. Chuck Caesar is passionate about shining a spotlight on music of Nigerian origin in the United States mainstream media and this crossover song might very well serve as a bridge between the two music scenes. Everywhere you look, on every billboard, on every channel, there's beautiful, scantily clad women. So you could be forgiven for thinking that female beauty is relegated to large boobs and a tiny waist. But the truth about women -- and about the men who love them -- is infinitely more complex. In fact, when men on Reddit were asked what things women do that are irresistible, the answers were generally more innocent than overtly sexual. Here are 10 of the answers that really rang true to us. All of these things get us every time. No.10 The Putting-On-Tight-Jeans Dance This is a special reward not for the majority of men, unless, of course, you break out a pair of binoculars and camp out in a tree (note: do not do this). In the early morning, when you're both preparing for the day ahead, sit back and watch your woman wriggle and dance herself into a pair of too-tight pants. This is what she does every day of her life, something she takes totally for granted, but to you will be like watching the sun rise. Guaranteed to make cold hearts melt. No.9 Stretching In Front Of You By now there should be a theme alert: most of what men find so irresistible about women involves the small, involuntary gestures they do every day, probably without even realizing. And stretching, arms up in the air, should be pretty high on that list. Just ask the men who go to yoga classes regularly. They know. No.8 Flipping Their Hair This is probably the most deliberate and seductive gesture on this list. Almost every romantic comedy makes light of how some women have a patented way of flipping their hair to get a man's attention, and for good reason: It works. It works very, very well. No.7 Adjusting Your Necktie This one is more for those married or in long-term relationships. But if that doesn't describe you, you're missing out on a great experience: having a woman adjust your necktie (or bow tie, if you're particularly dapper). There's something about this simple utilitarian gesture that's intimate and adorable. No.6 Sneezing In general, we men are rough, callous, dirty, unkempt, hairy and lumbering. So it should come as no surprise that much of what we find so attractive in the opposite sex is, well, their opposite attributes: their grace, tenderness and smoothness. And nowhere is that contrast more apparent than when they sneeze. Men tend to sneeze loudly and powerfully, like miniature volcanoes bursting; women, on the other hand, tend to have high-pitched, endearing sneezes. No.5 Involuntarily Biting Their Lips Spend time in coffee shops or college libraries and just observe women (in as un-creepy a way as you can manage), and you will see the famous lip bite. Many a heart has been melted, songs written and duels fought, over this small, thoughtless gesture. No.4 Moving Their Hips Low-cut pants, hip-hugger jeans, catwalk struts -- yup, guys love to watch girls move their hips, and girls know it. The take home message: Ladies, we love even something as simple as the way you walk. Carry on. read more here |

That is one big question we have to ask this question after the news rumours of Wande Coal leaving MAVIN broke like bonfire. I cannot tell you Wande Coal is leaving Mavin, and of course i am not here to tell you that. I am here to narrate the report of my investigation after i took precious time to poke my nose in the matter. Not too long ago, MoHits disintegrated to be MAVIN and DB records. DB records is owned by Dbanj himself, he left Mohits with Kay – Switch his own blood brother. On the other hand Tiwa Savage joined the Legendary Don Jazzy’s team of Wande Coal, D’prince, Dr SID. Our Deal is on MAVIN so to the matter. You should know, Tiwa Savage is signed to 323 entertainment, a record label owned by her fiance and herself. She has never for once hidden that fact. She also has a deal with MAVIN. Her record label started off far before she joined MAVIN, when people thought she was “waisting” her time, but there is no body that will not relish the chance to work with Don Jazzy (except maybe Kanye West). The connection between Tiwa Savage and Don jazzy is simple. Tee Billz which is Tiwa’s fiance and manager was also D’prince’s manager till few months back when they had to split amicably. Wande Coal’s “THE KICK” and “ROTATE” both produced by Don Jazzy himself (also used to launch the Black Diamond Entertainment movement) never aroused suspicion until KILAJU, which was produced by Maleek Berry was released. When quizzed on twitter , Don Jazzy was said, a son can not live in his father’s house for ever. With Tiwa Savage’s 323 entertainment and Black Diamond Entertainment of Wande Coal, can we conclude this is the trend in MAVIN? Maybe not just yet. In my investigation, i decided to leave out D’prince, because he is Don Jazzy’s brother, and would most probably follow Don Jazzy’s path. Dr Sid, who recently popped a mansion, and also made a return to his former manager during the now defunct Mo’Hits records day, List Management Sunday Are owned (Also D’Prince’s New Management), has signaled strong interest in business by launching his Chocolate Factory called INDULGE. Don Jazzy has signaled interest in other parts of the economy other that entertainment, like floating an Oil and Gas company among others. What do you think Don Jazzy is trying to do. I am of the opinion that they all have long term deals with MAVIN and not ready to leave MAVIN, but due to Don Jazzy’s new task as both the face, producer and CEO of MAVIN (as well as his Night club) , he would not have much time for many times. The task was being shared by Dbanj and Don Jazzy in Mohits, when Dbanj was the face of Mohits and Don Jazzy was the brain. Being the two now can never be easy. I thinl Don Jazzy is trying to build a record label that would allow him to get busy with other things. Giving his artistes creative and musical freedom. We have seen Don Jazzy produce several albums entirely but i guess he doesn’t want that any more, maybe he is getting to old for that(just kidding). I can boldly say that this is far away from the end of MAVIN, rather the beginning of a new musical Movement. This is my opinion, kindly read and comment. this is an original content by me, show some love and click on my link. read here |

hello sir, the concept is that they are now emerging as a very big job in Africa. Some of them have always been good, but with increase in their demand they are getting bigger and bigger. Some of the jobs like the Agriculture thingy are perennial favourite. it is to be remembered that Agriculture once sustained this country. and although Agriculture is still buoyant, it is on a decline. How many of you want to be a Farmer? |
