CIC is aware that most schools have deferral policies, once your program start date has passed, instead of out-rightly refusal, they'd contact you and ask you to provide a new admission letter.

That is why it is advisable to contact your school when your program start date is getting close and you are yet to receive any correspondence from CIC regarding the status of your TRV/STUDY PERMIT application. Defer your admission till the next available start date/intake and get your admission letter ready, so that when you receive a mail from cic requesting for new admission letter, you can send it almost immediately without wasting time; cos apparently any additional document request from cic has a deadline which must be met. failure to meet the deadline can be fatal. And indeed i have seen several people both in this thread and outside this thread that has faced this exact situation.

if your school starts before trv is issued you will have to defer your resumption. so request a letter to that effect from ur uni because cic will ask for it and it might delay ur app.

Pls in addition to wot u said, i want 2 ask if TRV could b issued after start date of class? Cox it doesnt make sense on my own part. And is deir any witness to dis or has it happened b4? Sorry for calling u out @yemdogg and others shud pls clarify this. Thanks.

Visit d cic.gc.ca, gettin to d home page click on the "my application" scroll down u'll c d needed info to achieve dat. All u need is first register and u'll c d option to link ur existing app (paper route) with ur online account. I hope this helps. The guru's in d aose can also drop their tots on dis @michv @yemdogg

Its only if u just join this trend that u wont know whats going on.... We av more dan enof pple in ur shoes. Almost all pgd/pgc applicants are affected by this same issue. In all u can contact CSE abt d issue.

My observation: they communicated twice in exactly one and 2 months.

Does this imply that 12weeks is same as 3 months by their standards?
My programme starts on the 6th of Sept and no medical call yet.

I'm gravely worried.

Any advice from my seniors? I'm a newbie. I'm grateful!

U dont av 2 b worried abt it bcox we av pple in the house that r mor dan 12wks and still waiting for medical calls. Kip d faith and b hopeful for ur callup bro. We'll all share a good testimony here on dis TRV ish.

Tomorrow will be 2 months since I applied for my Study permit..i've been contemplating whether to send them an mail asking about my application but i see people that applied way before me and still haven't get their medical mail.

Gonna be studying Advanced Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology (Insha Allah / By God's Grace) and lectures starts by sept 6... Is there anyone with advanced diploma that also applied and still haven't get their medical email?...Just Curious.

And please I need you guys opinion on whether I should send them an email or if it's too early for me to send.

bro how related it is should be atleast 70% pass mark in that field of study more especially for PGC/PGD and then SOP would serve as cosmetic without going off points.Atimes but not always, these VOs see the prospects of your Program to ur career and home country.A colleague i know only just filled the study permit questionnaire without any SOP.some people on this thread have gotten TRV without SOP.i know of 3 monikers on this thread with all their convictions sef they got refused! To me 100% related + a well grammatical error free,constructed,paragraphed Statement of Purpose,relating ur writings with the terminologies,valid points and technical words in your field,will make you keep ur mind at rest till you know ur outcome from CIC. though we are always laying emphasis on THIS PROGRAM ISSUE cos it is always an occuring refusal reason

Well said bro, wot in an instance whr u are a geotechnician/project manager (6yrs workin experience) in a servicing company armed wt Bsc and Msc in pet geology? U cant expect such applicant 2 go for a bsc or Msc again. Wots ur view abt dis?

If ur program is mor dan 6months, u'll definitely need medicals b4 ur TRV.

Am also waiting for medicals submitted towards endin of June... But its not how related ur course is but ao convincing u can b to d VO. A good SOP and job reference wud do some justice to dat.

I will say yes based on different post we av seen on the trend. But its of rare case for u 2 b denied after medicals. Anything can happen during app process.

I need your honest candid advice on this.

Suppose you've a masters degree & you're looking forward to leaving naija soonest, would you rather apply for the express entry or go for PhD assuming funds isn't an issue.

NB: I just got rejected based on "purpose of visit" for applying for PGD.

Ur rejection is not connotative on ur program (PGD) u need to look at some points: is ur proposed program inline with ur current employment? Did u submit a detailed SOP telling d VO ur prospect as regards d course? Dis r som of d background checks u need 2 see amongst others. We have pple wt Msc and was given TRV wt PGD/PGC admission. Sometimes its advisable to pay full tuition fees b4 submitting ur app if u find ursef in dat situation provided ur school has return policy in case of denial, it wud go a long way to speak on ur commitment to ur program

Sometimes it's not just about program inconsistency.

In your sop, u must highlight your prospects and the opportunity your intending program will afford you. Business administration is keenly related to hrm. Buh maybe you didn't address what your future plans and projection is. Did you state how lucrative the program is ? The VOs want to know if the program you're going for will benefit you career wise in your country upon conclusion of the program. If you don't address this issue there's high probability that the VO would delay you.

These VOs are not God they don't know everything. So it's your job to educate them on the relationship between your previous degree and your intending program. It's not just enough for you to think that because you feel that your previous degree is related to intending program that the VO would know too. Use your sop to adumbrate well on the correlation between your previous degree and your intending program.

Also it's always advisable to talk more on your employment prospects upon conclusion of your program and upon return to your country.

Choose programs that are obviously very much in high demand in Nigeria and make sure you paint the program as very lucrative in Nigeria. The essence of studying abroad is for you to further or upgrade your career and to return to your country. So the vo would want to see how your program will fetch you good paying jobs and opportunities in Nigeria.

Thanks for d detailed info. I av said this before i fink i shud say it again, if ur proposed study program is not related to ur previous degree(s), then, it shud b inline with ur current employment.

Photocopies except the statement of account, benk reference letter, sponsorship letter

All letters addressed to the embassy wud b in originals and all other docs wud b photocopy. If u can get certified true copy of all ur photocopies, its a good approach, what is worth doing at all is worth doin well.

I'll continue to say this, its not about how related your course is, all this ups n downs of VO's is still on Gods doing. I know pple who has been granted TRV for pgd who has Msc degree in Nigeria. We all have to pray for Gods mercy, getting ur TRV is more than just submitting all the docs in this world, if ur prev edu is not inline wt ur program, atleast ur current employment should be related to d program, and get a good SOP to convince the VO. Coupled with prayer, u'll get it.
