Viruses: Since you have decided to go down dirty, I will just leave you alone in the mud, no need to fight dirty with a pig. Perhaps you stay at Peckham, Hackney or just about anywhere in Birmingstan. where I stay should be the least of your worries, however where you come from I recon is one slum in lagos and you think you are better than those who live in Peckham where average house prices is above £500K |

justwise: Loan is not better, if managed your cc properly don’t pay interest or charges which is not the same with loan. you recon bro, check this loans has fixed repayment CC dont, they charge you on interest of the balance unless you clear your balance. However on my previous post I did state that o ne should stay away from CC until such time they are financially matured. Its an advice though as we all fell into this false sense of enrichment when we started, myself inclusive. Don't you agree that a store card will do o ne much good than a CC? |

CheesyTee: I'm not even worried about the charges.
I'm more concerned about the reference they provided for the prospective landlord. I forwarded the emails we exchanged with the old agency to the landlord and she mentioned the apartment was clean enough but would rather speak directly with the old landlord. Oh dear |

ProfJYK: One also is more likely to be approved for a low limit beginers credit card with poor credit than a loan.
Also, there are other reasons for taking a credit card apart from Credit Score.
Like it's also been repeatedly advised, watch your spending, only spend what you can pay back in full. Watch your statement closing dates keenly. Start with free cards without monthly or annual fees.
Follow these above, you will be fine. I understand what you are saying but like I will repeat if there is an option between loans and credit card you should always take a loan. There is only one winner in taking a credit card, THE CREDIT CARD COY. Repayment is fixed in loans but that's not the case ion credit cards. One of the reasons new comers in the UK run to credit cards is this misconception that the money is almost free to spend 4gotting you got to pay all back at some point. However when one reaches a level of financial maturity in the Uk a credit card is a must as it offers more protection when doing or paying for goods or services but for newbies NOP |

CheesyTee: My people, please help chook mouth for this matter.
The current place we live in is not suitable for kids. Although the landlord came to fix some of the things we complained about, he only comes when it's almost time for the next rent.
Why not move out you may ask. Especially when we didn't sign a long contract. It's really tough getting a house to rent on the island as most house owners either do short-let (Airbnb mostly) or put the property up for sale.
We have been applying for houses advertised online and have no luck securing one.
We recently found out the reason through this potential landlord the reference provided by the previous house agent. The agency said we left the property dirty and they had to professionally clean it. Even though we cleaned the property ourselves and sent images as proof but they still charged us £200 for cleaning and repainting.
I am so down and don't know what to do cos this place is quite expensive and not suitable at all. you can file a complain, was your deposit held with a deposit scheme? |

Viruses: The system somehow pushes you to build credit and using credit card is one of the ways to do that. When I just came and was looking for accomodation, landlords/agents were talking about credit score, it sounded strange but brought the idea of credit to my consciousness. you can build credit without credit cards. You are better off taking a loan than a credit card |

DeeOneBangin: Everybody knows HMRC will collect every dime owed to the last penny, nobody is disputing that. But the fact remains that I didn’t get taxed till about 5-6 months (only NI deduction was reflected on payslip, income tax was always 0.00) and I know a couple of newly arrived that this has happened to. How that happened, I don’t know.
And instead of someone just completely knocking off erico2k2 which I feel he is correct because it kinda applied to me.
And las las I got a letter saying i owed £138 well at times its the fault of your employer. However you can challenge this if you check your tax code and work it out cos they are not always right, toomany people jst pay |

Viruses: No thank am o. His explanation is wrong even though he sounded confident.
Tax allowance = 12k plus Annual salary = 24k (assumption) Monthly salary = 2k. Taxable income = 12k (i.e 24k -12k)
You will be taxed monthly throughout the tax cycle (i.e one year). Meaning instead of paying tax on 2k monthly, you will be paying tax on 1k monthly. If your salary is less than the tax allowance (i.e 12k plus), you won't pay tax at all.
His explanation is you won't be taxed for the first 6 months till you have earned above 12k and that is wrong. You are getting it wrong I never put a time scale on it, I just said when you earn above your tax code which is your taxfree money. for example if you start a new job May this year and you earn 2k B4 tax and you decide to quit and take a break and go to Nigeria by September and yor tax code is 12000L, howmuch tax would you pay lets see if we get thte gist |
Travel › Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by erico2k2(m): 7:35pm On May 18, 2022 |
phyl123: It depends on your tax code, if you started work after the tax year has begun and you have got M1 after your code e.g 1200L M1 you will be taxed on a monthly basis but if your tax code is simply 1200L it will be accumulated until you have earned more than your personal allowance. You my friend understands how the tax works, the problem with the newbies is the like to jump into conclusion without properly analysing the whole fact. Another fact is this two people might work in same place earn same 24k per year but mr A might take home more than Mr B cos of tax codes. Back in the early and late 200os you get a cheque back cos you have been overtaxed cos your tax code was based on BR 20% but these days HMRC have upgraded instead of returning your overtaxed money the simply adjust your tax code to reflect the money they owe you. |
