Smh CPS is an abbreviation for child protective service and it’s used in The US and maybe some other countries smh
CPS(Child Protective Service)
The UK has 4 Different Child protective service (Each nation in the UK)
Again you are digressing ,no one is talking about loss of job ,child maintenance here . We are talking about his intent the fact that he took them to another country , left them there with a pretence to holiday and finally taking their travel documents with him (theft ) is what I am talking about .sorry ! I will not share real life cases !
Oh this has absolutely nothing to do with emotions lol you’re the one getting all riled up about it .
Again ,there have been tons of cases in the US and certain part of E.U where one parent sue the other for child neglect/abandonment even in the UK there are several a times certain parent take their kids to their home country only to abandoned them there (off course they do send money for up keeps ) this things do backfire.there have been situations where children that are aware of their parents intentions would literally put metals or spoon in their clothings just to set off body scanner at the airport .

Again ,we are not talking about Loss of job ,child maintenance ,Government Assistance etc I see this as you digressing from the actual conversation, i’m done with this conversation.

good luck
Miss, I did not ask you to share you real life story all I am asking is to give a case reference as to when one parent has successfully sued another one for chid neglect in the narrative as above. CPS in the UK does not has anything to do with child protection in the UK as per abbreviation, it means Crown prosecution service here in the UK maybe in the US that's what the abbreviation is but not in the UK so no need Shaking ur head, this is ignorance. Once again I ask give o ne reference to a court case that has same narrative as to the subject we are on a bout miss.

StilmaVsBorn2w:
Back then when my mom was warning me not to go that far when our relationship started She kept on insisting I should go for the girls in my tribe, I thought she was just been a tribalist bigot. If only I had listened

She bore me a son, he's 3years now... though her people knows me well from normal visitation..but I haven't been able to pay her bride price yet due to the hardship this regime has on us. life happened, unfortunately she got sick since February, ever since then from one hospital to another..I took several loans from people for hospital bills to the point of me looking sick myself.so sad for us we lost her last night.

I informed her elder brother who knows about all thats happening, he called me back this morning to tell me that his people told me to be prepared to marry her corpse. He went further and said if I don't pay her bride price, my boy will be taken from me and I should be ready to withstand the consequences.
I was surprised, I called for the burial arrangements not for a marriage ceremony

I blantly told him, I won't, why would I get married to her corpse. He was angry and cut the call on me.

Am more concerned about my son, please lawyer's in the house do they have any right to take my son away from me?
Even if they do am ready to give it to them, but spending money to Marry her corpse I will not.

I only brought this here, if had chance for my son whose still in my custody.
Sometimes we 4get we are Africans, we have laws and customs which has stood the test of time no point trying to apply a western law to solve a local problem, do the needful and live a happy life. You got to follow tradition and buy the few things needed to give the woman's family rest and yours rest too. If your boy got taken from you and you go to the police they will tell you go and settle its a family issue which rightful it is.This happened to a good friend of mine and he has to deal with it.GO AND PAY THE MONEY. You probably buy few drinks and Kola and prayers offered game over.No one is happy to take that money at death but the deed is done.

There’s has been cases here similar to the above and one parent was able to hit the other with child abandonment/emotional distress and loss of wages law suit . He actually took their traveling documents with him (theft ) I’d love to drop real life prove and other details for some legal reason I’d rather leave it alone .
If you are in any Western Hemisphere all you have to do is pick up your phone and call CPS they’ll gladly enlighten you . All the other things you wrote is not relevant to the conversation, you are literally digressing .
I do not need to check your profile for nada, I asked a simple question and if you can’t answer it that’s on you .
Why dnt you mention the narratives of the case lets see if it bears any resemblance to the one in question, About living in the west, In the Uk the CPS is for crimes that goes to the criminal courts like the CCC(Old baily).I just copied and pasted the definition of child abandonment up there for you reference and you said it was irrelevant cos you knew for the simple fact that it was the correct narrative, whilst I recognise that the Man has a motive to what he has done of which non of us a privy to, one must not let emotion take over our reasoning rather rational thought always win in cases like this. The only offence of abandonment the man can commit here if if he fails to take care of the kids financially however if he can prove that he cannot earn enough to do that nothing will be done, the state would have to provide that money for the woman hence we have child benefit and council houses in the UK and the EU and the US. This narrative is what has driven most guys to do cash in hand JOBS or jump on Ubar, cab drivers that way their income cannot be tracked. In the video you can see she is not even doing enough to accuse the man rather the man,s sister.

Why take away someone's freedom based on suspicion alone?

Why are they so lazy to investigate? They are supposed to work with the local PHC police to put tabs on her while investigation is ongoing; not take away her freedom.

I don't think they have any right to take her to Benin just yet.

Please get a lawyer asap.
Thanks, this is what pizzes me off, we got a lawyer and she got bailed at the moment. We are seeking an injunction from court to stop the transfer as the deed was done in PHC not Benin.

Oh yes I am very enlightened especially with cases like this .
Errr,I think it’s literally went over your head , quick question where are you based ? Your answers determine a lot of things .

He can be hit with child abandonment/subtly moving a child to another country in pretence of holiday when in-fact he is abandoning the minor period ! ! Just because his mom is around doesn’t mean the dad didn’t abandon him in another country , please use your common sense . A parent can actually sue the other parent for child abandonment even if both parent are in the same country not talk of dumping your child in another country. I don’t think you understand how the system works if you do, you won’t be going back and forth.
Sorry my location has nothing to do with my answer however if you are as enlightened as you so claimed one click on my mention would have given you an indication of where I am based, anyway moving on, here is what google has to say
Child Abandonment and the Law
The Law and Child Abandonment Child abandonment is considered to be the act of leaving of a child on their own without any intention of returning to ensure their safety and wellbeing. It is considered to be among the most serious of offences a parent can commit in relation to their child.

Child abandonment
Child abandonment is the practice of relinquishing interests and claims over one's offspring in an illegal way, with the intent of never resuming or reasserting guardianship. The phrase is typically used to describe the physical abandonment of a child, but it can also include severe cases of neglect and emotional abandonment, such as when parents fail to provide financial and emotional support for children over an extended period of time. An abandoned child is referred to as a foundling. Baby dumping refers to parents leaving a child younger than 12 months in a public or private place with the intent of terminating their care for the child. It is also known as rehoming when adoptive parents use illegal means, such as the internet, to find new homes for their children.(This was the case of baby P in the Uk)
No parent can sue the next parent for child neglect for the simple reason below
If a dad decides not to be part of the family and not seeing the kids social services gets involve and mandate the man to pay child support and it ends there, you cant force him to go see the kids, there is nowhere in law that supports this,
if the said dad can prove on paper that he is jobless then he does not need to pay any child support and no court in the US or Uk can do anything about it, this is why the Mum would get child benefit and child support to soften the effect plus free house. The man can go to jail if it is proven that he works and does not pay his child support(UK) or Child maintainance(US)

FYI he did not move the kids the mum did and we do not know the underlining issues of why he decided to go back abroad without the wife and kids, If he brought the kids by himself and left them there by them self then that would be abandonment. There is nowhere in the article were it stated that the woman and kids could not return on their own if they so wish

Hi everyone,

My father happened to be the first son of my grandfather who automatically inherit his lands and other properties.

My father just died and since I'm the first son of my father. Which means I'm automatically inherit and in charge of those inheritance.

Now my uncles are all ganging up against me. These guys not allowing me to do the burial of my father who passed away for a while now.

They keep giving different excuses on why the burial will not hold.

They gang up and cancel the burial i fixed previously and I lost everything. All what I spent for the burial arrangements was wasted.

I really want to charge them for this.

They are using the influence that if they are not in support the burial will not hold.

These uncles has really fustrate me and I keep spending money and wasting my precious time traveling back to the village for series of meetings just to please them.

Yet they're not approving my burying my father. Not like they are giving me any money for the burial. I'm the one handling it yet they no gree.

They said i cannot inherit the grandfather and my father's properties..so I cannot do my father burial. And these are for their own selfish motives.

The Kingsman and the king supports me and has cautious the uncles to desease from such. But yet they still persist.

I have tried to make peace and peace with them as family concern but yet they are all still ganging up. And wow to fustrate me.

Now my patience has ruined out. I'm in mood for actions now.

I want to take matter higher than the community level with them now.

I'm thinking taking them to court now. But I don't know the process.

I'm seeking for the right direction i can take to solve such issue.

Thank you so much

Please, I don't want to be judged. My husband is a good man. We have been married for 14 years. I am 33 years old. He is 39 years old. We have 4 kids - 3 girls and 1 boy. He has never cheated on me. Right from day 1, he has been very open. He is not the type of husband that locks phone and all of that. But I am tired. He has the habit of flaring up around the children and I don't like it. I don't want my kids to be damaged. I know some will say no marriage is perfect but at this point, I don't even want marriage again. I just want to be free and single and look after my kids. I am tired.

Anytime we have an argument, he always talks about how he did this and that for me. In front of the children. I don't want this kind of life. He hardly gets angry, maybe twice or thrice in a year but when he does, he does not have the sense to know he should not be doing it in front of the kids. He apologizes to them and to me but I am done.

He has no other issue apart from this. He has never beaten me or anything but I am tired. Overall he is a good husband to be fair and honest but I can no longer deal with this. I prefer to be single and free than deal with this rubbish.

I feel like pouring out my heart.

Oleys:
A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja has slammed 25 million Naira damages on gossip blogger, Linda Ikeji for defaming Mrs Ajibola Ajayi.

In a release on its official Twitter page, the Law firm of Olaniwun Ajayi LP announced that its has successfully prosecuted the case against the controversial gossip merchant in suit number FCT/CV/667/2018: Mrs Ajibola Ajayi v. Linda Ikeji before an FCT Abuja High court.

In the court case, the Mrs Ajibola Ajayi had sued Ms. Linda Ikeji in respect of the defamatory article published in the latter’s blog, on 15.01.17 and 17.01.17 which cited Mrs. Ajibola Ajayi as having described protesting students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, as a “generation of mannerless children” in an Instagram post with the username “conceited_csj”.

Ajibola Ajayi is the daughter of late former governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi

In the judgment delivered on 12.04.2022, the Court held that the publication by Ms. Ikeji was false and malicious and that the evidence before the Court showed that the Defendant knew that the Instagram account with the username “conceited_csj” did not belong to the Claimant.

The Court further held that the publication was made available to readers worldwide which exposed the Claimant to ridicule by members of the public who read the offending article.

In reiterating the trite principle of law that libel is actionable per se, the Court awarded general and exemplary damages in the sum of N25,000,000.00 (Twenty-Five Million Naira) against Ms. Linda Ikeji and directed Ms. Ikeji to publish a written apology to the Claimant in three National tabloids.

Science/Technology › Using Ice To Boil Water: Heat Transfer Discovery Expands On 18th Century Physics by erico2k2(op): 5:20pm On Apr 14, 2022

TOPICS:Fluid DynamicsFluid MechanicsIcePopularVirginia TechWater

Associate Professor Jonathan Boreyko and graduate fellow Mojtaba Edalatpour have made a discovery about the properties of water that could provide an exciting addendum to a phenomenon established over two centuries ago. The discovery also holds interesting possibilities for cooling devices and processes in industrial applications using only the basic properties of water. Their work was published today (January 21, 2022) in the journal Physical Review Fluids.

Water can exist in three phases: a frozen solid, a liquid, and a gas. When heat is applied to a frozen solid, it becomes a liquid. When applied to the liquid, it becomes vapor. This elementary principle is familiar to anyone who has observed a glass of iced tea on a hot day, or boiled a pot of water to make spaghetti.

When the heat source is hot enough, the water’s behavior changes dramatically. According to Boreyko, a water droplet deposited onto an aluminum plate heated to 150 degrees Celsius (302 degrees Fahrenheit) or above will no longer boil. Instead, the vapor that forms when the droplet approaches the surface will become trapped beneath the droplet, creating a cushion that prevents the liquid from making direct contact with the surface. The trapped vapor causes the liquid to levitate, sliding around the heated surface like an air hockey puck. This phenomenon is known as the Leidenfrost effect, named for the German doctor and theologian who first described it in a 1751 publication.

This commonly accepted scientific principle applies to water as a liquid, floating on a bed of vapor. Boreyko’s team found themselves wondering: Could ice perform in the same way?

“There are so many papers out there about levitating liquid, we wanted to ask the question about levitating ice,” said Boreyko. “It started as a curiosity project. What drove our research was the question of whether or not it was possible to have a three-phase Leidenfrost effect with solid, liquid, and vapor.”
Going into the ice
Curiosity sparked the first investigation in Boreyko’s lab some five years ago in the form of a research project by then-undergraduate student Daniel Cusumano. What he observed was fascinating. Even when the aluminum was heated above 150 C, the ice did not levitate on vapor as liquid does. Cusumano continued raising the temperature, observing the behavior of the ice as the heat increased. What he found was that the threshold for levitation was dramatically higher: 550 C (1022 F) rather than 150 C. Up until that threshold, the meltwater beneath the ice continued to boil in direct contact with the surface, rather than exhibit the Leidenfrost effect.

What was going on underneath the ice that prolonged the boiling? The project was picked back up by graduate student Mojtaba Edalatpour a short time later, to solve the mystery. Edalatpour had been working with Boreyko to develop novel methods of heat transfer and put that knowledge to work in approaching this problem. The answer turned out to be the temperature differential in the meltwater layer beneath the ice. The meltwater layer has two different extremes: Its bottom is boiling, which fixes the temperature at about 100 C, but its top is adhered to the remaining ice, which fixes it at about 0 C. Edalatpour’s model revealed that the maintenance of this extreme temperature differential consumes most of the surface’s heat, explaining why levitation was more difficult for ice.

Boreyko elaborated. “The temperature differential the ice is uniquely creating across the water layer
has changed what happens in the water itself, because now most of the heat from the hot plate has to go across the water to maintain that extreme differential. So only a tiny fraction of the energy can be used to produce vapor anymore.”

The elevated temperature of 550 degrees Celsius for the icy Leidenfrost effect is practically important. Boiling water is optimally transporting heat away from the substrate, which is why you feel ample heat rising from a pot of water that is boiling, but not from a pot of water that is merely hot. This means that the difficulty in levitating ice is actually a good thing, as the larger temperature window for boiling will result in better heat transfer compared to using a liquid alone.

“It is much harder to levitate the ice than it was to levitate the water droplet,” said Boreyko. “Heat transfer plummets as soon as levitation begins, because when liquid levitates, it doesn’t boil anymore. It’s floating over the surface rather than touching, and touching is what causes it to boil the heat away. So, for heat transfer, levitation is terrible. Boiling is incredible.”

Using ice for heat transfer
As the team explored possibilities for practical application, they looked to their existing work. Since Edalatpour had extensive research in heat transfer, that topic became a logical fit.

Heat transfer comes most into play for cooling off things like computer servers or car engines. It requires a substance or mechanism that can move energy away from a hot surface, redistributing heat quickly to reduce the wear and tear on metal parts. In nuclear power plants, the application of ice to induce rapid cooling could become an easily-deployed emergency measure if power fails, or a regular practice for servicing power plant parts.

There are also potential applications for metallurgy. To produce alloys, it is necessary to quench the heat from metals that have been shaped in a narrow window of time, making the metal stronger and less brittle. If ice were applied, it would allow heat to be offloaded rapidly through the three water phases, quickly cooling the metal.
Boreyko also foresees a potential for applications in firefighting.

“You could imagine having a specially made hose that is spraying ice chips as opposed to a jet of water,” he said. “This is not science fiction. I visited an aerospace company that has an icing tunnel and they already have this technology where a nozzle sprays out ice particles as opposed to water droplets.”

With myriad possibilities, Boreyko and Edalatpour are excited about the new contribution that has come to the science world. Looking back over the past five years, they still credit this exciting development to their shared spark of curiosity and the drive to be creative in research.
